The Fat Girl’s Guide to Loving Your Body by K.L. Montgomery – Review by Mirela Ruiz

The Fat Girl's Guide to Loving Your BodyThe Fat Girl’s Guide to Loving Your Body by K.L. Montgomery
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Fat Girl’s Guide to Loving Your Body by K.L. Montgomery was an inspiring and emotional read. I did not know that I needed to read this book as much as I did. I started the book because the last few months I have been on this journey of self discovery and the next step seemed to be self care in regards to my body. I enjoyed all of the references and information embedded in the book. The humor throughout was a welcome relief, there are so many self help books that are just fluffy or don’t come across as genuine as this book does. I definitely want to spend the next year doing the journal entries. I did not do them the first time around because I could tell from the beginning that I needed to read this book and get the big picture before I started dissecting myself. This will become a welcome reread time and time again not just for the journal entries but for the reminders of the impact that our everyday lives have on our mental state.

I did now know what to expect but the book had a little bit of everything. There was steam, romance, and the supernatural. I enjoyed Piper and Noah, they were good characters that I could envision without much effort. The plot and story flowed nicely too which can be tough in the supernatural world.

Maggie (Maggie Trilogy Book 1) by Mya O’Malley was a thrilling read! Normally I would never mix a thriller with the supernatural but I could not resist. This book had me struggling to put the book down, I was captivated by the story. The plot is thick and keeps you glued to your screen. I am sure just the thrills and chills will give me nightmares but it will be well worth it. I could easily see everything unfolding like a movie, I cannot wait to get into books 2 and 3.

Forbidden Love; Written by Lisa Jones Gentry, As Told by Joe Steele was a very deep read. I give this book a four out of five stars. I found the time period captivating and the struggles very present. I was drawn in on pure emotion and struggled to keep it together through some parts. The point of view was unique and definitely adds an element to the story. The religion is there but I was more captivated by the characters, their lives, and the time period. I am not overly religious I knew just enough to understand the drama that was present when picking this book up.

There were definitely times where I wished I could jump in and tie all the pieces together for the characters. I was easily captivated and fell in love with New Orleans more than I already was.
