Rafe is the main male character and is so strong while being so gentle. He is so gentle with the character named Ellie. He was the type of boyfriend you want for yourself but able to dream about but can only read. He knew what to say, he was so on love with Ellie he didn’t know what to do with himself. He would do anything for her to keep her safe and just so she could have. He let her be Ellie and let her be herself which she desperately needed. Rafe needed someone to tell him he deserved to be loved. He was so hard on himself and he needed someone to support him. Rafe was real hard on himself and he needed someone to tell him he was worth it. Ellis was a wonderful character, she was strong and tender all in one. The whole time reading I thought I thought I knew what was going to happen but I really didn’t. I like those type of books. I would have liked the climax of it all to have lasted a little longer but it didn’t take anything away from the magic of the book or these two characters. Friends to lovers is a very good thing in my book I like those type of books. And ‘Into the Light’ has that and a lot of it. It was a truly beautiful story that kept me turning the page to find out what was going to happen at the end. This is definitely going to be one on my list that will be read over and over again. In fact, I think the whole series is one that I will read again and again. Kate’s writing style is one that pulls you in and keeps you in. Kate also writes romance and relationships with a beautiful flair that has me smiling so many times throughout each of her books. She’s an exceptional author. I absolutely loved reading this book.

First and foremost I loved the trigger warnings in the front of the book. The thought that and care to how the story may affect the readers is always welcome. This is the first book by this author that I’ve read. (Now I have to go back and read the others).Although this is a romance novel it does touch upon a lot of dark areas. It’s a bit of crime thriller. Each character was developed nicely and relatable. Definitely kept my interest enough to finish in one sitting. There is a lot of trauma in the story but also a lot of love, friendship and healing.

Into the Light (Moon Harbor Series Book 3)

I love finding new to me authors and when I enjoy their books as much as I enjoyed this one it’s a double bonus.

I quickly connected with the story even though it’s the third book in a series. The relationship between the characters is explained easily and I was to jump on in without feeling like I was missing super important information. But I do hope I have time here soon to go back and read the rest of her catalog.

Rafael broke my heart plain and simple. He felt responsible for so much bad that has happened and because of that he wouldn’t allow himself any happiness.

Ellie is a wonderful woman and a talented jewelry artist who is finally starting to find a little bit of success even if it’s on the local level. Her feelings have been there a long time without acting which I have no idea how she held out so long.

Definitely worth the wait.

This book is the third in the series. While this could be read as a stand alone, I really think you need to read them in order. They won’t disappoint. This novel has a lot of great character development and deals with a really well thought out storyline. There is lots of drama, romance, suspense and of course an HEA.

You have Raf. You have Ellie. They both have a crush on each other, but they don’t show it correctly to each other. Raf acts as the quiet friend, but he only does that because of his secrets. Ellie is always treated as a delicate flower ever since her parents passed away and when her brother went into the military. Raf was acting as a big brother before that, but she wants more. It’s such a good story!!

I read this as a standalone because I didn’t know there were other books prior to reading the references within. I’m starting to read the others since I had to catch up and not be in the loop. But this book itself was so beautifully written, I fell in love with the characters, and I absolutely loved the story! I don’t wanna give it away but it was well worth the read and hopefully the others are as well.

Ellie and Rafael both have a crush on each other. However, Ellie has no clue about his attraction to her and Rafael attempts to hide his feelings. Rafael is best friends with Ellie’s older brother and takes on the role of a protector of Ellie’s best interests. Ellie doesn’t want to be viewed as a little sister anymore.
At Rafael’s birthday party, Ellie is wearing a tiny red dress, and Rafael is mortified when he sees other men ogling her. He shadows her and whispers about how inappropriate her dress appears. Angry, Ellie tells him off and then slips through the crowd, making it a point to not look at him. Before she leaves, she hands him his gift and leaves. He quickly follows but not before she runs into her ex-boyfriend David. David is still interested in Ellie, and she invites him to go to her brother’s wedding. Rafael and Ellie are torn into a dance of hiding their feelings or allowing their vulnerability to show.
Meanwhile, darkness from Rafael’s past has followed him. His past could cost him his relationship with Ellie and his reputation with the tiny town he has called home.

Into the LightInto the Light by Kate McWilliams

I dived into this book, falling in love with the characters straight away, then realised that it’s not the first book in the series…oops. Thankfully, each book can be read as a standalone but now I want to read the stories of the 2 couples who came before, who have a large secondary role in this book.
I hadn’t read any of this author’s work before so wasn’t sure what to expect. What I got was a great brother’s best friend romance that was filled with danger and drama too. Just what I needed to read on a wet weekend in Glasgow. I got totally lost in Raf and Ellie’s story.
Raf has loved Ellie for years but she’s his best friend’s little sister – a no-go area. Added to the fact that he has a past that he’s ashamed of and things he’s not good enough for her. Meanwhile Ellie has loved Raf for years but assumes he just sees her like a little sister and not the grown-up woman that she is.
This is an angst filled read that becomes spicy when the couple realise that they can’t hold back the feelings they have for each other. I really didn’t want to put this book down.
100% recommend.

A great read! I really enjoyed Ellie and Raf’s story and this story by a new to me author.

This was a quick, easy read. Ellie, the younger sister of Raf’s best friend, is in the midst of great loss but determined and kind and secretly crushing on Raf. Raf wrought with his own demons and feeling as though he brings bad luck to those around him, likes Ellie but is determined to stay away, but can he really?

I enjoyed the character and story development and the story stood on its own well. The author did a wonderful job creating tension within the story, keeping the reader turning the pages. I throughly enjoyed the entirety of this book and recommend it. I can’t wait to catch up on the rest of this series.

Rafael Marroquin may be quiet, but there is a reason. He does not want to get close to ANYBODY, but he is still helpful if someone needs him. As long as he stays away nobody gets hurt. Ellie Walters is strong and depends on nobody. With her parents gone, she wants to travel her own journey. How will these friends get to the place they want to be? Will there be a romance for them? No Spoilers here! This author is new to me and her book could be read as a standalone. However this one was so good that I must go get book 1 and 2 in this series. This author’s writing is so clear as well as fast paced. I love the characters and even more the strong independent Ellie. Definitely a must read.

This was such an amazing book! From the first page about Ellie and Raf’s life to the last page of their journey, I couldn’t put it down. Ellie is tired of being treated like a child by her brother and his overbearing best friend, Rafael. It’s no surprise that it hurts her a little bit more than it should because she is crazy about him and wants nothing more than to be with him in every way possible. What does come as a shock is that Raf wants her just as much but doesn’t believe he’s good enough for her, she’s perfection and Raf’s past makes him believe that she would be much better if they never became anything more than how they come across… Friends but when the passion becomes too much and they finally admit their feelings to each other, skeletons from his closet come back to try to drag them apart. Can their love overcome the normal troubles of a long-forbidden relationship… Can they overcome the extra hurdles thrown their way? Can they outrun the past before it catches them? Absolutely LOVED this book!!

Fantastic story with a few twists that you might not see coming.

Eleanor “Ellie” has been in love with Rafael for over a decade. There have always been barriers to her expressing her feelings for him, Raf is her brother’s best friend, he sees her as a little sister, and they are squarely in the friendzone. Recently Raf has been giving off mixed signals, like the longing looks but at the same time telling her she can’t wear a short skirt. Ellie has had it. She has to move on.

Rafael “Raf” is just a fisherman from the wrong side of the tracks. Despite his love for Ellie, he won’t ever be the kind of man she deserves. Not that her brother, his best friend, would ever let him date her anyway. Raf has loved Ellie as long as he can remember. It is getting harder and harder for him to fight his feelings. When a stranger attempts to take Ellie, Raf decides that he needs to let Ellie know what she means to him, friendship be damned.

When the attempted abduction turns into more, Raf finds himself in an interrogation room scared that Ellie won’t believe he had nothing to do with what is going on. When the ghosts of Raf’s past threaten his future with Ellie, Raf must act, even if it means the end.

Delightful, steamy quick read with enough suspense to keep you guessing.

Loved this book and the dynamic between Raf and Ellie. They begin as friends, both secretly wanting the other but factors such as Raf’s past and Ellie’s brother are standing in their way. But even with the speed bumps, when they finally connect we are given a steamy romance that just keeps getting better. I didn’t realize this was a third book in the series and I loved getting to know the characters of Moon Harbor and will have to read about their stories now. I did enjoy the added suspense the author unraveled but it was a bit of an easy mystery to resolve with little fanfare surrounding it. Great read!

I love Ellie and Raf’s story so much! Raf is best friends with Ellie’s brother. She’s the younger sister. They both have had feelings for each other for SO long but never acted on it. Raf always made sure to look out for her though and was always there for her and a little overbearing, lol. The backstory for Raf is pretty deep, I wasn’t expecting that. But I love it at the same time. He doesn’t think he deserves anything good..because of his past. Book took a turn I wasn’t expecting either! Suspenseful about 70% into the book and it’s SO good. A lot of angst in the beginning and a lot of spice 😉 towards the end. Great characters and great story! Read this in one sitting!

Into the LightInto the Light by Kate McWilliams
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a wonderfully heartwarming romantic suspense novel, with a forbidden romance element and a bit of a mystery added to the storyline, making this is an enjoyable and engaging read. Set in a small town, Moon Harbor, Raf is known as the quiet and reliable friend who doesn’t cause trouble, but Raf believes he’s cursed. He refuses to get close to people because they tend to get hurt when he does. Raf definitely does not want to hurt his best friends sister, Ellie, who has been treated as delicate by everyone following the death of her parents, but Ellie wants to live her own life. Ellie has secretly loved Raf, her brothers friend for years but he just sees her as his best friends kid sister, or so she thinks.
However, neither of them can deny their sizzling chemistry, but just as their friendship develops Raf’s tragic secret past comes back to haunt him, and threatens everything as their town is put at risk. More worryingly Ellie is in danger, the couple need to save each other and hope their love survives. Raf and Ellie are likeable and relatable characters who I felt instantly engaged with, and the descriptive narrative really brought the setting of Moon Harbor to life. I look forward to reading the previous books in the series, having enjoyed this one.

What a wonderful story. This may have been book 3 in the series but I easily read it as a standalone however I definitely would love to read the first two as I enjoyed this one so much. I love a forbidden romance read so this was definitely a great book for me, I loved the characters Raf and Ellie, they are the type of characters who you just connect with straightaway and I soon fell in love with them. Alongside the romance there was a nice mystery element going on. I thought the author did a great job with this – this is actually the first book that I have read by this author and I was really impressed with her easy to read writing style and as mentioned earlier I absolutely can’t wait to read more of this series by her.

Into the Light (Moon Harbor Series #3) by Kate McWilliams

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. This book kept me entertained. I absolutely loved this book and will be looking forward to the next one. Into the Light is the third book in the Moon Harbor Series. It can be read as a standalone.

Ellie has been crushing on her brother’s best friend for years. She’s afraid that he still sees her as a kid sister. Then she confesses her feelings for him. Then he gets into some trouble. Then she’s in danger. The quote I chose for Ellie is: “Yeah, and you did look after me. A little too much, I might add. But that was years ago. I’m not a kid anymore. And frankly, I wasn’t even a kid then.”

Rafael has always had a thing for Ellie. He won’t act on it for several reasons. One being she’s his best friend’s little sister. His past was a huge problem for him. And the fact that he thinks she still sees him as a brother. Then someone from his past is out to get him. He hurts Ellie in the process of trying to get Raf. The quote I chose for Rafael is: “I do. I mean it. Even before this. I always knew you were amazing. And I wasn’t good enough for you. But now that I’ve had you for myself, I don’t think I can let you go.”

Highly recommended for Romantic Suspense lovers.

I definitely want to go back and read the other two books in the series, as there were connecting details to them that I would love to get more insight on.

The book was the perfect romantic mystery for me! I fell in love right from the start. The characters were also easy to fall in love with, both Rafael and Ellie had amazing chemistry throughout. They had definitely grown on me by the end of the novel. Can’t wait to read more by this author!

Into the Light (Moon Harbor Series Book 3) by Kate McWilliams – Review by Savanah Schwarz

When reading this there is a clear message to the reader that this is a friends-to-lovers trope. So there is no mistaking it based on the previous books and the character story you see briefly in and out of the others in the series. I am a huge fan of this trope, and Kate did not disappoint. The characters were hard not to love and root for. Everything is pointing for them to be together. Between Rafe’s guilt and twisted past, and Ellie’s fragile but stubborn pride, it is clear they will both have to come together. When they do…whew lots of sexy-smexy time and dirty talk! Throw in the other characters and a brief glimpse of their story and a never-ending ride of up and down with these two and you can’t help but love this book.

Kate tells the tale of Rafe and Ellie who fall in love despite their circumstances. Ellie is fragile and sweet, she can hold her own and definitely stubborn and independent. She has fallen so deeply in love with Rafe, but he is older and her older brother’s friend. Very taboo, but she still cannot manage to stay away. Her parents dying has given her a reality check on many things, but rebuilding the friendship with Rafe has made her realize things about herself and the love she feels for Rafe.

Rafe, broken and “cursed” according to him, has no intention of being anything other than friends with Ellie, despite being friends with her brother. He knows he is bad for her, and yet is drawn to her flirtatious nature and independent stubborn will. Through flirty banter and sweet gentleness and Rafe’s ever-present strength and protectiveness over Ellie, I quickly got carried away with this story. This is my first time reading any of this Author’s books. I will tell you it won’t be the last. definitely recommend it to others.

Oh how I wished I read the previous books ! I didn’t really feel lost but I so enjoyed this read that I feel like I robbed myself of the previous 2 so don’t have the same regrets I do and read them first ❣️📕

Ellie and Raf have known each for some time and he’s been her secret crush for like forever ❣️it’s mutual but the neither knows it and Raf also feels like he’s got to be loyal to the bro code as Ellie’s his friend’s younger sister …… there’s also a history that haunts Raf that makes him feel like he’s not good enough but what happened never was his fault …..

Eventually Ellie and Raf give in and stop fighting inevitable and how beautiful to watch their story unfold ❣️there were a few tense moments , some spice and all things nice 😉

Our fisherman and jeweller make a beautiful couple ❣️

This book is book three of the series. It can be read as a standalone. I haven’t read any other books in the series yet but didn’t feel like I was missing anything.

Elle has had feelings for Raf for so long. She knows he’s one of her brothers best friends and is sure she’s invisible to Raf that way. Raf really struggles with his feelings for Elle. He knows she deserves better than him. What could it hurt to lay his feelings on the line? Just as Raf decides maybe he and Elle can make it work, his past comes back to haunt him. Is Elle in danger due to her connection to Raf?

I enjoyed this book. There was quite a bit of suspense and I was on the edge of my seat. I found myself really rooting for Raf and Elle. Their story was well written and I enjoyed being along for the ride.

What a wonderfully immersive story! I was immediately plunged into these two and their hidden desire of each other. I enjoyed each of the characters and their secret desire. One is considered forbidden fruit..the other is just confused. He is the older brothers best friend tasked with protecting her. She is tired of secretly longing after him with no desired results.

Overall I loved the vibe of the story! Great friends, wonderful townies and an element of danger. Perfect on all fronts! I read it quickly and wanted more! This is the first book I have read by this author. She wrote intriguing characters and has an interesting storyline. I can see me reading more of her stories.

Wow this book was such a great read and a wonderful story! This book surrounded Ellie who is a shop owner who works super hard for her money selling goods that she creates and who has a major crush on her brother’s best friend, Raf. Raf is a fisherman who has had the duty to protect and watch over his best friend’s sister who has a troubled past and does not believe he is worthy of love. The way that their love story was told, and how they interacted with each other made it where I did not put this book down. I could not stop reading this as there was a HUGE twist in the end and I needed to know what happened. Reading this book out of order did not disrupt the story line, it read as a standalone story. Into the Light is an emotional romantic tale. It is a best friend’s little sister theme and is sweet with some suspense and with mystery as to what is hiding in the dark at Moon Harbor. I enjoyed the characters and soon found myself invested in them. Rafael has become my newest book boyfriend.

I did feel as though there were a few questions at times and at times the story felt a bit rushed but despite this I really enjoyed the story. I realised when I had finished this book that it is the third book in this series but I did not feel as if I was missing out on not having read the first two books. I will go back and read them though.

This friends to lover’s tale has danger, suspense, mystery, steamy and sexy chemistry and romance that is hot, hot, hot oh and let’s not forget the gifted dirty talk.

I look forward to see where Kate takes us next.

Into the Light was really good! An unexpected start to me, I’m used to more of a build up in best friend/sister romances. But in saying that I really enjoyed the story the author put together. not only a bonding romance but a story of redemption for one of the main characters as well.
Ellie and Raf are drawn to one another but there are certain obstacles and circumstances that are keeping them from telling each other. Ellie wants him to see her more than his best friend’s little sister, but she can’t come out and say it. Raf adores Ellie more than she realizes, so what’s holding him back? Not being good enough, best friend’s little sister, perhaps?
What happens when someone tries to hurt Ellie?
Does Raf finally let his barriers down?
Does Ellie take what she wants?
This book, though quick in pace, may have you frustrated with the characters at times. These two main characters are definitely extremely stubborn, they want but they won’t take. Two characters that were written with quite a bit of depth that I want more of.
I’m a sucker for a good romance novel, and this author sucked me in. Hooked, lined, and sunk. Now it’s time to discover other books by this author, while you check out this one.
