Endless Night (Dylan Hart Book 2) by R.M. Gilmore – Review by Bobbi Wagner

Endless Night (Dylan Hart #2)Endless Night by R.M. Gilmore
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the second book in this series and I loved it just as much if not more than the first book. One of the things I enjoy about this author’s writing is how she creates details that make me feel as if I am part of the story. I have no problem connecting with the characters. If you have not read the first book, I highly suggest it as it will help get to know the characters more. The lovable Dylan is back in this story and headed to New Orleans this time. She is dealing with vampires and this time we add voodoo and curses to it. Dylan is still my favorite with the sassy attitude and humor it really just makes her a well rounded character. I highly recommend this must read book and this series.

The Scene (Dylan Hart #1)The Scene by R.M. Gilmore
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this book and the edge sitting suspense-paranormal it brings. This is a book that had me turning pages fast and kept me engaged throughout the story. I was pulled right into the story from the beginning. This is a fast pace story that I read in one sitting. The characters made me feel as if I was right there with them. Dylan is a journalist that takes on an assignment of a lifetime until it turns dangerous. The question remains if she will survive? How many more will turn up dead? Could the murderer really be a vampire? I loved Dylan’s character, she is full of attitude and she doesn’t care what anyone thinks of her. She is strong and seems to get herself in danger easily. She makes the story for me and I highly recommend her story.

Prophecy Girl (Camille Bishop Book 1)Prophecy Girl by Ravin Tija Maurice
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Prophecy Girl (Camille Bishop Book 1) by Ravin Tija Maurice is a murder mystery paranormal urban fantasy story that has a little of everything to draw you in. There are a lot of characters in this book and Ravin did a good job of setting the scene and writing them as people and bringing them to life. It is a story full of emotions but the unpredictable makes it hard to put down.

The world in which Camille lives is anything but normal as she soon discovers as she ventures into her role as a PI. She learns that life is not as black and white as she believed and those she can trust are few in numbers. Not only that but she has to come to terms with who she is and what those around her want with her new powers.

Prophecy Girl has set the scene for what is to come from this author.

Jax Marlin – To Catch A Marlin by T. K. Toppin. I always love when I find a new author that makes me a fan . This book had everything I was looking for in a great read. I had moments of laughing out loud and times of being on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. I like the balance the author gave this story. The characters truly draw readers into the story and the storyline keeps you going deeper. Even the smallest details are well written and make you want to sit back and watch this book come alive right before you eyes. The storyline is well written and paced nicely. I’m excited to read more from this author and I’m really glad I found this book and author. Five stars all the way and highly recommended!

Jax Marlin – To Catch a Marlin was an interesting 4 star read.

This story is set in the future. Pedroni is an officer and is assigned to look for a vigilante (Jax) that has taken things into their own hands when it comes to criminals.

Jax is the vigilante that Pedroni is looking for. But of course she doesn’t see herself that way, she is going after terrible people which stems from something in her past. When they meet, there is an instant connection between them. As Pedroni gets to know Jax he starts to struggle with right and wrong and starts to understand why she is doing what she is. I liked how Jax was leaving things for Pedroni. What will Jax do in the end? Will he let his feelings get in the way?

There is so much more to this great read.
I was drawn in by both characters and really loved each of them. Jax is a strong mysterious woman who can take care of herself. Pedroni was great as well. We get suspense, danger, and so much more. The author pulls you right in with her writing and you feel like you’re right there with the characters. All of the secondary characters were great. I will warn that there are some scenes that could cause triggers for some. I look forward to reading more in this series.

Jax Marlin: To Catch a Marlin is the first book in the To Catch a Marlin Series by T.K Toppin. This is my first read from this author and I was not disappointed. This book is a cat and mouse but in a sci-fi story. I really enjoyed the interaction between the characters and how the chase added to the story. Jax Marlin is a vigilante in the 24th century and has decided she must stop four criminals from forming an alliance. Will Jax Marlin get to them first or will Special Inspector Michael Pedroni?
This is a well thought out story and I look forward to what is to come next in this series. If I am to judge by the first book this will be a great series.

Jax Marlin to catch a Marlin By T.K. Toppin is a futuristic crime novel about a female Vigilante Jax Marlin and Inspector Pedroni who is determined to catch her. Pedroni chases Jax into space literally to try and find her. There’s a little romance, plenty of action and a great story line. Jax is the perfect Vigilante she has a tragic past but is still confident and capable her only weakness seems to be the growing feelings she has for “her copper” Inspector Pedroni. Inspector Michael Pedroni is a stickler for following protocol and catching the bad guy and he can’t help but feel and attraction to the Sexy Vigilante who is always one step ahead. If you love crime novels with a futuristic sc-fi theme you will really enjoy this book.

Toppin does a masterful job of creating an interesting and engaging plot line. Also her characters are fully developed and easy to imagine in your mind’s eye. I really like the character Jax Marlin. She is a strong female character, who technically is a criminal but she is a vigilante. I love the adventure that Toppin took me on with Jax Marlin and add in Special Inspector Michael Pedroni to really heat up the pursuit. Will Special Inspector Pedroni find Jax Marlin before she finds the new alliance in town or will he stop the pursuit? You will have to read this book to find out what happens.

The story is based in the future on Earth as well as other worlds beyond. As you read of Jax’s past, the reader can understand why she takes criminal matters into her own hands. Jax is a character I quickly began to fall in love with a strong lead female character. Then the mystery of Jax and Pedroni’s relationship begins to develop. Why is Jax leaving criminals for Pedroni to discover? Why is Pedroni not able to restrain Jax when he had the chance? SPOILER: This story contains some dark subject matter and may be triggering to anyone that’s dealt with sexual assault.

Jax Marlin-To Catch a Marlin is a story about overcoming your past. Set in the future, this is the story of Jax-a vigilante, and Pedroni-the Inspector in charge of capturing her. After a traumatic childhood, Jax is determined to right wrongs and make criminals pay. Pedroni is a cop from a long line of cops and just can’t understand why people take the law into their own hands. After much fighting, destruction, and chasing-they realize they are not that different and they’ve come to love each other.

I liked the overall premise, but for me this book was just ok. I’m sure that it’s just a matter of personal preference and others would greatly enjoy the story. 3 stars.

Wow, where do I even start with this novel, Jax Marlin – To Catch A Marlin by TK Toppin??? I suppose it should go without saying, but the cover to this book is what drew me in. The bright and loud attention grabbing face right there lures you in to find out what this book could possibly be all about. I have never read anything from TK Toppin prior to this so I went in blind solely based off the cover and a few teasers I had come across my feed. I am glad that I did because this novel really sucked me in on an unexpected adventure to the future.

This book really has a bit of everything in it, creating a perfect novel to most people. I loved how the sci-fi futuristic things were not only unexpected but felt very realistic and possible. I found myself feeling as if I was right there in whatever world our author has created for that moment, along with the characters as they experience things first hand. I had not expected it but I loved it. Then throw in the cat and mouse mystery and you literally are on the edge of your seat from beginning to end to find out what will happen and how things will all come to a conclusion. I am so excited to also find out that there will be more, some already available to read, in this series. I look forward to getting lost in them soon and am anxious to find out what else TK Toppin has available to read.

The story Jax Marlin – To Catch A Marlin is an amazing book to read. The story has action, danger, and a game of cat and mouse that is being played between the two main characters. I loved reading about Jax Marlin. She is called a vigilante; however, she sees herself as someone who finds and stops criminals her own way. She is intelligent, independent, strong, and beautiful. Special Agent Michael Pedroni is the one that has vowed to bring Jax in. As a Special Agent, he believes that her methods can be dangerous for those who are around when she strikes. However, Michael is questioning the difference in her justice and his. Will Michael be successful in apprehending Jax? What does the future hold for Jax and Michael? Read this book to find out. This is a story that does get emotional at times and I really felt for both Michael and Jax. I grew to care about both of them each chapter that I read. The story does have some steamy moments and moments that I was on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. Some of the additional characters only care about themselves and their plans. Will they succeed? Don’t miss out on a story that is an adventure that doesn’t stop until the last page. I highly recommend reading it.

In the tail end of the 24th Century, Special Inspector Michael Pedroni pursues Jax Marlin, a beautiful and elusive vigilante. It’s a wild cat and mouse chase that will take him from Earth to the Bacchus Dome and beyond.

Jax Marlin is not your average criminal. She seeks out evil-doers and law-breakers, doling out justice in whatever way she sees fit. But lately, she finds she’s been gift-wrapping criminals specially for her favorite copper.

Four of the world’s leading criminals are lining up to form an alliance. Jax is determined to stop them. Hot on her heels, Inspector Pedroni finds himself questioning the difference, if any, between her justice and his. More than that, he wonders why, when he’d had her in his grasps, he was unable to slap on the restraints and bring her in.

You know how “they” say not to judge a book by its cover? Well JAX MARLIN – TO CATCH A MARLIN would be a very difficult book to do that with. The graphic gives no hint as to what the story could be about and the blurb gives only a little hint as to what is found between the covers of this story.

What IS between the covers is a well developed story with great world building and a fully thought out story. It is a story of suspense and intrigue and futuristic developments. A vigilante, a detective and lots of moving parts keep a great this book interesting from beginning to end.

This is the first time I’ve read this author and I look forward to reading more.

Jax Marlin: To Catch a Marlin is the first book in the To Catch a Marlin Series by T.K Toppin. This is my first book by Ms. Toppin- and I was seriously blown away by her fantastic story. She definitely got my attention, and has me excited to read the rest of the series. There are several more books in the series, available now- which I will be diving into asap- because if this first book is anything to go by, the rest of the series is set to be quite an exciting and fun ride.
This is an addictive futuristic sci-fi adventure story- with mystery, suspense, action, thrills, and so much more. It’s like an old Noir detective story crossed with a vigilante graphic comic, then set in the future with spaceships, and all the futuristic technology. I was hooked before I had even begun to read the story. The incredibly beautiful, and quite intriguing cover instantly had my attention- then when I read the blurb, there was no question if I would read it- it was an instant one-click for me.
I was soon caught up in all the intriguing development and action as it unfolded- following along to discover what would happen. Ms. Toppin’s world building skills are quite masterful, creating complex landscapes and ‘world/s’ in which to set her story. Her attention to detail is superb- crafting a world with its own unique flavour and feel- with advanced technology, transportation (both on-world and off-world), and incredible futuristic settlements/metropolis’. She has such a ‘visual’ quality to her writing- a dynamic feel that sets her story apart from others in the same genre.
I really recommend this story, especially to those who love a great cat and mouse mystery- all wrapped up in a sci-fi wrapper. What’s not to love?
Brilliant!

Thank you, Ms. Toppin!

Diamonds & Deception (Karina Cardinal Mystery Book 3) by Ellen Butler was an excellent read. I loved how the author opens up the story at the beginning. I also loved that this novel can be read as a standalone. The storyline was inspiring, mysterious, and fun. It easily flowed from start to finish and kept my attention. I enjoyed the various characters and how much thought went into them. They were realistic and developed well. I do love strong female leads, and a good mystery is always a winner with me. In Diamonds & Deception by Ellen Butler we get both. This is an excellent little mystery. It is my first Karina Cardinal Mystery Story, but I can tell you it won’t be my last. Although Karina is the star of our show her sister Jillian is every bit in the thick of this as Karina. The dialogue and the interaction between the sisters in this book is spot on., and even better than all of that is the “story within the story”. I always love that. This sweet little mystery is well worth your time.

Diamonds & Deception (Karina Cardinal Mystery, #3)Diamonds & Deception by Ellen Butler
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Diamonds and Deception by Ellen Butler is book three of the Karina Cardinal Mystery series. This book has a little bit of everything. It’s got danger, mystery, suspense and so much more. This book can be read as a standalone but for the full experience – recurring character introductions and backstories – I encourage you to read the first two books.

Karina is fiercely independent and recently her friend Mike has taken their relationship from friendship to relationship and they seem to have hit a rough patch. Karina is determined not to call Mike for help however she seems to attract trouble. When her sister calls her to help a friend, this time doesn’t seem to be any different. Karina and Jillian find themselves deep in a mystery that leaves them with a lot of questions. Will Karina call Mike for help when trouble inevitably strikes?

This book was enjoyable to read. It has a pretty quick pace and let you wondering what was gong to happen. I recommend it!

This is the next amazing book in a series I have loved from the first story. It had me on the edge of my seat wondering what will happen next. Karina Cardinal is back. She finds herself helping out a friend of her sister, Jillian. She soon finds herself caught up in a mystery that she was not expecting. Read this book to find out the full story. This mystery will keep you guessing and turning pages. There are many characters in this story. Some of them are helpful to Karina, some have their own agenda and will do anything to make sure their plans succeed, and some make you wonder whose side they are on. The book pulled me into story and I didn’t want to put it down. The author has done a wonderful job in making the characters come alive and the story unforgettable. Diamonds & Deception (Karina Cardinal Mystery, #3)Diamonds & Deception by Ellen Butler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I give Diamonds & Deception (Karina Cardinal Mystery Book 3) by Ellen Butler, 5 stars.

This is one of those series where I forget just how good it is until I pick up the next book. I absolutely love Karina. She is fun, quirky, real, has a big heart and so likeable. I would love to have her as a best friend. This time, she tries to stay out of things but gets pulled in by her sister. You can’t say no family. But she has learned from her past experiences. She asks for help from the guys at Silverthone Security. These guys are great too, I would love to see more about each of them — maybe a book dedicated to them? Karina, her sister, and the security guys try to get to the bottom of things to find who is really guilty and just what is really going on.

Besides the characters, the story itself is so compelling. It begins when Katrina’s sister Jillian attends a fashion show with her coworker. The night ends abruptly when the coworker is accused of stealing diamonds and arrested. Now they have to figure out if she is guilty, not to mention prove it. This would be enough for some mystery/suspense books. But wait, there’s more! They later discover something even more sinister is going on and find themselves thrown right into it. There were a few times I thought the book may soon be over, only to realize there was much more to go. The the author switching gears on us and leading us in a different direction is done so smoothly and so effectively it kept me from putting the book down.

I highly recommend this series and book to those who like real, strong female characters in their whodunnit/suspense books.

What an incredible story! Somehow it managed to have all my favorite things…Pirates?! For Real. Jax Marlin is intelligent, tough and sexy. Michael Pedroni is a cop with a weary edge to him but honest and focused. It’s his job to bring her in. This story was a great adventure, suspense, action, deep introspection. Everything that makes a story good and unforgettable. The main characters are thoughtfully crafted, and have you hooked in at the get go. The main supporting characters are just as carefully crafted. So well described you have no difficulty picturing them. There is plenty of action packed scenes in this book and they are all artfully and thoroughly thought out. This doesn’t feel like an off the cuff story, this feels like and reads like an art form. I love strong female characters and Jax does not disappoint. Not gonna lie, I think I am a big fan of Jax Marlin and I will be looking for more adventures with her. If you’re looking for a good solid read with a wild ride, this is the book for you. You will not regret it.

Not only was it exciting and intriguing I also found it to be quite amusing as well. I loved the main characters. They had such life about them.
The overall story was interesting and well developed. This was a new author to me and I can definitely say I am excited to read more.
