The Final Bite by Naomi Valkyrie – Review by Jennifer Gordon

The Final BiteThe Final Bite by Naomi Valkyrie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

An enjoyable and engaging MM paranormal romance, which had me hooked from start to finish.
The main character, vampire Quinnlan Trinity, has been chosen by the gods to have a second chance at life. This only happens every ten years and those from the paranormal world are only chosen if they had been unjustly killed. The only problem is they have to find and take a mate within three days, or they go back to paranormal purgatory, oh and the person they choose has to accept them! When Quinnlan finds himself at an abandoned motel in the middle of nowhere with only three days worth of clothes and a wad of cash, he wonders if the gods are playing a trick on him.
With two days left he comes across a guy bleeding out after a group of wolf shifters attacked him, Quinnlan wants to save his life but by doing so the guy would have to be his mate, and he then risks rejection. He could be dooming himself to a trip back to the afterlife, but can he walk away knowing that he could have saved him, and after all, he could actually be the one. The descriptive narrative really brought the characters and setting vividly to life, making me feel immersed in the story. The storyline flowed well and the plot twists kept me happily turning the pages. This was an original and intriguing story and I definitely recommend reading it.

Short and sweet. The story was fun for me, Garrett’s mom getting ready to marry the alpha from a wolf pack and his dad being dead, but was his dad really dead? The concept of Quinnlan getting a second chance by the Gods is interesting, I really wanted a longer story, especially with the romance with Garrett finally coming to fruition. I also liked the fact that Garrett wasn’t deterred really by Quinnlan’s confession about who he is because he already believes. So many great aspects to this story, it was so interesting I wanted more!

Happy Halloween my spooky friends and what a wonderful time to read this book! I’m pretty sure this is my first read by this author and I really felt captivated from beginning to end. I’m so excited to delve into other stories from this talented creator! This book really pulled me in and kept me interested until the end- the premise of only having 3 days to find your mate (plus all the other rules) in order to avoid purgatory is a really fun idea. I’m excited to read other works by this author to see what other twists and turns they could put me through because this book really was such fun. I loved the MCs. The cover was drool worthy on it’s own and is most of the reason I picked up this book! Loved it and I’m about to go read some more! Check it out y’all.

The Final Bite was good! A short paranormal romance. I actually didn’t realize I was almost done till I saw the bottom of the screen. It went really fast.
3 days. 3 days is all the gods will give to find a mate otherwise it’s banishment to purgatory. Dropped in the middle of nowhere Quinnlan has been left in a motel with 3 outfits to complete the task. A Vampire, that has been told he can use his powers of influence. Which makes things more difficult.
Of course I relate to Quinnlan because he’s selfless. Giving up his right to choose and his mate’s right to accept him, to save his life. He risks purgatory to save someone near death.
Garrett has just had a bomb dropped on him and doesn’t know how to handle it. Saved by a gorgeous vampire who wants him to be his mate.
What does he choose?
Does Quinnlan succeed in his task?
This story felt a bit rushed, however looking past that the concept though different worked.
If you enjoy paranormal short story mm romances, this book is for you.

“Remember what I said about the gods giving me a fighting chance? I take it back. This must be some new method of torture cooked up to break the monotony of their immortality. Let’s dangle a second chance in front of Quinnlan and then make it near impossible for him to obtain it. Wasn’t being murdered by my sister torture enough? Greedy b…..
Bah! There’s no use having a pity party. It won’t change the situation. I’m just going to have to play the hand the gods dealt me. Pulling myself together, I head back to the motel to strategize. There must be some way to find a mate here. I have to believe that, or I’ll end up wasting this opportunity drowning in bitterness and sorrow. ”

“We have an eternity to explore each other after we save the day.”

The Final Bite by Naomi Valkyrie is a fantastic paranormal MM romance. Another feather in Ms. Valkyries cap. She has such a vivid and abundant imagination, which she uses to weave wonderfully dynamic stories, bringing us something new, each and every time. She seems to have a limitless well of imagination and inspiration just waiting for her to release into the world for us to enjoy. Ms. Valkyrie never ceases to amaze me with her highly original storylines that all manage to have their own identity, but also capture her unique touches that add a special quality to all her work.
This is another cleverly woven paranormal MM romance, with second chances, vampires, wolf shifters, action, mysteriousness, agendas, chemistry, family, hope, murder, a sinister foe, emotion, humour, fun, banter, and even a haunted house. The story is set on Halloween, which adds an element of mysteriousness to the story.
“Every ten years, the gods choose a paranormal being who has been unjustly killed and offers them a second chance at life. But this second chance comes with a catch, as set out by the rules imposed by the Gods.
1. You have 3 days to choose a mate.
2. You cannot use your powers to directly influence your potential mate.
3.You can only choose one person….If the potential mate rejects you then you go back to purgatory.
4. You must reveal the truth of the challenge to your potential mate.”
Easy peasy, right? Well not really when you are ‘dropped off’ in the middle of nowhere with the clock ticking on your second chance. No one wants to be flung back into purgatory…. Will Quinnlan find his mate in time? Or will circumstances force Quinn to put his second chance at risk? This is definitely worth the read to find out how it all plays out in the end…
I can’t wait to see what Ms. Valkyrie has in store for us next…
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Naomi Valkyrie!

I am a sucker for a great vampire book and when I noticed that this one came out, I immediately had to add this to my list of books to read. I was FLOORED at the way the authors wrote and the story that was unfolding for the main character. The premise of this book was not one that I had not heard of in other stories, and I was very interested. I devoured this book super quick and was excited and loved this book. It is getting added to my list of books that I will go back and reread when I cannot find another book that I want to start. I cannot wait to read more books by this author!

I found this story to be a short and redeeming story of second chance love. It is nice to see a story like this in the paranormal world. The writing is quite thoughtful. The characters are well-developed and I found they paired up well. Overall, I really enjoyed the story.

I was so excited when I saw Naomi had a new book out and couldn’t wait to get started. The Final Bite is a paranormal fantasy romance story. Her stories just keep getting better and better and like I say with each book this is my favourite so far.

Naomi’s is a talented writer where her word skills, along with her wonderful characters that she brings to life are original and delightful. Her attention to details and world building is richly vivid and easily imagined. I love that you never know what you are going to get from Naomi and her out of the norm storytelling.

I read this in one sitting as it was so good and I just could not put it down. I can’t wait to see where Naomi takes us next.

If you love good out of the norm paranormal romances then definitely check this out.

The Final Bite by Naomi Valkyrie
Genre – MM Romance, Paranormal, Vampire
Cover Designer – Leeah Taylor

Every ten years, the gods choose a paranormal being who has been unjustly killed and offers them a second chance at life. The catch? They must take a mate, and they only have three days to do it.

Oh, and they can only choose once. If the person they choose for a mate rejects them – it’s straight back to paranormal purgatory.

Fortunately for me, I, Quinnlan Trinity, am the chosen one.

Unfortunately for me, the trickster gods must have gotten into the mix because they drop me at an abandoned motel in the middle of nowheresville with three days’ worth of clothing, sans underwear, and a wad of cash. Seriously?

I’ve got two days left when I find a guy bleeding out, thanks to a suspicious group of wolf shifters. I could save him, but if I do, that means choosing him as my mate and risking rejection. Is he the one? Or, by saving him, am I dooming myself to a trip back to the afterlife?

A gumball, that’s right a gumball is all it took for Lockwood’s world to be set on its side. The book has love, humor, good guys, bad guys, shifters, fae, a sea witch, an oracle and a bit of suspense mixed with a whole lot of humor. As Lockwood and Rex’s relationship is explored there were a few places in the book where it took me a minute to realize there had been a small jump in time, but it in no way distracts from the story. With each facing their own set of challenges will they be able to overcome them and get their happily ever after? This was the first book by Naomi Valkyrie that I have read but I will definitely be reading more and hoping to see more of this world. I absolutely recommend.

Lockwood King is just a young man trying to find his place in the world, he has a steady job as a barista with his best friend, but he still lives with his parents. One day he has been working late and is tired, so when he stops for gas, he decides to grab something to keep him awake, but this plan backfires in the most spectacular way.

All he knows is that the next day strange things start to happen to him with no reasonable explanation, things which appear magical even, but as he is trying to figure out what is going on, something equally magical happens, he meets someone who turns his head. As Lockwood is trying to get a handle on things, he finds out more and more about a magical world he never even knew existed, but it is a world which he might have to get used to.

As things progress there are shifters, there is humour, there are mishaps and mayhem, even a cigar smoking octopus called Clyde who turns up out of the blue. Will Lockwood be able to Kew his sanity as his world changed around him, or will outside forces meddle in his life to such an extent that it isn’t even his anymore? This is a hilariously magical paranormal romance, which will keep you laughing throughout as the chaos reigns and mayhem ensues with curses, maybe fated mates and inconvenient tentacles?

Lockwood, AKA Lock, was a normal barista living a 21 year old life still living with his parents. After one ghastly gumball, his life has turned into a different direction. Some of it is good, while some of it is just weird, but turns out interesting. He’s got a boy he is interested in and a best friend who is helping him with all the weird things like Clyde the Octopus! I just love the cigar moments with Clyde lol! It was such a great funny read for a break!

This is perfect for when you want a unique, quirky, quick story. I kinda wish it was longer because I would love to have gotten to know the characters more and to see the romance develop, but that is always how I feel with shorter stories. Lockwood just wants to get home to go to bed and weird things start happening. He is introduced to a whole new world that he didn’t know existed. I am curious to know more about Brix, and Clyde is amazing! This story is M/M, just so people are aware.

This is not only a hilarious read but a truly unique story as well. This author has a wild imagination. The story follows Lockwood King who’s life changes irreversibly after eating a gumball. What follows next is a zany adventure filled with humour, magic, sea witches and tentacles. The characters are delightful and quirky especially the cigar smoking octopus. I would love to read more about these characters. There are so many possibilities to turn this into a series. Hint, hint!

This was such a fun, unique book! I haven’t enjoyed a book this much in a long, long time. It was so unique, I have never read anything like this before. The characters were each individual and had their own personality. They were well-rounded and entertaining. I so want them as friends. The creatures in this book are not ones I have read about before. I really want to see more of the characters — especially Clyde. He is my favorite in this book.

The story itself, is again something I have not seen before. It all revolves around a gumball. Who would think of that? And who in their right mind would think this is perfect! Such a brilliant mind is behind this wonderfully fun, unique, and interesting book. I highly recommend it and need to read more books set in this world.

I have read many books by this author and will always snatch up a book written by her.

In this book, we meet Lockwood, aka Lock, who is leaving work after a long day. On his way home, Lock stops at a gas station to pump gas and then decides to buy a gumball out of a candy machine. The gumball that comes out is black and odd things start to happen to Lock that he can’t explain.

The characters are well written and I connected to them through humor and their interactions. The descriptions of where the book takes place and what’s happening added to not only the story but also to my enjoyment. The author’s creativity is one of my favorite things about reading her books.

First of all, I have to say the cover of this book is outstanding and draws in the reader before you even read the title or the snappy synopsis, but once you do you want to know what the story is inside as well. I am personally a fan of the author and have followed and read her work before so I was anxious to get my hands on this sucker but I would have scooped this up as a new reader instantly based solely on the cover. Secondly, this book is short and fun. It packs a lot of really cool elements like magic and gumballs and octopus and romance and all the things into one neat, fun and relatable package that is fun to disappear into for a short time. I literally feel like I am lost into a whole new world when I read her work and that is the coolest thing ever and I love that. It is vivid and realistic in a way that is tangible. I can’t wait to see what we will get to disappear into next!

The Ghastly Gumball is a quick book, but jam packed with content. It is pretty lighthearted, that will make you chuckle. I was a little bummed when I realized the book wasn’t part of the Life is Hell series (I just assumed due to similar cover art). But despite having a whole new set of characters, I loved the book. I honestly don’t know how the author comes up with these things! I am not typically a fan of the paranormal, so maybe these things are known creatures, but I haven’t heard of most of them. But that doesn’t matter, because the imagery is so great, that I am able to clearly “see” the characters. This book ended much shorter than I excepted, but it had a good ending, things being wrapped up nicely. I would love to see this become a series, as I think Brixley has a story hidden in there- I want to know more about her powers and her on again off again girlfriend.

Fortunately, he’s got his “Best B” Brixley (and handsome new man Rex) to help him acclimatize to the crazy world of magic that he never knew existed. In a series of endearing and unbelievable plot twists, Lockwood may actually get the hang of this thing after all. Please read if you don’t mind a sprinkle of colourful language and a laugh-out-loud plot that zips along at a great pace.
