House Valdis Origins: Xenobia by Naomi Valkyrie – Review by Kerry Carr

House Valdis Origins: Xenobia (House Valdis, #0)House Valdis Origins: Xenobia by Naomi Valkyrie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a great short paranormal story. It takes place before The House Of Valdis. Which is also a great book. It was a gripping story that kept me hooked and I read it in one sitting.

Xenobia lives in a home for slaves. She has shut herself off from people as she always ends up hurt when they leave. That is until Urd  arrives as her room mate. Try as she might she cant help caring for her and their bond is strong.

When they are sold to a master who is very sadistic Xenobia does all she can to protect Urd from harm. And their master takes great joy in seeing the pain and torment in Xenobia when she is unable to do so.

Can Xenobia and Urd escape their master and be free of their torment or will it be too much for them to survive.

It Comes From Within (House Valdis Book 2)
By Naomi Valkyrie
5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading the book It Comes From Within (House Valdis Book 2) by Naomi Valkyrie. It is a story that had me hooked from the very beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. I love the character of Xenobia. She is the head of House Valdis. She also is feeling the strain of that leadership. I love that Xenobia is intelligent, strong, and independent. She is also considerate of those around her and truly cares about them. What will happen when situations begin to overwhelm her? What will happen when the past collides with the future? Read this book to find out. This is a character-driven book. It tells the story from the POV of many of them and you get a chance to find out more about them and the part that they play in the story. For some characters, this is an emotional journey and for others, it is a time of self-discovery. I love fantasy books and this one is a good example of why. The author does an amazing job of making both the storyline and the characters come alive on the pages. I felt like I was right there with them. Don’t miss out on an exciting and entertaining story that you won’t want to put down. I would recommend reading these stories in order for a better experience. You won’t be disappointed.

Dont let the page count fool you. This story packs so much into it that I felt I read a great story in a short amount of time. Not many can pull that off but this author sure did.
Whether you have read anything else by this author or not, this is perfect to get into this world and learn more about Xenobia. This takes place before Rise of the House of Valdis so no matter which order you read them, this is a must read. I cant wait to read more !

House Valdis Origins: Xenobia by Namio Valkyrie is a prequel to the Rise of House Valdis. This is an amazing short story that transports you right back into the gritty world you have already been introduced to. I loved the insight it gave us into Xen and where she came from. And I loved the fact that the author knew exactly how much we needed from this story and how much needed to be held back for the rest of the series.
This book is just brilliant. I was thinking about it long after I had finished reading it and it has just whet my appetite even more for the next book in the series. I would highly recommend this book to anyone.

It Comes From Within (House Valdis #2)It Comes From Within by Naomi Valkyrie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It Comes From Within is the second book in the House Valdis series by Naomi Valkyrie. This is a very engrossing, and complex paranormal fantasy with a multi-layered storyline full of sci-fi elements, action, danger, violence, responsibility, suspense, secrets, vendettas, humour, tension, dramatic developments, romance, chemistry, hidden agendas, and magic.
We met the majority of the cast back in Book One, so it was great to pick up with them again. Xenobia is still trying to come to terms with what occurred (in Book One) and all the added responsibility that brings. Merging the two houses and all the restructuring has taken time and a lot of energy. She is feeling the pressure and isn’t sure how much more she can take. It seems like she’s leaping from one crisis right into another. Then someone begins targeting House Valdis- danger is mounting, with a mysterious and malevolent adversary plotting from the shadows, one who has no intention of playing by the rules and is hell bent on winning at all cost, things escalate pretty quickly. With a lot riding on the outcome- the level of intensity was definitely set on HIGH- I was hanging on every word. I soooo need the next book…. STAT!!!
I really recommend reading the previous book before starting on this one as this isn’t a standalone story, with the storyline bridging from the first book to this one. There is also a Prequel, which will add even more texture and provide important backstory. I loved that this book builds on what we already know, adding more facets to an already intriguing story.
Brilliant!!

Thank you, Naomi Valkyrie!

I give House Valdis Origins: Xenobia by Naomi Valkyrie, 5 stars.

This short story really packs a punch. There is so much in here, and you will really get to know so much about Xen. The author weaves a tale of heartache and determination. You really understand Xen and why she does what she does. It was written in such a gripping way too. I was not able to put it down until I finished.

If you are a fan of wonderfully written science fiction, this book is definitely for you.

I loved this book. It is the second book in this series which I highly suggest reading to help you enjoy this series more. It is great seeing where the characters come from and where they are now. I have read every one of this author’s books, I think this is among my favorites by her. It is a shorter story that I found to be full of action and kept me turning pages fast. Xenobia is back in this book with determination to prove to everyone that she is not like their previous leader. What will happen when a blood den along with some enemies is found? Will it produce memories that are a solution or will they just haunt her? This is such a fast paced story that I lost track of time reading it. The details made it fun, easy and entertaining to read. I highly recommend picking up this book and others by this author today.

It Comes from Within (House of Valdis Book 2) by Naomi Valkyrie

5 +++++ Stars

I must mention before anything else that this genre is NORMALLY not my chosen genre, but this author has taken this to a new level for me and I’m so invested in this whole story and in all of these characters to a point that I already want to go back and read all again. Real life didn’t exist while I read this book. It was leftovers for supper and less sleep than normal. Phenomenal job!!

There are a lot of people to keep track of in this book, a lot of moving parts to keep straight. What Miss Valkyrie did with the different chapters and the many different POV’s allowed me to connect to each character in a way that made this story that much better for me. I was so engrossed in every page that I did have to force myself to slow down so that I could keep everyone and everything compartmentalized. Once I did that and focussed on every word it was, simply put, completely amazing.

This part picks up a little bit after book 1 ended and I’m not going into too much of the storyline because I will not give away anything that will take away the enjoyment of experiencing this story except to say…I would NOT attempt reading this as a standalone, it wont work. You wont understand some of what happens or feel the impacts without book 1. I’ve sat and thought about who my favorite character is next to Xen of course and I can not come up with a favorite besides maybe Matt, he makes me smile. I just love the family feel and the loyalty portrayed in this story.

I can not wait for the next book in this series, the twist in this book was a complete game changer for me and the path Xen has decided to take could make things even more interesting.

House of Valdis Origins: Xenobia (House of Valdis #0) by Naomi Valkyrie is where the story really starts and is the prequel to The Rise of House Valdis book 1. It is a really, really quick read but that doesn’t mean that Naomi has not filled it to the brim with suspense, emotions and everything more. After reading this everything about the first book becomes so much more and gives us an insight we had not seen before. This intense read was easy to get lost in and was over before I knew it. I enjoyed the first book but this one was great, and Naomi is finding her niche and did such a great job of putting it all together.

House Valdis Origins: Xenobia by Naomi Valkyrie. This is not my favorite genre but the 1st book of House Valdis series grabbed me and didn’t let go. I loved it so I was super excited to get to read this book after The Rise of the House Valdis. It was short so I read it in one sitting and it just made me more ready for the 2nd one! This book takes place before the 1st so it explains a lot. I learned a lot more about Xenobia and what all she has been thru. Xenobia doesn’t get close to people but she has become attached to her friend Urd. They bonded over the awful treatment and they are trying so hard to get away. This book is about friendship, drama and adventure. Will Xenobia and Urd survive? Read this book to find out! You won’t be sorry!

Xenobia is raised in a society that treats women like cattle, so she does her best to keep herself, never bringing attention to herself and always obeying by the rules. She certainly doesn’t like to get attached to people.
Then she meets Urd, who becomes her best friend…. But they are then brought by a a man with very extreme sadistic tendencies.
Now, they both go on the run to find safety…….

I really enjoyed this book, full of adventure and a great paranormal story. The characters had me drawn in from the beginning, and with it being a short novel, I was just lost in the pages until the end.
I love paranormal books and this is definitely a great read. I am now going to read more by this author, as it has given me a taste for more.

I have to say that this is a refreshing change to my normal genre. I really found this book to be intersting and was really hooked from the beginning. This is the first book by this author that I have read and I was not let down. The characters really jump right from the pages and I felt as though I was part of the action.

I found the story line to be quite original. The book was filled with drama and just balanced out right with a few twists in the story. I think that this is a great prequel to an existing series that I look forward to reading. I like how you get to understand just where the character is coming from and what has happened to create who they have become. I am glad that in a way I am actually reading a series in the right order. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

House Valdis Origins: Xenobia by Naomi Valkyrie a five-star read that will surprise you. This is a short story that comes before The Rise of House Valdis and I adored that story, so this was sublime, it just gave us a little more background and understanding of the characters. I couldn’t believe I read this so quickly but managed to absorb so much, it shows true talent to be able to pack so much in such a short space and not have it feel like just a dressing but let you still feel the characters, still understand them and have a great storyline. If you have read the series still pop back and read this one as it really will add to the story.

This is a prequel novella to The Rise of House Valdis. It introduces us to Xenobia and gives us a better understanding as to why she is the way she is. Where she comes from, the women are not treated well. It is best to obey the rules. She finally makes a friend and needing to protect her, Xenobia prepares a plan for escape. She learns the hard way that even the best laid plans can go wrong. My only issue with this book was that it wasn’t long enough. I think the author could have explained more about what Xenobia is or why she seems to be the only one that’s blue.

Yes, this short story was awesome! This book is a sort of opening for the book The Rise of the House Valdis. We get a little insight into Xenobia and Urd and how they meet and become friends. My heart breaks for both girls as they have a sweet friendship and Xenobia is always looking after and trying to protect Urd, and what befalls them makes me sad. I enjoyed this story. I have not yet had the pleasure of reading the rest of the series yet, but, because of reading this story, the girls, how they met, the life they have to life and the word they come from, I am definitely going to go read the rest of the series. Although it is not my typical genre, the way the the author writes has pulled me in and now I have to find out what happens next!

House of Valdis Origins: Xenobia (House of Valdis #0) is the prequel to the House of Valdis series by Naomi Valkyrie. This book is a super quick and easy read. But don’t be fooled. There is quite a lot packed into a small package- in a great way.
I really enjoyed The Rise of House Valdis (Book #1) and after getting to the end of that story I really needed to know so much more about the characters and backstory- I was so curious and itching for more details, which this book does a great job of providing- filling in much of what I needed to know.
The story may have taken me less than 20 minutes to read but manages to span more than 12 months- with the intensity, suspense, and emotional depth of a much longer novel. It never felt rushed or cut short in any way. But having said that, I am completely fascinated by the “world” and characters Ms. Valkyrie has created- and I am greedy- so I would love to have read a longer version of this story ‘cos that’s how us needy and greedy readers roll lol. 😊
From Xen’s blue skin and sharp fangs, to her resilience, strength, and determination- she is completely fascinating. Her plight in this book was quite heart-wrenching and helped me understand her so much better. Finding out where she came from, and what she went through made for a riveting read, whilst helping to put everything from Book One in greater perspective.
I am completely captivated and sooo hooked on this series now, and I truly cannot wait to get my hands on the next book!
Fantastic!

Thank you, Naomi Valkyrie!

This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites by her. It is a shorter paranormal story that took me on an adventure that kept me turning pages to the end. This is a well developed story that has characters that made the story easy to read. I had no issues connecting to them as they brought the story to life for me. This story takes place before The Rise of House Valids which is just as awesome as this book and I highly suggest reading it. Xenobia is a female who does her best not to bring attention to herself and she certainly does not get close to anyone. Then she meets Urd and she opens herself and they become best friends. They are both bought by a nasty man. They decide to run and find safety and maybe even the underground movement. What will happen to them? Will they learn the price of their rebellion? I loved these characters. They are strong and determined. They really just made the story for me. They pulled me into their story with ease and kept it engaging. I loved watching Xenobia grow throughout the story. I highly recommend reading this book and this author.

YES!! I was so excited to get my hands on this short but packed full of everything I didn’t even know I needed after reading the 1st of this series. I wasn’t even completely aware of all the questions I had after reading The Rise of House Valdis. What I really liked was that even though this comes before that part it worked perfectly reading it after.

This is a super short story but didn’t feel that way. I think I read it in about 15 – 20 minutes but the content made it feel like a full length novel. It was so easy to get lost in, I had to slow down my reading. It was intense and I could almost see it all happening, I loved that remembering back to the 1st book I always wondered when Xen’s inner dialogue would mention Urd, Now I understand.

Normally I would say I needed more, but in this case the time jumps were perfect and it gave me everything I needed with none of the unneeded fluff. I can not wait for book 2 of this series and I might even read this and the first again before that.

Awesome story, awesome series and this author is simply amazing!! She has taken a genre I don’t normally choose and has made me completely anxious for the next!

Absalom is in college and falls on hard times when his girlfriend kicks him out. To help him Vashti offers him a place to stay but with certain conditions.

When his friend Simeon finds himself also homeless his friend offers him a home but could this be one person to many. Can Vashti’s secret remain secret or will one of her lodgers let it sleep.

This was a gripping story with a huge twist at the end that I didn’t see coming.
