My goodness I am torn about this book! First of all I love Natalina Reis and all of her books so when I saw this new friends to lovers book with the gorgeous cover I jumped right in without so much as a second glance or blink at the blurb. I truly wanted to love this book and ultimately I did enjoy it, but I just didn’t love it. I had the absolute hardest time wanting to give Kyle a chance from the moment he married the Livie’s enemy. Let’s face it ladies, most of us are not going to put up with that kind of childish and petty behavior no matter how good the love and reasoning is behind it. So I suppose, once I swallowed my opinions and gave the story line a chance I was able to appreciate this as a new twist to an age old love equation such as friends to lovers. My love for Livie’s personality also kept me reading to find out what all she would take and not take. While this was not my favorite of Ms. Reis’ s novels I still find the writing and the ability to keep me reading keeps this at a strong four star read. I will be back for more for sure and am anxious to see what will be next from Natalina Reis.

Fictional-ish: A Friends to Lovers Romance by Natalina Reis

5 Stars

Love a good friends to lovers romance and this one was a bit different as it spanned many miles and much time apart and hurdles that made this story unique.

Scotland has always been somewhere I want to visit someday and this book took me there and made me feel as if I was there. Livie moved there to open a new bookstore and she had everything, well almost everything..She left her best friend who in her mind betrayed her beyond repair and as she tried to build a new life Kyle and the hurt he caused her was never far from her mind.

I loved this story, every part of it..I even loved to despise Mia and cant help it but I fell head over heels for Cal and cant help but hope that just maybe this author will let this story continue and let Cal and even Jenny have their own stories.

This is not my first book by this author and absolutely will not be my last. I love the way her words flow and grab a hold and not let go till the very last page.

I highly recommend this story and really anything by this author.

Loved it!!

I am a big fan of this author and was excited to read a rom com written by her.

This is a story that “on paper” checks all of my boxes. The blurb was right up my alley. In fact it felt oddly familiar as this happened to a couple of friends of mine.

I struggled with this book for a couple of reasons but if I told you why, I would be giving things away so I am going to “vague post” this review….

Don’t you hate when you hear that someone had really bad timing when admitting something and then expected things to turn into the fairytale? Me too. BEFs are real y’all.

This is a well written story and even though i found both MCs super annoying at times. The supporting characters were wonderful and i loved their support and encouragement.

I must admit that I read this story in accents – both Scottish and Australian and my accents are horrible. Lol

Fictional-ish by Natalina Reis is a sweet friends to Lovers romance. Sometimes you don’t know what you have right in front of you until it’s too late and gone.

Livie and Kyle’s story is sweet even with the bumps in the road they have to deal with. They have known each other since they were little and have been inseparable since, that is until Kyle is an idiot.

As much as I loved Kyle and Livie I think I loved Jenny just a little more. She made me laugh or smile several times.

I would love a follow up or to see Jenny end up with her own story. I think that would be a great story to read.

This is an great story! I enjoyed reading it. There are a ton of ups and downs and a couple times I wasn’t sure everything was going to turn out alright. The story held my interest and I love the easy going writing style of this author. The characters were fun and lovely. If I could only get that Scottish or Australian accent right in my head it would be perfect! Livie is the star of the book. Her secret love/best friend has just decided to marry her worst enemy. I think Livie does the right thing by moving to another place. That would be the fastest way to accomplish recovery. Sadly everything she is running from….follow her to Scotland. So now she really has to figure out how to deal with her problems. Jenny was a great secondary character. (Well Cal too) I loved how she is always there and avail to help Livie whether it’s business or personal. Yet she never overstepped those boundaries.
Another amazing story by Natalina Reis.

Fictional-ish: A Friends to Lovers Romance by Natalina Reis is a book I just fell in love with. I knew right from the moment I read the description that this book was going to be good, and knowing this author I knew her work to always be well done. But this book really has to be my favourite one I have read by her so far.
I loved that it had a basis in Scotland. Being from the UK I felt like that detail really helped me to connect more with the characters and the stories.
And let’s face it, who wouldn’t want to run away to an “exotic” country to open a book shop?
Kyle and Livie were brilliant characters. I found myself really hoping they would find a way.
This book was well written, it had great pace and I found myself devouring it one sitting. I would highly recommend this book.

The story Fictional-ish by Natalina Reis is a wonderful romantic comedy that I loved reading. It drew me in from the beginning and I found myself lost in the story. I loved reading about the characters of Livie and Kyle. They are best friends. Livie is in love with Kyle and has always hoped that he would realize this. Then Kyle marries her childhood nemesis, Mia. Heartbroken Livie is moving on and this includes moving to Scotland and opening a bookstore. What will happen when Kyle’s married life derails? Will he turn to Livie and hope for forgiveness? There is still an attraction and chemistry between them. They can’t stop thinking about each other. Is that enough to restart their love? What does the future hold for Livie and Kyle? Read this book to find out. This story is humorous, romantic, and fun to read. You can’t help but care about Livie and Kyle and want them to be happy. There are lighthearted moments and also ones that made me wonder what was going to happen next. Don’t miss out on a story that will have you turning pages all the way to the end. Highly recommended reading.

Fictional-ish by Natalina Reis is a romantic comedy. This story is the epitome of the story of friends and life shifts the dynamic of their relationship, whether for better or worse. I found the opening scenes in this story to be wonderfully set and certainly the right essence to pull the reader into the story to find out what happens to the characters as they progress chapter to chapter. Kyle and Livie had such a fun friendship/relationship in this story and I loved the creative ways the author drove into that. However, no story is ever easy and there is definitely drama and unexpected events that occur that shift the story in a direction no one anticipated. Grab this story and delve into whether Kyle and Livie’s friendship can survive or if everything will be left behind.

Snow Jewel (Jewel Chronicles Book #2) by Natalina Reis – Review by Angela Hayes

5 Stars

Snow Jewel is the second fascinating addition to the Jewel Chronicles by Natalina Reis. There is so much happening in this brilliant fantasy- from action, adventure, drama, danger, interracial romance, prejudices, intolerances, superstitions, intrigue, suspense, Gods/Goddesses, and intriguing twists and turns.

This is the second book in the series and does follow on from the story in book one, so it would be advisable to read the first book before embarking on this journey. The foundations of the storyline, character information and world development/building all begin in Desert Jewel- so having all that information will enhance your reading experience of this story, and allow you a more immersive encounter with the characters and their interesting world.

I really enjoyed Desert Jewel, so I was pleasantly surprised when I found that the second book had been released. I wasn’t sure where Ms. Reis was going to take us with this story, but I was excited to find out and I have to say that I enjoyed it just as much as the first one.

Ms. Reis writes beautifully, and her talent is very apparent throughout the book. The characters are charming and endearing, and the world in which the book is set is vibrant, with exquisitely detailed imagery- I think the characters and wonderful world building are what really sets this story apart from others.

I was captivated by what I was reading, following along to discover how everything would play out. The concept is quite unique, interesting and has been executed beautifully. The author did a great job of infusing quite a lot of emotion, tension and romance into the story.

I can’t wait to see where the story goes in the next book- the third and final instalment of this wonderful series!

Thank you, Ms. Reis!

Heart’s Prey by Natalina Reis – Review by Jenni Bishop

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Heart’s Prey by Natalina Reis is a dystopian fantasy story. This story will keep you intrigued and the pages turning. I loved the main characters and how even in the midst of the annihilation of the world as they know it they were able to adapt and find happiness. The storyline is different and kept you on your toes and you can picture their trials and tribulations because of Natalina’s writing. In a world that was full of discrimination and segregation and controlled with lies, now becomes one of a fight for their survival and putting that discrimination aside. I am interested to read what Natalina writes next.

Hearts Prey by Natalina Reis – Review by Angela Hayes

Heart's PreyHeart’s Prey by Natalina Reis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Heart’s Prey is a great read from Natalina Reis. I have read a few of Ms. Reis’s books now and she never fails to deliver a story that captivates my attention from beginning to end. This book has a bit of a dystopian feel to it and is a little different from some of her other books I have read. Wonderfully original and beautifully written this Young Adults/New Adults book is a forbidden romance story that gives us an up close and personal look at castes/classes, prejudices, racism, genetic engineering, action, love, friendship, romance, drama, and more.
I enjoyed getting to know Jia and Cees- and following them through their story. They are endearing and well-developed characters who have complex personalities and complicated lives. They live in a world that was destroyed, where things they believed may not be true. Genetically engineered beasts now roam, and danger is an ever-present threat. They are determined to find somewhere safe where they can live. With secrets revealed, their survival at stake, danger around every corner, prejudices, battling long held traditions and beliefs- will they find everything they hope for?
This is quite and intriguing and thought-provoking story that I found to be an unexpected surprise. I don’t really know what I was expecting when I started, but I did know that Ms. Reis would tell great story, which she did- I just didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I have.

Thank you, Ms. Reis!

I read this book in one sitting, so if you are looking for a quick getaway this is the perfect book. The Characters are well written. Ms. Reis storyline is engaging and easy flowing. It made me feel as if I was right there with the characters.
Ana is a cute and quirky romance writer looking for fireman book boyfriend inspiration and she gets more than she expected from Gavin McLeod. Her quest to find imperfection could be the spark that brings to life their chance at happiness, or the burn that could destroy it all. Ana has her own demons she needs to get over or work through in order for Gavin and her to have a chance.
Gavin has his flaws but he owns them and is kind, strong, courageous and so easy to fall in love with. Because of his past he rather only go out with the likes of models and such. But once he meets Ana he’s instantly attracted to her which is a complete surprise to him.

Lavender Fields by Natalina Reis – Review by Jenni Bishop

Lavender FieldsLavender Fields by Natalina Reis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Lavender Fields is the the story of Sky Heavensent who is an angel of death who collects the souls of those recently passed. I really enjoyed this story and the characters were very well written that made you feel for them.

Sky is constantly in trouble with his Archangel Gabriel and seen as a liability and different from other angels. Sky is sent on a mission to harvest his latest soul but little does he know it is that of the one he had just set his eyes and lips on, Caleb Pierce. When Sky realises who is newest soul is, he does the one thing that is forbidden. So when Sky finds himself once again in Gabriel’s spot light he knows this time he is in real trouble. Even though Sky is Heaven bound, he decides he can no longer stay away from the one person who has stolen his heart. When Sky discovers that Caleb is in more trouble than he thought he uncovers a plot that could destroy them all but sky will do everything in his power to stop the evil forces that threatens his very soul and those of the ones he loves.

This an angelic romance with lots of drama and suspense, good and evil, light and dark but it also has humour and love. Joan, Caleb’s sister is endearing and will have you laughing at her antics but you will also be in tears because of the evil that inflicts so much pain on this beautiful angel. This lovely story will touch your heart and the love that knows no bounds.

This book has a different twist and is not your normal angel story. It is a truly beautiful, intriguing and charming story and a quick and easy read.
