My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Of Magic and Scales by Natalina Reis is a quirky story that is MM romance and is full of magic and mayhem, suspense and romance and has many paranormal characters but the man man is a merman. I really enjoyed the world and characters that Natalina has created. It is a fun and easy read that is well written and interesting. I found myself laughing out loud with this feel good romance.

Aiden thought moving far away he could escape magic and magical creatures but his reputation precedes him and he can’t deny what he has tried to shut out and he soon finds himself tangled up in murder and mayhem.

I enjoyed the journey and look forward to reading more.

Of Magic and Scales by Natalina Reis is a sweet, heart warming story that is a mixture of romance and magic. This is a M/M romance with two lovely characters that you will definitely get behind.
Natalina Reis is one of those authors that has a way of creating a lasting story. They always draw you in and keep you reading, right the way through to the last page. The characters in this book are what made it for me. They were so likeable, relatable. Even with the fantasy element. They were such interesting and diverse characters.
The story was also well written. It was developed well and kept moving along nicely. The author’s writing style is soft and engaging and creates a story you won’t want to put down. This is well wroth reading and is one I would suggest you try today!

I loved reading the story Of Magic and Scales by Natalina Reis. It is a book that I found myself not able to put down until I had finished the last page. It is a story that includes magic, magical creatures, mystery, danger, and romance. I loved reading about the characters of Aiden Mercer and Nael Fouchard. Aiden wants to live his life with no complications. Instead, he finds himself in the search for a killer. The search not only takes him away from the relaxed lifestyle he wants, but it also has him meeting Nael. Someone that he finds extremely attractive. Nael is a merman whose life is about protecting his little sister. He has found himself the prime suspect in the murders that are occurring. He has sought the help of Aiden to help him prove his innocence. The chemistry is strong and undeniable between Nael and Aiden. Even with the verbal back and forth between them they can’t help but feel the pull towards each other. What does the future hold for them? Will the killer be caught? Will Aiden and Nael deny their feelings or will they take a chance with each other? Read this book to find out. I grew to love the characters of Nael and Aiden with each chapter that I read. I couldn’t help but want them to be happy. I enjoyed reading the push and pull that plays out between them. Several other characters interact with Aiden and Nael that are wonderful to read about. This is a story that does have some steamy and romantic moments. The book is written in such a way that I felt like I was right there with the characters. This is a story that is entertaining and grabbed my attention from the very beginning. I would highly recommend reading it.

This is not my first book by this author but it is my favorite. It is a well written developed story that has characters that bring the story to life. There are twists and turns that kept me turning the pages just waiting to see what would happen next. Aiden and Neal’s chemistry was awesome. Will they figure out their relationship before they become victims of murder? Bodies are piling up, you don’t want to miss this book. I highly recommend this must read book.

Of Magic & Scales by Natalina Reis Author
With a serial killer on the loose, the baffling mystery of Aiden’s past, and their tenuous budding romance, Aiden and Fouchard tread through a world of magic and myth on padded shoes, terrified to stir up something neither can control or defeat.
Aiden Mercer’s life now centers around lounging on the sunny beaches of his adopted country with a beer in one hand and a coffee in the other while admiring the local male population. After a rough life as a respected detective in DC, playing it cool shouldn’t be too hard, right? With the magical community on his case and dead bodies piling up around town, the responsibility of finding their killer seems fated to fall on him and deny him of his easy living.
Then there is Naël.
Cantankerous merman Naël Fouchard’s life is focused on bringing up and protecting his little sister. When DNA found at the scene of the murders mark him as the prime suspect, Naël seeks out the help of Aiden, whose reputation as a detective grossly belies his lazy lifestyle and apparent lack of ambition.
The chemistry between the strong, stoic Naël and the easygoing Aiden is undeniable, no matter how many walls Aiden builds.
If this unlikely pair can’t come to terms with their feelings for each other long enough to catch the killer, their emotional turmoil might yet allow the murderer to kill them instead.

5-Stars

Dark Feathers by Natalina Reis was a wonderful 5-star, Fantasy, Romance read. I absolutely loved this novel. I was hooked from the beginning and could not put this book down. Jo and Nix were excellent characters to follow as the main characters of the story. The author did wonderful with both of their development and you can see their personalities mature as the story progresses. I also enjoyed how descriptive the author was with each setting. I found that it was easy to visualize where scenes would take place because of that.

This novel is the second in this series but can be read as a standalone. It would be a better fit for those of more mature minds possibly 16+ in age due to sexual content and language. It is easy to follow and creative. I highly recommend it!

I give Dark Feathers by Natalina Reis, 5 stars.

Phoenix is a dark angel minion who has been at the mercy of his master’s torture for so long, that’s all he remembers. While he is waiting in earth to bring another soul to his master, a human comes by and she can see him. This is unheard of and his master wants him to find out more about this woman. So he is sent to earth to see if she is a threat. He is able to insert himself into her life and the more he is with her, the more he feels things he thought he never would. He feels more and more that maybe she is someone he wants to be with, be he can’t. Can he? What would the cost be? When her life is in danger, he finds out just what he really will do for this woman.

As much as she loves him, Joan just wants to live a life away from her brother and have a life of her own. So she moves to another town and gets a place of her own. Not quite able to pull it all off on her own, she advertises for a roommate. The man who answers seems like the perfect candidate, although it’s obvious to her that he has secrets. But he is so much better than the others, and he is quite good looking to top it all off. He quickly find a spot in her heart, but how will she feel when she learns the real reason he was sent hear? Can she trust him?

If you have read Lavender Fields by this author, you may remember Joan. It has been quite a while since I read it, and I didn’t not put the connection together at first. Once I did, I was so excited because I knew I would love this whole book! The characters are spectacular, Joan and Phoenix make wonderful primary characters — relatable and each struggle with their own problems. The secondary characters just add more flavor. Some we may remember as well a some news ones to add to the mix. Not to mention the story itself — the feelings Phoenix and Joan have for each other is there pretty quickly. But so is there is also suspense thrown in involving both Joan and Phoenix. I could not wait to finish this book, it was so good!

This is a wonderful paranormal romance and I highly recommend this book.

This is probably my favourite by Natalina and that is saying something because I just loved the first one, Lavender Fields. Natalina has woven a magical story where I easily got swept away with the characters that I fell in love with in the previous book. Dark Feathers is a paranormal romance by Natalina Reis. This is one of the best books I have read by Natalina. It had me hooked from the very first page and I couldn’t put it down until the last. I would highly recommend that you read Lavender Fields because there are recurring characters from that book in this masterpiece. They are both five star reads. This book features Phoenix who is a dark angel sent to spy on Joan, and Joan is looking for a roommate, not love. Somehow, when they meet emotions start churning and they find themselves trying to win the right to live and love each other. This book will take you on a roller coaster ride that you won’t want to get off. If you love paranormal or just a great romance, this is the book for you.

I was immediately sucked into this book and after about 2 chapters, i realized everyone seemed familiar and then it clicked (I was slow on the uptake) and this book follows the little sister from the book Lavender Fields. I don’t feel it is necessary to read that book to read and understand this one, but if you fall in love with this book, You’ll want that book too!
Joan, oh Joan and her potty mouth! She’s spunky and not afraid to tell you like it is and exactly what she expects to happen or how she feels.
Nix, oh what a guy. Poor thing was so lost yet knew something was amiss and until Joan, he had no idea things could or should be different.
My heart broke a couple times but in the end I was happy. Great book!

Dark Feathers by Natalina Reis – Review by Francis O’Sullivan

Dark FeathersDark Feathers by Natalina Reis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dark Feathers is a paranormal romance by Natalina Reis. It is a standalone novel, set in the same world as her book Lavender Fields with many characters appearing from the earlier book. It follows Phoenix, a dark angel sent to spy on Joan, a young woman who could see him when he was supposed to be invisible to humans. Joan’s search for a roommate provides the perfect opportunity for Phoenix to keep an eye on her, and (of course) fall in love.
Reis has a well-established system of angels, and Lavender Fields has already given us plenty of insight into the trouble they can get into. Although much of the world-building has been done before, Phoenix being a dark angel gives Reis a chance to explore more of the system and remind or introduce readers to the world from a different perspective.
Joan is a caring, loveable character. Her passion for baking speaks of her commitment to making others happy, and she is quick to note Phoenix’s favourite type of cookies. Phoenix is at times broody and reclusive, and Joan works hard to cheer him up and bring him out of his shell. As someone whose life experience so far has consisted almost entirely of pain and suffering, including sexual abuse, the positive and loving relationship does wonders for Phoenix, who reciprocates by setting out to protect Joan regardless of the cost.
This is an enjoyable page-turner of a book – definitely five stars! I would recommend it to fans of angel romances (and, let’s face it, who doesn’t enjoy a good angel romance?). You can definitely enjoy this book without having read Lavender Fields, but for me it was really great seeing how Caleb and Sky were getting on.

A great read about darkness. Phoenix is a dark angel. One night when collecting a soul, a woman sees him and speaks to him, things which have never happened before. His boss Asmodeus thinks it is a threat and orders Phoenix to follow her. Phoenix accidently ends up being her roommate and discovers new experiences and finds himself. Can he sirll follow orders or is he something more than a minion?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns that I just couldn’t put down. Well developed characters like Joan stubborn and sarcastic but caring underneath or Phoenix trying to find himself but also follow orders.
Great cast of supporting characters like the bubbly brother Caleb or the loving Sky. A great villain in Asomedeus cold and cruel and manipulative done just right.
I loved the visual detial throughout the novel like the the bay with its blue waters and clear sky with the boats and seagulls for a sense of calm for both Phoenix and the reader, beautifully written. Or with the coolies with their tastes and smells sosl vivid its as if you’re actually there as you experience new things with Phoenix, wonderfully written.
A great example of world building with fantatsical beings living alongside humanity with their own rules and laws and societies. I loved the idea of the dark angels, with evil creatures not being demons for a change was fresh and exciting. Phoenix’s journey of finding himself and his insecurities was relatable and emotive. The switch of perspectives worked well to display both sides of the story and was easy to follow with names in chapter titles. Fast paced action and high stakes in a fantasy story made for a captivating read. Overall a great read and I would give it five stars.

Have you ever picked up a book by a favorite author only to realize that your dreams have come true? That happened to me today. I picked up DARK FEATHERS and something felt a little familiar about it. I recognized 2 characters in the first chapter so looked back over this author’s catalog. Yup, in July 2017 I read LAVENDER FIELDS and in my review hoped Joan’s story would be told one day. Well after fast clapping and and doing a happy dance, I went back to reading.

“Oh, be still, my naughty bits.” Joan thinks that of Nix and Phoenix thinks that of chocolate chip cookies. Haha. I honestly think she and I would be friends if she were my neighbor.

I cannot recommend this book enough. I would recommend reading Lavender Fields also. SUCH GOOD AND ORIGINAL STORIES. Humor and angst and burning looks and best friends.

5 stars for Lavender Fields and 5 stars for Dark Feathers equals 10 stars!!!!

This was so much more than I thought it would be. Sky is an angel who seems to find trouble. All accidental of course. His job to collect souls is one he struggles with. We meet Caleb aka Mr. Lavender Fields. They have an unbreakable connection. That is until Caleb get his mind erased.

This story was fun and creative. I loved learning about Sky’s job and what he had to do. Calebs sister, Joan, was witty smart and a wonderful addition to the story.

I loved the insta-connection that Caleb and Sky had. I seemed to be able to feel it coming through the pages. I was hesitant to read this because of the material. I am glad I did. It was so much more. This is a well written story with lovable characters.

Rebel Jewel (The Jewel Chronicles Book 3) by Natalina Reis was hooking, engaging, and it had me flipping the pages.

Oh wow, what a way to end an amazing series. I’m sad to see these characters go, but happy they got their ending, and what a ending it was. Now this book is part of a series, and I highly suggest reading the first two book, or you will be confused as to what is going on, and you will miss out on the impact this full complete story brings. I’m not going to get into details, as I don’t want to spoil anything. But just know this book, this series is a must read. Not only well written, it has action, love, danger, amazing detail, and connecting well developed characters that you can’t help but fall for. The plot is both complex and multi layered, and keeps you fully engaged form start to finish.

This book, this series has it all and it’s a super high recommend from me, and it also gets my golden stamp of approval

This is the 3rd book in The Jewel Chronicles series. I would recommend reading the first 2 books in the series first as it will give you all the details and information on characters that you need. It is totally worth reading all 3 books!!

In this installment we see Milenda with her husband Jaali readying themselves for a revolution. All they both wanted was to live a simple peaceful life, but duty calls and Milenda has to save her people.

Both Milenda and Jaali have been through a lot, and I wanted them to be able to relax as well. Milenda is an amazing and strong woman and it’s beautiful to watch her grow throughout the series. The fantasy land of Natale will really pull you in. It felt as though I was there myself observing and that is what I love the most in a book.

I would highly recommend this series and I cant stress enough that the best option is to read all 3 books!
