Of Fire and Bone (Of Magic & Scales, #3)Of Fire and Bone by Natalina Reis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the third book in this series and brings all the characters together. This is a nicely written MM story filled with magic, mayhem and a lot of one on one (if you get my drift) between the two main characters. I didn’t love this a I struggled to really *feel for the characters. Luckily I have read a previous story in this series so I had that to get a feel for them. The story is good. It mixes action, suspense and all those smexy times.

We do get to see all the characters from oast books. See where they are now and who they are with. I think my fav secondary characters is Taz. I don’t car much for witches but her attitude overrides that and makes her an enjoyable character. Silva would be my second. He has some good humor.

Aiden Mercer is an American who has left the DC area to form a new life in Portugal. He wants an easy-going lifestyle, so he opened a coffee shop and spends as much time as he can by or on the beach watching the male population. Aiden’s not as regular as he wants to seem. Since he was a child, he can see members of the magical community.

He doesn’t see many magical beings where he lives and in his coffee shop on a normal day. But one day, after a morning run and a stop at the local bar, he gets a visit from a witch named Taz. Taz tells him about deaths in the magical community. She wants his help to try and solve them. The only clue that they have is that there is merfolk DNA at all the crime scenes. As a former private investigator, Aiden is curious.

Naël Fouchard is a merman that lives in Cascais raising his younger sister. With the suspect having merfolk DNA, Naël seeks out Aiden’s help as well. Although Naël was quite rude to Aiden in previous encounters, he needs Aiden’s help. The two men realize that they have ridiculous chemistry. Their relationship blossoms as they work to uncover the real identity of the serial murderer. Can they solve the murder before it’s too late?

Of Magic and Scales is an amazing story with magical beings. The characters are brought to life by author Natalina Reis. I found myself carried on by the story and cheering Aiden and Naël along in their quest to prove Naël’s innocence.

Of Fire and Bone (Of Magic & Scales, #3)Of Fire and Bone by Natalina Reis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Of Fire and Bone is the third book in the Of Magic and Scales series by Natalina Reis. It is an M/M fantasy romance which I thoroughly enjoyed. When I saw this book I was so happy to see Aiden and Nael again.
Nael is a gorgeous, but grumpy, merman and Aiden is his magical boyfriend and together they are an amazing couple who I love reading about. Their love for one another is awesome and they will do absolutely anything for each other, including going face to face with gods and goddesses and other magical creatures.
In Of Fire and Bone Aiden is being hounded by the horrid creature that they have nicknamed ‘Bob’ to annoy him. Bob is intent on killing Aiden and will use any means to do so.
Added to this danger to his life, Aiden’s father is back on the scene and that causes Aiden a lot of anguish and he needs his beloved merman to help him get through the tough times.
This is a great, well written, fast paced story. I already loved these characters and there is also a great secondary cast of characters which add so much to the story.
Definitely recommend this book and the whole series.

When your past comes back to haunt you, will you have the courage to fight for the life you have created and love, that’s the choice Aiden has to decide in this final instalment.

Aiden is settled now with his boyfriend Nael and wants to enjoy the summer and too relax but as usual good laid plans go pear shaped.

Aiden has worked hard to put his past behind him but there are dark forces trying to bring his world into darkness and can he resist the pressures and overcome it to live the life he wants with his boyfriend and family of friends he has surround himself with. Can Aiden survive this attack or will they draw him back home.

I don’t normally read the paranormal genre but I make a acceptance for Natalina Reis, this series and her books are intriguing and draw you in from the first word written to the last. The twist of the paranormal with the MM aspects of the story gives this a unique twist on the normal paranormal stories.

I would say although you could read this book as a stand alone, I recommend that you read the first two books as this gives a great grounding to the story and you get to enjoy these characters from the very beginning. This will just enhance the story even more and draw you to love these characters even more. I am just sad that this is the last time we get to delve into Aiden and Nael world but can’t wait to discover more wonderful character.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Of Fire & Bone is the third book in the Of Magic & Scales series. Somehow, I ended up with the third book without reading the second one. I read the first one and going from that one to this one I can say that it’s not difficult to pick up what’s going on, BUT you miss out on the actual events that sparked what’s happening in book three. So, I’d definitely say you need book two for the best reading experience.

This is a quick, fun-filled read. I love the banter between the characters and how easy it is to connect with them. I liked how the book had a warm vibe without tipping over into cheesy. The only thing I wish had been different was that the final battle seemed a bit glossed over. That could be because I missed book two and maybe that’s where most of the action happened with that character.

Overall, a pleasant read. Even though this is the conclusion to the main books, I’m looking forward to the holiday book, which is unusual for me because I don’t normally prefer holiday themed books. These characters draw you in, though. Plus, I have to find out what Vee does for the event. There’s bound to be something, what with all her wild ideas…

These are not your average mermaid or fantasy books. I always feel like I have to say that with Natalina Reis books, because hers really do stand out among the crowd and seem to have a sparkle that just pulls the reader in and keeps them hooked until that last page with baited breath. I loved these novels and this being the last one had me sad before even started but also very excited because I could not wait to dive right into the story of Nael and Aiden and the rest of the magical cast of characters that I have grown to love in the Magic & Scales series. This book does not disappoint and brings the magic and suspense with the special twist I did not see coming. I couldn’t put it down and found myself reading well into the night and past my bedtime. I needed to see how things would come to a close for everyone and I was so pleased with how Ms. Reis chose to handle the ending. I cannot wait to see what else she has in store for us readers in the near future!

Of Fire and Bone by Natalina Reis a fab four-star read. This is number three in the of Magic and Scales series and this is the final one in the series, so its best to read them in order. This won’t be for everyone as it’s a M/M story, but its well done. Aiden and Nael will keep you on your toes, it was so nice finding endings to some of the stories that have kept me hooked, but I was sad to see these Magical creatures go, that was sad. Reis as a witty way with words and this book is no exception. Somehow I missed the second book of this series – still trying to figure out how that happened – and I jumped into this third installment eagerly. I didn’t feel I was at a loss picking up where I did however I know there were plot points I didn’t appreciate as much having missed book two. That said this book was a fun romp with fantasy creatures and gods. I thoroughly enjoy the author’s storytelling and look forward to picking up the book I missed.

This is the third book in the Of Magic and Scales series and I was surprised by how much I liked the story and this is mainly because m/m stories are not my thing – but having read the rest of the series I wanted to see how it ended. Again, the author told a magical tale and I was really engaged in what I was reading. There was so much going on in this story that I couldn’t put it down – the authors writing style was really good. I would definitely recommend that the series is read in order. I have really enjoyed this series and Of Fire and Bone was a perfect conclusion.

Of Fire and Bone is the third book in the Of Magic and Scales series by Natalina Reis. This is the final book in the series featuring Aiden and Naël, although I did see a blurb about a fourth book. This series should be read in order because they build on each other and you may miss some vital backstory if you miss a book. Aiden and Naël gather friends and family in this final battle. This book is filled with mystery, action, magical characters and a great romance. If you like MM or just great romance and adventure, I highly recommend this series. I give Of Fire and Bone (Of Magic and Scales Book 3) by Natalina Reis, 4 stars.

This book really makes you feel for Aiden. He is not the man he once was, and he has no desire to be since his boyfriend makes him want to be a better person. But he still struggles with what he was. This is something most if us who strive to be better deal with. Then there are things he always believed since he was young that have scarred him. He is coming to realize that maybe he didn’t know the whole story. Now he must decide if he can forgive and move on. This book really focuses on him and his boyfriend and their love for each other. You can tell their world revolves around one another. But the other characters in this book really complete this story. Oh and don’t forget the bad guys coming to destroy everything Aiden holds dear. This adds lots of action to the story and makes it even more interesting.

This is a paranormal M/M steamy romance, so it is definitely different from what you might be used to reading. The story is quite good and unique. I recommend it and the series.

The characters are connectable and had me turning pages fast. They truly made the story for me. Nael, Aiden and other magical friends are back in this story in their final adventure. As life never goes the way you want it, Aiden is just looking to spend some time with his boyfriend. But is life really that easy? Will fate step in and take over? Natalina has created a world that is full of magic and had me laughing out loud at times. You will find yourself greatly entertained with all the mayhem, suspense and romance and many paranormal magical characters. This intriguing and dramatic plot is also a fun and easy read. Of Fire and Bone is the third and final instalment in the Of Magic and Scales series by Natalina Reis. This is a fantastic paranormal MM romance with a plot that will keep you glued to the pages until you’ve read every last word. Natalina Reis never fails to deliver unforgettable stories, and this book/series is definitely a favourite.
As this book follows on from the first two, I really recommend reading them before starting on this one. Knowing what happened in Books #1 and #2 will definitely enrich your reading experience of this book.
I loved Aiden and Nael right from the beginning- they are such great characters- their chemistry is intense- and with Aiden’s past and the fact that Nael is a merman, Ms. Reis had me hooked right from the get-go! A lot has happened since the first book, but things aren’t about to get any easier as danger mounts- new discoveries are made, taking us on quite a wild ride. This was a bit of a bitter-sweet read for me as I really wanted to find out how everything plays out in the end, but also knowing that this is the final instalment of the series.
Gods, goddesses, druids, hidden agendas, discovery, suspense, danger, dramatic developments, sexy details, and wonderful world building all blended together into a captivating story.
Looking forward to seeing what Ms. Reis does next.
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Natalina Reis!

This is the 3rd book in the Of Magic and Scales series and what a good read it is. I would recommend reading the first 2 books in this series as it follows on with the same characters and storyline. I love the fantasy aspect and how fantasy mixes with reality. There is also an element of danger and romance that keeps the story interesting and flowing. The characters are really well written and you can feel the emotional journey that Aiden goes on from feelings of betrayal and abandonment from his parents, to fear and helplessness when his loved ones are targeted. You feel all the love, hate and pain every step of the way.

Aiden  is happy and settled with his merman mate but there is a dark cloud on the horizon in the shape of  the wicked god Baburaj and his mother, Jhanvi. They have made several attempts at destroying Aiden and his family of friends and his lover. Will they succeed this time?

With the added complication of Aiden finding his real parents in the form of a godess mother and a powerful druid as his father, Aiden starts to wonder just how powerful his magic is and why Baburaji and his mother are so determined to destroy him.
Can Aiden stop them before they hurt someone he loves? Will his parents help him or become part of the problem? Can Aiden get his happily ever after with his partner or will they be ripped apart and destroyed?

Natalina Reis is an international bestseller who wrote her first romance at the age of thirteen. Since then she has published fourteen romances that defy the boundaries of her genre. She enjoys writing all kinds of rebels and outcasts into her stories and she always roots for the underdog.

Natalina doesn’t believe you can have too many books or too much coffee. Art and dance make her happy and she is pretty sure she could survive on lobster and bananas alone. When she is not writing or stressing over lesson plans, she shares her life with her husband and two adult sons.

If you love the world of magic, mystery and great characters you will love Of Magic and Scale by Natalina Reis. The story follows Aiden a laid back person who is looking to relax and chill in life until he meets the stoic character of Nael.

Nael is a protector for his little sister but when he gets put as prime suspect in the murders which have been discovered he enlists the help of a unlikely character in Aiden, but Nael has a secret and will this affect their relationship if found out. Will they discover who is committing these hideous crimes you will have to read the book. The with the interaction of the secondary characters this makes for a really entertaining book.

The chemistry between these two characters is great from the first time they meet and the story is a great read. You will turning the pages frantically to get to the next chapter and the writing brings the characters to life. This is a juicy fantasy thriller if I’ve ever read one and I’ve been excited to read it. I found this book to be entertaining, witty and a page-turner.
With a serial killer on the run, a perplexed enigma about Aiden’s former life, Aiden and Fouchard must walk on eggshells through two different worlds between magic and myth where they’re not in power or seeking victory.
Aiden Mercer has a beautiful life on the beach where he relaxes for a living especially after a life as a former respected detective. In the magical community, everybody is turning to him to solve the case of the serial killer on the loose to which he’d have to put his relaxation on hold again.
Naël is an argumentative merman raising and keeping his sister safe from harm. As a suspect of these murders, he seeks out Aiden’s help to prove his innocence. Naël knows Aiden will be unstoppable and hardworking to prove his innocence.
Naël and Aiden’s chemistry is secure and impassive but Naël is persistent while Aiden builds walls to keep him out. Their banter makes them vulnerable for a killer out to get them both.

I skipped over some of the parts but it didn’t make any difference to my enjoyment of the book. The authors writing as usual is magical and mysterious, she uses wonderful and vivid detail that helps you to imagine what you are reading. There was a good amount of romance and some suspense which really added to the story. I thought the pace and flow as good and the characters were really well developed.

Her stories always have a thought and preparation to deliver the right amount of details to think you know what is coming ahead. Then BAM! It goes in a totally different direction. This story is no different. Aiden was a respected detective in DC and now he is just trying to take it easy. There is a magical community that is looking for him, not to mention there is a killer on the loose. There is one DNA that is at the murders and it is no other than Merman Naël Fouchard. Of Magic and Scales is a great M/M fantasy, romantic thriller by Natalina Reis that had me captivated from the very beginning, right up to the very end. It is my first read by this author and I’m pretty sure it won’t be my last as I enjoyed this book very much.
I do like a good M/M romance but this one is that little bit different in that one of the main characters, Nael, is a merman (or merrow as they prefer to be called). If, like me you are wondering how to pronounce Nael’s name it’s pronounced Nuh/l/ (It was annoying me to the point that I messaged the author to ask!.
Aiden Mercer has been able to see magicals since he can remember and he’s not their biggest fan since he’s had a few unpleasant run in’s with some of them. That all changes when Nael Fourchard enters into his life. Many magicals are being murdered and Nael wants Aiden to help him find out who the killer is. Added to this is the incredible sexual chemistry between the 2 men although Aiden finds Nael very rude and abrupt and doesn’t like him very much.
What follows is a great tale of intrigue and mystery, delving into the world of witches, fairies, trolls and many other magical creatures as Aiden and Nael try to find the killer, putting their lives in great danger on many occasions.
This book has some great secondary characters, in particular Aiden’s assistant at his coffee shop and especially Nael’s younger sister Vee. I absolutely adored Vee. She has absolutely no filter and is hilarious.
This is a great read but has left some questions still to be answered (I’m not going to give any spoilers), so I’m really hoping that there is more to come from these fantastic characters.

Initially I found the writing style a little challenging to get into, however after the first couple of chapters I caught the flow. Of course, then I couldn’t put it down. Of Magic and Scales is a meandering mystery story It takes it’s time and introduces several magical creatures along the way. Aiden trying to come to terms with himself added dimension to the story. And, Naël is someone you kind of love to hate. He is irritating and rude, but he also cares about Aiden in his own way. I could really identify with Aiden’s desire to just live a low-key life without drama. Unfortunately, as in real life, you don’t always get what you wish for.
Overall, I really enjoyed this story. I’m wondering if there will be another book because I would definitely read more!

This is a great story bringing romance, crime, and supernatural all together.

Aiden seems like a normal person running a coffee shop in Portugal. However things arent always what they seem. Aiden has a gift/curse which means he can tell supernatural beings apart from humans. This has gotten him into trouble in the past so he stays away from any magical beings.

That is until a witch finds him and begs for his help. There is someone who is out there killing magical beings and she needs his help to find out who it is. Only clue is there is evidence its a Merman.

An arrival of a Mr Fouchard sends Aiden into a spin. There is a huge attraction between them. However Mr Fouchard turns out to be a Merman.

Could he be the murder? Will Aiden be too blinded by his emotions and feelings to find the truth. Will the pair of them get together or will the distraction of feelings cost them their lives.

This was a gripping story from the start .
