The Victor (The Freemasons #1)The Victor by Nicole Flockton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book should have come with a trigger warning unless I missed it. It was short and sweet and such a forgiving love story between two people who lacked communication but loved each other very much. They were very stubborn, to say the least. Ava and Cole, I really enjoyed reading their story and the little spats that they would have. Going through what they have gone through isn’t easy on top of Cole being part of the Freemasons. This is the first book I have ever read that has talked about that and I found it very interesting. Cole was open and honest with Ava and didn’t hide anything from her after their separation. They worked as a team for the Gala and worked out their issues.

This is the first book in what looks to be a cracking series. I’ve read several books by this author over the last couple of years but somehow missed this series. So glad I found it as I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
This is a really great second chance romance set in Australia. The series is set around 4 male friends who all have high positions in the Freemasons. In this book we get the story of Cole and his estranged wife Ava. The couple split after losing their baby soon after their marriage. Ava is asking for a divorce but Cole is determined to win her back and make a go of their marriage.
I really loved Cole and Ava’s story. It’s very angsty, which I love, as Ava is determined not to fall for Cole’s charms again. But that proves to be a much bigger struggle that she thought.
The story flows really well and keeps you gripped and entertained from start to finish. I enjoyed this so much and I already have book 2 on my kindle ready to lose myself in.

The Hunter (The Freemasons, #2)The Hunter by Nicole Flockton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book held its own, as the first book did! Loving this series so far, and I know that I will continue to do so! I love the author’s writing style, and how they create the world and how the characters live in that world! It’s very well done, complex at times, but realistic to a tee!

I enjoyed the story line between Gemma and Dominic! Great and strongly written characters. I especially admired Gemma. Very driven. Admirable. Dominic was a bit more complex, he was a man who knew how to get what he wanted. When they both cross lines and want something on the line, moments together are not avoidable. Can feelings get in the way, more less, of business? They both had excellent character development. The story really built up well as I read. Astonishing as I read through. I could not put this down. For me, as the first, the characters and writing style is what made the story! Truly loved it!

The author’s writing style is sensational! I love how they do the story and the characters that reside as they write! Very creative writing style Highly recommend this book/author/series! A must read for sure!

The Victor (The Freemasons #1)The Victor by Nicole Flockton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

4.5 stars

The Victor is an emotional and heartfelt contemporary romance and a short read but not lacking for its shortness. This stunning story will stay with you long after you read it, it did for me. I loved the characters but not right from the start.

All Ava wanted was love and thought she found it but it was too good to be true. Now she just wants to close the chapter and be able to move on with her life BUT Cole has other ideas. Is she willing to go along with him to get what she wants or will she walk away?

Cole will stop at nothing to get what he wants so he has come up with a pan. Now it just has to work BUT part of the problem is the secrets behind the Freemasons. My father-in-law was a Freemason and I know how secrets can lead to distrust

This enchanting tale is full of passion and angst, hope and weariness, pain and suffering, loss and helplessness.

I look forward to book 2.

I enjoyed reading this second chance romance story. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites yet. I enjoy how the author used details and her writing skills to bring life to the story. This story is no different. This is a well written story that is full of romance and hard to put down. The characters are strong and keep the story engaging. They have great chemistry and growth throughout the story. It is an emotional story in parts which just added to the story. This is a fast paced story that is hard to put down. A story about two people who may get a second chance at their marriage. You don’t want to miss what happens with them. It is a great easy story to read. I highly recommend this book.

The Victor (The Freemasons #1)The Victor by Nicole Flockton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved The Victor! It gave me all kinds of feels. I only wish it was longer. I want more of Cole and Ava in my life. I also can’t wait for the continuation of the series.
Ava is the character most women can relate to. Likable, insecure, strong willed. When she ends up with the man of her dreams she still believes it’s too good to be true. So she asks for a divorce instead. One problem, Cole tells her no!
Thinking she’s doing what’s best to release a trapped man, she has no idea how deep she slices him with her request. Cole unequivocally loves Ava but he’s never been vocal about it. Wanting his actions to speak for him.
Now this is their problem.
They don’t communicate.
They close up everything inside.
Will they ever move forward?
The author gives you a fast paced romance with a lot of substance and obstacles. Keeps you rooting for Ava and Cole to make it work.
So time to jump on the roller coaster ride and into The Victor. A second chance romance, that’s slightly different from ones I’ve read before. I think you will feel the same!

I have always loved books by this gifted author. This one really stuck with me! It was deep at times, and the book and the issues of the couple were full of realism and being realistic! You felt a lot while reading.

I felt and really understood a lot between Ava and Cole. Things were rocky, and they let things get that way, but there was no denying the feelings they had that had them be together in the first place. I really felt for them both, was rooting for them all the way through, I wanted to know if they would try again or really call it quits. The book had its empowering sense and gripping the reader, with the journey the author took the reader on. Motivating and heartfelt all the way through! Could not put it down Loved it

Great read that held me to its end. Of course I enjoyed the authors writing as usual! For sure a must read and very much highly recommend this author and this book! Neither is something to be passed up!

I fell in love with Ava and Cole. A second chance romance that will give you all the feelings. They are conflicted because she wants or, or does she but he doesn’t. Can they work through this? I found the writing to modern and contemporary. It felt fresh and realistic. I loved the romance that showed love is hard, it does require work. The chemistry is there. I was intrigued from the start. It’s a quick story and I had to finish it once I started to see where they ended up. This is one of my favorite romance authors and I am a new fan to this series. I cannot wait to read the others.

Romance under Aquarius (Stargazing Series Book 1) by Danielle Jacks – Review by Shelly Kittell

Romance Under AquariusRomance Under Aquarius by Danielle Jacks
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a fun romantic adventure this book is! Kasper and Maris remind me of an adult Little Mermaid (not quite so wholesome). Kasper is trying to find a way that will heal his brother’s cancer and comes across Maris, a mermaid. The two of them continue the search for the healing jug with a few misadventures. Maris’ friends try to help her but end up messing up and causing their own ruckus. This book is laugh out loud funny! My family wanted to know what I was I was giggling at. The chemistry between Kasper and Maris was so well-done. It felt so natural. Her flirting with Owen and making Kasper jealous was awesome. The sibling rivalry fun was a nice touch. Pasha and Ryn’s betrayal of Maris and further misadventures seemed just right. I didn’t see that plot twist coming. Perfect! It fit in so smooth. I would have loved to see more of Pasha’s mom’s backstory. It was so intriguing that I had to keep going and couldn’t put it down. I had to know what was coming next. An engaging read that will have you waiting eagerly for the next book in the series. A quick and entertaining read that I recommend for romance lovers.

Wraps up the series brilliantly
Loved being back in Bunya Junction and back amongst friends. I did not want this book to end as it is last book in the series. I fell in love with the Carruthers clan and the town of Bunya Junction from book 1 and have loved watching them all get their HEA. This is Yolanda and Michael’s story. It’s all about the volatility of keeping secrets and working through the hard times that can happen even in the strongest relationships. This can be read as a stand-alone but I highly recommend reading the series from start to finish. Going to miss Bunya Junction.

Michael and Yolanda Watson are high school sweethearts. They are very much in love still years later. They have an adorable toddler named Jayne and Yolanda wants another baby. Michael is very much against the idea because Yolanda had a miscarriage previously and almost dies as a result. Drs advised to be very cautious if they decide to have another baby and that she would definitely be high risk. She can’t get over the fact that he doesn’t want another baby and she feels like he puts his chef job before his family. Because of these feelings she leaves to go back to her hometown to stay with family and get away for a while. Michael is completely distraught over losing his family even for a week (so he thinks). He tries to give her her space until a week turns into two, then three and he wonders if she will ever come home. Then Michael loses his beloved chefs position because the owner unexpectedly sales the restaurant. He needs/wants Yolanda more than ever. He decides to go back to his hometown and get his family back. Yolanda is very surprised and distant when he shows up. She finds out she IS pregnant again and doesn’t tell Michael. Michael doesn’t tell Yolanda he has lost his job. They are both keeping secrets. Yolanda very much still loves and misses her husband but she is pregnant and Michael has already said he doesn’t want another baby. She doesn’t know what to do. Throw in Yolandas very protective family and it is a very stressful situation. Do they work it out? Do they decide to stay separated? What will happen to Yolanda and the baby? This book is so good and there are so many great characters. I love Yolanda’s close knit family. They love fierce and are protective of their baby sister but they do also care for Michael. He is a good man and she hasn’t told anyone why she left him so they are left speculate what has happened. The author did an amazing job of showcasing the love of siblings and true love between a husband and wife.

Just like the others, I read it in one sitting. This series is such a page turner. Although a work of fiction, it has so many topics I could relate to. There is a common theme among these books and that communication and trust. Although this one was about Yolanda and Michael repairing and restoring their relationship, communication played such an important role. Both let fear keep them from expressing themselves. Each assumes the other person felt a certain way or would react a certain way. I really enjoyed the direction this book took. It’s easy to fall in love but keeping it alive takes work.

What a great way to say goodbye to this amazing series and characters.  I think it was the perfect ending but will miss them.

Wasn’t sure what to expect with Yolanda since she was mentioned but not there in the previous books.  She is a great Mom and wife but definitely showed she is the youngest child.  I felt that she needed to prove she was capable and a grown-up,  but didn’t always act like one.

Michael also has a chip on his shoulder and did everything he could to show people he wasn’t his Dad and could be successful.

I really enjoyed this series and will miss this group of people.

Reunion in the Outback by Nicole Flockton

5 stars

This is the fourth book in the Welcome to Bunya Junction Series and I cannot tell you how much I loved it. The most important part, in my opinion, is that this book is able to stand alone as a strong novel on its own. I have not read the other three books in the series, but I promise that I will now as I want to know more about the characters that I grew to love throughout this story.

In Reunion in the Outback we meet Yolanda and Michael who are living their life in Sydney. They have just weathered one of the toughest trials of their marriage, and to be honest, their lives. They also managed to do this without the support of family nearby. Michael has been trying to outrun the reputation of his father while Yolanda has been trying to prove her independence from her close knit family.

When Yolanda senses changes in their lives, she chooses to run back to her family for their support. She needs space from Michael and she needs space to think. But is her family the best choice to return to.

Soon Michael is blindsided by even more change and he finds himself with the ability to run after Yolanda to try to win her back. But by returning home to Bunya Junction, he must face all that he ran from when he left and the reputation of his father. Is winning Yolanda back worth facing his fears? Will facing his fears win Yolanda back?

Both of them need to decide if they should stay apart or if they really were better together. They also must decide if what they were running away from all those years ago in Bunya Junction is really what they thought it was. Maybe their life and their home isn’t in Sydney after all.

Reunion in the Outback (Welcome to Bunya Junction, #4)Reunion in the Outback by Nicole Flockton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It’s a reunion of siblings when Yolanda (also known as Yolo and Lana) arrives on her brother Scott’s doorstep with her young daughter, Jayne. We’ve met Scott, Sindy, and Jonas in previous books and we get to interact with them more with Lana’s story.

She’s yearned for another child for years but Michael, Yolanda’s husband, can’t bear to see her again the way she was earlier in the year when she miscarried. Upset, Yolanda gathers up Jayne and they return to Yolo’s home in Bunya Junction. She avoids all the questions from the family, just letting them know she needs some time away. After all, Michael will be busy at the restaurant, which is where he practically lives these days anyway.

Michael can’t figure out what he did to have the love of his live leave with his daughter. That’s issue #1. Then the phone rings added an additional layer to already mounting pile of disasters. He loves the fact that Charles gave him this opportunity to be the head chef of Charlie’s but he also realizes the time he spends there might be impacting his marriage.

Not being able to withstand the separation any further, Michael leaves Sydney and heads to Bunya Junction. After all, with his new news, he’s got the time to work on his relationship now. Will it be too late? With so many secrets flying around, is there any hope left?

This book concludes the Bunya Junction series. I’m a little sad to see it end!! I’ve enjoyed getting to know the Carruthers family and all their dysfunctions! Each of these books may be read as a standalone but I enjoyed reading them all fairly close together. I highly recommend this series to those who enjoy a good family full of perfectly dysfunctional issues to help us all feel a little more normal. 🙂

Back to Bunya Junction for the last book in the series – this makes me sad as I’ve fallen in love with the world and its characters but once again, it is brilliantly written.
This fourth book is a different kind of romance as the lead characters are married from the beginning (and not in a marriage of convenience) so that throws a new spin on things and shows the true side to all marriages – that there can still be miscommunication and misunderstandings. It also gives everyone hope that true love still exists if you’re willing to fight for it!
So goodbye to Bunya Junction, but still looking forward to future books by this author!

What a delightful and emotional read!

Reunion in the Outback is book 4 in the Welcome to Bunya Junction series. I have not read the others in the series, but despite that, I had no problem following the story. I feel like it can easily be read as a standalone.

I love a really good second chance romance, and this one did not disappoint. It actually stood apart from so many others in the genre. The writer gave me something different. This is about a couple, Yolanda and Michael, who have been together for many years and were happily married until a scary medical emergency threw their marriage into turmoil. Neither she nor Michael are sure they can ever find their way back to one another.

Michael and Yolanda were wonderful characters. They were both complex and complicated. Flockton did a great job of continually adding layers to them in each chapter with both Yolanda and Michael each telling me their story. Both of them are also keeping very important secrets from each other, but that was a symptom of their marriage at that point. I so wanted them to find their way back to each other. They loved each other so much, but doubts kept creeping back in, so they would take two steps backward for each step forward. However, I was very pleased with the ending.

Flockton is a new writer for me, and I can’t wait to read more from her, especially the earlier books in the series. It was a gorgeous story about love, loss, separation, reunion, and the importance of family.

The fourth book in the Bunya Junction series follows the story of the fourth sibling and baby of the bunch. She experiences joy, love, heartache and fear as her life turns in an unexpected direction. As in previous books, the author delves into secondary characters in just enough depth to tie things together. This book had more conflict than the others but was also relatable in that conflict is real and normal.
