Echoes: Lucifer and the Dark Goddess by Nikki Broadwell – Review by Kendra Aubry

EchoesEchoes by Nikki Broadwell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Echoes: Lucifer and the Dark Goddess is the first in Nikki Broadwell’s new dystopian series.
Feirin wakes up with no memories of her past, her powers, or her mission in this time and place. Racism and classism are rampant in the cities, and the desert beyond the concrete wall is desolate and uninhabitable. Feirin is tasked with helping the people find their humanity again and reintroduce the gods to this place.

This is a well written dystopian novel that stands apart from the crowd- an adult take on the usual post-apocalypse world. Imagine if you will, Mad Max with a bit of magic thrown in. The characters are well developed, with relatable strengths and flaws, and they face off with a truly formidable enemy. Broadwell has created a universe that is well established for future sequels.

Echoes – Lucifer and the deadly Goddess is a dystopian fantasy book- the first in the series. This is a story about Feirin, who has lost her memory and has no clue about herself. All she has is a black necklace hanging around her neck and a tattoo on her forehead. As she starts her journey to rediscover who she is, she realizes she has special powers but needs help on how to use them.
When she goes to the police to enquire about her past, it backfires and she is exiled outside the walls of the city with a group of people. Outside the city’s protective walls, Feirin’s is at peril. How Feirin saves her life and the life of everyone with her forms the crux of the story.

The story is a mixed bag of suspense, mystery and magic, and manages to keep the reader on his/her toes. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward for more in this series.

Echoes by Nikki Broadwell is the first book in the Lucifer and the Dark Goddess series and it was a great read! I could hardly put this book down once I got into it. It took me several chapters to become enthralled, but once I was I was hooked. It was like a dystopian, Mad Max type of book. Thrilling at points, sad at others, this book really makes you think. It feels like this is how our future could be if some things don’t change, which is very scary. I absolutely loved this book and I can’t wait to read the next installment!

Echoes: Lucifer and the Dark Goddess by Nikki Broadwell is the first in a new series. This is a good read that kept me interested from beginning to end. There are paranormal elements, dystopian, and more to the story. The main character Feirin is more than what one first thinks when she is introduced. I think this story leaves the reader wanting to know more and wanting to read the next book in the series. I enjoyed the character and world-building of the story. I really enjoyed the mysterious elements of the story. This is not my first time reading this author and I have always enjoyed her work. I look forward to more in this series and more from the author in the future.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this story when I first read the blurb, it sounded really intriguing and I couldn’t wait to get going – I actually really enjoyed it as well. It was an intriguing story and really creatively written. I have read books by this author previously so it was great to read some by her again. I really felt like I was living this story with Ferin, finding out everything that she was and all that was going on in her life. I was really invested in what I was reading. This really was an interesting and intriguing read added in to that is the authors creative and imaginative writing it was definitely a great 4 star read and what that I would definitely recommend.

Echoes: Lucifer and the Dark Goddess by Nikki Broadwell is a paranormal dystopian adventure that will pull you in from the beginning and doesn’t let go till the end. I love this authors style of writing and attention to detail. She’s definitely a one click author for me. This is my favorite yet. Feirin has lost her memory and has not a single clue who she is or what she does. She goes in search of help thinking she might get help from the police but all that does is bring on more problems. Follow along with Feirin on her journey and see what happens next. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait to read more from this Author.

Wow is about the only word I can use to describe this book. This book has a realistic feeling to the plotline. It evokes so many emotions to make this book feel real. The characters are complex with many personality traits to make them real. The attention to detail is what makes this story so interesting. Feirin is the main character in this book. She has lost all her memories and has no idea who she is. The only clue to her identity is a necklace and a tattoo. One would think that the police would be some assistance and that is further from the truth. This story is rated R and that should not be taken lightly. I highly recommend this book. There is the warning that once you start reading this book you will not want to put it down.

Echoes: Lucifer and the Dark Goddess by Nikki Broadwell. This is the first book in this series and man oh man its amazing. I can’t wait for the next book. This dystopian read is set in a world where the rich are very rich and the poor are very poor. Feirin is the main character of the story and she is from the city of Elysium and the city is trying to keep a deadly virus from wiping out the population. Feirin is undocumented so she has had to avoid the authorities because she doesn’t want to get sent away. Fee is just now finding out she has special powers and learning to use them. Lucifer is Fee’s romantic interest and he is helping her find out what she is really supposed to do in this life. Fee has found a very ragtag group of friends that make up her family and they will protect each other at all costs. I loved this book and turned the pages as fast as I could. I can’t wait for the next book!

I really enjoyed this book. It was gripping from the first page and I couldn’t put it down. The author does an amazing job at building the characters and the world they live in. You can feel every emotion of the character and you get dragged into their life and struggles.

Feirin is an amazing character. When she finds herself in a city knowing nothing but her name she starts a journey to rediscover who she is. With only her necklace to help she searches for someone to help her. As she uncovers more of her powers she needs help working out what they are and how she is different to everyone else. With the help of her friends she makes they are surrounded by tough decisions and choices.

Will her search cause her more troubles than she originally has? Will she be able to keep herself safe if she leaves the city she finds herself in?

Echoes–(Lucifer and the dark goddess book 1) by Nikki Broadwell was a good 5 star read.
I was pulled right into this different world by the author and couldn’t put it down.

At 15 Feirin finds herself alone with a necklace and a crescent moon tattoo on her forehead, she befriends a group of people who help her and teach her things. We jump ahead a few years, she now has a job and a relationship with bar owner Peyton and living in a future world out of control. She can’t remember who she is but has spurts of memories here and there. She decides to go to the police department to inquire about the night she was brought in with amnesia, not realizing it was putting a bullseye on her back. She ends up exiled with a group of people outside the wall.

Will she get her memory back? Can she lead the group to safety? Who is the mysterious man helping her?

There is so much more to this story that I don’t want to give away. I really got the Mad Max vibe and funny enough the movie is even mentioned in conversation between characters. There are so many great characters that added a great element to the story. Feirin is great, she is a very strong and determined character that can hold her own against anyone that comes at her. You will be on the edge of your seat waiting to see what is coming next. We get suspense, drama, action, paranormal and so much more. I look forward to reading the next book in the series. 1-click and get started today.
