My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Lies Between Us: Deadly Secrets Book 4 by Cynthia Cooke was a good 4 star read.

Tom is working on a dangerous case involving a drug lord. His wife thinks he’s on a business trip but there is more to the story. His informant has disappeared and he is trying to find her.

When her husband fails to check in with his wife she gets worried and decides to come looking for him. She has a feeling that he’s in trouble and she needs to get to him before it’s too late.

What will happen when their secrets are revealed? Will they get out safely?

Overall this was a great read, we get drama, action, danger and so much more. I really liked both characters. Cat is a strong woman who can definitely take care of herself and her loved ones. All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story. The author pulls you in with her writing and I can’t wait to read more from her. 1-click and get started today.

The Fire God Tour (Moore Family Saga)The Fire God Tour by Michele Sims
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A story about unexpected attraction to a person who isn’t your usual type. At least that’s how Miles (aka Ari the superstar) and Bella feel about each other. I could really get how they were feeling about each other and how much they cared for each other. This book is well written with wonderful characters, suspense, loyal friendships, and so much more. Once I got started, I had a hard time putting it down. Although this is the third book in the desires, it was easy to catch on to all the characters. I’m so glad I came across this series and can’t wait to check out the other books to get to know more about the characters.

A Beach Wedding To Die For (Cozy Mysteries To Die For Book 2) by Judy Moore – Review by Kayla Interdonato

A Beach Wedding To Die ForA Beach Wedding To Die For by Judy Moore
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Beach Wedding To Die For is the second book in the Cozy Mysteries To Die For series by Judy Moore. I really enjoyed reading the first book in this series and this book did not disappoint. Beck O’Rourke lives with her grandmother Miss Alice and her younger sister Lizzie. They live above the Beach Reads bookstore and coffee shop that they own. Beck has always wanted to be a detective and is determined to follow through on her dream. However, there seems to be a rather attractive Manatee Beach Police Department detective that keeps getting in her way. She must decide which path she wants to pursue, her lifelong dream or the handsome Devon Mathis. With three grooms at a beach wedding, someone is bound to not make it out alive. I love the cozy mystery atmosphere of this story. Just when I thought I knew who the killer was I would get thrown a curveball. The author does a great job keeping you on your toes throughout. I am really looking forward to the next book in this series.

Age of Druids (Druid's Brooch #9)Age of Druids by Christy Nicholas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Christy Nicholas is a great author. She has written an amazing series. I have read every book so far and I have to admit that this is my favorite so far. One thing I admire about her storytelling is that I get pulled in right away. Her attention to detail keeps me wanting to read the story until I am done with it. Her characters are fully developed and easy to imagine. In this story, Cliodhna’s family is missing her husband. She meets a stranger outside her home. This stranger tells her that he will help her. He will help her with her talents. There are choices that are made some good and some bad. Will the bad choices be more? Can they cost her family? I highly recommend reading this story so you can read about Cliodhna’s story and family. To see which path she is going to take.

By Kelli Kimble
5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading the book Bonds That Beckon (Daughters of Anubis Book 1) by Kelli Kimble. It is an amazing story and has amazing characters. I loved the character of Iris. She just wants to fit in in the small town of Salvation, Wes Virginia. When she meets Mr. Anu she is told many things about what she is. She is also drawn to a young man named Jacob. What does the future hold for Iris? Read this book to find out. I grew to care about Iris with each chapter that I read. She is intelligent, independent, and strong. I was rooting for her to find her way. I also enjoyed the character of Mr. Anu. He is so mysterious. Does Jacob feel drawn to Iris as well? Other characters are introduced and while some of them have their agenda others are helpful to Iris and her family. The author makes the story and the characters come alive. Don’t miss out on an exciting and entertaining story that you will not want to put down until the final page. It is a wonderful start to a series. I highly recommend it.

By Jae Dawson
5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading the book Moonlight and Belladonna: A Small Town Halloween Romance (Hartwood Holiday Romance) by Jae Dawson. It is a romance story that grabbed my attention from the very beginning. I loved the characters of Belladonna Pagano and Cade Owens. Belladonna is a woman who is intelligent, independent, and strong. She also is in fear of losing her current job. One play could make a difference. Cade is someone who has ended up with court-ordered community service. It is with Belladonna. There is an attraction between them that can’t be denied. What does the future hold for Belladonna and Cade? Read this book to find out. I loved the bantering that goes back and forth between Belladonna and Cade. There are sad moments as well as moments that touch your heart. I found myself rooting that Belladonna and Cade find happiness. Other characters are introduced, and I enjoyed reading about them and their interactions with Cade and Belladonna. This is a story that gives you a warm feeling and I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the final page. Don’t miss out on an amazing, entertaining, and romantic story. Age of Druids (Druid's Brooch #9)Age of Druids by Christy Nicholas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Age of Druids by Christy Nicholas is the ninth book in the Druids Brooch series. This series does not have to be read in order however I would definitely recommend it as I think you would miss a lot of the finer detail if you started from this book.
There are not many series that go on as long as this one, let alone would be able to hold my interest. And yet this book does it with ease as the author creates yet another interesting and unique story. I was immediately caught up in this story and found myself flying through the pages. Yet at the same time I wanted to stop and savour every page knowing that the series is coming to an end.
As much as I don’t want this series to end I am looking forward to seeing what is next for this author. It will be great to read something new and I am already looking forward to it.

Kismet heart: A Protector Romance by Brinda Berry is the first book in the Surviving Love novel. This is a book that is full of action and is fast paced and exciting. I loved the characters in this book – they had a strong connection and worked really well together. Each complimented the other and added so much to the story.
I haven’t read too much by this author but I do really enjoy her writing style. I like the way the story is built up slowly, nothing feeling forced or rushed and yet still having that exciting feeling to it. This book highlights this style really well and definitely makes me want to read even more by this author. Overall this was an enjoyable book with great characters that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I have read numerous stories from this author. I usually enjoy them and look forward to more. This one is a short read. It is very slow with a lot of narration. This one is good for a Halloween storytelling-time kind of year. It has spooky elements that are good for the dark room, eerie music, campfire telling. Just the execution could have been better. I am glad this isn’t my first book by this author, not sure I would look for more.

The Lies Between Us: Deadly Secrets Book 4The Lies Between Us: Deadly Secrets Book 4 by Cynthia Cooke
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Lies Between Us is the 4th Book in the Deadly Secrets series by Cynthia Cooke. Each book in the series can be read as a stand alone. I had not read any of the previous books in this series before this one and didn’t feel that I was missing any necessary information. In fact I had not read any of this author’s work before and was not sure what to expect from it but I did enjoy this book.
This is a romantic suspense novel which had me engaged in the story from the very beginning right up to the end. I really enjoyed the storyline and really liked the characters. Both of the main characters, Tom and Cat are realistic and likeable and I enjoyed reading their story and was intrigued as to how their story was going to turn out. As well as the main characters, there is a great secondary cast that really do add to the story.
This book is very much action packed. It’s full of danger and intrigue. There’s FBI, drug cartels, kidnapping, secrets and lies. The action starts form the very beginning and continues at a fast pace right up to the end. If you like an action packed story then I’d definitely recommend this book to you.

Key to Tirumfall (Tirumfall Trilogy #3)Key to Tirumfall by J. Drew Brumbaugh
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 3rd book in the Tirumfall Trilogy and I enjoyed it just as much as the first two books in the series. The characters are well written and the worlds are well described that you can imagine them. Because of this you don’t necessarily need to read the first two books as its a strong book on its own and easy to follow. However I would say reading the books in order will really bring the story together.

Gwen  is on the hunt for the Tower of Tirumfall. There is secret powers hidden inside that will make her become the best wizard ever. Before she leaves on her quest her parents break the news to her that she was kidnapped as a baby and that her parents were evil with her dad being a demon. With this new knowledge Gwen  sets out to find the tower but if she finds it how will the magic affect her. Will she be good or will her evil side take over.

Isabella was raised on the other side of the mountain with the demons and evil beings. She believes she is a child of prophecy but when she realises this isn’t true she sets out to find who she really is.

Both woman journeys lead them to each other but on their way the face things that somethings risk their lives. Can someone born evil overcome their instincts and be good? What secrets are hidden in the Tower and will they help or destroy the persons seeking it.

The Lies Between Us: A Psychic Romantic Suspense (Deadly Secrets Book 4) by Cynthia Cooke

Cooke has a new fan. The Lies Between Us had me on the edge of my seat. I could hardly put this down once I got started. This will definitely be a favorite of mine.

Cat feels like something is wrong with her husband. She calls her sisters and they fly to California. They find Tom, but will it last. The quote I chose for Cat is: “I love you. I never stopped loving you.”

Tom, an Undercover FBI Agent, is keeping secrets from his wife. When he starts wondering if he should leave she shows up. The quote I chose for Tom is: “Anita, you’re bleeding. You’ve been shot!”

This is highly recommended for romance lovers and everyone who loves a quick read.

Also Drained – By Monique Singleton, The Guardian’s Nightmare – By Yvette Bostic, Dungeons and Demons Part Two – By Kayla Krantz, and Jilted – By Azaaa Davis. I loved reading the book Breaking Tessa by T. Christensen. It is a story that will pull you in from the beginning. I loved the characters of Jordan Davis and Tessa Parker. Tessa is a young woman who doesn’t crave the spotlight. Jordan is someone who is used to the limelight. They find they have a connection and attraction to each other. There is no doubt as to their feelings for each other. Will their relationship work? Read this book to find out. Tessa and Jordan are characters that I grew to care about what happens to them with each chapter that I read. Tessa is intelligent and head over heels for Jordan. Jordan is an amazing basketball player who is on a path that has him a rising star. The book had my emotions going up and down. There are also very romantic scenes included. Don’t miss out on a story that will have you hooked and not wanting to put it down until the final page. I highly recommend reading it.

Wendigo Forest by C.A. King, Usa Today Bestselling Author – Review by Francis O’Sullivan

Wendigo ForestWendigo Forest by C.A. King
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wendigo Forest is an exciting Young Adult paranormal fantasy from C.A. King. I’ve enjoyed many of King’s books and this is a fun short read that introduces us to yet another world from her imagination.
Wendigo Forest is an urban fantasy. It feels a bit like Supernatural at times, if Sam and Dean had a teenager in tow who thought they had some exciting but decidedly un-supernatural job. Clara is tired of constantly moving from place to place, from school to school. She doesn’t see the point in trying to make new friends. At her new school, though, her classmates are going out of their way to welcome her and involve her in their community.
I liked the inclusion of Mr Flufunny! It makes a lot of sense that Clara would rely on a familiar comfort and seemingly silly rituals as her life is always so unsettled.
For me, this is a four-star book that left me wanting more. I really hope we get to hear how Clara’s next adventure goes (but if not, there’s plenty to inspire my imagination!).
Fans of C.A. King will love this new story, and it’s a great entry point. It’s a short, easy read and geared towards older teen and young adult readers so it’s a great way to get a taste of King’s fantastic writing and imagination before trying a longer book.

The Key to Tirumfall by J Drew Brumbaugh is the third novel in the Tirumfall Trilogy, and it was a great finale book! This was a great edition to a very epic series. The characters were great, and the events and storyline throughout did not disappoint. I was very satisfied with not only the ending of this trilogy, but the whole trilogy as well. It was a surprise I was not expecting to receive when I first started reading the first book. I highly recommend this novel and the whole series.

Shattered Snow (The Mirror Chronicles Book 1) by Rachel Huffmire – Review by Gail Guerrero

Five stars
I love when I find a story that draws me in fast. Where the author hooks my attention and I get consumed in the story. This is a retailing of a classic but with a twist. Well many twists. You don’t just get the typical “Once Upon A Time”. You get an adventure. The story has many selling points. The one I found the most interesting was the time travel. The way it worked and how the author interpreted it into the story. The characters growth and bond an amazing thing to witness. I could hardly put it down. The author made you think. I’m extremely excited that I found this story. The author has an interesting way of telling stories. The flow of the words on every page just beautifully written. There was only one thing I got messed up on it was keeping up with the laws and timeframe. Overall you will not be disappointed in this story. Not many stories out there that do so well in taking something you already love and giving it an amazing twist. There is romance but it’s not the main focus. That truly makes the love that they share seem more genuine.

Kismet Heart: A Protector Romance (A Surviving Love Novel Book 1)Kismet Heart: A Protector Romance by Brinda Berry
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Kismet Heart: A Protector Romance is the first book in the Surviving Love series by Brinda Berry. I hadn’t read her work before, but the book summary drew me in and I wanted to read it. Right from the start, I couldn’t put the book down. The story is so capturing, from the characters, to their history, to the mystery treasure hunt feel. Ace and Malerie are good leads and work together well. Malerie has quite the spunk and flirt for someone who never ventures outside. And Ace is quite mysterious but also very sweet and protective. The book was very well written, but the ending totally disappointed me. I felt like there was such a work up and intensity, and then it just cut off. I guess I was hoping for some big reveal, some twist, etc and it wasn’t how I expected it to end. Despite that, I still highly recommend the book because it was a great story. The character’s chemistry is perfectly built and it has a good level of mystery and suspense. I will definitely read more of Berry’s work.

The Opposite of Addie: A Novel (Friendship & Secrets) by Julie C. Gardner

5 Stars

This is my second book by this author and I loved this one as much as I did Forgetting Ophelia. The stories kinda intertwine and to get the full effect this book should be read first, but that’s just my opinion..It really does work either way.

I could not put this book down while reading. There were a lot of moving parts and a lot of deep emotions running through this story. I love the multiple POV’s, sometimes this does not work for me but in this author’s case it is done perfectly. There was so much pain that came with all of these characters but this made the healing process that much stronger all the way through, and not just for Jake and Addie but friendships and family relationships were as strong in this story, I loved this and so many times I sat with tears rolling down my face that I didn’t even realize were falling. I became invested in all of these characters straight away and I credit this author for that. Addie’s Moms story was unfolded beautifully and caught me totally off guard, explaining many of the questions I had throughout. She has an amazing talent for grabbing you and not letting go till the final word has been read.

You really must read this book, it will make you want to grab the next immediately and although I had already read it, I wanted to read it again.

Loved it and have added to my read again list!

High Heels And Mistletoe (Kisses Under The Mistletoe) by C.A. King, USA Today Bestselling Author

Page Count – 225 pages
Call it an allergy or a family curse, either way it boiled down to the same problem: Julietta Romero couldn’t go within six feet of mistletoe.
Forty-eight weeks, from January to the beginning of December, were spent filling the position as a top executive at a prestigious marketing firm—a five-year running record without a single incident. As long as she continued taking all her vacation hours all at the same time, nothing would change. Then, the worst scenario happened: with only a handful of days left before her flight, she found herself working round the clock on the firm’s biggest deal yet, and her boss wasn’t letting her leave until it was signed, sealed, and delivered.
Luke Winslow was in love with women, parties, and the holidays, and not necessarily in that order. Taking over one of his father’s companies didn’t fit into any of his plans, nor did a relationship that lasted longer than a roll in the sheets. There wasn’t a single person who had made him want to settle down and be serious, that was until she fell into his arms… several times. Now, he’ll do anything possible to stop her from escaping his charms, including holding off putting his John Hancock on the business deal his father instructed him to close.
It’s up to the magic of the season to bring this unlikely couple together with a little help from a pair of High Heels and Mistletoe.

I was diagnosed with clinical depression after the loss of my mother, father and husband within three years of each other; all to cancer. 24/7 in-home care, coupled with the loss I felt, left its mark on my psyche.

Depression takes up a lot of my life. Reading and writing are the only things I have found that help (in connection with regular medication), even if only for a short time. To escape to a different world can make a big difference in my mood in real time.

To put things in perspective, when I was at my lowest point, I couldn’t open mail, talk on the phone, or even drive to the store. Walls of sadness surrounded me. As they closed in, tears would fall. There didn’t need to be a reason or trigger.

People ask me why I started writing. My answer is simple: I wanted to create a world into which other people with similar problems could escape. I wanted to share the one place that had helped me for many years.

I have always said that as long as one person finds a little bit of happiness out of my books, I am, in my opinion, an accomplished author. The same is true for every writer out there. Please don’t ever let anyone tell you different.

I read books as well as write them and have visited the worlds many different authors have created. Those worlds not only make me feel better, but give me the strength to face real life again. I want to thank everyone who writes – I want them to know they are making a difference.

Fast forward to today…

Martin Ferguson – I live in Norwich, England and am currently working on the young adult adventure and historical series ‘Relic Hunters’. Inspired by the myths and legends my parents told me as a boy and with the help of my ever-suffering wife, a teacher and history graduate, ‘Eagle of the Empire’ was the first entry in the ‘Relic Hunters’ series.

When not writing, I am training or at least planning my next challenge. Following a serious knee injury, I was told by surgeons never to run or play sports again. Stubborn and reckless, much like the characters in my writing, I have not listened and have completed the Three Peaks Challenge, the Great North Run, the Greater Manchester Marathon and the London Marathon.

Another journey into the past with the supernatural fae. I like how the author has chosen Ireland of old and brought all the fae lore into it. I like how the characters seem to just jump right off of the pages and into my mind. I could feel the tensions and the drama.

This story really ticks the historical boxes for me and also the supernatural ones. I like how the author touches on the beginnings of Christianity as they started to come into the pagan society. I love the addition of the fae and the fae world. I like how the characters go from one realm to the other and I like the complex relationship between the characters is played out. I find that it really adds to the story and keeps the reader engaged. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Bishop's Gambit (Redclaw Origins, #2)Bishop’s Gambit by McKenna Dean
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was not honestly sure what to expect when I picked up Bishop’s Gambit as it was the second book in the series Redclaw Origins from McKenna Dean, but I knew I needed to read it the moment I saw the cover. It really drew me in and I had to know what adventure awaited the characters on gracing the cover. This book was quite the adventure and I was not disappointed. I do wish I just started with book one because I enjoyed it and would have had that backstory for the romance part of this novel. That may have made this even better so I will be doing a re-read once I read book one.

In Bishop’s Gambit we find the main characters, Peter Knight and Rhett Bishop, as they face a new assignment together professionally and also during the early stages of their relationship together. These two had me cracking up at times and on the edge of my seat at others. I loved the detective parts as much as the action and paranormal undertones as well. I am super excited to dive into this series more in the very near future!

A Beach Wedding To Die ForA Beach Wedding To Die For by Judy Moore
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Beach Wedding To Die For (Cozy Mysteries To Die For Book 2) by Judy Moore is a wonderful seaside mystery. When Beck is asked to be a bridesmaid for her old school friend, for the third time, she didn’t expect to put her newly found detective skills to use, trying to solve another murder. Beck is a tenacious and endearing character who easily gains the trust of the witnesses she speaks too but she doesn’t always like what she finds out. This is a lovely easy read book, I would recommend to lovers of the crime genre who are looking for a fun mystery without too much gore. I am, as always, looking forward to the next book in the series, I am still hoping that Beck gets her man in the form of the handsome detective Devon.

The Lies Between Us: A Psychic Romantic Suspense (Deadly Secrets Book 4) by Cynthia Cooke – Review by Liz Vrchota

The Lies Between Us: Deadly Secrets Book 4The Lies Between Us: Deadly Secrets Book 4 by Cynthia Cooke
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am familiar with a lot of Cynthia Cooke’s romance novels but this series I had not started yet. Holy Pete was I excited that I picked this one up. The Lies Between Us is the fourth book in the Deadly Secrets series from Cooke. This was not hard to read at all with being the fourth book and totally could be read as a stand alone read. With that said, I will be going back and reading the rest of the books available so far in this series ASAP. This book seriously sucked me in and took me on one heck of a roller coaster ride that I really didn’t want to ever get off. The energy and suspense and action is non-stop, keeping the reader on the edge of the seat waiting to find out how things will eventually come to a close.

We meet a married couple, Tom and Cat, who have been hiding some doozies of secrets from each other. These two both lead a fake life to cover reality. Tom is definitely not the pharmaceutical rep he claims to be. Instead he is a FBI agent! Cat has the Stepford housewife role down pat but really its hiding the fact she is a total bada** chick working for the CTA. This of course will make for a crazy read but there are multiple layers to this story that you just have to read to discover for yourself. I can’t wait to find out what the other books hold in store!

The Fire God Tour (Moore Family Saga Book 3) by Michele Sims – Review by Liz Vrchota

The Fire God Tour (Moore Family Saga)The Fire God Tour by Michele Sims
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the much anticipated third book in the Moore Family Saga from Michele Sims. I have really loved this series and I was excited to see what this book would bring us. In The Fire God Tour we find a much more grown up Miles aka Ari, who has finally learned his niche in the world of music and is quite the sensation with his fire acts as well as his musical talent. He feels like life is complete but then walks in Bella Wahlberg. Bella is an instant attraction but soon earns the nickname of Ice Princess. Will these two find a way to each other’s hearts? The adventure from beginning to end was just as fabulous as I hoped. The imagery this author writes is vibrant and fun, making you feel as if you are right there with the characters. I enjoyed this so much and hope to see more books in the near future from Michele Sims.

The Queen’s Dog (An Empire at Twilight Novel) by N.L. Holmes – Review by Kerry Carr

The Queen's DogThe Queen’s Dog by N.L. Holmes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a great story to read and really well written. The author really brings the story and characters to life and even though it is set in the past it isn’t confusing to read. It follows an classic story of a lover scorned.

Naheshi  is a eunuch slave who’s job is to do the bidding of the queen. Naheshi is seen as safe as he has no interest in woman. However that all changes after one intimate moment with the Queen.

Naheshi falls in love with the Queen but when he realises  that his feelings aren’t returned and that he means nothing to her he feels hurt and angry.

When Nasheshi gets approached by the Queens mother in law and asked to spy on the Queen Nasheshi agrees as revenge for his hurt feelings.

Now the Queen is facing execution. Can Nasheshi help safe the only woman he loves or will he leave her to face the consequences alone?
