Self Made (Freshwater Book 2)Self Made by Belinda Williams
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After reading Book 1 in this series, and thoroughly enjoying it, I’m so glad that we got Jessica and Ant’s story, these two intrigued me previously and couldn’t wait to find out more! This book was captivating and utterly brilliant from the get-go. These are well-developed characters with an amazing storyline that I couldn’t help but love following along with it. I absolutely loved Jessica’s and Ant chemistry and watching their relationship grow. This book while being a sweet romance read, it still gave you all the feels, which I think makes it that much better! I loved this read and I can’t wait for more! I highly recommend this read, this series and more importantly this author!

Everyday Enchantments: Musings on Ordinary Magic & Daily Conjurings by Maria DeBlassie

This is the first book I’ve read by the author and as a non-fiction it won’t be my last. Usually I don’t do non-fiction, but when I saw this book I picked it up.

DeBlassie has a way with words and throughout the entire book you learn different things. Each chapter will teach you something new.

The quote I chose for the book is: Goodbye Old Man Gloom, today and every day. With my light, I banish you. With my light, I banish stagnate energies. With my light, I banish old selves that no longer serve me. With my light, I banish the woe others cast my way. I let the flames of my soul burn them alive until they are nothing but ash and charred bits of history, good for nothing but fuel for my cosmic compost.

Highly recommended for non-fiction lovers.

Spicetopia Boxed Set (Books 1-4) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Carrie Reed

Spicetopia Boxed Set (Books #1-4)Spicetopia Boxed Set by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Stars!
An amazing set of books. From he first book I was hooked on the story and the concept of an adult theme park. Each book of this series I picked up pulled me in right away and left me begging for more. I love that you would think the story should be over and what left is there, but then here comes another book, with a new set of characters with a new bunch of drama and romance and a whole lot more fun at the park. The box set includes Sugar & Spice, Virtue & Vice, Fire & Ice and Naughty & Nice. The names of the books alone captured me, each book will always have the two people that started it all, Cyrus and Jolie, it is nice to see their story still unfold through each book. I highly recommend this series, it is steamy, has drama, fun, I think I’m the point where Phoebe Alexander should just go ahead and start the first adult theme park and make this a reality!

THE PATIENCE OF KARMA (A Madeline Dawkins Mystery #5) by Cynthia Hamilton – Review by Angela Shirley

The Patience of KarmaThe Patience of Karma by Cynthia Hamilton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Patience of Karma is the fifth book in the Madeline Dawkins series and this book follows on from the intense stories that have rocked these two loveable characters.

The story sets up with them having been married for four months and they are still delving into the world of the PI’s while still trying to escape her ex-husband and with secrets threatening to shake there world, it’s just another day in the lives of these two characters.

This next adventure has them searching for a lost nephew who could save his sister, they are engaged to follow a woman who’s famous husband thinks she is having an affair and many more come out of the woodwork.

This story continues to enlighten you with the history of the two main characters although this story heavily sides towards Mike which is great to see inside such a brilliant developed character. Although there is a arc that runs through all the books you can still read this as a standalone. With the twists and turns, drama which is associated with a Madeline Dawkins book this one does not disappoint. I can’t wait for the next installment in this great series.

Self Made (Freshwater Book 2) by Belinda Williams is a fun and quirky romance. We met Jess and Ant in the first book and now we have their story. There is depth to the characters, and each has their own profession that make them so different. One a health and fitness guru and the other a comedian. It is a story of opposites attract and the fun begins as Jess tries to remake the man. The story is steamy and an easy and an enjoyable afternoon read.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Secure Heart (Chase Security Series Book 3) by R.L. Dunn was a great 5 star read.
Once I started I didn’t want to put it down. I was excited to read Julian’s story.

Holly is a singer and songwriter trying to make ends meet for her and her son. When something scary happens to her she decides to hire Chase Security which is where she meets Julian. The more time they spend together feelings start to develop.

Julian has started with Chase Security and is trying to move forward from his past. He gets a job watching over a single mom and her daughter. He’s also working on a serial killer case. Will he be able to help them and find the serial killer?

Overall this was a great read. I was on the edge of my seat, waiting to see what was coming next. We get action, love, suspense and so much more. All of the characters added a great element to the story. The author does a great job of pulling you in with her writing. CAFE CONFIDENTIAL: An Unfiltered and Intimate Memoir by Lynda Filler is such an interesting and entirely inspiring story. I love to travel, but I really don’t think I could have done what Lynda did- sell up everything, and then jump on a plane with little more than a pocket full of one way tickets. That was really brave, and so adventurous.
This story takes us along on her travels, a real journey of discovery- whilst also sending a message that it’s never too late to follow your dreams. With photographs sprinkled throughout, they really help to enrich the story.
Ms. Fillers writing never fails to keep me captivated- and her memoir did all that and then some!
Inspiring!

Thank you, Lynda Filler!

The Patience of Karma (The Madeline Dawkins Series Book 5) by Cynthia Hamilton. These books never disappoint me. Once again I was so completely hooked and happy to get lost in the pages. The world this author has created never gets old to me each book I find myself on the edge of my seat and trying to figure everything out before the end. The characters are complex and relatable, they pull you into their world and I loved every minute of it. The storyline is well thought out and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. Even the smallest of details are focused on and each page gets better than the last. Five big stars all the way and highly recommended!

The characters draw you into their world and it’s definitely easy to get wrapped up and lost in the pages for a while which I was happy to do. There’s lots going on but the author does a great job of not making it overwhelming to readers. The characters are complex and the storyline is well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. I love the fast paced world this author has given readers. I really enjoy reading The Blackened Series from Isra Sravenheart. Her Blackened Heart is the second book in the series and I would personally recommend that you read the first one before diving into this one to get the whole effect of the story and the characters that are in it. I really loved the dark undertones but the way the author makes you still fall in love with the darkest of characters. In this one Lady Isra is back at her dark and dubious ways in this one. We find her and her raven companion holed up in their fortress and protected by a magic spell. However, things still find a way in and thus end up in the wicked web that Isra so loves to weave. I loved this one and I am even more anxious to get my hands on the next installment. I can’t wait to find out what wicked ways we will find Lady Isra up to next!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely love The Chase Security Series. Secure Heart is Book 3 in the series. All of the books are great and detailed. The author did a great job giving the readers what they like.
Julian and Holly are both great characters. There’s other characters in the book from previous books but this one focuses on these main characters. My favorite is Sadie though. Holly is an up and coming singer who ends up needing a great security team to help keep herself and her daughter Sadie safe. Who else is there aside from the Chase team! They are the best. Julian and Holly begin to get close but, both have a terrible past. Will they be able to let each other in or will they just end up with a professional relationship? When Holly and Julian both have people after them, what can they do? Is it the same person? Will they be able to get through these attacks in one piece? There’s a lot of action in this book and some suspense. You definitely don’t want to miss out on this book. I would also recommend reading the others in the series. You will not be disappointed.

Secure Heart (Chase Security Series Book 3)Secure Heart by R.L. Dunn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Secure Heart is the third book in R.L. Dunn’s Chase Security Series and I was absolutely delighted to discover that it was about Julian that I got so intrigued by in the previous book! He is the embodiment of his call name “Smooth” and I can only imagine the pressure that comes with that and I absolutely admired how he carried it. I was also delighted to get to San Diego branch of Chase Security (the one missing now is the New York branch and I hope that we will get there soon with Tighe and Lissa!) and meeting the crew there!
In the center of the story is Holly D and her four-year-old daughter Sadie and when two broken people meet and the stars align, magic happens … the pain that Holly carries, the pain that Julia carries, the maturity that the four year old Sadie expresses … it has been a while since I cried as much as I did when reading Secure Heart …
The human depravity is something that the writer excels at writing about, the feeling of reality that it evokes and the pain we feel when we read the stories … I bow my head to her talent and I hope that she will keep the stories coming our way!

Secure Heart (Chase Security Series #3) by R.L. Dunn – Review by Jennifer Gordon

Secure Heart (Chase Security Series Book 3)Secure Heart by R.L. Dunn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel which although book three in the ‘Chase Security Series’ can be read as a standalone story. However some of the characters do crossover as the series is about the Chase brothers and their team. Having read the previous books I was looking forward to this one and was not disappointed. ‘Secure Heart’, is Julian and Holly’s story, and former Navy SEAL and widower Julian “Smooth” Dupart is the new head of the Chase Group in San Diego and is “breaking up” with his bottle of bourbon. Indie performing artist Holly Dupree Morrison had an abusive childhood followed by abusive relationships. Sadly her four year old daughter Sadie who has a compromised heart needs surgery after taking bad medication from the Chase Group Health Center. Meanwhile, Julian has discovered that his company had been distributing substandard and counterfeit medication. Holly is forced to hire Chase Security when a stalker nearly kills her and a remorseful Julian vows to protect her and Sadie.

Cheerful and sassy Sadie steals Julians heart and so does her Mum but he worries that he can’t face loosing Sadie to the same illness that his wife died from. Holly is concerned about trusting her heart to Julian despite their shared chemistry and mutual attraction. It’s not just Holly who finds herself in danger as someone seems out to get Julian and Chase Security as well. In the background San Diego has a serial kidnapper on the loose who tortures women and abducts their children. Julian and his colleagues have to discover how the threats to Holly and the threats to the company are connected to the kidnapper and work out how to stop them before anymore women and children are taken.

This was an eventful novel which was full of drama, suspense and of course romance. The storyline had me hooked from start to finish and the plot kept me gripped wanting to find out how it was all going to end. I loved the main characters, Julian, Holly and Sadie and how the relationships developed between all three of them. The chemistry between Julian and Holly really came across and I liked how their tentative romance developed throughout the story. An enjoyable and engaging book which I recommend.

THE PATIENCE OF KARMA (A Madeline Dawkins Mystery #5) by Cynthia Hamilton – Review by Lianne Probert

The Patience of KarmaThe Patience of Karma by Cynthia Hamilton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Patience of Karma is the fifth book in the Madeline Dawkins series by Cynthia Hamilton. This story can be read without having to read the rest of the series, but I would recommend starting at book one. The story and the characters have developed so much throughout that you will be missing out if you don’t.

Book five starts back with Madeline and Mike, now a few months into their marriage. As usual they both have their separate cases to work on, but come together to help each other work through plots, stories and to work things out. The cases are not without their challenges, and although they are almost like reading two different stories the author manages to bring them together as one.
Madeline and Mike are tested in many ways in this story, and their relationship continues to grow.
I’ve been a huge fan of this series from the start, and this book doesn’t disappoint. I have loved seeing the development in the characters of Madeline and Mike, both separately and as a couple. They bring out the best in each other in so many ways.
The author, as always, has done her research and this shines through in the story. I would recommend this series to get stuck in to.

Secure Heart (Chase Security Series #3) by R.L. Dunn

Another great read by Dunn! This is part of the Chase Security Series, but can be read as a stand alone. Dunn has a skill of making you fall in love.

Julian is missing his wife and takes to the bottle. His family doesn’t know and his friends help him out. When he’s moved closer to family he finds himself falling. The quote I chose for Julian is: “I’m the hard a**, Julian Dupart. You two were hired to replace one person: Mia Donnelly. According to your resumes, each of you hold all the specific requirements to meet the conditions of this job on your own. You received huge salary bumps and countless perks. I walked down to your office with the intentions of getting to know you and discussing the issues concerning the branch. Instead, two blivets greeted me with attitude and boredom, wasting time playing games. Both of you are on notice. Go home now, and tomorrow, return with a new attitude and work ethic if you want to continue being employed by this organization. OUT!”

Holly is a single mom who isn’t happy. She finds that her kid is sick and wants to help. Things get tough and she isn’t sure who to turn to. The quote I chose for Holly is: “Well, Momma , I guess it’s my time to take over your business.”

Highly recommended for romance lovers.

I loved reading the book Shattered Reality (Summoned Book 1) by C.A. King. It is a story that includes magic, mystery, and danger. Once I started reading, I was hooked. I enjoyed reading about the character Mudesa Black. She is a psychiatrist and someone intelligent, independent, and strong. She has now found herself on her way back home, a place that she hasn’t been to in a long time. It is there that she meets Perry P, a private investigator. He is handsome, charming, and has Mudesa taking a second look. Will Mudesa find out the mystery behind her fears? What will she find at her family’s estate? Read this book to find out. This story had me turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. I found the character of Mudesa changing as the story progressed. I was rooting for her to succeed in finding out the mystery she uncovers once returns home. The author has created a wonderful fantasy book in which the story and the characters come alive on the page. Don’t miss out on an exciting and entertaining book that you will not want to put down until the final page. I highly recommend reading it.

Secure Heart (Chase Security Series Book 3)Secure Heart by R.L. Dunn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 3rd book in the Chase Security Series and its just as gripping as the first 2. The love story is really touching and emotional that you cant help but love the characters. Along with that story there is also the mystery, mayhem and terror which surrounds Chase Security and the people they protect.

In this story we follow Julian. We found out a little about him in previous books but in this book we learn all about him. I like Julian’s character. He is smart, amazingly good at his job and has a heart of gold.

After being transferred to the San Diego part of Chase Security he realised that things in that part of the business aren’t what they seem and what he unravels will shock and amaze.

As well as this element there is also a romance and this happens with Holly. Holly has had a troubled past but is now making a life for herself and her daughter. With a manager trying to get his claws into her and a crazy fan threatening her safety she hires Chase Security and more importantly Julian to protect her.

Can Julian save her from the dangers around her? Is he able to open his heart and learn to love again? Will Holly see him for the man he is or will she think he is just like all the other men in her life?

I loved reading the book Child of Prophecy (The Tirumfall Trilogy BOOK 2) by J Drew Brumbaugh. It is a story that includes action, danger, magic, and comradery. A prophecy is about to come true that has Gant and those with him springing into action. A prophecy about a child that will lead an army to victory over Gant and the surrounding lands. Read this book to find out the full story of what happens. This story is fast-paced and has plenty of adventure. I love the character of Gant. He is someone that you want on your side of the battle. I also loved reading about additional characters such as Amelia, Pris, and Dalphnia. They have been brought forward from the first story. Many other characters help in this journey. It is awesome how the characters care about what happens to each other. The book had me turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. She’s No Cowgirl was a wonderful read by Brooke May! I loved the characters and I found I was easily engaged in their story. I liked that this was a little different to what I anticipated, it was unpredictable and I was hooked the whole way through. I’ve read books by this author previously so I knew the writing would be good and I wasn’t disappointed. Hunter and Kennedy were great characters, they had a great connection and there was some good chemistry between them. Their passion for sport really shone through in the story and this definitely helped with their relationship. I’ve not read any of the other books in this series but I think I shall be looking for them.
Overall a really enjoyable 4 star read and one that I would definitely recommend.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Better To Have Loved by Christy Nicholas is a touching romance that is vastly different to her other books as this one is based on her family. Christy has bravely shared the story of her parents. The story does jump backward and forward between the past/present and memories and can be a bit confusing but once that is under control you get lost in the story and the real life characters. It is a story of self discovery and fighting between your own needs and those of family. It is two stories of two women one from the past and one from the present and the search for answers on who they are and what makes them, them.

Eternal Wanderings: The Continuing Journey of Kara O’Keefe by Danielle Ackley-McPhail is a very short and original fantasy story with a few odds and sods added to the end of the book. Danielle always paints a vivid tale that makes it easy to journey along with the characters. The Patience of Karma by Cynthia Hamilton is the fifth book in the Madeline Dawkins series. This book can be read as a standalone however in my opinion it is definitely worth reading this whole series! It is always so easy to fall straight back into the Madeline Dawkins life and the cases that she is solving. It feels like you don’t leave them behind at all at the end of each book.
This book was an interesting one to read. There was a lot going on for the characters all at once but it added more to the depth of the book and made it exciting to read. I was intrigued as to how it was all going to turn out and that kept the pages turning quickly. This is another great addition to the series and I am looking forward to seeing what comes next.

She’s No Cowgirl by Brooke May is the fifth book in the My Cowboy series. This book can be read as a standalone so you don’t need to have read the previous books in the series first. I thought this was a really good sport romance story. It was a sweet, fairly easy read but had great characters with a strong connection between them. I really thought that you could feel the connection between them.
The story itself is entertaining too. With romance and scandal it made for a fun read and the whole way through I really wanted the characters to find a way to make their relationship work. The author paced the story well so that it built up nicely and really got you invested in the story! This was a great book and one I thoroughly enjoyed.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Love on the Ropes was a really nice and enjoyable romantic read by an author I absolutely adore. I’m not sure it’s my favourite book from Ms Vaughn but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved Erin and Clint, they had a great banter between them (albeit they hated each other) and a nice amount of chemistry. I liked Erin from the very start, she was such a relatable character and I really enjoyed getting to know her from the start. Clint made me work a bit harder to get to know him but I liked that, his character developed nicely over the story.
Overall I really enjoyed the story and as always I look forward to reading more from Ms Vaughn in the future!
