This is such a precious book. I have read more books in this series and each book is a gem. Especially if you are a pet owner or love animals, you will find that the books in these series highlight subtle points which we might have overlooked in the past. Told from the point of view of two kittens, Oscar and Emmy, these topics raise awareness and urge the owners to be more responsible. In this book, Oscar and Emmy encounter a hurricane. This book talks about emergency preparedness, and discusses in detail the disaster preparedness kit which has to be made ready for pets, especially you live in areas prone to natural calamities. The kit should contain food, medication, dog collars, leash, potty bags etc which will be required for your pet. This is such an educative book and told in such a light way to the kids, We adults have a lot more to learn too from this series. Highly recommend.

I have been reading this book to my kid for bedtime and I have to say they have been absolutely loving them. this book had been written for a child to understand, and this one was all about how to survive a hurricane, and what you should be preparing for. Its about how you can survive and what you need for a storm. This also helped because where I am we’ve been getting lots of thunder and rainstorms lately. The illustrations just like the last ones were just as good and went along with the story nicely. Can’t wait to read more of them to me kids.

My entire household loves the Oscar and Emmy series, so of course we picked this one up as soon as we saw it. We don’t live in an area that experiences hurricanes which made it a good learning lesson for both of my kids. The author has such a magnificent way of informing kids at an appropriate age level without scaring them or diminishing the experience. Oscar and Emmy aren’t sure what to make of all the movements throughout the story, but they go along with their family. The illustrations help with connecting younger kids to the story as well. I believe this is an excellent book to read as a family or in a classroom!

It’s my favorite set of kittens coming back to help small children and their families understand more about how to deal with inclement weather. This book specifically goes over a hurricane that is close by and how they are going to handle it properly and safely. It goes over the preparation humans should take regarding their safety, as well as that of their four legged friends.
The illustrations will keep your youngsters attention even if the content is a little over their head at their age. This is a must have for any family with pets!

Terri Sabol’s Oscar and Emmy series makes the reader take a step back and remember that as important as it is for you to have a plan for disasters it’s important to have them for your pets too. As the news showed in the book several abandon their pets out of the lack of a plan and preparation for what’s needed to take them. Added facts on details and more information on what’s needed for pet emergency kits is amazing. Also, this book teaches the reader to have empathy for those less fortunate in disasters and small ways they can help that leave big impacts like making cookies and teaching others how to make a kit for their pets.

What an informative story. From reading the title we learn this is based on a true story. Very adorable illustrations of the cats and their humans. Learning about emergency kits and evacuations. In the book, twins Abby and Charlie,help their mom and dad get ready for the hurricane. They also make sure their cats, Oscar and Emmy, are safe and well taken care of in the event of a major disaster. This book is well written and great illustrations. The facts in the back about Hurricane Harvey is a nice touch. The checklist that’s provided for things to have ready in case of an emergency for pets is great. That can be utilized for any number of emergency situations. A quick read for little ones who may get anxious when it comes to storms to help calm their fears. My son and I love reading Oscar and Emmy books together. They are fun and educational. While we live no where near the coast, and will likely never encounter a hurricane, we enjoyed Oscar and Emmy Weather a Hurricane. I like that after the story it has facts about hurricanes, so we can learn a little more. Abby and Charlie are preparing for a hurricane to hit their home town, and their parents engage them in helping prepare for their pets Oscar and Emmy as well. They also teach us about when to evacuate and move to somewhere safer. These books are wonderful for children to learn about the topic of the story, in a less scary way.

I love that this author include life lessons and important skills like how prepare for a natural disaster like a Hurricane. The illustrations are wonderful and bring the story to life. Oscar and Emmy are at it again as we learn the importance of natural disaster preparation. Making sure you have prepared pet disaster kits. Read this story to learn how to Plan, Prepare and Protect your pets . My son loved this book and we literally read it several times already and I’m sure we will several more. I thought this was a great tool for many. it is a children’s book however, adults should also know the important details that are mentioned. I for one, go down in my basement annually and change out the cat / dog food we have set aside. We also have kits for the humans and for the pets. Keeping our pets safe and calm is very important in any emergency. I loved how the twins understand how important it is.

This is the yet another great book by this author. I really like how the author is able to bring the adorable cat characters to life and teach valuable life lessons. The author is able to handle this topic really well and explain it to kids. I just wish my kids were younger. I definitely would recommend this to parents with kids. The characters are well written and the illustrations to this book are really good. I definitely would read more from this author.

I love these Oscar and Emmy books. I have read a few of them with my 7yo son. He also always enjoys them. They are not only fun and entertaining, they are also full of life lessons and education. That doesn’t make them boring though. The author weaves essential information right into the story. Often, at the end, the author includes super helpful lists or information about what the story was about. This one in particular deals with an extreme hurricane. It teaches kids (and possibly even parents) how to be prepared to handle a hurricane. Especially with tips for pets! This book includes a list at the end that you and kids can use to be prepared.

This book is another fantastic addition to the adventures of Oscar and Emmy. I really do enjoy the way that the author tells these stories through the eyes of the cats, and how entertaining she makes it. It perfectly engages the intended audience with a fun yet educational story. The illustrations are imaginative and beautifully drawn. They really bring the story to life and make it easy to picture everything that is going on. Sweet book. I love the art work in the Oscar and Emmy books, the cats looks so cute and cuddly. I really like that in Oscar and Emmy books you learn something, and this book is all about hurricanes and how to protect yourself and your family in an event. There is a page that shows what you should grab in regards to your animals such as, food, water, medicines, paperworks etc. I never would have though to move as much as you can, if you have time, to your top floor if you have one, to try to keep as much as possible. The ending when the Charlie and Abby see others have struggled during the hurricane and tell their parents they want to help. Teaching kids to help others is beautiful.

It stressed the importance of having an emergency box for each member of the house and making sure that when a storm is on its way you should get them out, updated, and ready. It also stressed the need to evacuate if told to do so. The story is very realistic on what happens during a hurricane. The author shows how having pets is a great responsibility and how the children in the story are very helpful. I love how the author incorporates the quirks of Oscar and Emmy to give the readers some relief during the story. The artwork is very well done also.
