Love & Omens (Crescent City Ghost Tours, #2)Love & Omens by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second book in this series, it just keeps getting better. I was pulled into the story from the start and couldn’t put it down until the last page. Sydney and Blake are great characters and the emotional rollercoaster ride as well as the suspense, mystery they took me on you won’t want to miss. They have a past but will there be a second chance in their future? Survival is a race against time, will time run out?. I highly recommend reading the rest of their story.

Love & Omens (Crescent City Ghost Tours, #2)Love & Omens by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Love & Omens is the second book in the Crescent City Ghost Tours series. It can be read as a standalone, but I think the best enjoyment would come after reading the first book. You’ll get a better feel for the characters from the first book that are mentioned in this one. Plus, the first book was awesome!

Dealing with a psychic gift can be tricky. Syd makes a judgment call but it turns out to be a big mistake. When she gets a second chance at making it right, will she take it? I love second chance stories because it brings up a feeling of hope.

As always, I love this author’s ability to paint vivid pictures and develop intriguing characters. I also loved the use of psychometry in this story. It isn’t a gift a lot of authors write about when choosing the powers their character has.

I hope there are more books planned for this series!

Knowing how things will end before they even begin is a curse New Orleans tour guide Sydney Park has endured since she was a child. Her premonitions make surprises few and far between, and dating…

What’s the point?

Reading the past in objects has caused more trouble for Blake Beaumont than he cares to admit. Opening the Museum of the Macabre is his last attempt at using his ability and his college degree to make a living.

But the artifacts he’s acquired have haunting attachments that could put everyone’s lives in danger.

When Blake joins forces with Sydney’s tour company, he jumps at the chance to rekindle his relationship with her. She can’t help but fall for him all over again, until an ominous vision of a closed-casket funeral stops her cold.

Someone she loves is going to die.

If Sydney and Blake can’t unravel the mystery, their haunted pasts will eclipse any chance of a future.

If you like strong heroines and haunting mystery, you’ll love this spellbinding tale of romance in the Big Easy.

Carrie Pulkinen is a paranormal romance author who has always been fascinated with things that go bump in the night. Of course, when you grow up next door to a cemetery, the dead (and the undead) are hard to ignore. Pair that with her passion for writing and her love of a good happily-ever-after, and becoming a paranormal romance author seems like the only logical career choice.

Before she decided to turn her love of the written word into a career, Carrie spent the first part of her professional life as a high school journalism and yearbook teacher. She loves good chocolate and bad puns, and in her free time, she likes to read, drink wine, and travel with her family.

Dark Feathers by Natalina Reis

5-Stars

Dark Feathers by Natalina Reis was a wonderful 5-star, Fantasy, Romance read. I absolutely loved this novel. I was hooked from the beginning and could not put this book down. Jo and Nix were excellent characters to follow as the main characters of the story. The author did wonderful with both of their development and you can see their personalities mature as the story progresses. I also enjoyed how descriptive the author was with each setting. I found that it was easy to visualize where scenes would take place because of that.

This novel is the second in this series but can be read as a standalone. It would be a better fit for those of more mature minds possibly 16+ in age due to sexual content and language. It is easy to follow and creative. I highly recommend it!

I give Dark Feathers by Natalina Reis, 5 stars.

Phoenix is a dark angel minion who has been at the mercy of his master’s torture for so long, that’s all he remembers. While he is waiting in earth to bring another soul to his master, a human comes by and she can see him. This is unheard of and his master wants him to find out more about this woman. So he is sent to earth to see if she is a threat. He is able to insert himself into her life and the more he is with her, the more he feels things he thought he never would. He feels more and more that maybe she is someone he wants to be with, be he can’t. Can he? What would the cost be? When her life is in danger, he finds out just what he really will do for this woman.

As much as she loves him, Joan just wants to live a life away from her brother and have a life of her own. So she moves to another town and gets a place of her own. Not quite able to pull it all off on her own, she advertises for a roommate. The man who answers seems like the perfect candidate, although it’s obvious to her that he has secrets. But he is so much better than the others, and he is quite good looking to top it all off. He quickly find a spot in her heart, but how will she feel when she learns the real reason he was sent hear? Can she trust him?

If you have read Lavender Fields by this author, you may remember Joan. It has been quite a while since I read it, and I didn’t not put the connection together at first. Once I did, I was so excited because I knew I would love this whole book! The characters are spectacular, Joan and Phoenix make wonderful primary characters — relatable and each struggle with their own problems. The secondary characters just add more flavor. Some we may remember as well a some news ones to add to the mix. Not to mention the story itself — the feelings Phoenix and Joan have for each other is there pretty quickly. But so is there is also suspense thrown in involving both Joan and Phoenix. I could not wait to finish this book, it was so good!

This is a wonderful paranormal romance and I highly recommend this book.

The story Dark Feathers is an amazing book to read. It will pull you in from the very beginning and doesn’t let you go until you have read the final page. I loved the characters of Phoenix and Joan. What does the future hold for them? Read this book to find out. Phoenix and Joan are characters that I grew to care about with each chapter that I read. There are also others that I enjoyed their characters and how they interact with the main ones. The story has heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. It has romantic moments that will have your heart being stolen away. This is a book I would highly recommend.

Dark Feathers is a novel by Natalia Reis. This is my second novel by this author.

Phoenix is a dark angel who fall asleep with the human he is supposed to keep tabs on. When he makes the decision to protect her, his boss sees her as a threat. To what lengths will he go to protect her?

I really enjoyed this novel. It reminds me a little of the other novel I read by this author.

I love stories where the male falls in love unexpected and has to find a way to protect them.

For anyone looking for a quick paranormal romance read, I recommend

Dark Feathers by Natalina Reis is another wondrous tale by this talented author. This is probably my favourite by Natalina and that is saying something because I just loved the first one, Lavender Fields. Natalina has woven a magical story where I easily got swept away with the characters that I fell in love with in the previous book. It’s been two years since Lavender Fields, but I am glad we have finally gotten here. Absolutely beautiful Natalina. Don’t forget the tissues. I love me some angels. I won’t share the story as I want you to truly experience it all by yourself.

Drawing Strength From Words (A Four Horsemen Novel Book 2)Drawing Strength From Words by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the second of the Four Horseman novels and I find myself anxiously anticipating the next two. In this quick little romance poor Ryder never seems to catch a break. One mess after another. He just can’t keep it together. Then the beautiful Gabrielle walks into his life. Will he make a mess of this too? Gabrielle, beautiful, strong and coolly intelligent. Will she take a second look at this poor mess of a guy? Everything is not as it seems, and the mysterious Dante complicates matters immensely. You will need to pick this little novel up and give it a quick read. In Drawing Strength From Words, C. A. King gives us strong characters and a unique little adventure.

Drawing Strength From Words by C.A. King is a quick light read. It is book 2 in the Four Horsemen series. This book is about Gabrielle who is one of the horsemen which I thought was super cool and unique to have a woman in that role. I only say that because most things I have seen always portray them as men. Overall I enjoyed the book. I thought it was a fun read and I look forward to others. 4 star rating.

Five Stars

Dark Feathers is a paranormal romance by Natalina Reis. This is one of the best books I have read by Natalina. It had me hooked from the very first page and I couldn’t put it down until the last. I would highly recommend that you read Lavender Fields because there are recurring characters from that book in this masterpiece. They are both five star reads. This book features Phoenix who is a dark angel sent to spy on Joan, and Joan is looking for a roommate, not love. Somehow, when they meet emotions start churning and they find themselves trying to win the right to live and love each other. This book will take you on a roller coaster ride that you won’t want to get off. If you love paranormal or just a great romance, this is the book for you.

I was immediately sucked into this book and after about 2 chapters, i realized everyone seemed familiar and then it clicked (I was slow on the uptake) and this book follows the little sister from the book Lavender Fields. I don’t feel it is necessary to read that book to read and understand this one, but if you fall in love with this book, You’ll want that book too!
Joan, oh Joan and her potty mouth! She’s spunky and not afraid to tell you like it is and exactly what she expects to happen or how she feels.
Nix, oh what a guy. Poor thing was so lost yet knew something was amiss and until Joan, he had no idea things could or should be different.
My heart broke a couple times but in the end I was happy. Great book!

Dark Feathers by Natalina Reis – Review by Francis O’Sullivan

Dark FeathersDark Feathers by Natalina Reis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dark Feathers is a paranormal romance by Natalina Reis. It is a standalone novel, set in the same world as her book Lavender Fields with many characters appearing from the earlier book. It follows Phoenix, a dark angel sent to spy on Joan, a young woman who could see him when he was supposed to be invisible to humans. Joan’s search for a roommate provides the perfect opportunity for Phoenix to keep an eye on her, and (of course) fall in love.
Reis has a well-established system of angels, and Lavender Fields has already given us plenty of insight into the trouble they can get into. Although much of the world-building has been done before, Phoenix being a dark angel gives Reis a chance to explore more of the system and remind or introduce readers to the world from a different perspective.
Joan is a caring, loveable character. Her passion for baking speaks of her commitment to making others happy, and she is quick to note Phoenix’s favourite type of cookies. Phoenix is at times broody and reclusive, and Joan works hard to cheer him up and bring him out of his shell. As someone whose life experience so far has consisted almost entirely of pain and suffering, including sexual abuse, the positive and loving relationship does wonders for Phoenix, who reciprocates by setting out to protect Joan regardless of the cost.
This is an enjoyable page-turner of a book – definitely five stars! I would recommend it to fans of angel romances (and, let’s face it, who doesn’t enjoy a good angel romance?). You can definitely enjoy this book without having read Lavender Fields, but for me it was really great seeing how Caleb and Sky were getting on.

Drawing Strength From Words (A Four Horsemen Novel Book 2)Drawing Strength From Words by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Drawing Strength from Words by C.A. King a five-star read that turns myths on their heads. This is number two in the Four Horseman novels series and they go from strength to strength, I read number one a while ago and then read number two and three in very quick succession and now I just need number four. Out of the three I have read so far number two is my current favourite as it just takes the whole story and adds something extra to it, this whole series has been full of twists and turns and has kept me in the edge of my seat all the way though, but this one just had the extra layer. Gabriel what a character, she really does pull I out of the box, ad when you add Ryder to the mix it just creates an explosive story that will suck you in, spitting you out the other side changed.

It had everything and more that I need from a fantasy read, it has some action, some adventure with a twist of suspense and then its made even better by it being a romance. I absolutely loved Phoenix & Joan they were real, relatable and lovable and I couldn’t help but be totally captivated by their journey/story.

I just finished reading my new favourite book from Natalina Reis. I know I tend to say ‘favourite’ every time she releases a new book- but this story has everything you could want from a great paranormal romance. Fantastic characters, chemistry, secrets, suspense, a little danger, drama, and a wonderfully captivating storyline. I couldn’t love it more than I did. Ms. Reis met all my expectations, and more! Colour me hooked!
Dark Feathers weaves a wonderful tale of a dark angel named Phoenix who falls in love with a human, Joan. He was sent on a mission, but never expected to be so drawn to the woman he was meant to keep tabs on. But the higher power he answers to has Joan firmly in their sights- and things won’t end well for her unless Xander intervenes. Placing himself in harm’s way will be worth it if it means keeping her safe. What happens when everything is said and done? Grab a copy and discover all the intriguing details for yourself- you are bound to love it as much as I have.
As I have said several times before, I have loved every word of this fantastic story, and now I can’t wait to see what Ms. Reis has in store for us next!

Thank you, Ms Reis!

Have you ever picked up a book by a favorite author only to realize that your dreams have come true? That happened to me today. I picked up DARK FEATHERS and something felt a little familiar about it. I recognized 2 characters in the first chapter so looked back over this author’s catalog. Yup, in July 2017 I read LAVENDER FIELDS and in my review hoped Joan’s story would be told one day. Well after fast clapping and and doing a happy dance, I went back to reading.

“Oh, be still, my naughty bits.” Joan thinks that of Nix and Phoenix thinks that of chocolate chip cookies. Haha. I honestly think she and I would be friends if she were my neighbor.

I cannot recommend this book enough. I would recommend reading Lavender Fields also. SUCH GOOD AND ORIGINAL STORIES. Humor and angst and burning looks and best friends.

5 stars for Lavender Fields and 5 stars for Dark Feathers equals 10 stars!!!!

Drawing Strength From Words by CA King was a fun read. I would give this book a four out of five stars. This is the second book in the series. I love Gabby! She is a fun character to read just because of how disconnected she is from the current time. She doesn’t let that stop her though, her competitive nature and need to prove herself is so relatable. Drawing Strength From Words (A Four Horsemen Novel Book 2)Drawing Strength From Words by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Drawing Strength From Words is the second novel in the Four Horsemen series by C. A. King. This is my third novel by this author.

Being one of the Horseman is a thankless job for Gabrielle especially when she is portrayed as some sort of brute in history. Begrudgingly she takes a back seat to her brothers, causing her heart to have a shield around it.

Ryder has been moving since his parents were killed, putting through the systems and on the side of the law for crimes he did not do. While he has never felt an attraction to someone before, becomes of the life he leads, that changes when he is thrown in the path of a mysterious beauty.

I wasn’t sure what to make of this novel because it had been a while since I read this series and was a little confused. But the plot pulled me in really quick.

Ryder was an interesting character with a background and history I wasn’t sure how I would be if I was in his shoes. Gabrielle was a strong and fierce woman. I would think she would be considering she has so many brothers. The dynamics and bitterness she had held creating even more of a suspenseful air about her. Wanting to know more about her.

I really enjoyed this story and I am looking forward to the next book. I wonder whose story are we going to read about next.

Lavender Field by Natalina Reis is one of those books that will capture your heart with fantastic characters.
Natalina Reis is an author that I have slowly become familiar with over the past year and is an author that I have grown accustomed to being slightly unpredictable in her work. Every book I read by her is completely different to the last one I read which helps to keep her work refreshing.
I loved the story of this book. Sky and Caleb were such loveable characters. It felt like you went on their journey with the right from the start. The author creates a vivid picture of them so it is easy to picture being there with them.
I thought there was also great story development. The first chapter did everything it needed to in capturing my attention and the resulting pace of the book was perfect. I definitely enjoyed this book and can’t wait to delve more into this authors work.

The writing style that flows from chapter to chapter, it is mentally visual and written with some incredible characters. You are given twists and turns along the way that keep you on the edge of your seat wanting more. It’s full of action and adventure and romance.
