Obsessed: Lila Casey Book 1 (Lila Casey Series)Obsessed: Lila Casey Book 1 by J. Collins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Obsessed (Lila Casey Series Book 1) by J Collins is a great and an enjoyable read. It is a unique vampire story that was fun and made me laugh but there was also a moment of high emotions. J’s take on the vampires was new and original and did a good job in making it a story that holds your attention right to the last page. The romance it a little steamy and I enjoyed the characters and their unique quirkiness.

Lila was a little strange, she had anxieties and was very hyper and her inner dialogue had me laughing out loud and was obsessed with vampires. What happens when faced with the reality of her dreams and she learns there are true monsters?

Adam is hot and sexy and living a life alone that is until one unusual and quirky woman graces his presence and he can’t get her out of his mind. She is nothing like anything he has met in his whole life. How can he help the woman he has come to love and keep her from the hands of evil.

I look forward to more of this series

A Deal With Death (Crescent City Wolf Pack Book 4) by Carrie Pulkinen
4 Stars!!!!

Yet again another book that hooked me and reeled me in . I really find that I enjoy this series and find the author’s writing style to be quite refreshing. I found that the characters just jump right off of the pages. There was also a well balanced world of the supernatural and everyday life. I really enjoyed how the author brought in the world of Voodoo and built the story around it.

I really found Odette to be quite the character. I liked how the author was able to build the story around her past and how all the characters fit into it. I felt that the chemistry between Odette and James really added to the drama that unfolds around them. The author has such a creative style and brings the whole world she is writing about come to life. I could feel the spirits as Odette tried to help them. I really cannot wait to read more from this author and this series.

This is definitely a quick read, full of just plain old vampire fun. If you are a fantasy/vampire lover, you will enjoy this entertaining page turner. I found it to be engaging, frustrating, quick. Some parts were predictable and other parts just left me smiling. I like the tone Collins used in the story development and appreciated the details provided. Overall just a fun read and one I would gladly recommend to vamp lovers everywhere.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hidden Magic: A Sanctuary Chronicles Novella by India Kells is a fast paced short read but just because it is a short story does not mean it is not packed with action and magic and of course romance. This engaging read, holds you spell bound as it evokes so many emotions and feelings. This novella is part of the Sanctuary Chronicles series, which I have enjoyed, but this could be read as stand-alone. It was good to catch up on old friends and I must say I fell in love with the main characters in this story as much as I have the others.

Brant knows it’s forbidden but he just can’t stay away, there is just something about her that calls to him. When he senses trouble, his worst fear is realised.

Kat has been hiding for years but now the evil has found her but it’s too late for her to do anything.
A must read.

4 Stars

This is another amazing shifter romance by Ms. Pulkinen. It is part four in the Crescent City Wolf Pack Series but you can read it as a stand-alone. The story is filled with love, death and voodoo. Odette Allemand is a voodoo practitioner who’s Met Tet is the god of death. Unfortunately she’s been on his bad side for the past few years. She’s stuck in a cycle of rebirth and violent death and vows to never fall in love again. James walks into her life and throws a wrench in her plans. Now she must beg forgiveness from the god of death if she wants to survive this life.

This is a story that will hook you in from the start and not let you go until the end. With mystery, danger and suspense, you will not be able to read fast enough to see what happens. I loved the book and found it to be original and engaging. I hope there will be a part five.

By: Carrie Pulkinen
My Rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Deal with Death (Crescent City Wolf Pack #4) by Carrie Pulkinen was an engaging, original read that had me hooked.

I have been waiting for this book, and I’m all in a good feels place cause the wait is over, but I’m sad at the same time cause I want more books from this series like yesterday.

This series has been by far my favourite of the year, and I can’t get enough of this world that Carrie Pulkiene has created. This book opens with a dark bang, and it sets the stage for the crazy good to come. I love how there’s always a mystery, and how the female MC’s are always kickass and brilliant. Sure they have their hot alpha male werewolf, but they’re no push over, and this book is no different with Odette. I loved her, and I think she’s probably my favourite MC so far. Sure sure, James is great too, but Odette, she was just outstanding, and I have a major girl crush.

Overall this book was quite the read, it was as I said, fresh, original and just one of those wow reads that gets your blood flowing. The detail was on point, the plot solid, and the dark themes helped keep your mind engaged. There was enough romance to break it up, and keep it light while not overpowering the characters.

To end, this book this series is a must read, and it gets my super high recommedantion and my golden stamp of approval.

Happy Reading

Hidden Magic: A Sanctuary Chronicles Novella by India Kells is a short but good read. If you have not read the rest of the series this can be read as a standalone story. Kat and Brant are the main characters and I enjoyed reading about them. The two come from different worlds but can they survive in each other and keep their love intact? I will not give anything away so make sure you read this book. This reads quickly and has paranormal, romance, and a good story. I look forward to reading more in this series soon.

A Deal with Death is the fourth book in Carrie Pulkinen’s Crescent City Wolf Pack series. This book is honestly phenomenal, I’ve read every book of the series and have loved them all.

This story is intense, action-packed, suspenseful and thrilling, I was intrigued from the very beginning and like always with this author’s work I was able to read it in one sitting as I couldn’t bring myself to put it down. I just had to get answers to all my questions and fortunately this author did not disappoint.

Though this book can be read as a standalone I would recommend the whole series, this is one that you won’t want to miss!!!

I give Hidden Magic: A Sanctuary Chronicles Novella by India Kells, 4 stars.

Brant is a werelynx who knows the feeling of being alone. Sure, he has made himself useful at Sanctuary, but he has not found peace yet. That is, until he meets telepath Kat. She is just what he needs, but they are not supposed to be together. When Kat’s past comes back to haunt her, he realizes just how much he feels about her. He will do anything to get her back. But can he get to her in time? If so, can they make a relationship work?

This a great book and I really enjoyed the main characters. Kat and Brant are very interesting and complex characters. Plus some of the characters from previous books make an appearance to make this even better. Not to mention, the supense starts right away and will not let go. I finished this book in one setting, I could not put it down!

If you like paranormal romance with great characters and an interesting storyline, this book is for you.

A Deal with Death (Crescent City Wolf Pack, #4)A Deal with Death by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

While I enjoyed this story it was a little out of my realm. There was a lot of voodoo talk, Ghosts and going back Into the past. This does focus on the relationship between James and Odette. I really liked James in previous books and while he didn’t disappoint he didn’t raise any higher either. Odette is into voodoo and after a childhood accident she doesn’t practice as much as she used to. She has tight control on herself and has become very stodgy. James wants to break that control but something else is in the mix. Can they survive what is coming?

This is my fourth book in the series. Each one is different and it’s Not Necessary to have read them first. Again the story was a little off for me…I did learn a lot about Voodoo practices and guardians but to me it seemed to stray away from the werewolf packs. The characters seems nice and strong but I didn’t love them like I was expecting too. Was I on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen? Yes I was but it didn’t seem enough. Sorry this one just fell short for me.

I’m not sure if this is my favorite of the series because; it is a full bodied novella that I was able to read from beginning to end in a short amount of time – or because we get to see what makes two characters click – or because we get to visit with previous characters. Well it doesn’t matter why, as long as we know it is.

This book moves at a great pace with abbreviated details which I very much appreciated. Even though this is part of a series, I truly believe that it can be read as a stand-alone as long as you know that it is about shape shifters and magic and witches.

I absolutely recommend this story, this series and this author.

Hidden Magic is a novella of the Sanctuary Chronicles series. You can read this without reading the other books, but if you want to get a better feel for the other characters outside of Brant and Kat, I recommend reading the others in the series.

Hidden Magic is a quick read, but it is written in such a way that it feels like a full-length novel. The characters are relatable and the story moves along and a good pace. I liked the way the depth of Brant’s true feelings for Kat just kind of snuck up on him. Unfortunately, it took a tragic event for him to realize just how he felt, but that just made him more determined to make things right.

This is great side story to the series and I enjoyed the read.

Hidden Magic: A Sanctuary Chronicles Novella by India Kells was a fast past, engaging read, that had me hooked.

This quick short read is packed full of action, romance, emotions, growth and of course, magic. It hooked me right away, and I dove right into this little wonder. As this is a side story to the main series, it can be read as a standalone. So don’t worry about spoilers or feeling lost. As someone who follows this series, it brought me new characters to grow and love, and old ones I have missed. It was a good combo and made me remember why I love this series so much.

Overall this story is fresh, original, and rich with clean creative detail, that just gets your mine racing. I loved the romance aspect, as well as the personal growth both MC’s go through. Again though, our male MC, was a little to over protective for me, and it’s something I have picked up on in this series, but in regards to the others, Brant isn’t as bad. Kat is a fun, strong character that you can’t help but fall for. You get swept up in her magic, and as much as you want to help you can’t. There are some good feels kickers in here, so be warned.

On that note, as this is a short read, and not to risk spoilers, I’m going to leave you with my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval.

Hidden Magic by India Kells a five-star read that you won’t want to hide form. This is a novella in the Sanctuary Chronicles series, this could be read as stand-alone but the whole series is worth reading. Be warned you will not want to put this down once you start it, so don’t plan on reading a few pages before bed as you will not be sleeping in half and hour. You get gripped by this story from the first page, the characters will suck you in Kat and Brant will surprise you with how quickly you care for them, how quickly your stomach is dropping and sinking with anxiety when things go wrong. I’m not going to spoil the story, as it’s so worth reading.

Furbidden Attraction: A Cursed Romance (Raven Falls Cursed Romances Book 1) by R. O’Leary is a great start to this paranormal romance series. Miss O’Leary has done a great job of building the suspense, the thrills and the chills and plain old sweet and funny banter. This is my first book I have read by this author and it pulls you in right from the beginning. I read it in one sitting and as the story flowed, the pages were turning over.

Louisa is one stubborn and sassy, fierce and independent lady and I loved her and the easy banter between her and Jack and their chemistry and love for one another was like a light in the dark of the story. This story is action packed with many different types of paranormal beings, shapeshifters and witches, ghouls and more.

You don’t want to miss out on this book.

Hidden Magic: A Sanctuary Chronicles Novella is a wonderfully written paranormal romance that I absolutely loved. There was no putting it down until I finished even then I wanted more. I love the pace of this book. You get immediate tension and the feeling something is wrong from Brant. He feels that deep down in your gut, imminent doom type of wrong and of course it’s somehow involving the love of his life, Kat. She’s just making cookies, not bothering anyone and WHAM- two total creeps show up after the shop has closed (which really made me hate them on a personal level, having worked in retail for a significant period of time). Kat is a telepath who doesn’t need any special gifts to know that these scrubs from her past aren’t just going to say hi and bye. They are more of the mind to shoot Brant in the chest and leave with Kat. Too bad it takes more than that to kill a werelynx.
India Kells is so wonderful with her descriptions and after reading two other books from this series, I was excited to read this novella-but I wish it had been longer.
If you’re new to paranormal romance or India Kells, this would be a decent place to start since it’s only a novella but it’s not the first in the series.

The story A Deal with Death (Crescent City Wolf Pack Book 4) by Carrie Pulkinen is an awesome and amazing book to read. It pulled me in right from the start and didn’t let me go until I had finished the final page. I loved reading about the characters of Odette Allemand and James Malveaux. Odette is a smart, strong, independent, and beautiful woman. The only problem is that every time she meets her soulmate things end horrifically. Then she meets James. James is a werewolf who feels that he is broken. He remembers Odette from back in school. He is finding that his wolf wants to claim her as his mate. There is a deep attraction between these two. There seems to be a connection between them and there are sparks when they are together. Are Odette and James destined to go through an ending that never seems to change? What does their future hold? Read this book to find out. This story creates an atmosphere of suspense that had me turning pages to find out what is going to happen next. I got caught up in the romance and the emotions of the characters. I grew to care about Odette and James with each chapter that I read, and I couldn’t help but want things to work out for them. I enjoyed the bantering and interactions between them. The author has created a story that you won’t want to put down with unforgettable characters that come alive. My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Deal with Death (Crescent City Wolf Pack Book 4) by Carrie Pulkinen is another exciting book in this series. It is a paranormal story that encompasses wolves and voodoo and is set in New Orleans and can definitely be read as a standalone but I know you will enjoy the other books in the series just as much. It was one intriguing and interesting read especially learning more about voodoo and it’s craft and religion. Add in werewolves and demons, death and fear, possession and spirits and you have yourself one addicting story.

Odette has always been a child of death but she has pushed aside her teachings and faith after one awful night when her life changed forever. Now she is in a race against time to stop a cycle what always ends with her death.

James has just found his dream renovation and the girl that held his interest in school. What he finds along the way is his mate but unless he can break the cycle in time he is facing certain death.

FURBIDDEN ATTRACTION is a quick and easy read that I read in one sitting. It has a really nice cadence with a nice give and take between the 2 main characters.

Secondary characters all play a roll in the story and while they are obviously being introduced for future stories, their actions aren’t fillers.

This story has a sense of humor that I was not expecting “There was a strange man in her apartment, possibly a serial killer. A naked serial killer who clearly had a gym membership. ”

I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Hidden Magic by India Kells is a Sanctuary Chronicles novel. This is a short book and a quick read but it is just as good as all her work usually is.
This book is a great paranormal romance book. Although it is short it never at any point felt rushed or like something was missing. The characters were well developed and interesting to read about. I really thought that Brant and Kat had a great chemistry.
The story itself was well paced and well developed. Although it was short the author covered everything to make it a great story. It had depth, it had action, it had romance. I honestly felt like I was reading a full length novel and was disappointed when I got to the end because I could have easily kept on reading.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Normally I am not one to pick up a book with other worldly people written into the scenario, I tend to have a difficult time with sci-fi books keeping my interest, however with any India Kells novel I will devour it without question. Hidden Magic wasn’t any different for me. I absolutely adore how India makes one feel as if this normally outlandish idea of were/shifters co-mingling among us is completely plausible and fascinating. Every single one of the Sanctuary Chronicles has been wonderful and this little gem is the perfect novella addition. I don’t believe you have to read the others persay to enjoy this one as well, which is nice for those that enjoy standalones. I do highly recommend you read all the available ones however if you enjoy Hidden Magic.

In Hidden Magic we get the tale of Kat and Brant and holy hades this is a fabulous little romance that buds between these pages. I love the detail of not only the scenes in which these characters interact, but also of them as well. I felt as if I finished this novel fully knowing Kat and Brant as realistic beings I know, just like a friend. I absolutely can’t wait to see what else will come from the brilliant India Kells!

Vermilion Lies (The Order of the Senary, #3)Vermilion Lies by L.D. Rose
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I give Vermilion Lies (The Order of the Senary Book 3) by L.D. Rose, 4 stars.

Dax lives to hunt and kills vampires. They prey on victims and have no feelings whatsoever. He is ruthless and efficient. Until he comes across Cindy. She is not ruthless at all, in fact she seems to be a victim. He didn’t think vampires could be like this. Now he seems to feel for her in ways he never should.

Vampire Cindel (Cindy) has been on the run for so long now. She thought her maker was the worst, but she has found out nothing is free. In the world of users of all kind, she gives what she has to to survive. When a ruthless killer shows up, she knows her life is over. But for some reason, he lets her live. As ruthless as he is, she is strangely highly attracted to him. Is a relationship even possible? When her past comes back to haunt her, she knows she has to make this work, but is it too late?

This is an enjoyable book and a great addition to the series. I really like both main characters and enjoyed learning more about them. The secondary characters also help to make this book so good. Some of your favorites are back, along with new ones you love to hate. But this isn’t just a story about the main couple. There is action in this book also, making it a well-rounded story and that much more enjoyable.

If you like paranormal romance with great characters and suspense thrown in, this book and series is for you. Oh and it can be read as a standalone but I recommend the whole series.

Furbidden Attraction: A Cursed Romance is book one in the Raven Falls Cursed Romances by R. O’Leary. This is my first dabble with this authors work, and I was excited to get into it.

It has been a long time since I read a good shapeshifter story, and from the blurb, I had a feeling it was going to be a good one.
Jack and Louisa were a dynamic pair that sizzled, amused and tantalised me. An exciting story that was not lacking in all the good juicy bits. It was light and airy, it was dark and glorious. The story was energetic, adventurous and full of drama. Engaging with the characters was effortless, and the story glided along effortlessly. 4 stars.

Dax is trained to overcome any challenge or obstacle to destroy them. Until he meets Cindy.

Cindy is an escaped wife of one of the sires. She is trying to make her way in the world without the abuse she suffered at the hands of her sire.

So starts a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs, love and hate, danger and chaos as they try to save each other.

Vermilion Lies (The Order of the Senary Series Book 3) by L.D. Rose – Review by Maura Harper

Vermilion Lies (The Order of the Senary, #3)Vermilion Lies by L.D. Rose
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“When the world is going to hell in a hand basket, you might as well make it a party on the way down.”

This series gets better with each new installment.

The writing is visual and detailed. It is a well plotted story with great character development. The story moves at a really good pace and kept me invested from beginning to end.

Things are not always as they appear in this series and it is interesting to see how things are being worked out. VERMILION LIES has sexy times, drama, action and adventure.

I totally recommend this series and this book.
