The Clockwork Solution (The Clockwork Chronicles Book 2)The Clockwork Solution by Michelle D. Sonnier
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Following on from the first book in the series we pick back up the story of Arabella. When I started reading this book I wasn’t sure which direction it would go in, given how unexpected I found the first book to be. I thought this book was a great follow on. I still struggled to connect with the main character, and I did feel like I enjoyed the first book a bit more, but I found myself connecting with the storyline just like with the first. I think part of what intrigues me with this series is that fact that I can’t decide what genre it would fall under. There is a little mix of everything thrown in there. This as a good book and I will be reading the next one.

I initially started reading this book as I was intrigued by the plot of magic mixed with science. It felt a little different to a lot of books within this genre that I have read lately. The Book wasn’t at all what I expected. It had a much darker feel than I thought I would so, although that just added to the intrigue of the book. Surprisingly I didn’t really click with the main character however there were enough other things going on in the book that instill found it enjoyable. I thought this was a good start to a new series and it left me wondering what was to come in Book 2.

In all honest I wanted to love this book. The premises is brilliant and I was looking forward reading it. I unfortunately couldn’t find connect with the characters and they had little substance to them. I will say the authors descrptive style was canny but would be better with a bit more embraliahment.

I love all things having to do with witches and magical beings so I was absolutely excited to give this book a try. This book lived up to all expectations having read it in two days or mostly nights. I do not recommend reading this late because you will definitely get sucked in and may find yourself losing sleep over having to find out what happens next.

We start out meeting Arabella the seventh daughter of a seventh witch who has seemed to do nothing except embarrassing her extremely gifted witching bloodline. Called a brown bud for lack of revealing any magical talent or affinity whatsoever it seems the heard prophecy may not be about Arabella at all. This all changes when for the first time Arabella is around working machinery and she sees the glow which is the tell tale sign of magical ability. As she now must prove to her family what she can do with her technomancy power and now her future seems more uncertain than before. Will the council acknowledge this new magical power or will it result in Arabella’s death if she cannot manifest other normal abilities?

This book is a force to be reckoned with and unfortunately my good nights sleep was the loser. From the world Ms. Sonnier builds to the characters she describes and their interactions are phenomenal. This is an amazing book written by an amazing author and I for one can not wait to read the second book in this series!

The Clockwork Solution (The Clockwork Chronicles Book 2) by Michelle D. Sonnier. This is a fun young adult story with sci-fi, steampunk, fantasy and magic with witches. This can be read as a standalone but would be better enjoyed as a series.

The Clockwork Solution is the second instalment in The Clockwork Chronicles series by Michelle D. Sonnier. After reading the first instalment in this fun series, I was intrigued by what this story would hold.
It is another young adult story- a sci-fi/steampunk/gaslight fantasy with magic, witches, danger, technomancy, drama, and more.
We re-join Arabella in this story as she sets off on her first assignment- to uncover what’s causing the famine in Ireland. There is a lot riding on the outcome of her investigation, and Arabella feels the weight of responsibility on her shoulders. Two witches have already lost their lives in this quest- so now Arabella’s life is also on the line. What happens makes for a fun read.
This ends with a cliffhanger, eeep- so will have to wait for the next book to see what happens next.
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Michelle D. Sonnier!

The Clockwork Witch is the first instalment in The Clockwork Chronicles series by Michelle D. Sonnier. This is my first read from this author, so I was intrigued by what the story would be like. It turned out to be a fun read- a young adult story with sci-fi elements, all wrapped up in steampunk/gaslight fantasy. This was such an original and creative story with magic, witches, wonderful world building, prophecy, threats, danger, and some illustrations sprinkled through to highlight the story.
Arabella is a great character, a witch with technomancy magic- which makes her a bit of an outcast in the witching world. But with her ability to manipulate all things mechanical, a prophecy, and a little danger, things are about to get interesting.
A great start to this imaginative series… looking forward to seeing what comes next.
Happy Reading!

This is the second book in the series. I am not sure what genre this falls under, paranormal or fantasy or steampunk. But I have decided it fits best under Gaslamp Fantasy. It does ends rather suddenly with cliff-hangers. The concept is interesting with a lot of potential. There are witches and magic, mysteries and trials and tribulations, danger. It is fast paced with an intriguing plot.
Arabella is tasked by the witch’s council to investigate rumours of a famine in Ireland. Will she uncover the truth, or will she face roadblocks by those who hates witches?

I really had a lot of enjoyment reading this novel. I had not read the previous one, but I certainly will be now. I rally loved how the story came together with the characters. It was fun, and full of surprises, and it certainly kept me on my toes. It was very delightful to read from start to finish.

For me I loved the character’s and their personalities. i loved how different they were and could be. There was no awkward meshing, everything blended together perfectly. They made the story intriguing and full of wonder. I enjoyed all of the character development seen as well.

I enjoyed the adventure of the plot as well. it was different, and seriously I wanted to join the Sisterhood of Witches myself haha. Arabella was a strong character who had her own character development had really added to the events of the plot. I loved how her decisions made such a impact. Great read!

loved this book truly, and this was a first time author for me as well. Defiantly will be reading more of their work I recommend this author book, as well as this series. Not ones to be missed!

This is the second book in this series which is just as great as the first one. This is a well written story by an author that has great writing skills and their use of attention to details made the story realistic. I enjoyed being pulled into the story by the characters who made the story easy to read. This is a fast paced scientific fantasy story that was not only hard to put down but also kept me turning pages fast just to see what would happen next. I really enjoyed what the characters brought to the story and their growth throughout. The growth of the plot also made the story great. This is a great story that I highly recommend picking up today.

The author really has you on the edge of your seat as you read this final book in the Thunder one the Moor series! The author is very descriptive down to the language used to portray these wonderful characters, and you sit in suspense as you wait impatiently for the next twist and turn! I was so excited to get to book 3, AND it did NOT disappoint! You will fall in love with and be incredibly irritated by some characters, wonder, wait, what just happened, and then reach the end better off than when you started. This is a great book and I am looking forward to other series from this intelligent author!

I will say this, the lives of Maggie and her suitor Will continue to be challenged in book 2 of this series. I was in awe of the pure love shown by Maggie as she saved her love from certain death! Being from the 20th century helped her a lot in this case, and she’s lucky no one knows of this. With all of the turmoil that is Will’s accused crimes of being with her, Will still charges on fighting tooth and nail every step of the way to secure his love for Maggie. This second book in the series will definitely keep you entertained with the antics of her new family, along with those of her own. I’m one again excited to see the next book in the series and how the saga ends for these two in love. Now on to book three!

Lovers Maggie Armstrong and Will Foster have fought border reivers, their own families, and even the dreaded gallows to protect their forbidden love.It seems as though they may finally have there happily ever after until they stumble upon Johnnie Hetherington’s body found brutally murdered close to their home a week before they are to be wed. Will and the rest of his family are ruled out and the wedding proceeds. Only then do the Armstrong’s attack in force determined to bring Maggie back to them whatever the consequences. Fearing for Maggie’s life, Will implores Dylan to get her to safety. Even if it means taking her 450 years into the future back to her own time, while leaving his own love Annie in the process. With a degrading amulet and two broken hearts will either of them ever see their true love again?
This series just keeps getting better, Andrea Matthews has done it again! I really loved the mystery aspect included in this installment. I think it was really cool seeing almost a side by side comparison of the sixteenth and twentieth centuries. It makes you realize how different things were back then and makes you wonder what lengths you would go for your own love. There were so many moments in this book that had me excitedly gasping and nervously biting my nails! The characters are so well written I could feel each one of their emotions like they were my own. I feel the NEED for Maggie and Will to have a happy end! I also felt there was a message of non toxic relationships and getting through traumas with love and support from those you choose to love. Another wonderful read!!! Definitely recommend!

Running for their lives Maggie Armstrong finally admits the love she has for Englishman Will Foster. He completes the void in her heart. After already saving Will’s life from her family’s brutality, she feels all hope is lost when Will is charged with treason for trysting with a scot. After news of their wedding plan is leaked to the warden, Maggie is forced back to Scotland to her uncle who continues wedding arrangements, the wicked Ian Rutherford the man that murdered her father, all while Will answers to the gallows for his crimes. Will Maggie be able to thwart her family’s plans or will her heart die along with Will?
This book was the perfect continuation to the series, it had a really nice flow.you could really feel the emotions between the characters. It really tugs at the heartstrings. I didn’t think this book series could get any better but I was so anxious throughout the whole book!! I needed to know Will and Maggie’s fate. I also really love the relationship that Dylan shares with Maggie. It makes me think that family is not always people who are related by blood but by people you choose. Definitely a satisfying read that gives all the feels and much more!!!!

Maggie Armstrong grew up listening to her father Robert tell her wondrous tales of sixteenth century Scotland, of blood feuds and border raids. She memorized all the portraits from his collection dreaming about what that life would be like. Never would she have believed that her father was one of these infamous border reivers, not even when he told her his plan to go back to his old Scottish home with her by his side. Thinking that it’s just another archaeological dig, with flourish, she agrees to accompany him until she ends up four hundred and fifty years in the past. Now she is living through the old stories first hand, meeting family she only dreamed of, even seeing Will Foster, the man in one of the portraits she’s always been drawn to. Intrigue, treachery, and revenge abound when a quick betrothal, without her consent, causes Maggie to question everything. Will she even be able to get home?
I love reading books about this time period and I absolutely adore the accents!!! I could definitely feel the love and protectiveness that Robert has for his daughter and that Edward has towards both of them. I couldn’t help but put myself in Maggie’s place and think of what a culture shock it would be to end up 450 years in the past. Or what it would be like to meet your family from back then. I love the thought of meeting my ancestors in real life. It was interesting and unexpected! Funny and well paced, I could not put it down! I can’t wait to read the next book!!!!

Shake Loose the Border (Thunder on the Moor Book 3) by Andrea Matthews – Review by Erin Wolf

Shake Loose the Border (Thunder On The Moor Book 3)Shake Loose the Border by Andrea Matthews
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the third book in the series of time traveling, romance, and the love and heartache that makes up a family. Reading the first two books is highly recommended before reading this one.

The story picks up in the past and the author weaves such a fantastic, realistic view, I feel like I am right there. The most important things of that era are highlighted here — the love and steadfast dedication of family, the wickedness that can turn some men to do evil things, and the struggle they had just to survive. All of your emotions are brought out within the pages of this book.

Then we are brought back to modern day. You don’t think you can take much more of the roller-coaster, but the ride is not yet over. So much more happens to make you feel both love and make you want to weep. The story and characters are riveting, I felt so much for so many of them.

If you are a fan of time travel with romance, adventure, and action, this series is for you.

This is my first read from this author and It took me for an absolute ride. The amount of emotion and heartache throughout this story shattered me at some points. Sadly I am starting from book 3, and so I plan to read book 1 and 2 to get a full grasp on the story as aw whole.

This historical tale captures the blood feud between the Clans of Britain and Scotland. We are provided a vivid account of the love and loss for everyone the feud touched. We are taken on this thrilling journey experiencing time travel, murder, drama, and the depths one will endure for love. Maggie and Will were such strong characters and their love knew no bounds regardless of what time period they were in. The characters as a whole I felt connected to, and every twist just entangled me more within their stories.

This is the third book in a series. The books definitely build on each other, so it is best to read them in order. Also, there are a lot of characters, so it is easy to get lost if you haven’t gotten to know them all along. The series is a time travel romance. Maggie’s father, Robbie, has been killed. Her wedding to Will is coming up if they can fight through her relatives and someone killing Johnnie Hetherington. It was a wonderful story and hard to put down. Cannot wait to read the next (and last, I think) in the series!

This is the third novel in this series. These are NOT stand alone books. If you try to read two or three without having read the previous books you will not have all the information you need to move forward. This story keeps getting more wild, dramatic and crazy as it goes on. There is so much action and suspense sometimes it is hard to know where to focus your attention. That said I am enamored with the characters enough that I can’t wait to find out what happens to them. This storyline has become an absolute obsession for me. As always the author added all those well researched historical facts and details that just make these stories pop… and makes her one of my my favorite authors. Another added bonus is the maps, family trees, and glossaries of obscure words. Now comes the hard part … waiting for book 4!!

I had high hopes for this second installment in this series and I was not disappointed. Once again this author does her research well. All those historically accurate details really are a huge draw for me. One thing I would note is sometimes there is so much going on it is hard to follow and you wish everything would slow down and have all those little details that really flush a book out. I love the descriptions of Scotland and really feel like I can see the image in the way it is described. The characters are lovable and have well developed back stories. Am reading book three today! Book 3 in the Shadow Chronicles series and by far my FAVORITE! 🖤 I adore paranormal romance reads, especially shifter reads. This series spiced the shifter world up for sure. I followed Tasha and Levi’s story from the beginning to the end and LOVED every minute spent reading it!! Sad to see their story end but it ended beautifully. You just have got to read from book one. Or well I highly recommend it anyways, if you haven’t. I loved their story so much I couldn’t imagine NOT reading every part of their journey. I love when an author makes me completely forget the real world around me. That’s exactly what this author gave me, from start to finish I was so drawn in I couldn’t stop until the very last page. The characters are complex and relatable they draw you into their world and had me hanging on every word. This story has action, drama and romance that keeps you on your toes the entire ride. The characters bring the story to life and I loved every minute I got with them. The storyline is well written and original. It’s paced well and all together a fantastic story. Five huge stars and highly recommended! Can’t wait for more!
