Ember loves her café and wants to see her sisters again. She has a lot of responsibility as the last of her kind though, so you never know what’s ahead of you. Austin is a celeb food taster who travels around. He’s getting bored with the ones he’s trying now till he hears about a certain café. From then, mystery and more blooms. It’s a great start to the series and can’t wait to read what’s next.

Honestly, I looked at this book a few times before I decided to commit. It is right up my alley, what with the main character being far from normal, though the synopsis certainly didn’t do it justice. This author weaves a story full of colourful notes, flavors, personalities, life goals and dreams.
Austin and Ember are two halves made whole from the moment they laid eyes on each other. It’s a tale as old as time, the zing that made the air sizzle. I loved the way the reader feels so connected to Ember, anticipating thoughts and hardships, and rooting for her along the way. Austin has this winning personality and just wants to help, and won’t take no for an answer. Truly, I loved the way their story blooms, and the way Austin, Ray, and Joel are there, becoming more like her family, every step of the way! I felt like I was in Kai watching this story unfold, and I cannot wait to continue on this beautiful adventure with the next installment. Read it, you won’t be disappointed!
This book was so much more than I expected! I love how relatable the story is even with it being paranormal fantasy. Ember is rightfully cautious with people to protect herself and her family. Austin is completely smitten with her which is completely understandable. This story is not all rainbows and butterflies which makes me love it even more. I am so excited for book 2!
Ember is an amazing chef and a swan Shifter. She wants her sisters to come home. Austin is a tv personality with a broken down RV who stumbles across her restaurant Kai. He wants to bring her into the limelight. Will her sisters see? Her food is amazing and she is beautiful! Austin quickly falls for beautiful Ember as she falls for him just the same. They are so crazy for each other. Super steamy! A really good read.

This novel is so amazing that it simply leaves you wanting more. It was such an amazing story and written so beautifully that I simply can’t wait to read the other installments. Full of mystery, secrets, intrigue, and more I just simply couldn’t put this book and it’s wonderful characters down and I finished it in a matter of a few hours. Both of our characters come from backgrounds of heartache, and the struggle is very real, but will Ember and Austin be able to overcome everything to make it work? This is my first time reading this author but I can promise that it won’t be my last. This story and the authors writing took me on such an increible ride that not only can I not wait for the next installment but this just became my book of the year.
An amazing writer! Although this is a fiction novel, it feels realistic. The author does a great job of making the fantasy part relatable and entertaining as well as the normal human part of things. Read this book if you want to be entertained, if you love being on the edge of your seat, and you love underdog stories.
Family secrets, traditions and duty clash with the “regular world” when Austin a TV personality meets Ember a small town girl (so she seems) with a talent for cooking but no one to appreciate it.
Ember however is so much more than she seems….and Austin… somehow can feel this
there is so much angst in Embers story trying to decide what’s best for her and her family and her secrets… not only that you think you know her secrets but oh boy SUPRISE! THERE’S MORE
This was a wonderful Paranormal Romance and well built I look forward to the next one!
Ember Ngata is a young female shifter from New Zealand of Maori descent, she is in fact the direct descendent from their god Tane, an individual who was part god and part bird and Ember is also part bird, a Whakamanu, one of the only remnants of her tribe who were decimated and have been in Wyoming, hiding ever since. Embers passion is food, it connects her to things she has lost and so she has the dream of making the restaurant she owns and works in a success, but the more people who pass through and never return, the more lonely she feels, especially since her sisters had to leave, she misses them and just wants them home again.
Austin Garten is a television celebrity, he is best known and currently working as the host on the TV show Back Road Eats and has been travelling in an old RV with the rest of his crew sampling the cuisine of the US. However, there is only so much barbecue, pizza and pasta that he can take and he has become slowly more and more bored by the cuisine of Breadbasket America, so when their RV breaks down in Wyoming, they have to take an enforced break and it couldn’t be more welcome.
When Austin receives a recommendation for a Maori restaurant in the area called Kai, he is more then ready for a change of pace and so the crew go there the next day to see what this new kind of cuisine has to offer, however, when he encounters the hostess, he finds more than he bargained for. As soon as Ember sees some new faces who are not her regular clientele, she is happy and when she finds someone attractive as well as someone who enjoys his food, Ember finds a new sense of happiness, albeit tempered by worry and fear at the same time.
As the days pass and Ember and Austin spend more time together, the heat between them increases, but as the Maori New Year and the Solstice approaches, Ember struggles to hide her true nature from Austin, but what would happen if she finally let someone in on her secret, would it end in acceptance or disaster? This is a story of choices and consequences, risk and reward, as well as a sprinkling of magic where nothing is certain and is going all in a risk worth taking?
Piper and Noah are magical together. This is such a beautiful, action action packed romance. The first meeting between Piper and Noah is magical and also hilarious at the same time. Sparks fly but it takes some work for both of them to accept the truth even thought the chemistry is undeniable. The author does such an amazing job of describing when they shift that I can see it all unfolding in front of me. This is more than a book, it’s a journey that you take along with the amazing characters in this story, The legends and shamanism sprinkled throughout add to the beauty of it all. I really enjoyed the bits and pieces I learned about their friends along the way and now I can’t wait to read their stories and learn more about them.

This is a fast paced and exciting book, pulling you in from the moment you start reading. I would suggest reading this series in order for a full enjoyment although this book is a great read in its own right. I really enjoyed Delta and Jacksons story. They were easy to connect with as characters and really made the book even better. The story is definitely fast paced. I found myself flying through the book, then wishing I hadn’t so it would last a bit longer. This is a great addition to an already strong series and I am looking forward to book 4.

This is the first book in the Solstice Quartet series and it was a great read. I loved the way the author builds the story and the characters themselves. The characters are what makes the story really come alive for me. It was a really nice surprise that it was a romance story but full of twists and turns so you never know what’s going to happen. It was refreshing to read a romance story which leaves you guessing the outcome. I also love the connections the author makes between the myths that surround the Whakamanu tribe.
Austin works on TV. His job is travel the world looking for amazing places to eat. And it’s a twist of fate that he ends up broken down in Wyoming. While he is stranded there he trys a restaurant town which is owned by Ember. Surprised by how amazing the food is and intrigued by the owner Austin wants to make a show including her restaurant. However Ember isn’t so keen.
You see Ember has secrets. Secrets that need to stay hidden and could cause danger to herself and her family if they were to come to light.
As much as Ember wants to make her restaurant popular she also doesn’t want to risk harming the people she cares about. As things start to grow between Ember and Austin, he knows she has secrets but will he stay if he finds out what they are or will it be enough to break the budding romance apart? I can’t wait to see how the story and their relationship will develop.
5 Stars Piasa (Legends Series Book 3) by Maggie Adams
Piasa is the third book in the Legends Series and is a wonderfully written Paranormal/Romance/ Shifter story that once I started reading I didn’t put it down till I finished. This author is still fairly new to me even though I have read other books by her this one is by far my favorite yet. Although this can be read as a standalone I highly recommend reading the first two books if you haven’t already started them. They are just as good as this one and I’m a sucker for reading series in order. This story is packed with, shifters, magic mystery a little drama and so much more. Get ready to be taken on quite the adventure with Delta and Jackson. He’s returned home to die but things change when he meets Delta , she’s a shaman and owns her own shop. She getting ready to go on an adventure of a life. Do you believe in Soulmate’s? Do you believe that there’s a perfect mate for everyone? Do you believe in Destiny? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait to read the next one.

This is a truly original romance book. It begins with the legend of the Piasa bird and works into the romance of Delta and Jackson. I was intrigued at how well the two stories intertwined and meshed into one. I loved how her powers overcame fear and she totally became a badass for love. It was amazing to see all the community characters play a part in the romance. A well-written and well-developed story with fascinating characters that will make you smile. A quick read for that weekend you just want to relax. Check out the Piasa. I recommend it. It’s a treat you can’t afford to miss. A new author to me and I’m going to be looking for more.

Reading Noah and Piper’s story was great! I read these stories backwards by mistake. However, I was still captivated by the love story. Don’t they just go together ?? I feel like the romance is always ramped up when you have such opposites. This series was a paranormal series but still very different. I felt like I was visiting another world. Danger and intrigue as something is going on under the surface. Loving this series!!

This is my first book in this series, although it is number three in the series. I will def be reading the rest of the series. I had a hard time putting this book down. I was on the edge of my seat. I thought the author’s attention to detail was amazing. Without spoiling it for anybody, one creature in the book was so vivid in my imagination bc of those details. Jax was a character you liked immediately. Delta was a lovable character but her destiny made you wonder at first. I was so happy to hang out in another world for a little while!

These novels are so fun to read but I would highly recommend that you start with the first in the series and work your way to this one if you have not done so already. The books all work together and build upon one another in such a wonderful way. I absolutely loved this novel. I feel like I often find myself saying so with this author but this book has to be one of my favorites and really just captivates me from the very first page until that last chapter I savored. I loved the characters and the folklore that is deeply woven throughout as well as the wonderful paranormal details. I can’t say enough good things, run and scoop this gem up for yourself and see what the magic is all all about!

This is a great paranormal romance by an author who was completely new to me. I don’t read a lot of paranormal romance but when I do I always enjoy it, so I really need to add more of it to my reading list. Judging by how much I enjoyed this book, I’d definitely read more of this author’s work. Ember Ngata is a fantastic character that I loved reading about. She just wants her restaurant to do well and to have hr family back together. Just one thing – she has a rather huge secret. She experiences so much angst in this book. Should she do what’s right for her restaurant or should she worry more about the safety of her family? This is a decision that isn’t made any easier by the presence of Austin Garten, host of a food TV show who wants to promote her restaurant as her cooking is out of this world. I loved the dynamic between Austin and Ember, how they worked so well together and the growing attraction between them that Ember tried so hard to fight as there is no way she could risk Austin finding out her secret. I really enjoyed reading this book and would definitely recommend it to others.

I have read many books by this author and I was once again drawn into the book and lost within the world she has created. I found the characters to be likable and well written. I really like her story and the world she has created with shifters and other supernatural creatures. I love how there is an element of forbidden love.
My most favorite shifter is a dragon so I was in seventh heaven with this book. I like the whole lore that the author creates and how the story progresses. I just could not put this book down. I cannot wait to read more from this author in future.

Kapow! I fell in love with this book. You are reading along with the story of Ember and Austin. Boy falls in love and the story develops. You are thinking you know Ember’s secret but BAM, mic drop. Plot twist!!! Ember has a bigger secret. This has just moved up the list of my favorite book of the year. I will be looking forward to book 2 in the series because I have to know what happens next in the search for the sisters. Back to Austin and Ember. Descriptions of Ember are absolutely gorgeous and unique. You have to read the book to find out what I’m talking about. The author has such a beautiful way of writing it. Austin and Ember are both coming from childhoods of heartbreak. Can they get past this to make it work? They can but they are going to need to do some work to get through it. There is some steam scattered throughout. I do love some spice with my romance. It fits perfect in here. The characters are totally relatable. The struggles are real. This is truly a wonderful book. I will be eagerly awaiting more from this author and from the series. Get out there and grab this book. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could.
Food, love, and culture all entwined in one! This author has spoken to my heart and I can’t wait for what’s more to come! Austin and Ember were perfect together and their journey to a HEA was beautiful. This fantasy weaves together a love of family, adventure, and getting out of your shell! The romantic paranormal twist made me love the story even more.

This was a different and unique read that had my mouth watering most of the book! I wanted to try lots of new dishes by the time I was done with the novel which was something that was a fun new twist for me as well as Maori food is totally different for me and well now a new fav with a few things. We also discovered a local restaurant that will be getting new loyal customers so I have to say this book sparked some lovely new joys in my life! That aside the story was fab as well! I loved how this was lighthearted and fun to read and also full of paranormal and fantasy bits that had me on the edge of my seat trying to guess what would come next. I was constantly intrigued. I can’t wait to see what the next novel in the series will bring us!
A fabulous four-star read. This was my first read by this author, but I hope its not the last, as there were some real great storylines in this story, it needed a little more putting together for me, but honestly, I was excited by what I was reading. The descriptions were so detailed that you cold see what was being described in your mind, especially the food. But food isn’t the only shining light in this story, I am excited to hear more from the author as this shows great promise, with some extra putting together it could easily have been five-stars.

5 Stars Ember’s Secret (Solstice Quartet Book 1) by Catherine Peace
Ember’s Secrets is the first book in the Solstice Quartet Series . This is a Paranormal/Fantasy/ Shifter story that once you start reading you won’t want to put it down until you’ve finished. This is a fairly new author to me and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what other books she has. Her style of writing and attention to detail is honestly not what I expected but it far better. I loved the characters. This is a story about Ember ,she wants two things in life to be reunited with her sisters and to see people return to her café. She’s also one of the last Whakamanu a descendant of Maori bird-god tane and holds the secrets of the tribe. Austin is the host of the a popular show called Back Road Eats but he needs more than the boring safe foods his network wants him to do. What will happen when his RV breaks down and he comes across Kai a Maori style restaurant? These two have great chemistry but will he still accept her after he learns about her secret? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to read more from this Author .

This is such a captivating romance. This book blew me away! I was immediately drawn into this captivating magical world from the very first page. It gives off some serious Supernaturals vibes which is definitely a good thing if you’re as much a fan of that series as I am. Delta is the lifeline that Jax has give up on ever finding and the connection between the two of them is absolutely breathtaking! They find a special once in a lifetime love in the middle of chaos, and danger and realize that they are so much stronger together. It was heartrending to find out how many thousands of years Jax had been alone and so very lonely with no end in sight. His animal is so breathtakingly beautiful and pure that it made me so happy to see the connection between him and Delta grow and deepen. The ending was absolutely perfect and this is a very special book that you won’t want to miss.

Ember’s Secret is the first book in the Solstice Quartet by Catherine Peace. This is a very original fantasy story with paranormal elements, shifters, magic, family, food, secrets, danger, superb world building, and interesting quirky characters. This wonderful story is woven with, and around, Maori myths and legends. The fact that the story incorporates Maori myths, culture, and cooking really made this story stand out from the crowd and gave it an extra element of interest. I had not read any of the authors work before, so I really didn’t know what to expect- but I love a good fantasy and this one promised to be a little different, what I discovered has certainly piqued my interest and I am really looking forward to reading the rest of the series. Happy reading!

Paranormal Shifter books are some of my favorite. Never have I come across a swan shifter but love the idea. This story has everything you could ever want in a paranormal romance. Love, angst, beauty, evil and of course good triumphs. One note I do have is … I need these recipes! Seriously hire a chef to come up with the recipes for this food! I absolutely loved Ember’s story and cannot wait for the next one to come around. The details of both the story and the characters are vast and in-depth! I absolutely enjoyed the introduction to Māori society.
Piasa is the third in this series of shifter paranormal romances and it is a great read! My only criticism is that her books read very quickly. They tend to be very fast-paced, which is exciting but they end too quickly! I love how she focuses on different species each book although all within the same community. Another great soulmate story on the books!

Once they get together Austin is convinced she could do or say anything and it wouldn’t change the way he feels. Will Austin stay once he find out Embers secret? Read Ember’s secret to find out!
