Blue Summer Part One by Everly Taylor – Review by Pippa Woods

Blue Summer Part OneBlue Summer Part One by Everly Taylor
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

3 out of 5 stars!

Blue Summer Part One is a flirty re-telling of a childhood favorite cartoon that comes to life. I won’t spoil the fun, but it’s full of sexy blue men who don’t have any females of their kind! Taylor drops you into a beautifully steamy blue world where you have to suspend belief and just go with it. Her characters are developed, for such a quick read, and her world is bright and vivid. I kinda wish this had been extended into a longer story so that it encompassed a longer period than 48 hrs., so that it was more believable, but as it reads it’s still a fun little quickie! (pun totally intended!) This does end on a cliffhanger, but it truly just makes you need to one-click Blue Summer Part 2!

As expected, this book did not disappoint. I thoroughly enjoyed the first book of the series, Peaceful Slumber, and this one was even better! I am thrilled to see returning characters and really liked the new characters and the web that entwined them. There were several twists and turns that I did not anticipate and it made for a great read – very hard to put down!

No Rest for the Wicked (Life Is Hell Book 1) by Naomi Valkyrie – Review by Jennifer Gordon

No Rest for the Wicked (Life is Hell #1)No Rest for the Wicked by Naomi Valkyrie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I thoroughly enjoyed this paranormal romance which is the first book in an exciting new series by Valkyrie. Delilah Hawthorne is a vengeance demon who is tired of killing and vengeance and just wants a vacation. Arriving in the small and peaceful looking town of Juniper Lake she rents a cabin and prepares for a restful vacation but unfortunately fate has other ideas. Delilah not only has a nosy sheriff to deal with but also three conniving witches who are set on murder, so it’s just as well that the Sheriff is rather sexy. Delilah soon realises that here really is no rest for the wicked! This fun and action packed story had me gripped from start to finish. The authors wonderful world building and descriptive narrative really bought both the characters and the setting to life and made me feel immersed in the story. The characters all add a different element to the story and I especially loved the main character, Delilah and her witty comments. I found this an entertaining and engaging read and look forward to the rest of the ‘Life is Hell’ series.

This book was not what I expected. It was so much better! I really enjoyed the fast pace of the story and the intriguing characters. There is so much going on and so so many secrets. I enjoyed it all!

Delilah is not what I expected. I was expecting a sex addict, cruel demon. But surprisingly she is nice and just tired and wants a break from life. She has all kinds of cool powers and abilities. The other characters in here are all full of surprises.

Again I am thrilled at how enjoyable this story is. The smooth writing and the fast pace was wonderful. I can see why this has a lot of five star reviews. I look forward to the next one

This book had me laughing and feeling bad for the characters. Delilah is someone you should not mess with. She will always get her way in the end. For a demon she was very human. I loved that I could relate to her and everything she does is on her terms. She knows she’s a demon but tries to do some good in her situation. I wish I got more background to Caspian. These the only characters that was just there. Yes he tried to help his friend but I had more questions than answered. I can’t wait to read more!

Murder at Honeybee Lake (Shadow of a Doubt, #2)Murder at Honeybee Lake by Jessica Aiken-Hall
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is a paranormal crime novel with lots of plot twists and suspenseful moments. It kept me guessing until the very end. This book could be a bit triggering, although I think the subject matter was handled sensitively. I felt like the characters were less developed than I hoped for and there were a lot of characters to keep track of. it got a little repetitive at times but overall it was an interesting read.

This book left me hanging, and I will be looking for the second part to come out. I am really getting an “ adult Smurf” vibe from this book, if anyone is old enough to remember them! Lillie runs into a bit of trouble and is helped by two men from a tribe of blue people. Later, she is kidnapped by a madman and is again saved by the two blue men, and some of their clan members. How can she help them against the mad scientist trying to destroy them? A quick, entertaining read.

An Unexpected BondingAn Unexpected Bonding by Lilly Rayman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

An Unexpected Bonding by Lilly Rayman is the first book in The Unexpected Trilogy. This book is a great mix of vampire, werewolves and other mythology that is all woven together intricately to create an interest and original story. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I really enjoyed the way the story was put together. The mix of different fantasy strands worked really well and provided a great balance to the overall story.
I enjoyed reading about the main characters as well. I thought they combination of their personalities was done with ease and I could really feel the connection they had between them. I easily got behind their story and wanted to see what was going to happen. I thoroughly enjoyed this book from the moment I started reading and I am looking forward to the next in the series.

Cursed Whispers (Broderick Coven Series Book 3) by AJ Renee – Review by Lianne Probert

Cursed Whispers (Broderick Coven, #3)Cursed Whispers by A.J. Renee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Cursed Whispers is the third book in the Broderick Coven series by A. J. Renee.
If you are yet to read the previous books in this series it is not essential before reading this one.

Max lives, breathes, and works with animals. He doesn’t just heal them, but he can actually talk to them…think Dr. Dolittle, but with more paranormal and magical vibes.
Claudia is a werewolf and is on the run from her past. She is rescued by Max when he finds her hurt and in distress. She needs more than just medical help, she needs to face her past and save her daughter.

I loved this story. I sometimes find it difficult to get hooked from the start with werewolf-type stories, but this one was great. It is action-packed, the characters are full of energy and passion and there is tonnes of chemistry. I am very much looking forward to the next installment.

Sleeping Angel (Soul Connection, #2)Sleeping Angel by Nikki Lynn Barrett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sleeping Angel is the second book in the Soul Connection series by Nikki Lynn Barrett.

This book is jam-packed full of so many emotions I kept having to stop to digest everything.
Logan is still struggling to cope after the murder of his sister. He blames everyone including himself. He wants answers and justice. He is struggling to move forward with his own life.
Angel already carries so much guilt. She might not fully understand all that she has seen just yet, but right now she just wants her life to feel normal.
Like the first book in this series, this story has a paranormal twist. Both of these characters need answers, but how far will they go to find them?

I found this book a little hard to keep up with at times, especially towards the beginning. Saying that though, I did really enjoy it. There are lots of twists, turns, and unanswered questions to keep you turning the pages right until the end.

I loved this book. This is an author that I have enjoyed reading from the first book I picked up of hers. This is the second book in this series which I highly suggest reading the first as it is just as great. Her stories pull me in from the beginning and her attention to details give the story a realistic feel. This book is no different. This is a story about Logan, Angel and one accident that changes everything for them. This is a story where guilt and a haunting past come colliding together. This is a fast paced story that has twists and turns that left me turning pages fast to the end. This was a great story and I highly recommend it.

This was beyond my expectations. I was hesitant going into this book as I have come across several books that have approached the vampire/wolf relationship saga and was loathe to go there again. Boy, was I wrong. So glad I gave this book a go. The writing style allowed the reader to connect with every single character, as you get snippets from their point of view. I love multiple POV books but this is a first where the point of view swaps several times within a chapter. The ranch style setting was perfectly unique and the mix of shifters, Gods, fae and Egyptian mythology drew me in and kept me entertained to the very end.

I loved reading this book, No Rest for the Wicked (Life Is Hell Book 1) by Naomi Valkyrie. It’s a paranormal story that had me hooked from the very beginning. I love the main character Delilah. When I read the synopsis of this book, I thought the Sheriff was going to be a bad guy. Instead, he’s a love connection. A. J. Renee has done it again with this novel. Cursed Whispers is the third book in the Broderick Coven series. Max is a veterinarian and literally talks to animals. Claudia is a werewolf who is rescued by Max as she lay dying in the forest. There is a lot of push and pull in their relationship with Max wanting to protect her and Claudia wanting to find her daughter and escape the people who are her captives. Cursed Whispers is the third book in the Broderick Coven series. I’m hooked on this series. AJ has absolutely outdone herself. If you love protective hero’s and strong heroines check this book out. While you can read it as a stand-alone, I would recommend starting from book 1. This novel is all about Max. The quite one.

An Unexpected Bonding by Lilly Rayman is the first book in The Unexpected Trilogy. You have to pay attention during this story, as it is written from different points of view and different points of time. That being said, it is amazing. When I read the synopsis, I knew I had to have it! It is not action packed constantly, and I feel as though this helps the reader get a better feel for the characters and the shifts in time and POV.

Do not base your idea of this book off Twilight, as this story is vastly different and I think people who hated Twilight will fall in love with this story.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is the first of a trilogy and after reading it, all I can say is wow! I can’t wait to read the others. The character development is great, the plot is well paced, and there’s just the right amount of romance. There are a lot of elements to this story (vampires, “werewolves”, fairies, Egyptian mythology, and more) but the author does a great job at shifting character POVs and showing the past and present without it getting too confusing. The characters are very relatable, despite being mostly non-human, which made the book much more enjoyable. Livvie is a strong female lead and I enjoyed her personality and how she grew throughout the story. I had a hard time putting the book down and look forward to reading more by this author!

Sleeping Angel (Soul Connection Book 2) by Nikki Lynn Barrett – Review by Dawn Brown

Sleeping Angel (Soul Connection, #2)Sleeping Angel by Nikki Lynn Barrett
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the Soul Connection series. The main character, Scott, from the first book is more of a minor character in this book (but he is still important.)
Angel is hit by a car at a party by a man that has been stalking her for years. While her body is in a coma, her soul has inhabited another woman’s body. She tries to find out what is going on and get back to her own body.
Logan lost his sister a few years ago and has survivor’s guilt. He has become an alcoholic and is the one who hit Angel with a car. He is just hoping that she survives, not just to keep himself out of jail for murder but also because he has added on more guilt.
Opinion
I absolutely loved the first book and expected to like this one jsut as much. There are some differences between the last and the present book. I was confused in several parts because there are so many characters, both in and out of their right bodies. The main concept of the book is a cool idea that I still find interesting. Overall, I liked the book but thought there was too much to follow.

Love how the author still can pull you into the story from the very beginning. I could not set aside until I was finished reading the entire story. These are my kind of stories too! Very well written, loved the plotline and characters. Does include it’s fair share of witches, shifters, magic, danger, drama, and of course chemistry. I can’t wait to read more in this fantastic series. So looking forward to the next book.

An Unexpected BondingAn Unexpected Bonding by Lilly Rayman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

An Unexpected Bonding (The Unexpected Trilogy Book 1) by Lilly Rayman
4 Stars

Let’s start off by saying that this is not your usual vampire/ shifter romance. The backstory of this plot was well thought out and original. With the faeries meddling in the mortal realm, the vampires and wolf shifters were created. They have been at war for centuries and the fates have predicted peace once again. How better to achieve that than with unexpected bondings between the species?

The main part of the story takes place in Texas with continual jumps into the past to explain the reason behind modern day events. I want to say that there are two main characters but there are several with their own uniqueness and depth which add to the story. I love the fact that the author added Egyptian mythology to the story. It added something special. It was different than the usual storylines. Although there are some minor editing flaws, the book is well written and interesting.

My only issue with the book is that I found it long. There are in depth explanations and repetitions of those explanations. There are several points of views which led to repeating scenes. I feel like this book could have been a trilogy unto itself. With each book focusing on a separate couple. Livia and Darius in part one, Isia and Cato in part two and Quintessa and Julio in the last part. I’m still looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Wrong. If I thought I knew the sorcerer’s power before, I was seriously mistaken. Now that he had what he wanted in is sights, there was nothing, or no one that was going to stand in his way. Even if it meant killing those that had once been his friends.
With a life I had longed for, as well as the people I was growing to care for on the line, I had to figure out how to escape, yet again, and get back to The Zayed before it was too late.

An Unexpected Bonding (The Unexpected Trilogy Book 1) by Lilly Rayman – Review by Angela Hayes

An Unexpected BondingAn Unexpected Bonding by Lilly Rayman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

An Unexpected Bonding is the first book in The Unexpected Trilogy by Lilly Rayman. This is an original paranormal romance with vampires, shifters, Fae, Egyptian mythology, a secret society, drama, chemistry, interesting characters, and intriguing developments.
This is my first read from Lilly Rayman, so I really didn’t know what to expect- but the blurb intrigued me, so I took the chance and one-clicked myself a copy. What I discovered is a well-woven and richly descriptive story that held my attention the whole way through.
This story definitely has its own flair. It’s an interesting blend of vampires, shifters, mythology, fae, and spice. I enjoyed the authors original take on the ‘lore’. There were a few minor issues with the story- but nothing that detracted too much from my overall enjoyment of the book.
I am looking forward to exploring more of Ms. Rayman’s work.

Thank you, Lilly Rayman!

Cursed Whispers is the third book in the Broderick Coven Series by A.J. Renee. I know I said this for the previous book in this series- but this is definitely my favourite, so far. The series just seems to get better and better with each new instalment.
This is a wonderful paranormal romance with witches, shifters, chemistry, danger, drama, magic, and more. I was hooked right from the beginning and read the entire story in one sitting.
Max Broderick gave off Dr. Dolittle vibes, as he can literally ‘talk to the animals’. But he’s in for quite a life changing surprise when he rescues a dying wolf. The wolf turns out to be a beautiful shifter by the name of Claudia- who has a complicated story to tell. When everything is revealed, Max will do everything he can to help and protect Claudia. What happens makes for a really great read!
Can’t wait for more.

I wasn’t sure what I was going to get when I picked up Blue Summer: Part One by Everly Taylor, but I knew just from the gorgeous cover I needed to read it and see what adventure awaited me. I am so glad I dove right in. This world that Ms. Taylor created was one that easily transported me and made me feel the magic that she created so effortlessly. I felt as if I was right there with the characters and like the world was very real and tangible. I love when a book can do that for me so this was an instant win in my book. I particularly loved how this was a sweet and easy read with underlying themes of acceptance and character growth for many ages that could enjoy the read. I know my daughters could pick this up and read it in a few years and enjoy it as much as I did now in my thirties. This is one you won’t want to miss out on if you enjoy witty and strong characters with paranormal themes and slight romance undertones. I look forward to seeing what will come in the second part hopefully very soon!

This story was an exquisite mix of past and present. As soon as you thought everything was calm and going well all heck breaks loose. I loved all the twists and turns. Author Lilly Rayman has the ability to write about several characters and their backgrounds without losing the main focus of the story. The wild west meets present day. Love it.
