Third Time’s a Ghost (Haunted Ever After Book 3) by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Sara Shalovelo

Third Time's a Ghost: A Ghostly Paranormal Romance (Haunted Ever After, #3)Third Time’s a Ghost: A Ghostly Paranormal Romance by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I’m becoming a huge fan of Carrie Pulkinen’s. From the first book I stumbled upon, her stories have been entertaining, with great world building and relatable characters. So when I found this book, I had high hopes, as I always do. However, the beginning felt slow and dry and felt also a bit cliché. I did really love the characters that entered the story and the cross over but the story didn’t really hold my attention… until the twist. The twist took me completely off guard and offered that kind of suspense that keeps the pages turning until the end.
Though this wasn’t my favourite book by Carrie Pulkinen, I still recommend it as it completes the series.

I was diagnosed with clinical depression after the loss of my mother, father and husband within three years of each other; all to cancer. 24/7 in-home care, coupled with the loss I felt, left its mark on my psyche.

Depression takes up a lot of my life. Reading and writing are the only things I have found that help (in connection with regular medication), even if only for a short time. To escape to a different world can make a big difference in my mood in real time.

To put things in perspective, when I was at my lowest point, I couldn’t open mail, talk on the phone, or even drive to the store. Walls of sadness surrounded me. As they closed in, tears would fall. There didn’t need to be a reason or trigger.

People ask me why I started writing. My answer is simple: I wanted to create a world into which other people with similar problems could escape. I wanted to share the one place that had helped me for many years.

I have always said that as long as one person finds a little bit of happiness out of my books, I am, in my opinion, an accomplished author. The same is true for every writer out there. Please don’t ever let anyone tell you different.

I read books as well as write them and have visited the worlds many different authors have created. Those worlds not only make me feel better, but give me the strength to face real life again. I want to thank everyone who writes—I want them to know they are making a difference.

Fast forward to today…

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a gripping read, full of suspense and intrigue. It’s a mystery with some paranormal elements and there were some intense moments. The tension and drama had me guessing all the way through, and I hadn’t guessed all the plot reveals by the end of the book. The plot was developed more than the character Tessa but I still enjoyed all the action and tension. A great read!

Beckoned: Born of Darkness is a wonderful read. From the first page I loved it. It just socks you right in and has you engrossed. This is definitely a recommended read. Sexy vampires with attitudes, a strong female hunter what’s not to love about this novel? The Born of Darkness series is a very steamy reverse harem paranormal romance that features one badass female hunter, her four fated vampire mates, and provocative MFMMM scenes. Not for anyone under the age of 18. R. B. Fields is an absolute genius when it comes to imagination.

What an interesting read! It pulled me in and I didn’t come back up for air until the very last page. It was one of those stories that had me on the edge of my seat, eager to see what would happen next. The charcters are great in this one but I think I loved Tessa the most. She was awesome. The suspense and mystery are what what made this story a great one and I cannot wait to get my hands on more by this author.
I would definitely recommend this to a friend!

Rebecca RemainsRebecca Remains by Jessica Aiken-Hall
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rebecca Remains is an entertaining and enjoyable suspenseful, mystery story with a paranormal twist, all of which had me hooked from page one. When Tessa Stevens meets her husband Keith, she thinks that all the tragedies and loss which she has suffered is now in her past. However, through her dreams a visitor makes Tessa see that her husband is not who he pretends to be. When this visitor starts appearing in her home and with her sister also having suspicions about Keith, Tessa starts to investigate. She uncovers family secrets and deceptions along with a mystery surrounding a decade old murder. Tessa’s ‘gift’ also awakens and she can no longer ignore it and in fact has to embrace it if she is to discover the truth. This was a wonderfully written fast paced novel which had me gripped from start to finish. The plot twists and turns kept me guessing and the paranormal element added an additional layer to the story. Tessa is a likeable character and she makes a great main character. The authors descriptive narrative really bought both the characters and the setting to life making me feel fully immersed in the storyline. I found this novel to be an engaging read which I would definitely recommend.

This is not the first book I’ve read by Jessica Aiken-Hall. There’s good reason for that, she’s an amazing author. In this story our main character is Tessa. There are many supporting people in this book that are worth mentioning, but honestly just read it. It’s an original story about a woman (Tess) who’s married to Keith. She thinks this is the perfect life, until some things don’t start adding up. She reconnects with her sister Emily to try and figure out what’s off with her relationship.

Rebecca RemainsRebecca Remains by Jessica Aiken-Hall
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Rebecca Remains was not what I was expecting it to be! It is the first book in the Shadow of Doubt series by Jessica Aiken-Hall. The first half of the book was really intense and action packed. I was on the edge of my seat and didn’t want to put it down. The second half was not nearly as exciting, and dragged a little. It went from a suspense thriller, to a romance/new friendship building, then ended as a thriller again. I wish the middle part had a little more suspense. I felt like Keith dropped off for too long, with how intense he was in the beginning. I do like the characters, and their friendships are well developed. The twist of WHO Rebecca is, is not what I was expecting. The next book in the series sounds exciting and I cannot wait for it to be released next month. Jessica’s books are always twisted and suspense filled, and this was no different. Recommend Rebecca Remains, and her other books.

This is a Paranormal Erotica Romance that I found myself lost in the pages and couldn’t put it down. I was absolutely intrigued and had to know what was going to happen next. The characters are well developed and easy to follow. The story flowed so well I was finished before I realized . This is about a strong female hunter who is a nurse and at night is a serial hunter. Find out what happens next when the person she’s hunting is not only a vampire but a hot vampire.? I highly recommend reading this book I look forward to seeing what this author brings us next.

Beckoned (Born of Darkness, Book 1) by R.B. Fields was a thrilling 5 star read.
It took just a little bit for me to get pulled in but once I was I couldn’t put it down.

Dawn is a nurse who is one a mission to help get bad guys off the streets. At night she goes hunting for serial killers, what she didn’t expect was a vampire. With a dangerous twist she finds herself in the arms of a very hot vampire, Silas.

Silas is intrigued by Dawn, he brings her home with him knowing she is in danger. They both will be hunted by the dead vampires clan. When Dawn meets the rest of the clan they are all pulled in by her, but why? And my oh my do we get some very hot and steamy moments.

Will Dawn continue to bond with all of the vampires? Will they be able to keep her safe? And just what is Dawn?

Overall this was a thrilling read. I loved all of the characters, they added a great element to the story. I felt like I was getting a mix of Lost boys and True Blood with this group of hot vampires. There are some twists and turns that added a great element to the story. We do end on a slight cliff hanger so I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. Beckoned (Born of Darkness Book 1) by R. B. Fields. This is my first book by this author but it most certainly won’t be my last! Its an amazing dark paranormal romance! Its the story of Dawn who is a nurse in the ER and has never felt like she belongs anywhere. Dawn is also a vampire which might be the reason she has trouble fitting in! At night she travels around looking for somewhere to fit in and one night she gets attacked by a vampire that is a human serial killer. She is also saved by another vampire. Silas is the vampire that saves Dawn and he knows now that the head Vampire slayer is after them so they have to run. While she and Silas get to know each other as they are running for their lives Dawn realizes that Silas is HOT! There are a lot of other characters involved and lots of other vampires, craziness and death. This book will take you by the hand and lead you down a dark, sexy, scary path that you will be screaming for more! Do yourself a favor and read this book to find out if Silas and Dawn survive the Vampire slayers. You will be so glad you did!

Beckoned (Born of Darkness, Book 1)Beckoned by R.B. Fields
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I found myself finishing this book quickly because I could not put it down.

Dawn is a nurse who finds herself stalking the streets at night to hunt down serial killers. However, her latest hunt finds her fighting a vampire. When another vampire steps in and kills one of his own to protect Dawn, neither he nor Dawn are safe. However, when Silas brings Dawn home to protect them both…his housemates have their reservations. As time passes, they all start coming to the conclusion that there is more to Dawn than meets the eye…and they can’t agree if that is a good thing or a bad thing. It doesn’t help that all 4 vampires are sexy and Dawn can’t seem to keep her hands (among other parts) off of them. When another hive of vampires come seeking vengeance for their member’s death…it is obvious they they want Dawn. Will Silas and the other defend her against their own kind…or is she more trouble than she’s worth?

I really liked the back and forth between Dawn and the guys…even surly Markula. I definitely want to read the rest of the series now because I need to know how it all plays out!

Beckoned (Born of Darkness, Book 1)Beckoned by R.B. Fields
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is an interesting take on the vampire world. Dawn is a nurse by day and a stalker of monsters by night.
After the violent death of her mother, Dawn takes out the monsters that attack innocents and the police are unable to find. It’s on her latest hunt that she encounters Silas who kills a vampire to save her, then takes her back to his hive knowing that he may have just started a war with another vampire hive but he is unable to resist the pull to Dawn.
The writing style is very descriptive and with multiple POV it really gives you a feel for how everyone is feeling.
Silas’ hive don’t understand the pull they have to Dawn’s or the powers she appears to display but they are all attracted to her and wiling to fight to keep her with them.
This does end on a cliffhanger and I am looking forward to the next book.

This is my first book by R.B Fields. It’s a very “steamy” book, with multiple scenes that don’t disappoint. I typically read books a little “less steamy”, but this one held my attention very well. The word building was great as well as the storyline. Dawn is our main female character, she’s witty and not afraid to fight for what she wants/believes in. This is a paranormal type story, so our other characters are vampires. There are four main vampires that become part of Dawn’s life. It’s a good story with some great sex scenes, totally worth a read!

Vampires, Romance and hot steamy reading. That is what you will find in this story. Full length novel with a touch of Paranormal. Strong women make for a strong story about vampire hunting. But that one vampire is more than she bargained for. This story will keep you reading. There is plenty of hot steamy romance, along with a storyline. All is not what it seems.

R. B. Fields is a new to me author. I have found another writer that writes what I enjoy reading. I love the characters, even more, the strong woman who knows what she wants and goes after it. You will find this story to be a page turner, starting with page one, ending with The End. You can be sure I will be looking for the next exciting read by R. B. Fields. Well Done R. B. Fields. Beckoned it the first book of the Born of Darkness series, and I am super excited to get a chance to see what will come next. I loved the way Fields wrote these characters so well you can’t help but to fall in love with them as you follow them tackling the things life throws their way. I really enjoyed the erotic romance undertones as well because they were done well and with grace that this lifestyle deserves. I can’t wait to see what will happen next!

Wow, Rebecca Remains is so good! As I began reading this book, I immediately had red flags about the main character’s husband, Keith. I found myself questioning everything he said and did even while Tessa was saying he was a perfect husband. I read more and more of the story and learned of Tessa’s life. I was drawn into the mystery and quite unable to put the book down. Parts of the story were so intense that I was on the edge of my seat waiting for the other shoe to drop. Boy, did it ever drop. The end was so unexpected and so surprising with a twist that I never saw coming. Jessica Aiken-Hall artfully wove into the story a lesson about finding yourself and believing in yourself while writing a fantastic story!

Beckoned is the first book in the Born of Darkness series by R B Fields.

I love it when a new series pulls you in from the start, and that’s just what this book did. It’s been a while since I was drawn into a vampire story, despite enjoying them I find that they usually follow a similar storyline. This book, however, kept me on my toes. The characters are strong and full of personality. The story is engaging and fast-paced. I love it when you can get completely lost in a book and are so absorbed by the storyline that you just can’t put it down.

I quite often find that vampire stories are aimed more at the YA audience. This one, however, is definitely aimed at adults. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
