Stone of Destiny (Juniper Samoni Trilogy Book 1) by Nadine Travers – Review by Erica FIsh

Stone of DestinyStone of Destiny by Nadine Travers
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This author, Nadine Travers has become one of my go to authors. Her descriptive writing styles make reading effortlessly. She creates the world and I just get lost in it. The descriptive scenery makes the world real. Her plot line has some punch to it. It kept me engaged the entire time I read the book. Her characters fly off the page. In this book, Juniper is a fabulous main character. Juniper has been asked to go and get the Stone of Destiny. She needs to get it and protect it from evil. Stone of Destiny has the power to make people slaves. Can you imagine this getting in the hands of evil?. Juniper is up for the challenge and what a challenge it is. This story is packed with adventure and mayhem, I highly recommend this book and I cannot wait to see what is coming up in the next book.

Stone of Destiny (Juniper Samoni Trilogy Book 1) by Nadine Travers
4 Stars

This is an action packed fantasy novel filled with adventure, danger and some mystery. Juniper is a witch warrior who has some extra special powers. Magical relics call to her and this time she needs to retrieve the Stone of Destiny. If it falls into the wrong hands, the fallout could be devastating. She’s not the only one that wants it, she just needs to get there first.

I found the story to be quite original. With the witch warriors and the magical relics, it almost felt like an epic adventure. There was an underlying sense of foreboding. The world building was fantastic. The author has a vivid imagination. In this book there is clearly the “good “ guys and the “bad” guys but I believe that as the series progresses, these lines will get blurred. The author left enough crumbs in this novel which will have you wanting to pick up the pieces in the next.

Another fantastic book from this author! I absolutely loved it. This author has a fantastic writing style which draws me in straight away. I loved the first book in the series and I am so glad that this one didn’t disappoint. From the beautiful descriptive language to the fantastic characters I was hooked from beginning to end. I love Maggie and Will, their journey is far from easy and I loved the story plot for this book! It was so exciting to read!
I would definitely recommend reading book 1 prior to this one to fully understand the characters and their story. I think if you love historical/time travel stories then this series is absolutely one you should read!

Emma Aubrey is a force to be reckoned with. This sweet romance has a twist of the paranormal but once you read about Emma, you fall head over heels for her. Toby himself is mysterious, and I love a handsome mysterious innkeeper. Who wouldn’t want to fall in love with someone like that? Caulberg did a fantastic job of engaging the reader and keeping the suspense and mystery going until the very end. I also LOVED reading about the English stores of paranormal creatures. I recommended this book for lovers of mystery, romance, paranormal, and sci-fi. 4 out of 5 stars.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ride With The Moonlight by Andrea Matthews is the second book in the Thunder on the Moor series. This series does have to be read in order as it is a continuation of the characters story.
For me this book was even better than the first. I found it so easy to jump straight back into the story and reconnected with the characters immediately. I was excited to see where their journey was going to take them next and how they would overcome everything that seemed to be in their way.
The writing in this book was just as imaginative and detailed as it was in the first. This meant it was so easy to picture everything going on. This has been a strong series and this book really just reinforces that completely. I would highly recommend you give this series a try today!

License to Bite: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 1) AUDIO BOOK by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Kayla Octaviano

Three Stars Review

This book took me by surprise. I was expecting a cliché vampire society, a self-absorbed woman, and a ridiculous romance that came to pass in obvious ways. I was surprised by how wonderful this book was. It made me laugh. The narrators accents are hilarious and fit the story perfectly. I love the location of the story, it fits it so well, it feels like this story wouldn’t belong anywhere else. The romance was slow to come, but the passion was present from the beginning. Honestly, the pop culture references made me laugh the hardest. The characters are kind of eccentric, but they end up meshing together well. The best relationships are formed between complete opposite people. And the supernatural element is portrayed from a new point of view with new rules. Very clever.

Award-winning, multi-genre author Victoria Saccenti picked up pencil and paper the moment her childhood book heroes started conversing with her. Sounds a little crazy, but there’s no rhyme or reason for inspiration. She writes romantic women’s fiction, contemporary romance, and paranormal romance. Her stories explore the twists and turns of human interaction, the many facets of love, and all possible happy endings. After thirty years of traveling the world, she’s settled in Central Florida. However, if she could convince her husband to sell their home, she would pack up her computer and move to Scotland, a land she adores.

Claire has found a winner with this original fantasy series that is fast paced. The world building is carefully crafted as are the characters who are well developed and interesting. It is full of every kind of mythical creature and action and suspense. I enjoy Claire’s writing and she is becoming one of my go to authors. It is a boxed set of short stories, but it does not take away anything from the stories and the plots are solid, in fact it leaves you wanting more.

The series starts with our heroine who has just discovered that everything she thought she knew has been turned on its head with the death of her father and a strange new world. And so, the journey begins.

For as long as she can remember, Kat Caulberg has been obsessed with history and the paranormal. Somewhat to the dismay of her parents, her interests led her into both museums and graveyards as a child, a trend which has continued into her adulthood. This has influenced her reading tastes and her writing, whether it be a good ghost story, thrilling tales of time-travel, or devouring endless volumes of ancient warfare.

She signed a contract with Soul Mate Publishing in 2018 for her first novel, Three Star Island, a time-travel story set in 1721. She enjoys writing strong, quirky heroines, and has a weakness for cheeky heroes who have as much compassion as they have flaws.

Kat currently lives in North Carolina with her Englishman and a few cats.

A historical fiction story that takes place in Scotland. Not only that, it includes time travel, family issues, love, adventure, and so much more. Wonderful job by the author to make the reader actually feel like he/she was in Scotland experiencing the life alongside the characters. The se characters have to survive running away from family in Scotland only to get accused of treason in a place they thought would be safer. License to Bite: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 1) AUDIO BOOK by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Dani Dando

Thought this was a pretty amusing tale that pleasantly surprised me. It never really took itself too seriously and had me quite literally guffawing as I listened. At first, I found the narration a little jarring especially with the voices of the male characters, but after a while, I properly got into the story and even that didn’t bother me, I was having too much fun. I mean, to be honest, the whole concept had an amusing genius to it that you just have to applaud, I mean a vampire that faints at the sight of blood? Hehe, it’s just so wonderfully daft that it’s great.

I liked Jane, I thought she was chirpy and chipper and just bursting with character, it did start to annoy me with the whole, I don’t belong to anyone schtick, feel as though the point was drummed home one too many times. It was obvious that she was strong and independent from the way she conducted herself, I really didn’t feel like we needed to be told so many times. I thought that Ethan was an interesting character, he got more entertaining as time went on and mostly then it was because he was bouncing off Jane, getting frustrated at her bubbliness. I also felt more connected to him when his past was revealed a little more.

I will say that you will not be bored with this, it’s ridiculous and unpredictable but that is half the fun. I recommend this to anyone looking for a good chuckle with a bit of spice sprinkled in.

License to Bite: A Paranormal Comedy by Carrie Pulkinen

Narrated by Hollie Jackson

License to Bite just made me laugh and feel good listening to it. Carrie Pulkinen is a relatively new author to me, but from the two books I have listened to she is fast becoming an author of choice for me. Jane is hilarious and Ethan is reserved, but together they are perfect. Sophie and Gaston add in the perfect foil to Jane and Ethan. This story was full of witty dialogue and New Orleans charm. I look forward to listening to the rest of the books in New Orleans Nocturnes series.

This is the first audio I have listen to narrated by Hollie Jackson. Her accent was great and she really hit the laugh factor. I will be keeping my out for other books narrated by her.

4 1/2 Stars

Stone of Destiny is the first book in the Juniper Simons Trilogy by Nadine Travers. It is a thrilling action-packed urban fantasy- with plenty of the paranormal, supernatural, adventure, mystery, intrigue, drama, and danger.
Juniper Simons is a witch warrior tasked with a dangerous mission to retrieve the Stone of Destiny, a powerful talisman with the potential to enslave the world, before it falls into the wrong hands. Should be simple, Right? Especially since the stone has been ‘calling’ her. But the evil forces have their own agenda, and will stop at nothing to get the stone. What happens makes for an exciting adventure.

A Paranormal Romantic Comedy

New Orleans Nocturnes

Book 1

AUDIO BOOK

By Carrie Pulkinen

☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆

This is a full length audible romantic novel. Let’s step into the paranormal vampire teacher vs student vs romance. The romantic comedy we are looking for.

Jane is the Governor’s daughter who gets what she wants, when she wants. Visiting New Orleans she falls to her demise, waking up dead. Struggling to accommodate her new Death/life. Finding blood is the last thing she wants to do. Oh lets not forget she passes out at the sight of blood. Ethan had his heart broken when he lost his true love. Jane however reminds him of her. Thinking she is reincarnated, he must get to know Jane. Although shortly after marking her, he realizes his mistake. Now he must do what he can to keep them both from getting staked.

Carrie Pulkinen has done it again. This story captivated my interest on page one. The characters Jane and Ethan both keep this comedy going. I have to say this story kept me laughing. As well as cheering for them both. This well written romance was fun to read. I can’t wait to see where the story will take us next. Well done Carrie Pulkinen! Well Done!

I give Flipping the Bird: A Paranormal Chick Lit Novel (Shift Creek Book 1) by Carrie Pulkinen, 5 stars.

This author never fails to amaze me by how good each and every one of her books are. This is a new series that I fell in love with in the very beginning. Alice is so much fun. Not to mention that I have very rarely (if at all) seen a crow shifter. This makes it even more refreshing . As you can tell by the title, this book is written a fun, entertaining way and you will be unable to put it down until you finish. Besides the fun aspect of the book, there is the romantic angle as well as suspense on what will happen to the town.

Overall, it is a quirky, fun supernatural romance that will leave you wanting more. I highly recommend this book.

I really enjoyed this fun, lighthearted romance combined with some delightful supernatural elements. Alice Crawford is a salvage artist who makes art by collecting junk and also a crow shifter and lives in a place called Shift Creek. The creek is named shift creek as every full moon it back flows and rejuvenates its healing properties. Donovan Drake is a warlock, who has lost his father and his magic is locked. He has come to the creek to unlock his magic with the healing powers of the creek. But when he finds himself falling for the crow shifter, he knows things are not turning out as he had planned. The story is action packed, filled with hilarious moments, romance and mystery. It is a fairly short and an entertaining read.
