These nocturnes novels always make me laugh. They are lighthearted, romantic, witty and funny. Santa Got Run Over by a Vampire: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 4) by Carrie Pulkinen did not disappoint. Sometimes I laugh out loud. Jane is so real, and the dialogue is so normal. I love the New Orleans landscape and the return of favorite characters. When I need a quick positive jolt Ms. Pulkinen’s supernatural Pulkinen neighborhood does it for me. Be aware there is a little hot and steamy adult “stuff” going on but not enough to distract from this merry little tale. If you need to end your evening on a smile this one will do it for you.

Once again Rowena is stuck in the middle of things. Sanguinia is tossed into chaos. Rowena tries her best to report the truth in the middle of a war zone. Understanding both sides, she finds it hard to pick a side. Yet when put in a situation with dire consequences, Rowena is finally for ex to make a decision, for better or for worse.
The book is filled with action, danger and betrayal. There are many things to keep you interested. Although Rowena has three love interests, I’m still waiting to see any romance happening. I’m not sure I understand her choices. She’s not with Luka; although he’s proven he would die for her. She stays with Vincenzo although they act more like roommates. I was disappointed with many aspects of this story. Regardless, it was well written and that’s why I gave it four stars. Here’s to hoping Rowena makes better choices in the next book.

Alexander Charalambides has taken Vampires Romance to new heights. The story holds so much more. You can bet that as soon as you open this book you will not be able to put it down. But before you open this one, I encourage you to read Book 1 and Book 2 first. As this one starts up at the end of 2. I love the characters in this story. I also love watching them work through all that they face. Put your feels out there and enjoy this story as much as I have. Well done Alexander Charalambides! Well Done!

Aiko is the first book in The Heartstrings series by Brooke May. It is a fun and original paranormal story that I devoured in a matter of hours. Aiko was chosen by cupid as one of his team who help humans find love- but over the centuries things have not gone smoothly, with mishaps, chaos, and mayhem following in Aiko’s wake. Earning her quite the reputation, as well as getting her suspended from duty for quite a lengthy period. Finally, she has been cleared for duty, once more, but discovers her first assignment will be anything but easy. She will have her work cut out for her, that’s for sure. Will Aiko succeed, or will she end up being benched again? What ensues makes for an entertaining and fun read. Looking forward to following the rest of the series!

First, We Kill All the Lawyers by Seelie Kay was a great 5 star read. I was pulled in right from the beginning.
Donovan is a highly respected lawyer in Chicago with a secret, he’s a vampire. When things take a serious twist after a case and someone attempts to take his life Donovan needs to find out who is after him and why? When other lawyers start to die it becomes very obvious that someone is focusing on lawyers.
Overall I really enjoyed this thrilling read. I really liked Donovan, he was handsome, smart and so much more. The additional characters also added a great element to the story. We also get the killers POV which allows us to see the person’s thoughts and craziness. I was on the edge of my seat trying to guess who the killer was and their motive. Eye of Death by Alexander Charalambides is the third book in the Vampire State series. Let me warn you to read these in order because the story does carry from one to the other and honestly, you don’t want to miss out on a great series. This book is even better than the last and I tore through it. As conditions have changed in Sanguinia life has changed for Rowena. In this book, there is a new romantic interest for her, but nothing is ever as simple as that. I really have enjoyed seeing the plot grow and change in this series and they always leave me wanting more. This is a great series of books if you enjoy paranormal, mystery, romance, and lots of twists and turns to keep you on your toes. I look forward to reading more from Charalambides in the future.

This novel is a fantasy romantic comedy with little bits of history and myth sprinkled through it. I found this to be a fun, lighthearted read and the unusual storyline had me hooked from beginning to the last page. The story centres around Cupid and his arrow which with the slightest prick is meant to bring love in to your life. It turns out that Cupid does not work alone but has six beings which help him guide us mortals to love. However, Aiko is not a great Cupid and has been in exile for forty years for causing ‘the worst tragedy in human history’. Aiko has been given a second chance to prove herself and help humanity. Her assignment is Alejandro Gomez who on paper is everything that a woman could dream of, but only in looks. Alejandro’s romantic abilities are non existent and he’s not too keen on having Aiko’s help to begin with either. Meanwhile Cupid and the other five beings are just hoping that Aiko does not cause the world to end. This book has some really touching and heartwarming moments and also parts that our laugh out loud funny. The storyline flows well and the descriptive narrative really bought both the setting and the characters to life. I loved the fact that alongside the mortals there were other mythical beings living and helping to guide them. Aiko is a very likeable character and I felt immersed in her world whilst reading this novel. I am pleased that it’s the first book in a new series and look forward to the next instalment.

My first read by May and I loved every minute of it. Romance meets its maker Cupid and his helpers. Definitely a must read book and you won’t be disappointed.
Aiko is one of Cupid’s helpers and she is the cause of many great love stories that went bad. After not having an assignment for forty years she is finally going out for an assignment.
People watching is a favorite pastime of hers. When she’s assigned to the guy she just watched get his heart stomped on she’s in shock. The quote I chose for Aiko is: “Thanks for pointing that out. I figured with the lack of wooden boats and actual clothing, this was modern times.”
Highly recommended for Paranormal Romantic Comedy lovers.

April been having some Sexy dream about another man. April life is about to change forever. I loved the detail of Guardian and keepers. Damien and April are both very stubborn characters . Jared and April are in a relationship. Jared not as nice as he seems. I would highly recommend listening or reading this book their is so much going on you find yourself memoriesied. April is not an easy charge. Circumstances being along the book as you feel elements of real life included.
Aiko is one of six assistants created by cupid to help out when his workload becomes too much for him on his own, they all have their talents, but Aiko is one who always messes up, from minor to major, plagues to the extermination of civilisations and everything in between, but Aiko now has a chance to make up for these past mistakes and times in exile. Alejandro Gomez is a man with everything, the looks, the job, the personality, but when it comes to women, he is clueless and can’t seem to get the girl he wants.
We first meet both Aiko as an observer and Alejandro having his heart broken, he is in full romance mode, mariachi outfit and all, but it still hasn’t worked. Shortly after this spectacle, Aiko is called home and summoned to a meeting with Cupid and his other assistants, where she is surprisingly given a new assignment and the others show their feelings when it is announced and not many of them are positive reminders of Aiko’s past disasters. When she receives the file, she realises that her new assignment is the man who she has just been observing, the irony is clear, but she is determined to be successful this time.
The time comes when Aiko has to introducer herself and it just so happens that he is looking for a new assistant and this is where she makes her presence known, but it is not all plain sailing even from the beginning and although positive things start to appear, they are quickly forgotten when the negative things start, but at least Aiko has a plan, even if Alejandro is not convinced that it is going to work. He is shocked and doesn’t want anything to do with Aiko, but when he realises that he is going to have no choice in the matter, he finally relents and agrees to Aiko’s help, albeit begrudgingly..
This is a story of romance and a cupid who has lost confidence in their abilities, it is a testament to second chances and making up for past mistakes, but what they are and what the consequences may be is a question only answered by reading the book to find out whether Aiko and Alejandro can work together to create a happy ending.

This book was Just what I needed at present. I have been reading some heavy books and was looking forward for something light to read. As I was reading the book, I was picturing a movie being made , it is a perfect rom-com and people will love it. Aiko is one of the love angels of cupid. But unfortunately, she has had disastrous experiences before and had been suspended from that role. She gets her first assignment in the form of Alejandro, who is a kind and a caring man. Aiko is determined to get a perfect woman for him. But she makes matters complicated when she chooses two instead of one, one whom she thinks is ideal for him and the other, completely opposite, to point out the glaring differences. So real that I could be friends with them. The details of the story makes me feel like I am right with Rowena and in action with her.She is trying to report about the happenings around her. Aiko is a great fantasy, romantic comedy by Brooke May. It is the first book in the Heartstrings series. Having read, and enjoyed a few other of Brooke May’s books, Aiko was absolutely nothing like what I was expecting. I’m not 100% sure what I was expecting from this book but what I got was definitely not it. Now that doesn’t mean that I’m dissing the book or saying anything bad about it. Not at all. It’s just very different from what I thought I was about to read. Aiko is a totally fascinating character. She’s a Cupid. A very bad cupid. Everything she does turns into a disaster. Is it any wonder she’s not been allowed to carry out any cupid assignments for 40 years! But now she’s got her first assignment, what could possibly go wrong?? How about everything!! This is a hilarious romantic comedy that had me laughing out loud so many times. Aiko is so full of good intentions and just wants to be a good cupid but boy does she come up with some crazy ideas to get Alejandro (her assignment) to fall in love with the perfect woman. This is a great read if you are looking for something light hearted to fill up a few hours. I’m also looking forward to reading about the other cupids, who we got to meet in this book, in the remainder of this series.

Eye Of Death: A paranormal romance by Alexander Charalambides is the third book in the Vampire State series. This book is an amazing addition to the series and I think has to be my favourite one so far. The author has done an incredible job of keeping the excitement of this series alive. This book feels just as original and interesting as book 1 and it would be my recommendation that you do read this from the beginning!! I was hooked on this story right from the start and it really pulled me in. I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen, so much so I ended up reading the whole book in one sitting!! I was so caught up in the story and the development that before I knew it I was turning the last page. The author has really created a unique and intriguing series with these books. He has taken the usual vampire type stories and completely turned them on their heads. I am thoroughly enjoying it all so much and cannot wait to see what else is to come.

This was a brilliant read! I really enjoyed it. It definitely had me laughing out loud at times. Poor Jane running over Santa! This is definitely the kind of book that you would love to start all over again because it was that funny. This is the second book I have read by this author and I definitely know I am fan of hers already. Carrie Pulkinen has done it again! This time she has brought us novella as part of the New Orleans Nocturnes series where we once again meet Jane, Jane is adjusting to her new life a vampire and seems to be coping well with her new husband and running the hottest club! But things once again get shook up when she accidentally runs over Santa! To top it all off Jane’s dad is coming and there are a few things he’s not aware of yet! This book is an excellent fun festive read with a twist of paranormal. This read has romance and incredible humour that has you laughing out loud. This is an excellent entertaining read that has you hooked from the get-go and wanting to find out how Jane gets through it all! First, We KillAll the Lawyers is the first book in The Donovan Trait series by Seelie Kay. This is a paranormal suspense, filled with action, adventure and romance. This is a different genre than I’m used to with Seelie, but I was amazingly greatful I pick it up and can’t wait for the next book in this series. This story had me hooked on the very first page and I couldn’t put it down until I read the last. Donovan Trait is a wonderful character. He is a charming, confident lawyer. Oh and did I mention he. Is a vampire. If you looking for a change of pace from all of the holiday books, I would definitely recommend this great read.

I have read this series and while I know it’s going to be good, I always forget just how fun this series is. This book is no exception. Just the concept is hilarious and it is done in not only a fun way, but it is so interesting and keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. If you are familiar with the series, some of the characters you have come to love are back, and obviously we meet some new ones too. Santa and Mrs. Claus are great. The originality in this book makes the story so exceptional and you will be wishing there was more. At the same time, it is a complete story, the author does not leave you wondering.
While there are reoccurring characters from previous books, this one can easily be read as a standalone. If you are a fan of fun supernatural books and looking for something a little different for the holidays, this book is for you. In fact, considering the way this year has been, this is a refreshing, fun way to end the year.

I was seriously laughing so hard while reading this story. I’ve never read a book so funny that I couldn’t put it down because I was laughing so hard. The author really knew what she was doing when she wrote the story about our main lead Jane. It almost seem like she just could not help saying whatever popped into her head. The Willy Wonka comment was hysterical you have to read that part because you will die laughing. I do think that it was a little bit too much at times because it almost took away from the main part of the story. I also felt like she got away with it a little bit too much people kind of just ignore the fact that she did it and it was like yeah you should really speak up about that. I do feel that the author did an amazing job with writing the characters around her because they kind of pick up where she lacked. And the whole thing with her dad oh my gosh threw me off like way off. And Santa oh my goodness I cannot believe she did that to Santa. Anyway it was really good story especially when you got more into the heart of it into what the author was trying to get at the plot of the story. I really did like Gaston his character was very interesting because he was very goofy almost but also serious. I definitely recommend this book if you’re looking for a holiday laugh something that’s not to be taken serious but you still enjoy it anyway.

I LOVED this little look into Jane and Ethan’s life! The holiday aspect added to the story and I stayed up late reading….wondering what was up with Santa. The story moves along at a jolly good pace and easily put me in the holiday spirit. It is full of Santa-isms, puns and Jane’s crazy swear words. Jane is still a spirited gal Who takes all her accidents in stride. This isn’t her biggest but to me it’s the most fun one. I mean who doesn’t want to take a ride on Blitzen??
Overall I enjoyed this look back into Ethan, Gaston and Jane’s undead lives. They are still the same snarky, full of dry humor characters. We even get to see a few others from the series. The story is well written and really put me in the holiday spirit. It is full of holiday laughs and fun. I would highly recommend and not necessary but read License to Bite first since it’s how these characters meet.

Carrie Pulkinen is a genius. Period. She absolutely hands down has put together the best romantic comedy series… that just happens to have a paranormal bent. And this one? Pure comedic genius. Because why wouldn’t a vampire have a lead foot and run over Santa? I loved every single page and found myself laughing for all the right reasons. You have to read this book. It is pure gold.

Eye of Death: A paranormal romance (Vampire State Book 3) by Alexander Charalambides. This author continues to impress me once again I found myself completely lost in the pages of another fantastic addition to a great series. The characters are complex and well developed, the attention to even the smallest details always get me with this series you can tell the author takes great pride in what’s being written. The storyline is a faster paced storyline but in no way is that a bad thing it just keeps you on your toes. It’s a well written story that keeps me engaged from start to finish and I love every minute of it. I’m excited to see where this author takes readers next. Four big stars and highly recommended.

I have loved all of Brooke May’s romances that I have picked up by her and was so excited to get my hands on this one. Aiko is the first in The Heartstrings Series and I will definitely be following this one as it unfolds closely. This is a light and easy read that will have you swooning and giggling at all the right moments. I loved how this made cupid seem realistic or believable. Aiko is cupid and she is not slated to be the best one lol. She has had the worst luck. Alejandro is her latest client to find love for but what will happen when Aiko’s heart starts making some objections to hooking him up with anyone but her?!?! This is a fun one you don’t want to miss. I can’t wait to see what book two will bring us.

This series just keeps getting better and better, a feat I though Charalambides had made difficult to do with the last book in this series. Eye of Death is the third book in the Vampire State series from Charalambides. I would recommend that you start with book one if you haven’t before diving into this one. This is not your typical vampire or vampire romance series and really reimagines the rules we have come to expect in this particular trope. I love the action and adventure as well as the world building Charalambides weaves into his novels. I feel as if I could be right there alongside my favorite characters as they experience these adventures. I can’t say much more about the story line that isn’t already mentioned in the synopsis without ruining too much so I won’t. I can promise you this is one you do not want to miss out on reading though and you will be hooked on Charalambides unique writing styles that I have also come to love. Can’t wait for the next thing from him!

I really enjoyed this book. It is full of fun and laughed and of course romance.
Aiko is a cupid but she’s an unlucky one. Everything she touches goes wrong. When she is banned for dealing with humans she goes to people watch as a way to spend her days. That is until she gets her next assignment.
As a cupid Aiko’s job is to help people meet and fall in love. Should be easy right? However her assignment is Alejandro. On the surface Alejandro is perfect. Hes good looking, works as a vet and is very romantic however he can’t seem to keep a woman.
Aiko’s job is to find him his Mrs right and help him settle down. But things aren’t that simple and when he fights her at every turn her task seems impossible.
Will she be able to find Alejandro his perfect match? Is she doomed to fail like all the other times she’s dealt with humans?

Eye of Death (Vampire State Book 3) by Alexander Charalambides was a wonderful conclusion to the series. I love the close examination of the media’s impact on the public. The plot was captivating and the attention to detail was spot on. I enjoyed Rowena’s character and her development is apparent. I loved the random twists and turns that kept the story moving.

Eye of Death is the third instalment in the Vampire State seriesby Alexander Charalambides. As I have mentioned before, this series really does take vampire lore and shake it up- providing a very original and intriguing vampire story. There is so much going on, and this is so much more than I had expected- but I don’t want to give away too much and spoil it for you. I was engrossed right from the beginning- with vampires, discord, crisis, action, adventure, danger, drama, surprising developments, politics, war, a bit of a social commentary, the paranormal, and romance. There is definitely a bit of a dark dystopian feel to the story/series, which I love- and it definitely elevated my whole reading experience. I am eagerly awaiting the next book to see where we go from here.

Santa Got Run Over By a Vampireis Book #3.5 in the New Orleans Nocturnes series by Carrie Pulkinen. As with the other books in the series, it is a superb and highly original Paranormal Romantic Comedy. It’s a such a fun addition to the series. I have read all Ms. Pulkinen’s books now and have loved them all. The series, and this book are a little less spicy and intense than some of her other work/s- having a definitely cuter, sweeter, fun, and more humorous perspective of the New Orleans paranormal world. As I said, this is a paranormal romantic comedy- with vampires, Santa, reindeer, Mrs. Claus, magic, politics, supernatural elements, and drama- with an enchanting and humorous storyline and all set in mystical and magical New Orleans. We met Jane back in Book #1 when she was involved in a daring selfie moment that went wrong- that then resulted in her being ‘turned’ by Ethan (her now husband) to save her ‘life’. Ten months have passed since then and Jane is thriving in her undead life. Finding love and getting married, and taking on a job she loves running the hottest Vampire club in New Orleans. So, things look pretty bright. But then her father announces he will be arriving for Christmas- and he has no idea that she’s married, let alone a Vampire. Fate intervenes and her perfect life becomes even more complicated when Jane accidently runs Santa over- and the only way to save him, and Christmas, is to make him a vampire. But things won’t be quite that simple- with only three days to ‘train’ Santa on vampire life and laws brings a few hiccups’ with it that threaten her immortality- a bit of chaos ensues with funny banter, antics, and quips- making for some hilarious moments that made me laugh out loud. Can’t wait to see what Ms. Pulkinen has in store for us next!
