Winter’s Wolf (The Cursed Series Book 1) by Lou Grimes – Review by Faith Jackson

Winter's Wolf (The Cursed, #1)Winter’s Wolf by Lou Grimes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In this book, we meet Louvette, a teen getting adjusted to new schools but not without getting into a few fights. For the sake of her mom, she was willing to try to fit in but that doesn’t go so well as an attorney informs her she’s the beneficiary of her granddad’s estate at the Blackwood mansion but that mansion comes with lucid dreams that leave her unsettled. Her past begins to unravel as she must decide who she can and can’t trust along the way. I loved the characters from Louvette to her friend Cara and her relationship with Arsen. This is just book one and can’t wait to see what the others have in store!

Blind Magic (The Sanctuary Chronicles #2)Blind Magic by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A blind witch and a broken werewolf are bought together with a forbidden love spell in this book by India Kells. Sera Dover is an orphan witch where she’s obsessed with her magic and spell books. Determined to escape her past and move on with her future, she was hit with blindness unable to protect herself from a dangerous threat.
Ian Macon, the werewolf, has suffered a devastating loss after his mate has passed. He doesn’t believe he’ll ever replace her but when he meets Sera and her energy draws him in from her intelligence to her strong will. Drawn to who she is, he can’t leave without protecting her even if she doesn’t know it.
I loved the characters’ chemistry and the way they’re drawn to one another in a way that is undeniable. The action kept the reader on their toes watching and protecting Sera just like Ian does. The mystery is suspenseful and intriguing. Love this one!

Dead Magic (The Sanctuary Chronicles #3)Dead Magic by India Kells

Loved this book!! From beginning to end I was completely captivated by Finn and Violet’s story! The author (who I adore) wove a magical paranormal romance tale of two wonderful characters! There was so much going on in the story that I couldn’t put it down at all and read it in one sitting! The story just flowed easily from page to page – I think this could possibly be one of my favourite books by Ms Kells! I love how Violet and Finn really shouldn’t be together, Violet hates vampires, but there was something there between the two of them that was undeniable! I loved the interaction between the two of them! I did feel for Violet and what happened to her in her past and Finn really wanted to protect her.
I absolutely adored this story and cannot recommend it enough to other readers!

After being removed from her most recent school, she learns that she inherits her grandfather’s estate. As she settles into the Mansion, her past comes to fruition and she finds out who she can truly trust. Mystery and growth on top of all the other things. I was truly surprised. This was a paranormal story that the author brought to life with her charcters and her attention to details. I love all of the witches and shifters and the story had some parts that I didn’t see coming which was awesome. I can’t wait to read more by this author and more in this same series! Blind Magic (The Sanctuary Chronicles #2) by India Kells was a great 5 star read.
I was pulled in right from the beginning if you like paranormal romance you will love this book.

Sera is a witch who is gradually losing her sight. She is curious and likes to learn about things and she isn’t shy about asking people questions. I loved the scene where she asked Ian to turn for her so she could see how it was done.

We move forward with a great story with mystery and twist and turns. The author does a great job of pulling you in with her writing. I really liked Sera’s strength and fierceness in protecting her loved ones. The connection between Sera and Ian was great, you could feel it coming off the pages. I look forward to reading the next book in the series. 1-click and get started today.

I loved this book. This isn’t the first book I have read by this author so I knew it would be good going in because she is a very talented author. It turned out to be great. This story is full of magic, suspense, romance, amazing characters and more. I could not get enough of Ian, he is very protective of Sera and is drawn to her. His past shattered his heart but when he’s with Sera he feels better. Sera is intelligent, independent and fiercely loyal. There are also other characters in this book that would do anything for each other. This book kept me on the edge of my seat. I was completely enthralled in this unique and wonderful story. I was hooked from the beginning and I couldn’t put it down until I found out what was gonna happen. I highly recommend this awesome book.

5 stars!

I love paranormal and this book was unlike any paranormal I’ve read before, it’s refreshing. This book can be read as a stand alone but, I would recommend reading the first book. The story is wonderful, my heart was breaking for Sera, not because she is blind, because she can handle her own even with her disability, but because she couldn’t be with the one her heart loves the most. I was nervous for her and Ian, her werewolf lover, with Ian’s struggle to come to terms with his wife and daughter that have passed as well as the rules against inter species dating. The clever part to me in this book is finding out that Sera is not only a witch, and it’s a surprise at who her father really is, and the lengths she goes to find out how to stop the shadow people from coming after her and killing her. The loyalty of her friends and the shifter community is beautiful, they all rally to keep Sera safe and help wherever possible. I can’t wait to read Finn’s story which I am hoping comes next!

Winter’s Wolf is the first book in The Cursed series.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I got this book, but it turned out to be pretty good. The story concept is interesting and I enjoyed the characters. The author does a good job of building suspense so it keeps you reading. There are a few places where the story breaks down a bit, but I think this series has promise.

One of the things that caught me in this book are the names of the characters. I don’t know why it stood out, but the names really fit this book well.

Overall, a good read!

Winter's Wolf (The Cursed, #1)Winter’s Wolf by Lou Grimes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I give Winter’s Wolf (The Cursed Book 1) by Lou Grimes, 5 stars.

I really enjoyed this book. This is a YA supernatural book where the main character discovers who they really are. While there are many books that fall into this category, the author does a great job of making this one stand out. Louvette is such a good character and we are along for the ride as she finds out more about herself. Most teenagers feel like she does at this age and I could easily remember those times while I read. The cast of secondary characters is also really great. Her mother did the best she could, but you can see the love there. Her friends are also enjoyable and I hope to see more of them too. Then there is the story itself. It’s not just a girl finding her way in this newly discovered world. There are more sinister things afoot, making the story all the more endearing.

If you are a fan of YA Paranormal books, I recommend this story to you. I cannot wait to read the next book.

If I’m being completely honest, I was drawn to this book initially because of the gorgeous cover. Shortly after, curiosity took over. I’m still fairly new to the world of shape shifting and werewolves and wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. Winter’s Wolf was a great young adult read with action, danger and suspense and it kept me interested from the first to last page and everything in between. I look forward to reading more from Lou Grimes, especially the Cursed Book series.

Winter’s Wolf (The Cursed Series Book 1) by Lou Grimes
4 Stars

Louvette has lived almost all over the southern US states. It seems her and her mother were always running. It didn’t help that she was always kicked out of school for fighting. After her recent expulsion, her mother was at her wits end. A knock on their door would change the course of her life. Louvette had never met her father yet she inherited everything when her grandfather passed away. Her mother wasn’t happy but without any other options, signed the papers. Louvette thought of it as a new opportunity to start somewhere new. The little town in Montana was quaint but had its secrets. Louvette quickly realized that she was different and that danger lurked around every corner.

This was an amazing debut novel and a great start to what I believe will be a fantastic series. Between these pages you will find action, danger and romance. The story will keep you glued from beginning to end. The characters are likeable and relatable. I can’t wait to read part two.

Blind Magic (The Sanctuary Chronicles #2)Blind Magic by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is top notch! The author writes with a vividness that makes this hard to put down! It is filled with action, suspense and characters you can stand behind. The characters are lively and full of zest. Ian and Sera are great and full of depth. It was nice to watch them change and become more then possibly lose it all again. They drew me in and I couldn’t get to that last page fast enough. Just to find out what happens.
The secondary characters are fun! I really like Finn and Violet. They really have some great banter and I can’t wait for their story! All of the secondary characters are wonderful. They are full and give enough to make the reader wonder about them.
The author just surprises me at every turn. I did not read book 1 and I was hesitant to read this because I don’t believe in crossing species and witches aren’t my favorite characters. But I am so HAPPY I gave this one a shot! I might even go back and read book 1. But I am really looking for Finn’s story.

How will the family handle themselves? I hope you enjoy this story as much as I have.

I enjoyed this Young Adult (YA) paranormal story by Lou Grimes. Louvette Blackwood and her Mum have moved around a lot and Louvette is seen as a bit of a trouble maker and has been thrown out of many schools. She never knew her father or even his name, until a lawyer turns up to execute her grandfather’s will. Louvette discovers that her grandfather was murdered whilst searching for her father, and Louvette is the sole heir to the Blackwood estate and fortune. Having signed the will Louvette and her mother head to Montana for a fresh start. This decision starts an eventful year for Louvette with a new place to explore, new friends, a possible romance, and new enemies. She is also determined to find out the truth about her father, and then there’s the wolf’s!

Winter’s Wolf was a really enjoyable paranormal story – although I have read a few stories from this genre it is not one of my go to books but I saw the cover which I loved and the blurb really intrigued me so I thought I would give it a ago and I really enjoyed it! The writing was easy to read, the story line was good and I really liked the characters. The author did a great job with world building and her creative writing style really came through. I liked that the story wasn’t quite what I was expecting either – it was a really refreshing read! Louvette was a really interesting character to read about – I really liked her.

Heart of Malice (Alice Worth, #1)Heart of Malice by Lisa Edmonds
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Heart of Malice by Lisa Edmonds a four-star read with heart. This is the first novel in the Alice Worth series and shows great promise for the series, this has some very well done world building as it encompasses a variety of different characters and they each have their own personal quirks, that make them so much more. Alice the main character is nicely done, she is hiding from a scary past, but while hiding she is also trying to atone for things that were beyond her control, as we all know guilt doesn’t always follow the correct rules. Alice was believable as a private investigator, she had a real awareness to her, I am hopeful for the rest of this series as we have met some great characters that I am sure we will only fall harder in love with the more we get to know them.

This story grabbed me from the beginning and kept me intrigued throughout the entire read. This book is full of action, suspense, mystery and more. Given the circumstances Louvette handled the information well when she found out she was a lupine and had no idea until now. She has more questions than answers about her father and grandfather. There are other wonderful characters in this book that make this story that much better. I found myself turning pages while on the edge of my seat wanting to know what was going to happen next.
