Lost Soul (War of Destiny Book 1) by Theresa Van Spankeren – Review by Rebeca Elliott Figueiras

Lost Soul (War of Destiny # 1)Lost Soul by Theresa Van Spankeren
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was much better than I imagined it would be. I absolutely loved the plot, it was historical whilst also being paranormal – 2 of my favourite genres rolled into one!

The characters were well-written, especially Julia. It starts so young with Julia being 15 when we begin to experience her struggles and grief with her as the story progresses. But we also get to see her strength and the start of her development.

The story is unique, and the plot is put together well. The author’s written was easy to follow and I moved straight onto the next book as I couldn’t wait to continue Julia’s story.

Soul Redeemed (War of Destiny Book 5) by Theresa Van Spankeren – Review by Santana Hicks

Soul Redeemed (War of Destiny #5)Soul Redeemed by Theresa Van Spankeren
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is the fifth book of the ‘War of Destiny’ series. Julia is still struggling with control of her powers of speaking to the dead. For years she thought she was crazy, now that they are catching on that her past actions have to do with her powers, they are trying to teach her more control while getting ready to convince the council that Julia is sane and remorseful of the past.

Julia has no faith in herself but knows that she will have to step up for the sake of her ka-tet. When it came time to convince the others of her powers, she called upon Valerie in hopes that what is said is convincing enough. On top of that, she has a vision that Jonathan is planning to ambush a group. Julia acts quick and makes a plan to change the outcome of the vision. Unfortunately, some believe it was a vision while others believe she is still attached to Valentino and that’s how she knew about them being there.

It’s hard enough to work together when there is so much distrust let alone the possibility of Valentino coming back into the picture.

Although this isn’t my favorite of the series, it was still a great read. The rollercoaster of emotions I have had for Julia throughout the series is crazy. I liked her, then loved her, then hated her and now I am back to liking her. The author did a great job writing the redemption of the ka-tet.

This is the 5th book in the War of Destiny series. This is a great paranormal adventure. I do highly recommend reading these book in order so that you can fully understand everything that has happened to our characters and how they have developed. The author’s character and world building really brings the story to life.
This is a series which is full of intrigue, danger, and twists and turns that keep the reader guessing and wanting more

We are back with Julia as she trys to prove to the Resistance that her gifts are real and hopefully prove her usefulness to them. Julia has been scared my her gifts of hearing and seeing the dead in the past but now she is determined to embrace this gift.
My heart goes out to Julia. She has struggled through so much and continues to do so. But when she is put in a position where she needs to save the villagers and stop her Ka-tet from being destroyed can she learn how to weld her gift in a way to help protect the people she cares about or is she doomed to fail and lose more people in her life.

Soul Redeemed (War of Destiny #5)Soul Redeemed by Theresa Van Spankeren
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Soul Redeemed is the fifth book in the War of Destiny series. I would definitely suggest reading this fantasy series in order, starting with Lost Soul, to follow the story and get to know the characters. The series follows Julia, a vampire who is part of the Resistance against the Vampire King.

In Soul Redeemed, Julia is learning how to use and control her powers to communicate with the dead. She’s done it before, knows she can, but doing it on cue to prove her abilities and help the cause of the Resistance is easier said than done.

There is some great world-building in this series, which combines historical elements with vibrant fantasy. And a wonderful, ever-expanding cast of characters. Julia has a lot of complicated relationships to navigate with the other vampires, with centuries of emotional baggage to consider!

This book gets five stars from me. I’d recommend it to fans of dark fantasy and historical fantasy who love vampires. I can’t wait to read more!

Julia is still honing her skill to reach out to the spirits of passed friends. With her ka-tet, she finds building trust with them all to be daunting. While some are willing to believe that she can speak to the dead, others remain skeptical. As Valentino’s band brings trouble to their area, can she manage to strengthen her abilities to help defeat them, or will she still be the weak link that they fear and cause their destruction?

This series seems to be building to a big face off, and I am looking forward to it. With some many characters in different areas, I found myself hoping they would all gather together in this book. They didn’t, but there are reasons for that which are left to be seen by the reader. I appreciated the author taking the time to describe how Julia works through her trauma, how others encourage her, and how they help her. Definitely looking forward to seeing the outcome and how everyone pulls together to defeat Valentino in the end.

House of Arsceneaux (Servants of Morrigan: Immortal Creatures) by Caterina Novelliere. Such a fun vampire, paranormal, ancient history romance. This is the story of Gage and Caitlin who has been in love for centuries! Caitlin and Gage time travel in this book and its a little hard to keep up with the different versions but I still really enjoyed this book. Caitlin in present day is so very strong and really tough. She works for Sean as an investigator for Corporate takeovers. She is flown to New Orleans to invesigate vampire Evariste aka Gage who is a grouch who prefers fishing to people. She realizes that she is magnetically pulled toward Evariste and can’t figure out why. Evariste realizes that they were married in a previous life. While they are realizing they were meant to be a couple every thing in the World comes to tear them apart. With the help of friends they try to keep their relationship intact but with all the outside forces it difficult. This is a medium spicy paranormal romance that will keep you flipping pages late in the night. Pay attention to names because they do change throughout the story.

Soul Redeemed (War of Destiny #5)Soul Redeemed by Theresa Van Spankeren
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Soul Redeemed is the fifth book in the War of Destiny by Theresa Van Spankeren. This story finds Julia trying to learn how to control her powers so that she can prove to the resistance that she has rare gifts. When her plans are derailed by King Valentino she has to figure out how to learn enough control on her own to unify the resistance and save the villages that Valentino is holding hostage. I really enjoyed this story. I found the story to be confusing at first because I had not read the first books. When I went back and read the books in order, I understood everything much better and found great enjoyment in the book and series. The continued world-building even this far into the series is wonderful. It is very easy to get immersed in the story.

Julia is very determined to control her powers. She has to rely on her ka-tet to learn her powers. This story is very tense because she is also faced with trying to do all of this while worrying about her ka-tet being destroyed and learning fast enough to save the villagers. There is a great amount of action to keep you hooked. There is tons of magic and fun to be had. This has become one of my favorite fantasy stories.

The story is well written, if a bit confusing at times, and the characters were fantastic. Even with the paranormal element of vampires, Fae etc. the characters were realistic, lovable, and relatable. Overall, this paranormal romance was a fairly fast- paced read that is truly enjoyable from start to finish. I cannot wait to read more from Caterina Novelliere.

This is a fast paced paranormal romance. The author clearly did her historical research on Creole, Celtic, and American history. If you struggle with foreign languages you may find a little difficulty with the creole sprinkled in the book but other than that it’s wonderful. How does the love of your life, who’s been dead for more than a minute, show up after all this time as a lawyer? Star crossed lovers will always find one another! I enjoyed this paranormal romance with some twists, turns, spicy connection, secrets, drama and deceit… covens and magic! This author never hesitate to pick up anything she writes and I definitely recommend this book.

What happens when there is a connection between two people from two different covens…knowing that they only wants one thing from each other….this is Rose and Titan. Rose is part of the Wolfbane Coven and Titan is prince of the Dutchmen coven…technically enemies as there is a curse at each coven and they feel like the opposite coven is responsible of that curse. When Titan’s mother has a ball gathering at their castle, she wants Titan to pick his future wife, they need a heir. Rose is there vying to get closer to Titan…but only to get back the moonstone to lift their curse. Will both Rose and Titan get what they want and lift their home covens curse?

I loved the characters in this story…Rose is a great heroine and I loved her strength…and Titan grew on me, at first he was a bit standoffish and cold. I loved the spice between Rose and Titan.

Rose is also hoping they match so that she can bring the moonstone back to her people. Will Rose manage to help her coven? I liked the book although it was somewhat slow moving in the beginning. Twisted BondTwisted Bond by Danielle Jacks
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It all started with a ball, a ball where hand picked and eligible young women have been invited to be appraised for their suitability to become the wife of the Prince of the Dutchmen Coven, but Prince Titan doesn’t want a wife, but he knows that time is running out and he has to, so he watches his mother, the Queen question the young women in front of the crowd. Rose Wolfbane is one of the women, but she isn’t there to marry Titan, she is there for her coven, the Wolfbane Coven who have been cursed by a coven of witches so that they are ruled by the phases of the moon and only one thing can break it and that thing lies somewhere in the Palace she is standing in.

As Titan observes each girl, he sees nothing and nobody who particularly stands out, that is until the last girl, as soon as he meets her eyes, he knows that she is more than she seems and invokes feelings which he never thought he would have, but also ones which complicate his mothers plans to marry him off because she is the absolutely least suitable for the role. As Rose takes her turn under the scrutiny of the Queen and Titan, she is more forthright and slightly more truthful than her cover story allowed, but she knows that if she stuck to just that, she would be found out far too quickly and she knows all too well what that would mean to herself and her coven, so when the royals decide to leave the ball early, she takes the opportunity to start her real mission and try to forget how handsome Titan really is.

As the days pass and Rose is no closer to finding out where her target object is, she is also trying not to step on the toes of the other ladies, but that is not easy when Titan seems to be singling her out and giving her the attention instead of the real contenders, meanwhile Titan is trying to figure out a way to get some time alone with Rose, but she is making it difficult for him when she appears and disappears all the time, but he is determined to figure her out and soon. In between finding favour with his female suitors, Titan is also trying to spend time with his father as he grows progressively weaker as the magic attachment to their kingdom slowly kills him, he just hopes that his father can hold on long enough for him to conceive an heir before he passes on.

Will Rose be able to find what she is looking for, or will Titan figure her out and use this to his advantage and what about the darkness within the other which both attracts and repels them all at the same time, will this become a problem which neither of them foresaw or expected? This is a romantic suspense with plenty of magic, intrigue and missions throughout which will keep you on your toes throughout and hooked until the end.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Between Darkness and Light is the third book in the War of Destiny series. Some old and new faces merge five years after Julia’s betrayal to Ka-tet as she tries to regain trust and repair old friendships. In desperation, Julia left Ka-tet and everyone she loved and trusted, to join Valentino, the Vampire King. Everything is in disarray and tensions are high with everyone believing Julia has lost her mind. Julia is also worried and stressed, not only about the failing friendships, but also fearful that the visions and whisperings will once again return. Maybe she IS losing her mind, after all of the traumas and experiences she has endured… Everyone is on edge, and Julia once again tries to approach their leader, finding that he has left. As an only resort, she seeks out Matthew, who is less than thrilled that she has come knocking. The pair soon realize that the leader is not where he normally would be and become concerned. It doesn’t take long to figure out Julia can track him down and Matthew hesitantly agrees to help. Before long, the visions return and Matthew is skeptical. Eventually they realize this is more than they anticipated, something dark is at play, and the course of destiny may very well be changing. Being forced to work together with the person he now despises the most, will Matthew come around? Will he let Julia explain her reasons, and will Julia make it to Samuel in time? I definitely recommend this series, it continues to grow and get more intense as time progresses! I rated the previous two books 4/5 but will give this a 5/5 since the characters continue to develop and the story grows on you. Definitely not sorry that I picked this series up!

Twisted Bond is your typical enemies to lovers romance novella, with a dded twist of magic.
Rose is trying to get her coven’s magic back from the coven that stole it and cursed them.
Titan is the prince of the enemy coven but isn’t quite sure whether or not he wants to take over from his father. He finds himself enchanted with Rose and doesn’t know why. This novella moves very quickly, so if you are looking for something fast paced with a little smut and very little world building, this is for you. For me, I enjoy thorough world building and a solid establishment of the magic system, so the pace of this left me wanting a little more. There were some plot holes, but the interaction between the characters makes up for it in the end.
