The Cruiser (The Hustlers Trilogy, #1)The Cruiser by Rowan Rossler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book right here is a must read for every romance lover out there, regardless of what you prefer. Not only does the author pack in a lot of steamy scenes but this book is action packed from page 1 to the very end. It took a while just to catch my breath after this one, it is a keeper for sure and one of those books I will read over and over again.

Morgan, the sexy as sin yacht designer on the advice of his most trusted friend hires a PR firm to maintain his image in a bidding war for the Saudi Princes yachts that he wants built. Unfortunately, he doesn’t realize just what he’s getting by using Vandana Hillman’s PR firm. After all, Vandana’s life has been on the fritz lately, and Morgan isn’t one to settle down as he has already left a streak of broken hearts behind him. In order to effectively manage the PR for Morgan, Vandana needs to fly to Monaco to be where her client is and in the center of the action. It’s only for ten days, how much can go wrong even with the world’s sexiest bachelor? Can Vandana keep her head on straight when her emotions and heart is in a mess? Is this the job she’ll regret for the rest of her life?

This book is a must read for anyone that likes steamy romance with a boatload of action(pun intended). If I could give more than five stars I definitely would for this one.

A Veil of Gods and Kings (Apollo Ascending Book 1) by Nicole Bailey – Review by Vanessa Watts

A Veil of Gods and Kings (Apollo Ascending, #1)A Veil of Gods and Kings by Nicole Bailey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love all books about the Greek Gods and this was definitely a new one for me! This is an enemy to lovers’ romance that will leave you on the edge of your seat. This book had me pulling for the characters at some points while screaming at them when they acted irrationally at others.

Apollo, half deity and half mortal, is torn by the forced ascension Zeus wants to be God of the sun and his mortal life with his half sister! After a veiled threat and ultimatum, Apollo is sent to spend a year with Prince Hyacinth, who is the apple of his father’s eye and seems to never put a toe out of line. Unfortunately Apollo cannot stand Hyacinth but complies to protect his mortal sister. As the year goes on and they spend more time together each realizes that the other is not at all like they thought from past experiences. What happens when the feelings become too much with a time clock that is not in their favor?

As you read more secrets are unraveled and things aren’t as they seem for Apollo or Hyacinth and his kingdom. This is a book that shows how first impressions impact the way we see others and that past experiences impact how you act thus impacting others perceptions of you! If you like romance, with secrets and a little mythology thrown in then you should definitely give this book a try. You will not be disappointed!

Thus is a truly interesting story. It has a little bit of everything to capture your attention and the author has created a well written and exciting story. The characters seem to take on a life of their own. They fit so well with the style of the story and everything just seems to work. This feels like it is going to be an interesting world that is being created and I am looking forward to seeing how it all develops in the books to come.

The-Know-It-All-Pencil (Invisible Magic Wand Series) by Lois Wickstrom – Review By Janel Bernotas

This is such a great children’s book! Every year on his “Unbirthday”, Caspian receives a gift from his grandfather. This time it was a magic pencil that wrote words on the notepad by itself. The words confused Caspian until he realized they were things that other people around him needed or needed his help with. A wonderful story about helping others in need with a little bit of science information thrown in too! The-Know-It-All-Pencil is beautifully illustrated. The artwork is vivid, and descriptive of what is happening in the story. All in all, this is a good book for children to read, and I would love to read more of this series. I absolutely recommend this book to other parents to both read for themselves and read with their children!

The Last Cabin Girl (Detective Josie Thompson Series) by Tom Swyers – Review by Dr. Anya Schultz

The Last Cabin Girl: A totally gripping thriller full of twistsThe Last Cabin Girl: A totally gripping thriller full of twists by Tom Swyers
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Last Cabin Girl is a suspenseful, twisty thriller that starts a couple months before the COVID pandemic takes place. The main character, Josie, lives in a small town in New York State. Josie is a waitress, and a prospective nursing student who is trying to divorce her abusive husband. Her husband is the town doctor who is also known to be a drug dealer and do shady business. The story starts at the beginning of the pandemic and you see Josie seem very paranoid about many things in her life, the pandemic, her husband, and the secrets that surround her family. She lives in her family’s cabin that is very isolated, but also holds certain memories of her past. She had witnessed a dead body in the river the cabin lives along, but no one believed her. She finds herself in trouble when her husband and many of her husband’s associates go missing or are found dead. Did Josie have anything to do with this? Is her family secrets part of the problem?

This book had a slow start in my eyes. Reliving the first handful of months of the pandemic in this book didn’t give me the motivation to just fly through the pages and chapters. However, once you started to be given little aspects of how many secrets were floating around this town, it started to pique my interest. By half way through the book, I wanted to know the secrets and where this was all going. Well, I was not disappointed. The twists and turns of this book had me saying OMG. I had so many aspects in mind about what could be happening, some of them I figured out, but was pleasantly surprised that I would never have come up with some of the other ones presented. Worth the read if you like mysteries.

Targeting Dart is the fourth book in the Satans Devils MC Series by Manda Mellett. We follow two perspectives Dart, a hard nut to crack and Alex who cannot see how beautiful she truly is. Dart is happy in his position in the MC with no ties or connections he can do what he wants. Alex is a single mum in desperate need of money for her son. In my opinion, this can be read as a stand-alone although there are some points made about other characters in the book that could spoil previous books. The book is well written with a well-developed world and fantastic character development. Its full of twists and turns, I felt like I was going to get whip lash! this heart jerking and hard hitting book will sure hit you in all of the feels.

The Fighter (An Underground Bad Boys Romance, #3)The Fighter by India Kells
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a new author to me, and I can say I will certainly be reading more by her.
The book follows best friends Ten and Juliet who support each other through the struggles of everyday life, as they navigate working and studying. Their relationship is put under stress when they enter the world of underground fighting, they find they have been evicted from their apartment; enter Gage who unwittingly becomes involved in their lives, offering them somewhere to stay and then mentoring Ten for a further fight, hoping to remove both Ten and Juliet from the sights of the local fight club boss.
Stepping up and doing the right thing has started a snowball effect of changes for Gage, he finds that he becomes further involved with both of his new housemates in more ways than one.
The author manages to pull you along this emotional ride of a story involving MF, MM and MFM interaction. It’s a steamy at times read that also has heart stopping moments of angst when the darker side of the storytelling takes over. Strong Alpha males, strong women, undercover cops and gangsters all thread together really well to a slightly surprising HEA.
This is the third book in the series, so I am going to have to back track and ready 1 and 2 soon.

This Night Has Ended (Vampire State Book 5) by Alexander Charalambides – Review by Amy Brennan

This Night Has EndedThis Night Has Ended by Alexander Charalambides
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Whoa! Although this author’s ability to have his words jump off the page so that you feel that you are living and breathing this crazy ride through Sanguinia, I would adore a cinematic version of this tale. The descriptiveness, the world in which they reside, and not to mention the tension that is built throughout this epic finale, is nothing to scoff at. I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into, as I hadn’t read the series when I picked this novel up, but I did read the first installment to get a feel for the author’s writing and the characters, and was blown away. Even having missed a lot between the first and fifth novels, I couldn’t put it down, and will certainly be reading the remainder of the series so that I can be fully immersed in the struggles that Rowena, Vincenzo, Luka, and all the supporting characters. I very much look forward to connecting more with Rowena, along with the others, and experiencing her ups and downs throughout the series very soon.

I, as I’m sure is the case with many readers, always figure that things will be end amicably between vampires and humans within the written world adventures that we choose to embark on, but that’s only because we’ve been led to believe as much. This author has taken that idea away completely and allowed for us to see the struggles between different species, so to speak, and wove an intricate tale that hasn’t been done before. This was a whirlwind read, that will make you dizzy by the end, but so worth it. I can’t wait to read and review the rest of his novels and will recommend to others for sure!

I am not sure what I was thinking when I choose this book, but it was totally different than I expected. I do have to say that even though this book isn’t one that I would typically read, I enjoyed it. It took me a minute to get into the book, but once I did, I couldn’t put it down. It was a different read for me, but at the same time, I found myself wrapped up in the story. I was questioning the motives of everyone in the book. I definitely think this book is worth anyone’s time to read.

A Veil of Gods and Kings (Apollo Ascending Book 1) by Nicole Bailey – Review by Moriah Venable

A Veil of Gods and Kings (Apollo Ascending, #1)A Veil of Gods and Kings by Nicole Bailey
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I went into this just wanting something different to read. I love Greek Mythology but the last series I read was Percy Jackson, so I went into looking for a fun read.

Apollo is half mortal, when his father gives him the ultimatum to either ascend immediately or spend the next year mentoring Prince Hyacinth.

The two start out as enemies but that could change over time. This is a dual POV novel. Sometimes that works for me, where it enhances the story and other times it can feel repetitive. Thankfully this was not the case with this novel.

Greek Mythology tends to have some tragic elements which I have a feeling this will be. I do want to read the myth that this story is based on.

I am looking forward to reading the next novel in the series.

A Veil of Gods and Kings (Apollo Ascending Book 1) by Nicole Bailey – Review by Alexandria Richard

A Veil of Gods and Kings (Apollo Ascending, #1)A Veil of Gods and Kings by Nicole Bailey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A fun retelling on Apollo from Greek Mythology. A bit of enemies to lovers, beat the bad guys, coming of age, New Adult story.

Overall, I loved this book, with its jaded MMC, the guy with the weight of the world on his shoulders, a M/M relationship, and of course the strong feminists who wouldn’t be cast into the societal roles.

This novel is told from three different perspectives, Apollo, Hyacinth, and Epiphany (This makes me thing Epiphany will have a larger role going forward). Luckily, even with the narrator switches I didn’t feel like I lost out on information between chapters, which is hard to do.

I enjoyed the enemies to lovers aspect which occurred between Apollo and Prince Hyacinth. Apollo doesn’t like being told what to do and wants to protect anyone who might incur the wrath of his father, Zeus. Hyacinth has been put in charge of the kingdom while his father is away and suddenly is also told to “mentor” Apollo in what makes a good follower and leader (re: future god). I thought the tension between the two in the beginning was very well done and realistic, and I enjoyed seeing each of them start to understand the other about more and opening themself up.

I absolutely adored Temi and her strength. Love me a strong female who can kick a guy’s butt and take names. Also, her knife throwing is so good. She’s a big influence on Epiphany coming into herself as well.

Can’t wait to read more of this series!

A Veil of Gods and Kings (Apollo Ascending Book 1) by Nicole Bailey – Review by Santana Hicks

A Veil of Gods and Kings (Apollo Ascending, #1)A Veil of Gods and Kings by Nicole Bailey
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I decided to read this book because I love Greek Mythology. It is a retelling of the story of Apollo and his lover Hyacinth. It starts off with Apollo living on Earth with his mortal sister named Temi, not wanting to ascend to Olympus.

Apollo’s father, Zeus, wants him to ascend now that he is older and to force his hand, gives him a choice. Ascend now, or mentor under Prince Hyacinth. Zeus gives him a year to live on Earth as a human but has to spend the whole year in Nirnia under the mentorship of Hyacinth

Things are tense between Apollo and Hyacinth. They dislike each other but there is a will they/won’t they tension throughout most of their interactions.

I enjoyed how the author wrote from different points of view, including some of the more minor characters of the book.

I honestly don’t know why this book has gotten a lot of low ratings on goodreads. A lot of other reviewers are rating her writing based on Greek Mythology itself when the author herself in the beginning of the book wrote that it was a retelling in her own spin of things. For what it is, it’s very well written.

The only downfall is the romance factor. I was expecting more romance between the two men especially since they had some sexual tension going on.

A Veil of Gods and Kings: Apollo Ascending Book 1 by Nicole Bailey – Review by Roxsanne Lesieur.

A Veil of Gods and Kings (Apollo Ascending, #1)A Veil of Gods and Kings by Nicole Bailey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Apollo is half mortal and half deity, but the one thing he doesn’t wan to do is ascend and become a full deity and not just that, he would be the god of the sun, but he would rather spend time with mortals and avoid becoming anything like his father or siblings, but that isn’t what fate has in store for him. As he battles fate and his family, he spends time with his sister, or hiding his godlike nature in the local establishments drinking until he forgets his past and use the hangover as an excuse to avoid the responsibilities of his daily life.

All that changes when he is summoned before his father, so he dutifully travels to Olympus to find out what the almighty god wants this time, however, the last thing he expects is an ultimatum and the choice he has to make is whether to immediately ascend, or whether to spend a year with Prince Hyacinth of Niria being mentored and taught how to be the opposite of what he is now, a disappointment. Neither of the choices is brilliant for Apollo, but in the end, he plumbs for another year with the mortals, even if it means he has to spend time with Hyacinth, whom from past engagements, Apollo really doesn’t get on with. Meanwhile, Prince Hyacinth receives word that he is to have Apollo as a guest in his kingdom for the next year, that it is another chore on his current list is as annoying to him as it is to Apollo, but for different reasons.

From the first day, Apollo and Hyacinth cannot get on, the both think the other is obnoxious, annoying and arrogant and that they have no idea how this year is not going to drive them crazy, but as the weeks pass, things change and what was once frustration and annoyance, turns into something else, something more heated and personal. They find that as much as they try to deny it, there is a spark there, a spark which they both try and fight in order to save those they love, but will they succeed, or will the spark ignite into a fire neither of them can control? This is a fantasy retelling filled with intrigue, romance and gods, where complications are around every corner and pressure combines with duty to create situations with outcomes which are anything but sure as this story brings you into a mythological world and keeps you there as the story plays out on the pages in front of you.

This is a different retelling of the story of Apollo and Hyacinth. I found it interesting, to say the least. The story is intriguing and very engaging if you are into Greek myths. Apollo, Temi, and the rest of the Gods are so full of personality that you are waiting for lightning bolts to fly (from Zeus). There are some choppy spots but it does all come together. I did enjoy the plot twists thrown into the story because you had no clue they were coming. It is a story written for the young adults but all ages may enjoy this. I recommend it.

This book was amazing in in every which way! In my honesty, that is an understatement . The author wrote a story that not only captivated me, but wrote a story that flowed ever so nicely, as well as there were no gaps in the writing, everything made sense, and the words fit perfectly with every scene!

I loved the compelling intrigue that this book gave to me as I read. It was as if a essence of its own nature surrounded me as I read through. Maybe eerie in its own way. It was as if at times I knew something unexpected or eye opening could end up happening. The fantasy aspect of this book was not only appealing, but beautiful and mysterious in its own way. Let me not forget to add in the action that mixed with the characters in the world they resided in was beyond amazing. I loved this book so much. Also enjoyed reading and watching Elodie and Sebastian start off as the characters they were, and become by the end the characters that they became! Wonderful character growth! Loved that and this book!

Again, amazing book that truly sucks you in and holds you close to the point where you can feel its own heart beat. Wonderful writing by a truly talented author, and the story line was spot on in truth. It was a wonderful read that exceeded my expectations! Highly recommend this must read book/author!

Apollo comes across as arrogant at first but as he begins to fall in love he changes for the better and becomes this amazing god that you can’t help but love. The two start out at each other’s throats but that changes as they spend more time together and truly get to know each other. They face so many challenges along the way because they truly come from two different worlds. There’s action, romance, adventure, and incredible mythology all wrapped up in one book. This is the first book in the series and a great start to this dark, paranormal Vampire romance, is right up my ally. I love a great paranormal tale.

AD has done a good job of showing us what really lurks in the dark. The story stared out a bit slow but the story line is well-developed the world-building was very well done, the characters that are interesting and the mystery and mythology of the tale drew me in. Sacrifice and fear, demon’s and curses, love and darkness, mystery illnesses, dark dreams and you have a compelling story that any paranormal lover will love.

Greer doesn’t know if it is night or day, what is real and what is dreams, of a dark knight that could be her saviour or worst enemy. She suddenly finds herself in the same boat as the others. They have been torn away from their lives which have been turned upside down with fear and the darkness of becoming one of the Casket girls.

The history of the Casket Girls of New Orleans is legendary. The tales of vampires and ghosts, mysterious and illicit goings on and much more has been brought to life by AD in this dark paranormal tale.

The Wolf’s Shadow (The Lycanthropy Files Book 1) by Cecilia Dominic – Review by

The Wolf's Shadow (The Lycanthropy Files #1)The Wolf’s Shadow by Cecilia Dominic
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I first want to say this book had me intrigued from the get-go. It was a new take on the werewolf that I found as interesting I went and started reading the others because I just had to know. Now that cover is amazing. I loved how it depicted Joanie because that is exactly how I had her pictured in my mind. I would have liked to know the main characters more in depth but overall, the writing was good. It kept my interest through out the whole book.

Joanie is a scientist; she is an epidemiologist to be exact. In case you are wondering an epidemiologist is the studies of medicine that deals with incidence, distribution, and control of diseases. She absolutely loves what she does till her entire world is turned upside and she does not know what to do next. And by her life I mean it went up in smoke starting with the fire in her lab, then her boyfriend dumbs her, see just a catalyst of sad news. It was like fate stepped in when she finds out her grandfather left her his whole estate, but the mystery starts with no one knowing how her grandfather died. With the help of her best friend Lonna, they start the adventure that would forever change their lives. As soon as she gets to Wolfsbane manor, (killer name, right??) she is thrown into the world that should not exist but needs her help non the less. With the help of her grandfather’s money, she can finish or start up her research again.

  1.  Lonna let us say for being a secondary character I just wanted to shake her a lot. I feel like she caused a lot of the problems that arose but then again when you have the good and the bad sides feuding your feelings and your actions get out of control. I do have to say even though this book was more of a mystery and less on the romance side which is not my usual type I loved what little romance was in this book. It led up the moment that would change the life of the main character and it is made for an amazing story. I will say I do hope there is a Tish more in the next book. All the twists and turns had me pleasantly surprised and wanted to finish the book. The new take on werewolves had me so enthralled that I wonder where the author goes the idea. Her word building was so perfect that when a twist happens you never expected it. Her character development I felt could use a bit more work. Even though you read tidbits about Joanie’s past you cannot help but wonder about the other characters. At least I did. Overall, she is a new author for me, but I can honestly, she has a new fan for life.View all my reviews

The Wish-EaterThe Wish-Eater by Claire Luana
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Wish-Eater is a fantasy fairy tale romance with messages hidden within. Claire has created a unique world that is not always light hearted. It is a world of pain and suffering for Elodie as she yearns for a better life and finding a mythical, wish-granting creature she has only heard rumours about. It is also a story about hope and heart’s desires but beware because just like a genie in a bottle not every wish may turn out how you expect it. The cast of many characters are a mixture of funny, crazy and loveable, quirky and grumpy, and some you will love and some you will not.

Does such a create exist? Where does one even start to look for one such creature? Will Elodie learn is that the true power for change is within her?

Unabridged (Lovestruck Series Book 2) by Melinda De Ross – Review by Elizabeth Sanchez

Unabridged (Smart & Sassy in the City, #2)Unabridged by Melinda De Ross
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Unabridged is a cute Romance story, about seconds chances. I really loved both of the main characters. The supporting characters are well developed too. I love the friendship between Angelina and her work BFF. The story was a good balance of sweet, funny and thrill.
I was a little sad about the gap between the ending of the actual book and the epilogue. I felt like the ending was left hanging… the next book in the series doesn’t seem like it continues but I hope it does at least a little bit.
