The Wandering Isles is a novella that follows the Crown of Stones trilogy. Even though you can read this story as a standalone, I highly recommend reading The Crown of Stones books. They are amazing!

As with The Crown of Stones, The Wandering Isles is expertly written. I was sucked into the story within the first paragraph and felt like I was living in the book with the characters. The world building in all of the books I’ve read by this author is excellent, and this book is no exception. I can see it like a movie in my mind as I read.

You really get to know the characters on a deeper level in this book as it’s a novella focused on a specific event. Even though it’s a shorter story, you don’t feel like you are missing anything.

I thoroughly enjoyed this dark fantasy adventure!

After Ian Troy sacrificed everything for peace, he decided to leave Mirra’ kelan with his one friend Jarryd Kane. They became explorers of the high seas, travelling wherever the wind blew. Deciding to explore the old routes of his ancestors, he tried to find the Wandering Isles. Unfortunately, some things shouldn’t be found. They were forced into a trade that pushed the boundaries of their sanity.

This is a complex story that plays on the darker side. It is about two people who have lived through hell and having to face their nightmares to overcome their fears. Sometimes it is the “what if’s” that are worse. What can come out of the recesses of your mind are sometimes worse than reality. The story is well written though I did find it somewhat redundant the constant switch between nightmare and reality. There is a twist near the end which can lead into many more wonderful stories in this series.

I have been really fortunate to have read a few books by this author now, I absolutely love her work. Her writing is a true pleasure to read and I find that it never takes me long to read one her wonderfully detailed stories. I really enjoyed the first book in this series so I couldn’t wait for this one and it didn’t disappoint. Again I was transported into a science fiction type mythology world. I really liked the characters Tasha and Josh – they were likeable and I liked the connection that they had with each other. They had a nice chemistry between them that felt genuine. As I’ve come to expect from this author the story was richly detailed and I could easily imagine what I was reading.

As always I 100% recommend this author – her writing is fantastic and In the Arms of Morpheus was no exception.

So you would think after 11 books in this series I would be getting fed up but I am not – not one bit! I absolutely LOVE this series, the authors beautiful writing is a huge part of that. I just adore the characters she creates; they are so wonderful to read about. Each story in this series is completely different even though they are based around the same thing. I just loved Elizabeth and Zack! Right from the beginning I just knew that this story would pull at my heartstrings – and it did. For me the author did an amazing job with Kyle’s character (Beth’s son) I think it’s easy for author’s to be stereotypical when writing about disabilities or mental health for example but this author never does. Zach’s character was not what I was expecting but I loved him so much and could really feel how he was feeling at times.
Yet again Ms Ferguson has written another wonderful story and I 100% recommend it as I do with all of her amazing work!

The Frontman is a murder mystery/thriller by Laurence Parlier. This is the first book I have read by this author, but definitely not my last. This book grabbed my attention from the very first page and I couldn’t put it down until I read the last. I enjoyed the plotline and the characters are relatable and engaging. The twists and turns in this story had my head spinning. I would think I knew what was going to happen next, but no….. things changed. I highly recommend this book and author. I look forward to reading more from books from Mr. Laurence.

Harry is a bartender and she is a woman whom is engaged to a guy who definitely don’t deserve her. These two have an attraction towards the other. Harry is a player who is trying to change. When I stumbled across Virtually Gone, I was really intrigued. Not only did the synopsis set the premise of a good story, I was drawn by the fact that this series is comprised of various authors and their contributions. This review is difficult for me as I feel my opinions are contradictory. I will start by saying I really liked the book overall. It was about 150 pages so it proved to be a really fast read. While it had my attention from the beginning, it was simultaneously hard for me to get into the storyline because for whatever reason, I had a hard time initially keeping the main characters straight. I did like the chemistry between characters, however.
I thought the story flowed well and it was different subject matter than I find myself gravitating toward regularly. I am interested in exploring Jacquie Biggar’s writing more in the future as this was my first experience with this author.

Virtually Gone by Jacquie Biggar is the sixth book in the High-Tech Crime Solvers series and it was a great read! I could hardly put this book down once I started reading it. It was thrilling, and definitely crime filled! I was filled suspense almost the whole time I was reading this! This is first novel in this series I’ve read, and while it is the sixth installment, I didn’t feel like I absolutely had to read the other for this to make sense. It would have definitely helped if I read the other installments, but this book could absolutely be read as a stand-alone and you wouldn’t be thrown off. Another novel from this author that I loved!

I have really been enjoying the Scope of Practice books so far by Jessica Aiken-Hall. She is really good at weaving a detailed and gripping thriller that will keep you fully engrossed from the get-go until the very last page. Confidentiality is the second book in the series and I would recommend that you read the first one before diving into this one. We get a lot of background and character building in that one that carries over and enriches this story very well.

In Confidentiality we find Valarie feeling like she finally has things in order and is living a life she enjoys, although not the one she had anticipated for herself. Things take an even darker and twistier turn when a serial killer is among them. The murders seem to have some coincidental aspects but is it just that at a coincidence? I loved the different layers that are laid out for us as we read. It is not just one steady storyline and things are so well put together that it feels flawless and effortless to follow along. I am super excited to see what the next book will entail.

I was pleasantly surprised by the twists and turns that The Frontman took. Reading the blurb, I knew it was about the death of Kerry Vance. Kerry is the lead singer of band going on tour. His death is what you come to expect of those leading the rock star life…drug overdose in a hotel. However, those that really knew Kerry aren’t believing what they are being told. Enter Calliope, a woman from Kerry’s past, to start helping those in Kerry’s life find out what really happened.

There were so many twists in this story. Each person who plays a role in this book has a connection to Kerry…but what happens when paths start crossing and everyone’s little pieces of Kerry’s story begin to reveal the bigger picture. This is a story of loss and love…but also self-discovery and healing. I found myself pulled into the story from the beginning, wanting to know what really happened. I liked some characters while despising others. I was also surprised at the link between people and the roles they played in Kerry’s life. All together, a good story that is definitely worth a read.

The Wandering Isles, A Crown of Stones Novella is the first book in the Crown of Stones Novella Series by C.L Schneider. As with the original Crown of Stones Trilogy, this is a very intriguing action-packed fantasy adventure- with wonderful originality, magic, discoveries, dramatic developments, and superb world building.
This could be read as a standalone, but I think that as this book draws on events and characters which occurred in the original trilogy, that this book would be better enjoyed and appreciated having read the Crown of Stones Trilogy first.
We watched Ian Troy go through so much, at great sacrifice to himself, in the Crown of Stones Trilogy. Now just because the realm doesn’t need him and his magic anymore- doesn’t mean his adventures are over. He just doesn’t realise that just quite yet. But he will. Ian sets sail to do some exploring, and soon finds himself on the shores of the mysterious Wandering Isles. The area seems to be abandoned- but are they really? What happens next makes for an exciting and intriguing read which will see Ian and Jarrod tested again in ways they could have never imagined.
A well-crafted, clever, and creative story that sets this new novella series off to a great start. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Virtually Gone (High-Tech Crime Solvers Book 6) by Jacquie Biggar. I loved the previous books in the series so I had high hopes for this one and I was not disappointed. It can be read as a standalone but I’ve enjoyed reading them all. Its the story of Julie Crenshaw who is an investigative reporter and Matthew Roy who is a detective. Julie has come upon a case that may make or break her career. There is a string of Sexual abuse cases but what Julie doesn’t know its going to throw her right in the rapists path. Matt is ticked off because he can’t solve this case. He is ticked at Connor his partner whose reporter girlfriend seems to always be one step ahead of him. If it weren’t for Connor, Matt would have probably killed or at least locked up Julie. When the rapist resorts to murder the stakes are even higher. Will Matt, Connor and Julie use technology to solve this crime before some else gets hurt or worse murdered. Will Matt and Connor still be partners/friends at the end of this investigation? After seeing many ads for this book, I knew I had to read it. I have always loved stories of archangels, fallen, and demis. I love how fast of a read this book was. It is one of those “just one more page” books that you never put down until you read the last page and are left begging for more from this author. I also loved how feisty the main character is. It makes you giggle at times, mainly the beginning, where the author describes a situation so vividly it’s as if you’re watching a scene instead of reading a story. I highly recommend this book.

Virtually Gone is the sixth book in High-Tech Crime Solvers series where a group of authors have gotten together to write series of techno-thrillers, stories that have a promise of high technology and interlocking cast of characters and where one might just get away with a murder! I had read Jacquie Biggar’s Men of WarHawks series so I expected something spectacular and I was slightly disappointed! I felt that this story was not of the same calibre as the WarHawks series though overall I do not regret that I picked up a copy.
Virtually Gone takes place in Victoria in British Columbia and we meet Julie who is an investigative reporter and Matt’s partner’s Connor’s girlfriend so it makes Matt’s life, who is the lead Detective in this story, a bit dicey! Throw into the mix a serial killer, Matt’s past tragedy and you have a good formula for a great story! It took a bit for the story to really get off the ground but once it did and once I had sorted out the back stories in my head, I could not wait to turn pages and to find out who where and how and I tell you, the technology that they used for the investigations? Mind-blowing!

Virtually Gone: A Mended Souls Novel is the 6th book in the High Tech Crime Solvers series by Jacquie Biggar. There is a serial killer on the loose in Victoria and both the police and the media are desperate to catch him. There is a conflict of interest however as Julie, an ambitious reporter, is in a relationship with Connor, one of the detectives on the case. As the killer starts to escalate the race is on to catch him before he hurts anyone else. This book can be read as a stand alone, as I did, but I think you would make the most of it if you have read the previous novels, as there is some reference to a previous book. However, this is an enjoyable and fast paced mystery with intriguing characters. I think I will go back and start the series from the beginning as I really enjoyed the style of the author.

Blessed: Academy of the Seraph (book 1) by Brandi Elledge.

Honestly one of the best books I’ve read so far this year. This is my first book from Brandi Elledge but will not be my last. I absolutely loved reading this story, I can’t wait for the second in the series.

Gabriella is “touched” or as she likes to put it “infected” she can’t avoid testing any longer but hopes to be able to pass off as normal, only she’s not that lucky. Carted off to the academy against her will Gabriella wants nothing more then to hatch an escape plan, only the commander, a beautiful brooding man keeps foiling her plans. There is so much more to this story but I don’t want to give away any details, read it I promise you will love it.

This novel is part of a multi-author series about ‘high technology and technological crimes’, some of the characters cross over from previous books but, like myself you can read this book as a standalone story. This is a techno thriller which although not my usual choice of genre had me hooked from the start. Julie Crenshaw is an investigative reporter who happens upon a story that could both be the story of a lifetime and put her life at risk. Having investigated a number of sexual abuse cases, Julie ends up on the serial rapists radar herself and has to discover his identity before he strikes again and prevent herself from becoming his next target. Meanwhile, Detective Matthew Roy is in charge of the investigation to find the serial rapist and is getting no where. His investigation in not helped by the fact that his partner’s girlfriend Julie seems to be conducting her own enquiries. When the rapist also becomes a killer both Matt and Julie need to find him and fast but how. This is a fast paced book with a fascinating and thought provoking storyline and interesting characters which kept me gripped from page one. I was fully immersed in the technological crime world created by Biggar thanks to her wonderful narrative and detailed descriptions. I am keen to read the previous books in this series now and other books by Jacquie Biggar.

I enjoyed this contemporary romance by Mya O’Malley, it’s book two in the ‘Sun, Sand & A Ring On My Hand’ collection of standalone novellas. During her friends tropical destination bachelorette party and after a few too many drinks Cassie finds herself talking to the sexy bartender Harry. Listening to Cassie about her fiancé Evan, Harry thinks Evan is a ‘player’ and does not deserve Cassie. Harry had been a bit of a heartbreaker himself in the past and had also had his heart broken but he feels an instant attraction to Cassie. Cassie had been feeling more and more unsure about her relationship with Evan, finding him manipulative and finds the bartender very easy to talk too but is wary of his reputation. With only a week to prove to Cassie that Evan is not the man for her and that he is, Harry has to convince her to act on her own feelings after all love at first sight is to rare to ignore. I loved the characters, Harry and Cassie were both likeable and realistic and their instant attraction came through thanks to the authors wonderful narrative. The storyline had me hooked and moved along at a swift pace which kept me fully immersed in the romance. I was hoping Harry and Cassie would get a happy ever after, no spoilers as I recommend you pick this book up as a great summer read.

Virtually gone, by Jacquie Biggar, is part six of a multi author series. I jumped straight in at book six and don’t feel like you need to have read the other books in the series to enjoy this story.

The story begins with the brutal murder of a 16 year old girl, and from this a whole series of event come in to play. The past intermingles with the present, and the race is on to stop others getting hurt.
The characters in this story all have an important part to play, and they all have different issues that make this case more personal to them than others. You can feel the passion and desperation come through, and I think that knowing what drives people, and where their reasoning comes from really helps you to engage with the characters and enjoy the story even more.
The characters and the plot moves very quickly, and there are a few surprises thrown in, which keeps the story exciting and makes you keep turning the pages.
I would recommend this if you enjoy a thriller with a twist.

The Slaughter of Leith Hall by Lexie Conyngham is a historical crime fiction story that is intriguing and well written. I thought the author did a great job of sticking to the time period it was written, even when it did slow down the story a little. But the story had a mysterious feel to it and the author really threw in some twists and turns to keep it interesting.
This is a new author to me and I was really taken with the overall writing style. The story was built up in such a way that it kept my interest easily. I wanted to find out what was going on and see if the mystery would be solved. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to reading more by this author.

Help Me Harry is the second book in the Sun, Sand, And A Ring On My Hand collection by Mya O’Malley. This book is a romantic novella that had me hooked from the start. The author makes the characters so relatable. You may think this is just your typical girl on vacation and hot bartender story, but there is so much more than that. Cassie isn’t sure her fiance is “the” one for her, and as she spills her guts to the sexy bartender on the first night of her girlfriend’s tropical bachelorette party, the bartender realizes the same thing. Harry knows the player ways of Cassie’s fiance because he is that kind of guy, or is he? Maybe Harry could change for Cassie. This story is about Harry trying to convince Cassie, and in some ways himself, to take a chance on him because she deserves so much better than Evan. This was such a heartwarming book to read that I look forward to reading others in the collection.

Oh goodness, I don’t usually read crime novels, however I really enjoyed this one.

The character development was done really well. The plot was done fantastically, as such I would assume it would be in real life of investigators and journalists, hurry up and wait type situations. Matt was by far my favorite character in this book and Julie, I would like to know more about her backstory and the leading up to this book so I may have to see if she is written in a different book. Also, I am interested in the budding romances that are forming between a few more characters, something to keep my eyes open for with this author.

I didn’t have any trouble reading this book as it is book 6 in this series, it was very well done as a standalone and I would recommend it if you are into crime investigating stories, this one’s for you.

Help Me, Harry is a great quick read romance by Mya O’Malley. I had read some of this author’s work before, having read the Maggie Trilogy and was already a fan. I really enjoyed Help Me, Harry and devoured it in a couple of hours.
Cassie and Harry’s story is a very enjoyable read. I loved both characters. I loved how Cassie is quite introverted and can be a bit of a loner, very much like myself. It was great to read a leading character like this.
Harry is also an adorable character. He’s very sweet and an all-round very lovely guy. He senses immediately that Cassie is not happy with her life, in particular her fiancé, and tries to be a shoulder for her to lean on.
I also enjoyed reading Cassie and Harry’s adventures as they spent time together, visiting different locations and exploring the area.
This may be a short read but the author manages to fit quite a lot of content into the story and it’s a story that keeps the reader engaged and wanting to keep reading to see what happens next.

Help Me Harry by Mya O’Malley is one of those romance books that buries its self into your heart. Its one of those crazy roller coaster rides of emotions. Miss O’Malley has a way of writing characters that are completely relatable and you cannot help but fall in love with them from the start. I loved reading about Cassie and Harry and their hesitations towards relationships due to past hurt and how they overcame personal obstacles to reach their HEA. I love Miss O’Malley’s writing and I cannot wait for more!

This is the second book in The Book Of Eleanor Series. Unfortunately I didnt read the first book and as this book starts where the first book finished i do recommend reading the 1st book before reading this one.

Even though it made it tricky to follow to begin with it didn’t make this book any less enjoyable. It is full of mystery, danger, intrigue and magic as Katie and Colm travel through time. They are sent to protect Colm’s great great grandfather but will their presence make any difference or will their presence change the course of the future.

Its a great read that keeps you hooked from the first to the last page.

Help Me, Harry by Mya O’Malley

I really enjoyed this story. I love this author anyway and knew I had to read this. It was super quick and the flow was easy. Watching these two dance around each other was fun, and although the ending was somewhat predictable it was exactly what it needed to be.

I wasn’t completely crazy about going back in time the few times it did but it did not take away from the complete enjoyment of what was going on in the Keys. I’ll admit I wanted to slap Cassie more than once, but I could also feel the turmoil that was messing with her head.

Harry was a dream, I loved him from the first pretzel and he was my favorite character in this story.

I highly recommend anything by this author, this was a great story, fun to read, fun to imagine being right there with this whole group.

Everything is going for Valerie at last but when there is a serial killer in the mix, can Valerie and Tim find out who it is in time.

Valerie is finally settled and not isolated anymore she has a loving fiance, family and friends and Valerie and Tim are doing well, planning for the up and coming wedding when Tim gets involved in investigating the tragic murders which are happening within Lawerenceville.

As Val gets more involved within her group she can’t lose the feeling that there is a connection with the murders that no one else seems to know or wants to believe, its upto Val to try and uncover who this person is and when you have secrets and lies well hidden can you help.

I loved the first book in this series and I was excited to see the relationship between Tim and Val progress and grow and it was brilliant the banter that these two characters have is a joy to read. I love the way Jessica Aiken-Hall writes about the gritty subjects with the consideration of the victim and showing this side of society. The story flowed and with twists and turn unraveling the brilliant story it was a page turner.

I feel you don’t have to read the first book to follow or appreciate the story but I think it is best if you have as you then have a better insight into the wonderful character of Valerie. I definitely recommend you read this book and get caught up in the thrilling story.

The Traveller: Chimera Revolution is a story full of action and fantasy, with Katie fighting to protect the book will she be able to and get back.

Katie has be propelled back to 1779 Savannah where she has met Colm and with his help they are trying to uncover truths and trying to keep safe the people are helping them but can they survive. Katie is delving into the world of magic to try and protect the book but are there forces against them and can Katie battle against evil.

I have a bit of a disadvantage as I delved straight into this book with out reading the first one and although I caught up with the story I felt I missed some important elements to this story and so I read the first book after this one and caught up to date so too speak.

The characters were brilliant and you could feel the chemistry coming off the page with Katie and Colm, especially with the commitment that both seemed to have. The story was well written and had a bit of an “Outlander” feel which flowed through which making me forget the world around me and was transported into the world with them. The secondary character compliment the story and the main characters and not distract from the story.

I would definitely recommend this series to anyone who loves the fantasy, action packed stories this is certainly one for you.

Calamity under the Chandelier is a crime story based in the 1940’s, what happens when two American Starlets descend on a very “British” Christmas and discover a murder to boot.

Cora and Veronica are making there way to UK to spend time with Veronica’s new in laws which just happen to be the Duke and Duchess. As they try to blend in with the group of people who are there for Christmas the two of them seem to draw attention in whatever they do.

When a chandelier drops from the ceiling and kills no other than the Duke, Veronica is classed as the number one suspect in the matter but the family seem to be just sweeping it under the carpet. Until Cora gets involved and decides to solve the mystery and prove her friends innocence.

This story is the first story I have read by this author and really enjoyed the flow and the twists and turns, it is a great insight into the british elite and was a fascinating read from start to finish. The characters are well developed and complement each other well. I also love the way this was set just after the roaring 20’s/ 30’s were freedom and individuality was just becoming explored.

I can’t wait to read the next installment in this series.
