The Perfect Duchess by Erica Taylor a four-star read that you will dance away with. This is the second novel in the Macalisters series and in my opinion, you can read them in any order, they do build on each other but don’t necessarily need an order. There is lots going on and lots that could drag you down as you read, but the author somehow manages to keep you from getting bogged down in the terrible things that have happened to the characters in the past and just loving the drama and passion of the current along with some amazingly described scenes.

I absolutely adored this story. I’ve been so lucky to read a few books by this author now and I love her writing style, she always manages to sweep me up in her stories and I can never put them down until I have finished. I fell in love with Lucas straight away; he was just such a genuinely lovely person. He had clearly been hurt in the past but the devotion he showed to his daughter was admirable – it was clear just how much she meant to him. I loved that the story was written from Lucas’ point of view it was nice to see the male side for once. It didn’t take me long to fall in love with Kate either – I really, really wanted the two of them to end up together – I thought that they were perfect! Although we didn’t get any POV chapters from Kate we did get the little input from her blog pieces which gave a little insight into her as a person. I thought that this was a really, sweet story with wonderful characters. I 100% recommend it and can’t wait for more from this author again! @katiem

The story Infamy is the second book in the Feisty Lawyers by Seelie Kay. Seelie Kay does it again. The story plot is one that will be wanting more. The first book was kept me sitting at the edge of my seat. Infamy has kept my interest and a fast read. However, if you are not careful the story will take a left turn but had me turning right. I have enjoyed the characters and I feel like they are my family. There were times that I wanted to scream at Harun, Marianne, Cade and Janet as they are getting into trouble and should see that was going to happen. Since this is a shorter story, I do not want to get into too much detail. Make sure you set enough time to be able read it in one sitting.

I do really love a billionare novel i get so hooked and this novel was no different i was pulled in and kept me interested throughout. I have read quite afew with the fake relationships or fake engagements so i knew right from the get go this was definitely a novel for me. It was a quick read but still packed a punch i really enjoyed every second!
Nothing But Trouble (Irresistible Billionaire Series Book 1) by Ashley Bostock is another great contemporary billionaire romance story from her. Ashley is one of my favourite authors and I love the way she tells her stories. Her characters are wonderful, well developed and always a little complex which draws you in and make the journey just a little bit more appealing. I love stories that flow easily, even though there were a lot of bumps in the road and are told in different POV’s. I always love to read the male perspective as well and Ashley never disappoints in this area. This tantalising, steamy and sizzling story is a rags to riches tale that I read in one sitting.
Michael Vilander is a self made billionaire, of a very successful online matchmaking site. He is a one and done kind of man and closed off to relationships, thanks to his past, but he desperately needs a date for a Gala. Between him and his grandmother, whom I adored, he tries his own site. What follows is a captivating journey into the unknown, that changes his life for the better but not before his past, an evil, conniving, horrible and nasty ex comes back to play havoc.
Sophia will do anything for the one person she loves more than anything and that includes her current job. Will that be the one thing that keeps her from happiness?
This incredibly story is well worth the read. I am looking forward to the next sizzling delight in the series.

The Light at Dawn by K.L. Montgomery is amazing. It is one heartbreaking, soul crushing and heart stoppingly story. DO NOT and I repeat, do not read this book at work because you will do nothing but howl all the way through. Yes, I got strange looks. I have read a lot of K.L. books but this is the first I have read in this genre from her and it is a wonderful and tragic story where the main characters lives become intertwined after each has suffered from the most horrible thing a parent should go through. K.L. has excelled herself in this book. I’m not sure what I expected, but this is so much more. This is one story that will pull on your heartstrings and you can not put down. I loved and hated every single thing and read it in one sitting. I was mesmerized and captivated, enthralled and so engrossed that by the time I had finished, I was an emotional wreck. This story is such an emotional rollercoaster ride of feelings that don’t let up. Even now days later I am still thinking about this raw and confronting story and it still brings tears to my eyes.

The story The Light at Dawn by K.L. Montgomery is an amazing book that is powerful and emotional. It is a story that is both heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. It is a book that I thought about long after I had finished it. The story is written in such a way that you feel the deep/strong emotions that the main characters go through. I enjoyed reading about Angelia White and Mark Lyon. They both have had tragedy deeply affect their lives. What does the future hold for them? Read this book to find out. Angelia is a character that I grew to care about with each chapter that I read. Mark is a character that as the story progressed, I came to understand him better and the way he reacts to situatons. He is also a character that I found myself caring about. I also enjoyed reading about the additional characters that are introduced in the book. Many of them are friends and family who are supportive of Angelia and Mark. Angelia also has those who are protective of her. This is a story that you can’t help but ask “What would I do if I were in the same situation?” It is thought-provoking. Don’t miss out on a story that grabs your attention from the very beginning and doesn’t let you go until you have finished the final page. I would highly recommend reading it.

Ummm holy crap?! The Perfect Child by Lucinda Berry is a book that has it all if you enjoy reading mystery, psychological, thriller type books. When I got this month’s list of “First Reads” I thought why not pick this one and I am so glad I did. The story revolves around Christopher a doctor and his wife Hannah who is a nurse. A happily married couple who seem to have the perfect stable life except their desire to have a child has been impossible. They encounter a young girl Janie, who is admitted to the hospital under unspeakable circumstances and soon take her in. What starts out as their dream coming true, quickly turns into a nightmare that you won’t soon forget.
The characters are written well and you can envision each one. I found myself drawn to Hannah and feeling her frustration at not being heard. I could see the pain on her face, the disappointment of slowly losing her husband to a manipulative child. Often, Christopher made me so angry and I was literally saying “Are you fricking kidding me? What are you blind?” This book was enthralling, frustrating, heartbreaking, and kept me on my toes. The author pulled out all the stops and even though I knew early on what the “truth” was going to be I still found it to be a wonderful read that had so many twists and turns you didn’t see coming. This was my first read by this author but I can promise it won’t be my last. I appreciated the vivid details that weren’t over done and loved the different points of views. The secondary characters were realistic and strong and the writing style was smooth and easy. This is a book that you will want to read as soon as you can. Please note that there are some things that may be disturbing but if you like psychological type books you will see it for what it is.

She knows how to pull you in and keep you there until the book is done! This book follows Michael Vilander. He is the owner and creator of Together.com, which is a dating app. He is known to never have more than two dates and quite a bit of money. He doesn’t do the permanent dating thing ever since his gold-digger of an ex-fiance left him hanging at the altar. However, he needs a date to a fundraising event. So what does he do? He creates a fake profile on his own app in order to find a date. Who does he find? A beautiful woman who loves to bake, do yoga and paint. Sophia Baldwin spends most of her time taking care of her elderly grandmother. But she has a secret. She also doesn’t know who she really is going on a date with until the date itself. During that time to get back at Michael’s ex, Sophia decides to tell her that she and Michael are getting married. So they plan to act like they are getting married for one month. That doesn’t go quite as planned. This book definitely ends in a Happily Ever After. I love this book and I can’t wait to read who the next Billionaire will be! I would definitely recommend this book to someone into sweet billionaires!

I absolutely LOVE this book! Crime Lord’s Captive is the first book in the Crime Lords Series by Mia Knight. Morgan was living a simple life working in a bank as a teller and had the sweetest boyfriend ever. No one knew that she was running from something. No one knew that her name was changed either. Her real name is Lyla Dalton. Everyone except the person that she was running from. That was until one day when she came home from work and found someone waiting to take her back to her home in Las Vegas. Gavin Pyre is the new Crime Lord of Las Vegas and the one that Lyla was running from. It’s been 3 years since she’s been home. She doesn’t want to be there but in order to save her father she goes back. However, Gavin has other ideas. He wants her back and will do anything to get her back. That is until Gavin decides to give up the title to his #1. All hell breaks loose and Gavin goes on a rampage and things between Lyla and Gavin go haywire as well. This story ends, unfortunately in a cliffhanger. But, there are some steamy scenes too! I really enjoyed this book to the point where I couldn’t put it down! I was completely sucked in. This is not my first book by this author but it is my favorite! But be forewarned, have a box of tissues handy because this is one that made me ugly cry! This was just the book that i needed to read and have a good cry. When tragedy strikes in Angela’s life, she questions how she can continue her and move on when her child is no longer in it. To pass the time she goes to a gun rally and meets a man called Mark. He is on the opposing side at the rally but having suffered a tragedy of his own, they might be able to help each other heal. This contemporary romance follows a couple that has the odds seemingly stacked against them. I really jumped into the pages and became immediately entrenched in the storyline. I found myself in the author’s grip, enable to walk away until the last page was read. Beautiful, solid writing coupled with relatable characters and cohesive plot dells a fantastic book!

This book should only be read with a box of tissues and bottle of wine at the ready. This beautiful, tragic, emotional rollercoaster was masterfully written. I felt like I was neck deep in the situations and plot. Montgomery does an absolutely masterful job navigating a societal hot topic and treating it respectfully no matter which side the reader might be on. The characters are relatable, flawed, messy, and complex. This book, hands down, is one that everyone should read. It is simply that good.

It’s been a while since I read a book that took me from my happy place. It’s been a while since a book spoke to me on a deep level. I have kids and wouldn’t know how to go on if this happened to them. I will never understand the reason behind school shootings my heart broke with every word about these tragedies. The author really took you and dragged your emotions through the grinder. Angelia had so much faith, courage and resolve. I wish people were more open to change. Because so many lives have been lost due to people’s inability to see past their views. This story was a lesson learned for those who can’t see that change is needed. Feathers: A Novel is an incredible story by the very talented Kylie Stewart. This story took me on a journey I won’t soon forget, scrambling my emotions along the way. The story has a dark edge to it, especially in the beginning. There is lots of pain, feelings of betrayal, hopelessness, and fear- then some rays of light and sense of hope appear. With plenty of chemistry, angst, passion, and of course romance- this story had me hook right till the end. Charlotte Waters has endured something that no one should ever have to experience, especially a child. She was sold by her drug- addicted mother’s low-life boyfriend- to a gang who kept her captive for a year, treating her deplorably- she was living a nightmare existence- before she was finally ‘brought’ and released from that hell. It’s then that she meets Hawk McLean, who has his own baggage- but who also ignites a spark deep within her. These two develop a connection that transcends all bounds. I really won’t disclose more than that, because it would spoil the story for you, I really recommend diving in, and letting the author and story weave their magic- it’s well worth the read! The story is very emotive- sweeping me through the whole spectrum of emotions- and keeping me on tenterhooks the entire time. I really felt for Lottie and what she had endured. I admired her strength, bravery and resilience- she was so much stronger than she believed. I was rooting for her/them the whole way through. There were some really sweet, tender, and touching scenes- and a whole lot of sizzle. I loved the ‘meaning’ behind the ‘Feathers’, and the fact that fate put these two on a collision course- to teach each other to ‘fly’ . The characters were just superb!! I can’t wait to read ‘Wings’ when it releases!

Deepest Midnight is the first book in The Immortal Kindred Series by Clara Winter. This was my first read by Ms. Winter, but I am a real sucker for a good vampire story, so she had me right from the beginning. The story is a paranormal romance, with vampires, supernatural themes, suspense, action, drama, and a touch of mystery. Ms. Winter spins a captivating tale, with an original twist to the vampire theme. Millicent has been brooding and glum for over two hundred years mourning the loss of her soulmate, even though it happened so long ago, the pain is still fresh and the loss weighs heavily on her heart- it’s like she’d lost a part of herself. So, imagine her shock when she stops to watch a as a movie is being filmed nearby, and looks into the face from her past. The actor is the spitting image of her long lost lover. Is her grief-stricken mind playing tricks on her? Is this a freaky coincidence, or could he really be the same man? Join Millicent, Alexandre, Annie, and Jack to find out all the captivating details for yourself. This was a great story, with wonderful paranormal elements crafted in such a way that they were entirely believable. The whole story ‘came alive’ before my eyes, and that comes down to the authors talent for spinning a great story. I am really looking forward to the next book, “Rebel Heart’.

Finding Juniper book three in The Smoke Series written by Sadia Ash. Oh where to begin with this book Kyle and Juniper have a long drawn out and extremely complicated relationship. You never really know which way it will go with them they have a love hate relationship with a lot of push and pull. You feel for each of them throughout the story, and you just want to see where the story goes you get pulled in so quickly. Juniper is a strong character and a great one, Kyle is an alpha male but even he was a weakness, Juniper.
I had the pleasure of reading Hard as Steel by Virginia Wine. I have to say that I’ve enjoyed working my way through the Surviving Series, and couldn’t help but be excited when I started Hard as Steel. The author never ceases to amaze with her writing style and character development. I couldn’t help myself but fall for these characters, and loved watching grow as individuals. I loved everything about this book, and can honestly say that it was a 4 Star Book for me.

This was my favorite of the series by far. From the opening, I was hooked. This one has so much mystery and left your blood pumping while reading.
It was such a wild ride discovering who Jace was and his past as well as his relationship with Samantha.
For those looking for a suspenseful read, I highly recommend this novel and series.

I would like to say that there is enough warning out there to prepare you for the emotional rollercoaster ride that this book will take you on, but quite frankly that just isn’t the case with The Light as Dawn. K.L. Montgomery is normally a one-click author for me so it was a no-brainer to pre-order this beauty the moment I set my eyes on it and heard she had a sad book for us to devour. I had expected a rom-com with a bit more of the heavy sad here and there, more along the lines of what we would see from K.L. Montgomery in the past, and this is quite not what we got. I loved it though! Every stinking gut wrenching, tear inducing, kindle throwing, yelling, and kicking, screaming, bit of it! There was never a safe moment in my reading, just when I found my footing and would settle in, Montgomery would throw another curveball that would have me on my knees in tears and asking how and why all over again.
Now for details I won’t go into. They need to be kept to themselves because they are critical to the storyline and that I won’t ruin. But you will meet Angelina and Mark in their darkest hours, moments I am not sure I would even be able to survive, and how they are able to despite the pain and the sacrifices it requires of them. These two really made my heart swell, I just fell for them completely and I think it will be hard to top these two as favorite leads for 2019 reads. I really loved how Montgomery was able to take something that is a heated and conflicting topic that is constant and on our minds every day in one way or another no matter your age, gun violence, and build a productive story without choosing a side so to speak. It was really about the story that needed to be told, the characters and what they needed to relate. Much kudos for that! I will definitely be putting this one on my TBR reread list and snagging a hard copy for the shelf asap! Thank you so much for this beautiful story and reminder of hope Ms. Montgomery!

I couldn’t imagine living the way Clara had too. The fact that people treated her like that was hurtful and made me angry. The disrespect from her own family. I really like the McAlister family. They’re open and loving. They give everyone a chance and don’t hold rumors against them. Andrew was so cold to people it was a difficult defense mechanism to have. I liked how the author didn’t have them falling right away. There was a growing romance that required each to give in order to receive. The ton is such a ridiculous group. LUKE is the first book I’ve read by this author. This is one of those books that almost seemed like two different, really good, yet different books, were written and for some reason put together in the same binding.
The story starts out really strong. It’s a dark drama involving the two main characters set in the past when they are both teenagers. Then rather abruptly, we are in present time and it seems as if there is a story that we have entered the middle of involving alpha men who run a security company. Both stories have huge potential, but the way they are put together seems disjointed and going in two different directions. I really want to like it but it’s just so scattered that it felt unfinished.
I always appreciate when an author puts their thoughts on paper and even though this particular story wasn’t my cup of tea, I am invested enough to find out what happened to one of the secondary characters to continue with the story.

This is a contemporary romance with friends becoming more to each other. I thought that this story had some sweet moments as well as humorous moments. Elliot and Fe had great chemistry! Although I do like the love at first sight stories, my favorite type of story is this kind of story when the love between the two characters grow during your time with them! This was a fun, sweet read that I enjoyed.

Hard as Steel is book four in the Surviving series. This story can be read as a standalone. After reading the first 3 books in this series, I can say that this story takes a darker twist than the others. There are a few characters in this story along with different situations for each person. The situation Grace finds herself in could be triggers for some readers. Flynn’s protectiveness is greater than anything. While Nic and Steel have a working relationship, a respect for each other, and an attraction they have been fighting for a while.
Author Virginia Wine has created another great story with great characters. This storyline took my breath away as I read it as fast as I could.

In the wake of so many tragedies involving gun violence in this country, the message of this book is especially poignant. The political message surrounding gun control is the largest theme of this story with sprinklings of humor and romance. Angelia and Mark are incredibly well fleshed out as characters and the sweet moments they share brought on more than a few happy tears but the horrible heartbreak had me dehydrated by the end and with the headaches I always get after crying. So if you’re like me, take advil before reading. The tact with which K. L. Montgomery tackles both side of the issue (those who advocate for a more thorough gun control and those who believe being armed is the best defense) is commendable.

The Light at Dawn by K.L. Montgomery is an emotional story that had me in ugly tears at times. This is the story of Angelia White and Mark Lyon. The two are wounded from tragedy. Can the two come together and heal? This story is a beautiful story of survival and healing. This can be a hard subject for those who are sensitive to gun violence. Montgomery handles the subject matter well and it added to the story and wasn’t gratuitous violence. The story had me from the beginning to the end. I enjoyed the characters and wanted the best for them. This was a story that was relatable and reminds us that life is precious. We never know what each day will bring and so we need to make the most of each and every day.

The Light at Dawn by K. L. Montgomery is a five star novel. I really wish there was more stars I could give this book. Within the first couple minutes of reading this book, I was already in tears. As a teacher, this book was very difficult to read because of the sensitive material contained in this book. But I also believe that the topics we don’t talk about will only continue to get worse. After Angelia suffers a terrible tragedy, her marriage also falls apart. Five years later, she meets another man who she can’t seem to get out of her mind. After realizing they have some very deep core values that differ from each other, she starts to distance herself from him. But after he has also recently suffered his deepest loss, Angelia and Mark rekindle a little flame and see each other only at the rallies they go to on different sides of the fence. Can they find common ground or will they be at odds forever?
