I really was not sure I’d like this book when I started reading, it seemed to be a normal boring book but then bam it smacks you in the face. It is such an original story with so much detail but not too much to overwhelm you. I loved it. Could not put it down. If it wasn’t for me having to go to work the next day, I would’ve finished it within a few hours. I absolutely loved the saying at the beginning and end as well. The book was perfectly written and I cannot read more by Courtney Davis.

I don’t have enough praise for this book. I loved Raising Elle. A story of a battered woman coming home and trying to get her life together without looking over her shoulder but her secret is big. Amazing storyline, my favorite is when the secret comes out. You never know with parsnips.

Naomi and her daughter Ella move to a new small town after a divorce. They stumble upon a dead body in the barn the first day there, and the rest of the book focuses on solving the “whodunnit.” The banter and discussions with their next door neighbors and other townfolk (like the HVAC technician) make this a quick but highly enjoyable read, with the plot moving quickly.
I can’t wait to read the other two books in this series, and love the little quirks thrown in (like a teacup collection) and how everything can (or can’t) be solved by a strong cup of tea. Most cozy mysteries I find pointless or dry, but it is not the case for A Spot of Earl Slay.

The mystery continues This is the eighth book in The Madeline Dawkins Mystery Series and once again it was a thrilling ride. The author delivers a compelling story filled with many interwoven high stakes cases that Madeline and her team need to work through. I was glued from start to finish. This is one series that stays strong the whole way through. Highly recommend.

Tristan, a firefighter, cannot forget about the red haired angel he rescued. Riley, a private investigator, cannot forget her blue eyed hero. Fate keeps jumping in to have these two encounter each other and find love. I’d state this is a solid 3-3.5 stars for me but rounded up because I have hopes for this series to keep getting better. Things I enjoyed about this story was the relationship that developed between Riley and Tristan. I also enjoyed the suspense that was added into the story, although it was a highly predictable level of mystery. The one thing that left me hung up on this read was the initial time jump. With a book this short, the time periods were so quick. It just wasn’t a good flow for me but the storyline was good. I would have preferred to begin with initial meeting rather than a future meeting of our main characters. Overall good read and hoping the storyline continues nicely through this series.

Madeline is off on another case when an old friend asks her and her team to help solve some missing monies within her husband’s company. So while the team investigates the missing bookkeeper, the case gets more and more stranger.
As Madeline runs into another case from a child who are worried regarding their father’s younger fiancée and wonder if she is all cracked up to be, but as her team delves into the case they are struggling to find any information on her, but strangely things are starting to cross over in all the cases and, Madeline is left wondering what is going on. Can she solve were the missing bookkeeper is, tackle the gold digger fiancée and understand how everything seems to lead back to single point.
I love this series and as this is the seventh book in the series, all the books can be read as stand alone stories, the author is really good at filling you in on some of the history of the main characters and you go, but if you have enjoyed this book I recommend you read the others as you will not be disappointed.
I love the way that Madeline, Mike and the team work together to solve the mysteries and that you feel like you become a Honorary member of the group. The story flows brilliant through the clues and conversations which you devour with enthusiasm and can’t wait to carry on to see the outcome.
Please keep writing more as I think I am totally addicted to them now and would miss to be part of the group. Thank you.

Even with the serious challenges faced in this second=chance romance, Elle and Blake find their way back to each other. What makes this story to endearing and heartwrenching is the work they both put into it. I felt every moment and emotion of the pain they felt. Their story of second=chance romance is one worth reading. There are touch topics but it’s worth charging through. Love is hard and their are many blockades. The author did a fantastic job of making this story relatable through her writing with the the characters, the plot and the overall tone of the book. I would love to see more with Elle’s sisters finding their loves.

Boy, Jade stepped from one heap of trouble into a paranormal heap of trouble. Baal, a snake shifter, enters her life, as she starts a new life in WiTSEC. Oh, I found the drama and all the critters in the story quite entertaining. It is a pretty basic story yet the author gave us a intriguing look at how Jada came to find out about herself and her powers. Exploding with her light and energy in the field was my favorite part. I found the characters to be enough that they kept me wanting more. The plot had a few glitchy spots but it was enough to keep reading. I would love more about this crazy town full of paranormal craziness hidden among it. The romance helps also.

Kyle was always a loner, hiding in the shadows when the other boys played until one night seeing the bullies push around the younger kid he felt a protection to save the boy. When he came out of his hiding place and stood up for that sweet little boy his whole world turn on its axis and nothing would be the same.
Lyle had a protector, someone who would not let anything bad happen to him, seeing that Kyle had no where to go he invited him back home where his family adopted him, but although Kyle left one abusive family he was plunged into another one but he had a purpose to protect Lyle and his mother.
Until that faithfully night when the world changed and Lyle and Kyle got plunged into world of Love and heartbreak.
For such a short book it certainly packs a punch. I have to say there are alot of triggers in this book regarding abuse and although harrowing to read this adds an add depth to the characters to show they have overcome or trying to overcome the past. The relationship between the main characters is a heartfelt journey of forbidden love, jealous and utter heartbreak which will have you just in bits about.
The story was well written and although complex at times draws you in from the first word to the end, I can’t wait to read the next book as you left us hanging there Ms Sand and am on the edge of my seat to see what happens.

A Curse of Ash and Iron is a Steampunk/ YA with hints of fantasy and is a wonderful retelling of the children’s classic Cinderella but with a different kind of twist. I truly enjoyed this retelling of a classic more than I thought I would. I loved being pulled in from the beginning and the twists and turns had me turning the pages trying to figure out what was going to happen in this version. Let me tell you what I wasn’t disappointed in the least in fact I loved it. Ellie has spent several long years under her stepmother’s watchful eye since her mother’s death. She was hidden in plain sight yet Ellie wondered if she’d ever escape. Then there’s Ben who seems to be immune to the magic . Time is quickly running out and New Year’s Eve is approaching fast and they still need to find a way to break the curse before midnight if they don’t her and her father will be bound forever . I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

Oh my stars. The heat coming off of this book was just so amazing. I knew I was going to love Riley, right from the start. Tristan stole my heart, in that way only Tristan can. So much chemistry between them. The passions, the bantering, the mystery, the suspense. You will not want to put this book down!!! @Elena Kincaid, thank you for such amazing characters and an amazing story. I’ll definitely be reading more of her work!!!

Fiddle and Fire is the second book in the Hearts of Gold Series. This is a MMF Historical Romance with just the right amount of hot and steamy. I’m a fan of Historical Romance and throw in some MMF and I’m a gonner. I loved everything about this book from the characters that are fully developed and real they bring the story to life. The story flowed so flawlessly that I devoured it in one afternoon. Suzette and her brother just moved to San Francisco and she met Isaac and Walter . These two gentlemen have been friends for a long time. Is there more to their relationship than friendship? These three definitely have chemistry. Who will she choose? Can she have both? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next . I look forward to seeing what this author brings us next.

5 stars I love a Dark Paranormal Romance tale and Sinister Styx certainly delivers on that. Corpse Pixie is another original and captivating read by Sinister. It is a quick short read. Being such a great read makes me wish it was longer but it packs so much in to a punch as it is. I don’t know where Sinisters stories come from but I love the uniqueness of them making for delightfully refreshing reads. This cleverly woven tale has a plot that is well thought out and a narrative that draws you in. Of course the story would not be complete without things that go bump in the night like zombies, witches, fae, hunters and demons and much more. Leaving the ending open makes way for some more delicious darkness to come. I can’t wait. If you are a Dark Paranormal lover then I highly recommended reading any of Sinister Styx’s work. There is no way you will be disappointed. No spoilers here because the story is so short you will have to read it to find out what happens.

A Curse of Ash and Iron by Christine Norris is a YA steampunk retelling of the classic fairytale: Cinderella. Set in 1876 the story is full of historical details, some sci-fi elements, magic, fantasy, curses, secrets, romance, high stakes, a bit of a love triangle, angst, and drama. From the blurb and the cover, I really expected this to be a full-blown steampunk story, in a steampunk world- but it is more of an historical Cinderella retelling, with steampunk elements. So, I don’t know if my expectations are why I didn’t fully connect with this story, or not. I just didn’t ‘feel’ it like I was wanting to. As I really wanted to FLOVE this book, but it just didn’t live up to my expectations. The characters really frustrated me to no end. So, I found it so hard to ‘care’ about them and what was happening in the story. And as a result, I was left feeling disappointed. I might have to revisit this book in the future to see if I still feel the same way, or if perhaps I was having an ‘off’ reading day… If you love steampunk elements added to a classic fairytale, clean romance, and YA fantasy, then this might just be the book for you. Fiddle and Fire is the second book in the Hearts of Gold Series by Ariella Talix. This is an historical romance, menage/why choose, MMF story, set in the early days of San Francisco. Sprinkled with a little danger, drama, mystery, suspense, chemistry and sizzle- the synopsis promised all the ingredients that I normally love to find in a story- but unfortunately I failed to connect with the characters or their story, which in turn made it difficult to immerse myself in the story the way I had hoped. Suzette, Walter, and James just didn’t grab me- and I had to keep my mind from wandering and force myself to stay in the story. Which was frustrating. I felt that some things were a bit of an info dump, while others lacked the detail I would have liked. The chemistry/sizzle/sexiness didn’t live up to expectation either- but perhaps that’s just me. This is a dark, fun, and sinister little tale that although short in length, leaves nothing lacking- with all the intrigue and impact of a much longer novel. Belladonna has been living as a recluse for quite some time now- setting up home in the forest, alone with nature. Until her peace is disturbed by humans desecrating her sacred space. One of the humans catches her eye, and a bit of an obsession starts. Rene has arrived at yet another grizzly crime scene- the murders are taking their toll on him- body, mind, and spirit. Now he has started hallucinating. But has he really, or is there something else at play here? As strange things begin happening more and more often, Rene finds himself caught in a web that he might not escape. And who is this mysterious woman that flits through his dreams? Who is behind the murders, and why? With danger mounting and secrets revealed, what ensues makes for a fantastic read… Ms. Styx has once again woven such a cleverly crafted story that had me flipping the pages, reading avidly, to discover what would happen next. The darkish, sinister feel really added to the impact of the story, and I loved the intense atmosphere that Ms. Styx created. This story definitely captured my attention right from the beginning with her unique, mysterious, moody, and slightly spooky vibe that managed to permeate through the entire story. The intriguing mystery and suspense pulled me further and further into the story as I tried to figure out what was going on and how everything would play out in the end. As I have come to expect from Ms. Styx, her story is crafted in a way that not everything is as it first appears, and as the revelations come, they are definitely unexpected. She left me guessing most of the way through about what would happen in the end. Again, very cleverly done… Ms. Styx didn’t disappoint, as her storytelling, writing, scene-setting, world-building, and dramatic touches are all very rich, imaginative, and vividly descriptive. She wove a lot into a small package, but expertly choreographs all the elements into quite a unexpectedly fun and engrossing read. Can’t wait to see what comes next… Happy Reading…

This is such a great read! Who didn’t dream of having super powers as they grew up? I know I sure did, and this book is chalked full of many different types of mutants and supernaturals (Supers).
You get adventure from literally the first pages of this book as Noah tries to evade certain people, and the thrills just keep growing from there. Noah Reagan wants to make a scientific breakthrough, gain respect, and maybe even make a name for himself in the science world. He sees being accepted into The Summer with Supers Youth Program as the best route to start making his dreams a reality, but with the mutant population on the rise, he’s enlisted to help in his father’s Mega-Maintenance cleanup company. Will he stay the target of bullies forever as he watches his wonderfully planned summer go down the drain or can he find a way to get out of cleaning up and babysitting this summer? Are things going to get out of hand as Noah tries to find his own path?
This is a fun fast chapter book that will appeal to old and young alike. Brittany Tucker’s writing style is easy to follow and really gets you involved in the story and what the characters are going through. Though it’s a fantasy book, there are a lot of relatable scenarios in it as well, such as: bullying, feeling misunderstood, feeling that they aren’t listened to by a parent, and many more. There can be so many conversations and lessons that can be brought up from this one book. I personally can’t wait for more!

This is the 3rd book I’ve read by this author, and it’s definitely the most bizarre. Cabin Eight is strangely satisfying. The author keeps you intrigued and wanting more. It feels like Alice in Wonderland meets Labyrinth with everything going on. Miranda finds herself in a lot of unfortunate trouble. Needing a break from life her mom suggested she respond to a resort invite and to take a mini-vacation. Well that mini-vacation sends Miranda on an unwanted adventure that ends up turning into so much more. Lessons to be learned, fears to overcome, and acceptance of things one wants to forget. The resort facility is truly testing Miranda’s strengths and limits. Stating it’s an experiment. All Miranda wants is to get out of this place, get to her car, and leave. Will she get out of the facility? Will she complete the experiment? This book makes you think. Tests one’s limits. While keeping it interesting all the same. No matter the book I will recommend this author. This book is no different but you might want to go into this with a clear and open mind.

This the third book by Susan Specht Oram. These are standalone books, but it is nice to read them in order. This book was hard to believe with Miranda. Another unique book in the Millersville Series. It is described as a conspiracy theory thriller which seems an apt description. Unfortunately, the whole concept was beyond far fetched. However, it was a quick and fairly entertaining read. It had strong character development which helped with remembering characters easily even though there were many introduced. If you’re into conspiracy theories, this is the book for you.

This book was brilliantly written with a complex but strong character development. The author keeps the reader intrigued and excited to continue reading the book with its many twists and turns.
Sloan, the female lead character is living a complicated life while trying to distance herself from her past. Her life hasn’t been easy and thing’s drastically changed after the mysterious disappearance of her younger brother many years ago. Her father was convicted, her mother committed and Sloan had to make her way through the thick of things mostly on her own. She had a few loved ones back home who helped her with her mother, which she constantly felt guilty about each day. When she found out that she needed to come home again due to family drama, she reluctantly returns and soon finds her life flipped upside down.
This book is a fantastic mystery and crime story with a few twists and turns that will have you questioning who did it!?

A lot of supernatural characters. Plenty of action. Kaela was attacked while at work and another paranormal Terran saves Kaela. He is severely injured. So repaying Terran, Kaela risks herself and heals Terran. It’s quite interesting and kept me on my toes.

I love this authors story books and this story did not disappoint. Loretta is such an inquisitive child. I love that she questions what is happening and in turn, giving lessons that are fun and entertaining. The artwork is beautiful and gives wonderful visuals.
Cabin Eight is my least favorite from the Millersville series. I highly recommend Shore Lodge and The Thieves instead. I think the biggest issue with the book is that I found the storyline unbelievable. It felt like Alice in Wonderland or a dream world where I was trying to make sense of the trials that Miranda was going through. She must learn from her mistakes to forgive herself for her past. It is a short story and does make you question how many permissions you’ve given away to companies mining your personal information.

You have Lillian who wants to save her sister. You have Tristan who wants to save his mother. One is a healer. One is a burner. There is a lot of romance, drama, and adventure. A great read!

Super quick read! Not one of my favorite reads but I was intrigued. Good characters and the storyline was decent! Miranda has many regrets that she’s trying to work through! It had my attention enough to want to finish so that’s a plus. If you want to read a thriller where the female character has great growth and refuses to give up, read this. This is the third book of the series!

This is the second book in the Millersville series by Susan Specht Oram. This was probably my least favorite book in the series. A good book overall though. It is full of action and is an easy read. It is a multiple pov book.
