My Pearl Heart by J.N. Sheats is a short novella length contemporary romance with plenty of angst, drama, emotion, and chemistry.
This follows Jasmine Hayes, a successful event planner, who we meet as she experiences the best kiss of her life. Passionate. Sizzling. Toe-curling perfection. And the man who bestows the kiss on her seems pretty perfect too. So, imagine her surprise and confusion when he then proceeds to announce his engagement to her best friend and business partner. Awkward much…. But things take an even more uncomfortable turn when Jasmine is tasked with planning their engagement party, AND wedding. But things may not be as they seem, and we get a front row seat to all the developments. Will Jasmine get the HEA she deserves? No spoilers from me…. You’ll have to read the story for yourself to discover what happens.
I really wanted to love this story much more than I did, as I have loved the other books of Ms. Sheats that I have read before. It should have ticked all the boxes for me, but I just couldn’t connect with the characters, or their story. I spent much of the story completely frustrated with the characters and wanted to shake them so so much. I really felt for Jasmine and what happened, and even after the revelation, I couldn’t seem to push past my initial impression. When I read a great book, I love to invest in the characters and the outcome of their stories- but that failed to happen for me here. But, having loved Ms. Sheats other books, I have decided to revisit this one again in a few weeks to see if I still feel the same way- or to see if perhaps I was just having an “off” reading day when I read this. Abi is working three jobs and has no time for a life let alone a social life, so when her best friend and sister try to sell her the idea of a reality TV show she is hesitant at best. Is this the only way she is going to meet anyone in her current life and will he become Mr Right.

Finn has yet again caused his agent worries regarding his latest episode, so they strong arm him into reinvesting his image and going on the new reality TV show, all he has to do is playing the doting husband for three months and that’s it all done, can he really do this.

This is the first time I have read anything from this author and I really enjoyed this light hearted story. The characters Finn and Abi were so suited to each other, and the chemistry jumped off the page the minute they were together. Although at the beginning Finn had his doubts and was very offish with her they still developed a comfortable dialogue and interaction.

The story was unique and a page turner and I could not get enough of the story, the story flowed beautifully and really opened up these beautiful characters to make us invested in the relationship and willing them on in the end. I can’t wait to read more books by this wonderful author.

While completing an assignment, Dorian accidentally injuries another person. Wanting to ensure that the other person is okay, he disguised himself as a physical therapist to check on the man named Augustine. From the first meeting, Dorian has an attraction to the other man but tries to ignore the feeling mostly because he is married and tells himself that is it because he misses his wife.

The more time they spend together, the growing their feelings become.

The title and premise is what caught my attention. I don’t read a lot of M x M stories because to me, it can be difficult to find good ones. This story was short but it had an emotional impact on me. In a way I feel it was beautifully written and I was curious on how the story would play out. On how Augustine would react if he ever found out the truth about Dorian and how they met.

I really enjoyed reading this story.

I actually enjoyed The Taste of Light better than the previous book in this series. The author wrote a redemption piece for Pedro. He definitely ended up the villain in the previous book. Again the tale comes together beautifully. Forbidden Fruit, one he can’t have. Why do authors suck me in with that narrative? Illegal fall for it everytime.
Anne decides to help her brother and sister in law out by spreading the news to the neighbors on how to combat the Phylloxera. When she comes across an estate that’s beautiful but the crops have been ravaged but Phylloxera. She ends up being in the wrong place at the wrong time and ends up on an adventure. Of not only self discovery but of her heart as well.
Pedro was ready to strike a deal with the king to marry the princess. Until his past came back to haunt him. While on the run for being accused of an attempt on the King’s life. Trying to clear his name as well as protect the beautiful woman by his side becomes a bigger task and adventure than he realized. Her life has been threatened because of him. She’s the sister of the man he hates for stealing Julia. Can’t be coincidence, could it? Sounds more like Karma to me. What he doesn’t expect is to lose control. Anne has the power to bring him to his knees, and he can’t let that happen.
What happens between Anne and Pedro?
Does Pedro make everything right?
The growth of Pedro’s character in this book is leaps and bounds. I didn’t care for him prior to reading this book, but now I have a soft spot.
If you enjoy a romance adventure this book is for you. And you don’t necessarily have to read the previous book. It works very well as a standalone novel.

The True Purpose of Vines was different from something I usually read. Yes the romance aspect pulls me towards it but it’s still different. It gave me Walk in the Clouds vibes. Different scenario but the vineyard was still damaged. In this case it was by Phylloxera vs a fire. I liked it. Sometimes different is good, and this case it was. The author wrote a beautiful story based in Portugal across a few of the country’s vineyards.
Griffin has become the owner of Boa Vista, he needs to travel into the country to get it right. Before leaving he makes an arrangement to become Mr.Croft’s partner as well as an arranged marriage with his daughter. Sounded like a great plan, until the vineyard’s changed him.
Julia runs Vesuvio in place of her late husband. Doing everything she can to keep Tony’s future afloat. What those around her don’t realize is it’s her doing everything vs a man. Women during that time didn’t do manual labor, that was left to the men of the household. When she comes into contact with an English stranger things begin to change.
Pedro has wanted Julia for 10 years. Now that she’s available he intends on making her his. One thing he didn’t realize, she doesn’t want him. Not like that. They were good friends growing up and that’s how she wants to keep it.
The tension between these 3 characters is palpable for different reasons. A triangle of sorts. The author navigated beautifully.
Who ends up with Julia?
Does Phylloxera destroy all their crops?
Is there a way to stop it?
Those are just some of the questions the author makes you ask yourself while reading this story. It’s written like it should be told like a tale, or legend for that matter. Which gives it a different depth that I liked.

Things Are Shaking is the second book in the Invisible Magic Wand series by Lois Wickstrom. It is a fun children’s story that has a cute storyline, colourful illustrations, fun, adventure, educational elements/lessons, and a touch of magical whimsey in the form of an Invisible Magic Wand.
Caspian’s cousin Belinda has come for a visit and Caspian shows her his invisible magic wand that his grandpa gave him for his birthday. She wants one too, and Grandpa just happens to have one spare. But what happens when an earthquake hits? Follow along on this cute little adventure with Caspian, Belinda, and Grandpa.
With interesting characters, this quirky story was engaging and fun, feeding both the imagination, as well as teaching a few lessons such as problem solving.

Falling Home: A Buckeye Falls Novel

I think I may have fallen in love with Buckeye Falls while reading this book. The idea of cold does nothing for me but thus is definitely a town I could see myself spending summer months in and maybe a quick trip at Christmas for the Jubilee.

Growing up in a large metro area I have never understood the appeal of the hustle and bustle and I still don’t get it. There is something refreshing about a small town and Buckeye Falls definitely falls into that category.

This was a great second chance romance, Max and Ginny are so good together even when they aren’t necessarily together and oh my even if Harold is closer to may age, how adorable is he? Oh and Mona too.

This is the second book I have had the pleasure to read by this author recently, and I’m definitely becoming a fan.

Last year, Caspian received a very unconventional gift on his un-birthday from his grandfather. It was an invisible magic wand. Today, Caspian decides he’s going to use it during breakfast time to change the speed of what’s happening in the world. Caspian’s cousin Belinda becomes very upset and decides she must have an invisible magic wand from grandfather as well. As soon as grandfather hands her a wand, everything starts shaking and the trio is trying to figure out how to stop it using their wands.

This is a super cute book and I love the illustrations. They are very colorful and vibrant. Lois Wickstrom writes engaging stories that often times have a scientific lesson in them. I would recommend this book, as well as others by this author, to have in your personal/school/daycare library. These make great books for learning!

This book is a follow up to Caspian’s story of his Unbirthday Present of a magic wand that can manipulate time. With this installment, Caspian’s cousin Belinda gets her own wand, and there are definitely some unexpected consequences. This was a quick read for my 8 year old, and she read it as a bedtime story, to me in just a few minutes. My kiddo was also able to find some issues in the kids behavior and comment on it, making it a learning experience as well as a bedtime story, which I love. I would definitely recommend this to young readers.

Falling Home is one of the cutest books I have read in a while (and I love that it is a clean romance). It is the first book in the Buckeye Falls series, and I am so excited to see there will be a 2nd book. At the end of the book, I was hoping CeCe would get her own story, and then there it was- a sneak peak at the 2nd book. This book is an adorable story with a happily ever after. It takes place in a small town in Ohio, and gives a second chance at love for main characters Max and Ginny. I loved that the story had lingering feelings and confusion for both characters, so it was not one sided. Max is a total sweetheart and anyone could fall in love with him. Ginny is a woman determined to not follow in her mother’s footsteps, to the point that she may find herself there anyway. The supporting characters are wonderful, and I would love for Harold to get his own story as well. Highly recommend and look forward to book two.

This was a great 5 star read. I really liked both of these characters although Finn frustrated me at times with his stubbornness. Abi is in a bind trying to help her sister, when an opportunity comes her way. She decides to do a reality show where she ends up marrying Finn. Finn is not happy about the situation and tries to keep Abi at arms length. However, she is testing him at every turn. I loved her feistiness and that she would challenge him. He definitely needed it. And I loved his friends, they added a great element to the story. The term of endearment that Finn used was so sweet. Will Abi get through Finns tough walls and get a HEA? Will she be able to help her sister? The author does a great job of pulling you in with her writing. All the characters were so loveable. I look forward to reading more from this author and series. 1-click and get started today.

The Hawke Family Collection

This series and the author is new to me and I’ll definitely be reading her books as often as I can get my hands on them. The Hawke Family Series is awesome and I read through all 6 books in about 2 weeks. Each one stars one of the Hawke Family members or a close friend. The Hawke are a strong family and once you connect with them you seem to get integrated quickly into the family. I highly recommend reading these books in order!

Book 1 – Savage Collision: The first book introduces us to Savage Hawke, the oldest of the Hawke siblings. He is a man dedicated to his businesses while doing his best to keep his employees safe. When he’s accused by Danika Ericksson that he’s putting women in dangerous situations, he adamantly denies those accusations. The attraction between Savage and Danika is spicy from the start and keeps you on the edge. There are moments in the book that are steamy, sad, heartbreaking, and action packed.
The book introduces us to the Hawke family members and to loyal and new friends.

Book 2 – Tortured Skye: One of the younger Hawke sisters Skye, who is smart but has been a little off due to a tragedy. She is tolerated by her family based on her actions and reactions. Skye finally gives into her feelings for her brother’s best friend. Could this turn into something good or will it destroy something special?

Book 3 – Stone Sober: The youngest and the only other brother of the family Stone. He is super smart but seems to get himself in trouble all the time. This book brings out more about Stone so we get to understand him better. Can he keep the shady dealings from ruining Nora who he is attracted to because of her innocence or will he drag her into the shady side of his life?

Book 4 – Building Storm: This is my favorite book of the series which is about Storm Hawke. Storms life went up in flames and she needs to find a way to build it back up again. There are some tough times that Storm must work through. This is my favorite book of the series. Although our stories are different, I had to find my way to a new life too.

Book 5 – Tainted Saint: Although this book isn’t specifically about one of the Hawke family members, it is about a couple of their friends. Caroline Brooks (Danika’s best friend) is attracted to Solomon Clark (aka Saint) and he is attracted to Caroline. Will these two be able to survive what happens when they connect while at a masquerade ball?

Book 6 – Steele Resolve: Byron Harris works for Savage Hawke at the Hawkeye club. Luca ‘Steele’ Abello is a dangerous mob boss. Their chance encounter will bring danger but will the danger bring them together. Luca is in town to take care of his father once and for all. Will the distraction of his feelings for Byron bring more danger is way? How will the Hawke family help their friend and club manager Byron?

This short book is a prequel to Isaac and Jack’s story.

Isaac and Jack are two strangers at a bar who can’t keep their eyes off each other. Some flirty banter leads to them deciding on one-night with no real names. Isaac will be leaving the city soon since he just finished law school and Jack has an overprotective family who will be looking for her by sunrise. So…one night it is.

However, one night turns into two when these two have chemistry that explodes off of the pages. But, when Isaac wakes up that second morning, Jack is gone and only a note left in her place. When he races out of the hotel to find her…he is more confused on who she is and how he will find her again.

This book was a quick read that I finished really fast. The story was fast paced and H-O-T hot! Definitely has me wondering exactly what is going on with Jack and if these two will find a way to make it work. I will definitely be checking out the next story!

This is a really well-written book. Wonderful characters and a good plot.

This book follows the story of Jasmine. Jasmine works hard for herself and to keep her employees paid and employed. She works with her best friend Cadence. Cadence is in love with the social scene while Jasmine prefers to stick to herself and those she knows best.

James is the man that has it all. Wealth, fame, good looks, and family money that runs deep. What happens when a chance encounters throws these two into each others lives?

Will the independent hard working woman getting the freedom she dreams of? Can the threat of time ruin what could be? Will others get in the way? Read this book to find out.

This was my first book by the author, but it definitely won’t be the last! This story has everything, action, humor, drama, romance, tension, and redemption all rolled into one amazing story. The author’s vivid descriptions of the scenery added to the beautiful romance she weaved together. She foreshadowed Pedro and Anna’s love story with the medieval love story of Dom Pedro and Ines de Castro, which just added to the intense suspension of their love story. You really get a sense of the characters and want to see them get their happily ever after. This is absolutely a must read if you are a lover of historical romance.

So this one is a huge let down for me. I grabbed it from the blurb expecting a girl and a fae world story. That is not what I got. I got a kid who tries to solve a mystery and make adult decisions while traveling with aunt. There is a small touch of fae mentioning but mot at all what I felt the blurb led me to believe. It also seemed slow moving and there is a lot of narrative which led me to skimming.

Maybe I just wasn’t in the right frame of mind when I picked it up but it was a let down for me. The cover is wonderful as is the title but it took way too long to get anywhere.

This was a winner in my house. Belinda and Caspian working their wands for the syrup and then the earthquake had my grandson giggling. The author has a way of making learning fun and entertaining. Caspian has become a favorite story at bedtime here. We used this one to talk about speed and movement and what to do in an earthquake. A favorite for sure.

Redemption is the name of the game and Pedro came to play! In book one I despised Pedro. When starting book two, I did not think I would have any other feelings for him. Then Anne enters the picture, and the force between them is unmatched! Lo and behold, Pedro has a tender side! The book is jam-packed with action, suspense, laughter, tears, and romance that will take your breath away! What a beautiful continuation of the Winemaker’s series and a way to turn our hearts and make us see a character in a different light! This series keeps winning me over. Book three here I come!

I enjoyed this story as much as my great nieces and great nephew did. The illustrations were captivating and engaging.

We continue with the story of Caspian and his magic wand along with this grandfather, whom gifted this wand to Caspian.

Caspian’s cousin, Belinda, wanted a magic wand of her own just like Caspian has. When Belinda finally gets her own wand, things are a moving and a shaking for sure. Belinda uses her magic wand to help Caspian and Grandfather…but in doing so there is truly a valuable lesson to be learned.

I do not want to give the entire book away, but this a very good story and it tugged at my heart.

Caspian is back but not for an Unbirthday. This time he is joined by his cousin and Grandpa as their world is rocked quite literally. Luckily they have their trusty magic wands to help them out of any sticky situation.
The bright and colourful illustrations help bring the story to life which children will delight in. It is appropriately aged for kids between the ages of 4 to 8 years old.
Lois once again brings fun to your doorstep for all to enjoy.

The chemistry is intense from the minute he speaks to her and every touch leads to wanting more, but it’s just for one night, right?

Isaac Hawke has just graduated from law school and is out for one night of fun before heading into his role in the Hawke family’s business empire. When he makes eye contact across the room with a stunning redhead, he feels an instant attraction. From the way she is looking at him the attraction seems to be mutual. Both Isaac and the mysterious redhead agree to spend one night together but the rule is that they cannot exchange real names.

Both Isaac (“Nolan”) and “Jack” were running from their families, for different reasons, and each needed a way to escape from the realities of their worlds. Falling into each others’ arms, while assuming different names, made that escape a possibility. Neither went into it with any sort of expectation and they fully intended to walk away afterwards with no-strings attached.

“Jack”, as the mysterious redhead calls herself, turns out to be someone that “Nolan” (Isaac) cannot get enough of, and he finds that he does not want their time together to end. He decides to ask “Jack” for her real name in the morning but when he wakes up, she is gone. Now with no real name to go by, Isaac fears that he will never be able to find this mysterious and sexy redhead that he cannot imagine being without.

This book was steamy from the first few pages and became sizzling hot as it went along. The chemistry between Isaac and “Jack” was intense, and full of raw passion. It ended on a bit of a cliff-hanger, and I cannot wait to read more in the series.

Reading these to my 4month old niece to reading them with my 12-year son are both so much fun to see their reactions. I would recommend for preschoolers and care givers. Becoming one of my favorite children’s authors.

Abi applies and is selected for a reality tv show where she will marry a stranger for 3 months. She walks into her wedding where she meets her soon to be husband, Finn, a playboy actor who is set on changing his image and is not looking for another girl who wants him for material possessions. The two have some trials and errors but soon realize they actually like, perhaps love each other.
This was a good contemporary story about strangers over coming dating after marrying. Abi was a great, selfless character who comes with a side of sass. Finn is untrusting but slowly opens up to Abi’s kindness. We follow them on their reality show life and see if all the tasks they are thrown into will allow them to continue on as husband and wife after the 3 month contract. Overall great read and fun take on a modern romance.

I’ve heard good things about the first series, but I haven’t picked up any books from it. I decided to check out this prequel to get a feel for what the second generation series might be like.

What I liked: The writing is well done, the story is easy to follow, and the author writes good steamy scenes.

What could have been better: The story gave me nothing to connect to the characters. You get very little backstory outside of some vague statements. I knew it was going to have some steam from the blurb, but I really expected more story line than there was. Even though the story ends on a cliffhanger, it didn’t make me want to grab the first book in the series to find out anything more.

Conclusion: If you want to read a ton of steam, this is the book for it. I feel like I would have appreciated this story more if I had already read the book this is leading up to and had made a deeper connection to the characters.
