The Rise of House Valdis (House Valdis #1)The Rise of House Valdis by Naomi Valkyrie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Naomi Valkyrie has hit a home run with The Rise of House Valdis (House Valdis book 1). This story has a little bit of mystery, fantasy, sci-fi, actions and danger. Once I started reading, I knew I was going to have to complete the book. Valkyrie ties her characters and the plot line very well. The characters are multidimensional and the plot keeps you on your toes. Story is about Xen and her ability to have a second chance on earth. Xen best friend is Maggie, who is the only one who knows what Xen really is. Xen had to make a decision which can cause a problem. There are things that she cannot have exposed otherwise it may cause more danger than good. Will Xen be able to trust others about her true nature or Will Xen have some tough road ahead. I cannot wait to see what happens in the book.

The Rise of House Valdis is the first intriguing story in the House Valdis series, and debut novel by Naomi Valkyrie. This is a very original fantasy, with sci-fi elements, action, danger, ‘powers’, responsibility, discovery, and more. I fell in love with the cover, before I even knew anything about the book. I wanted to read it as soon as I laid eyes on that gorgeous cover. I was so curious to find out what it was all about and couldn’t wait to dive in.
As I said, the story is quite original, with quirky characters who were really well developed and interesting. I definitely wanted to follow Xenobia and the rest of the cast to see how everything would play out in the end. The danger and suspense that was woven into the story added a great level of tension and drama. There was also an emotive quality to parts of the story, which also added to the overall ‘feel’ of the book.
The story is told from multiple, alternating points of view, which gives the reader a broad perspective of everything that’s going on. Naomi Valkyrie style is descriptive and detailed, painting each scene in vivid detail. But I did find that at times the story lagged a bit as we get a little ‘lost’ in the descriptive details. Then at other times I felt there were aspects which weren’t detailed enough- where I had to draw a few of my own conclusions, or where I felt I may have ‘missed’ something (but hadn’t). I did re-read some parts because of this and still was left wondering. This didn’t distract from my overall enjoyment of the book- and I feel it was just a case of Ms. Valkyrie ‘finding her feet’ as a new author. I have debated over what to rate this book , trying to decide between 3 and 4 Stars, but finally settling on 4 for originality. She also deserves credit for a job well done, producing an enjoyable story for her debut.
The ending definitely leaves an opening for another book, or books. After the way this ended, I am intrigued to see where the story might lead us!

Thank you, Naomi Valkyrie!

Wow……what a read! I can’t put into words how incredible this book is! I’ve read many books in this genre, but there was just something about this read that made it that much better! Let’s start off by saying how eye-catching and captivating just the front cover is if this doesn’t draw you immediately then read the synopsis which I guarantee will make you not want to put the read down!

I was absolutely captivated from the very beginning with its amazing storyline that’s got action, adventure, danger & romance. To top it all off the characters that this author has created are one of a kind, especially Xenobia. They all feel so real, lovable and relatable as though I was there alongside them experiencing it all with them, I absolutely loved following their journey/story in this read and didn’t want it to end!

While there was a lot of storyline I never once got lost within it, it flowed effortlessly and I couldn’t put it down!

There is one downfall with this book… I now have to wait for book 2. This book is a definite must read and I highly recommend it too all! Naomi Valkyrie you have truly outdone yourself!

The Rise of House Valdis (House Valdis Book 1) by Naomi Valkyrie was a great read and a fantastic start to the series. It is different and unique, interesting and fun, I loved it. I love the way it is told in multiple POV’s as it is the perfect way to get a true feel for the characters. I was blown away by Naomi’s unique narrative that brought the characters and their world to life. It popped off the page taking me on a journey that is easily imagined and full of fantasy and magic and paranormal and supernatural beings. Well done Naomi on your debut book.

Xenobia is strong and kickass but has a heart of gold when it comes to the people she loves. When danger comes knocking, she does whatever it takes to keep them safe.

I look forward to more from this author and this series.

I have so many thoughts after reading this author’s debut novel and I’m not sure how to put it all into words, so will try this:

What I loved –
I opened this book prepared for confusion, because debut novels a lot of times do this to me as an author settles in to their comfort zone, but what I love is that the writing felt like I was sitting at a table with this author and she was literally talking to me and telling me this story. That was awesome!

I also loved that I dont choose this genre yet found myself not being able to put this book down.

I loved that the absolutely beautiful cover made me one click but the authors words kept me totally invested in this story and the characters.

Speaking of the characters, Xen was Awesome! I loved her inner dialogue and her strength throughout all that was changing in her life.

I loved how easy and smooth this book felt and I enjoyed every word while reading it in one sitting.

What I didnt love –

ummmm…The next book is not available yet….

Yep that’s it …I can not recommend this book enough and I can not wait to read more from this author.

Outstanding job!!

This book was great! I was sucked in from the very first page and I didn’t want to put it down until I got to the very last page. The authors writing was good and she made her characters so relatable and they came alive on the pages. Xen is the main character and she gets her second chance to start her life over on earth. She soon realizes that danger is growing nearer, her secrets could be exposed. She is a great character and I loved her from the beginning. I am very impressed that this is the authors debut novel and I am looking forward to reading future books by her!
I would recommend this book to a friend!

The story Journey’s Through SpaceTime (Journey’s Through Book 1) by James Talisman is an amazing read. It hooks you in from the beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. The book has many different characters. I love how the author pays attention to detail when writing about what the characters are doing or where they are visiting at the time. I felt like I was right there with them on their journey. The book has action, danger, mystery, betrayal, and will keep you guessing as to what will happen next. I was turning pages to find out. I enjoyed reading about the characters and their stories. The way that they were written about had me caring about what happened to them. I felt a connection to many of them as they are introduced, and you learn more about them. This is a book that has several narratives and I enjoyed how each one was presented. This looks to be the first book in a series, and I can’t wait to read the next story. I highly recommend this book.

What a kickoff to what I know is going to be a great new series. I will start this by saying this is not my go to genre but when a synopsis grabs my attention I have to read it, and this did that and so much more.
I absolutely loved this book. The characters were so well thought out and I never once felt lost or confused, even with the changing of character voices we follow, as they’re laid out of who is speaking.
Xenobia was a great character to kick this book off with, what a main leading lady.
I cannot wait for more from this debut author, and i want to say so much more but if we follow Xenobia and her girls some more I am all in. Adding to my waiting to buy list.

I absolutely loved this first book by Naomi Valkyrie! It completely hooked me from the very beginning and its definitely one of those books that has a complete original storyline! The characters are what make this story. It’s multiple POV but there is so much depth to each of them. My favorite part is the one split second decision she makes and it starts a spiral of events that could expose who she is.

This is the first book in the Valdis series and I’m impatiently waiting for more.

What an amazing book to read. It includes the paranormal, paranormal creatures, and the situations that they face. One of the reasons I loved the book so much are the characters. At the top of that list is Xenobia. She is smart, independent, and stubborn. She is also kind and protective of those she cares about. Will she be able to face the danger before her and accept her new role and the responsibility that goes with it? Read this book to find out. I found the story is fast-paced and once started hard to put down. There are other characters that I enjoyed reading about such as Xen’s bestie, Maggie. The author writes.in such a way I felt I was right there with the characters. Don’t miss out on a story that is entertaining and intriguing. I highly recommend it.

The Rise of House Valdis by Naomi Valkyrie is a brilliant debut novel that for me is a must read by anyone who enjoys this genre.
The description of this book caught my attention immediately however the book itself was so much better than I expected it would be. I loved the way the author used short but effective chapters – this made it so much easier to squeeze in a chapter here and there in between a busy week!!!
I absolutely loved the character Xen. She is everything that you want a female lead to be. She is such a strong and interesting character – definitely me favourite one in the book.
I enjoyed every moment of this book and I ho early cannot wait to see what else this author does in the future.

So I grabbed this book not knowing what it would be about, how many pages, etc. I thought it was going to be a GOT type of story. It is not BUT IT IS JUST AS GOOD!!!!

The story is written in a very unique narrative, the chapters are super short and each is told in a different voice. I still don’t know how many pages there are – I tried to read it all at once but I had to go to work. I finished it at lunch and I am very grateful I don’t have to punch a time-clock because sometimes being an adult is hard.

Ok, without giving anything away I will tell you the following:

A. This is a clean book, there was no cussing and no sex
B. The protagonist is a strong female who lifts women up instead of holding them down
C. There are a few interesting fellows
D. This book see its characters take almost a “spiritual” journey to new self awareness.
E. It is very visually written and I was transported into the book watched it like a movie

I look forward to reading more in this series (please tell me this is a series). I’m going to check the author’s other books to add to my WTR (want to read) list.

Xen was given a second chance to start over on Earth. Who knew that one decision could expose so much for her. Now danger is near, will she have to expose her secret? She is a great character that has some trust issues and could use a boost in self reassurance, I loved her. This is a must read.

The Rise of House Valdis by Naomi Valkyrie is the first book in the House Valdis series. This is a new author for me so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I am delightfully surprised to have found a new author to keep an eye on. This story has a lot going on and I do not want to give anything away. Xenobia has a secret she has held onto for 7 years and it comes out when she has to save her friend Maggie. What will happen now that someone knows her secret?
The characters are really interesting and I like the otherworldly and paranormal elements. I also enjoy a story that leaves me wanting more of the characters and plot and that is what this author has done for me.

Journeys Through SpaceTime (Journeys Through Book 1) by James Talisman – Review by Erin Wolf

Journeys Through SpaceTimeJourneys Through SpaceTime by James Talisman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I give Journeys Through SpaceTime (Journeys Through Book 1) by James Talisman, 5 stars.

This book takes individuals from many different worlds and links them together by one thing — they all have a mysterious voice they hear in their heads saying the exact same thing. Then thry each have to remember why they are hearing this voice. Each one of these characters is completely different and each one is dealing with a separate issue at the same time. Not only do the all have the same belief system, they are facing some sort of evil unique to their individual situations. That is the very basic outline of the story, put into a science fiction type of story.

The world building the author has created is absolutely incredible. There are multiple people in multiple worlds, and they are all created so well, you can picture yourself there. That is the goal of most fantasy/science fiction authors and this author nailed it. Then there are the characters. Again, each and everyone unique, with their own personalities and issues. These are not just flat placeholders to help the story along, the are very real.

Then there is the story itself. Actually, it is really like many stories in one book. To me, each person could easily have their own book. But the author rotates back and forth among the characters, making you wait to see what will happen next. But it is done so well, it does not feel forced or broken up at all. I was drawn into each story and could not wait to finish it. Of course, I have my favorites, but really, I would love to see them all again in future books.

While this book is definitely complex, the storytelling is phenomenal and I recommend to fans of science fiction and fantasy.

This book drew me in from the beginning. The character descriptions and world building was absolutely mesmerizing. I was taken on a wonderful adventure into a multiverse with such great detail that I felt like I was there. This book is definitely not a quick read, it’s a book that you need to pay attention to. The author did an extraordinary job intertwining and connecting the worlds and characters into a fantastic story. I have actually read this book twice already because I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss any details and I loved it just as much the second time around. Journeys Through SpaceTime (Journeys Through Book 1) by James Talisman is an Amazingly written Sci-Fi Fantasy that takes you on a very interesting journey. I’m going to be honest I wasn’t sure exactly what a multiverse was until looking it up. I even had to ask for clarity. But with that aside I truly enjoyed this book. I had my moments where I was a little confused but the more I read the more everything started to make sense. The world building just simply blew me away, I was hooked and had a hard time putting it . This is a “ thinking” book and had my brain in overdrive. If you enjoy time travel and multiverse with alittle suspense then I highly recommend reading this book. I see myself reading this book several times. I’ll preface this by saying this is not a genre I read a lot, but the cover and synopsis made it to where I couldn’t pass it up. While I enjoyed the book, it was something very new to me as I had no clue what a multiverse really was until this.
Wonderful writing had me not wanting to put it down, and it painted some great pictures in my mind. I will say I had to write down who was who as I couldn’t keep names straight but that may have just been me and the distractions of my children.
All in all if this is your genre of choice, you’ll absolutely love it, and if you like great writing and storytelling this is also the book for you. I am looking forward to more from this author as if this is his debut novel, I can’t imagine what the next will be like with how well this was written. Congratulations on your debut novel!

Journeys Through SpaceTime (Journeys Through Book 1) is an outstanding debut novel from James Talisman. In my opinion you would never believe that this was the work of a brand new author. I was majorly impressed by the standard of the writing.
I have never been a fan of science fiction before but have recently started to enjoy books in the fantasy genre. Due to this, I was intrigued by the blurb on this book and wanted to give it a try and I’m so glad that I did as I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Having read the first couple of ‘chapters’ I was really worried that I was going to struggle with the amount of characters, countries, races, galaxies etc as there is a lot of information to digest but this worry was unfounded. The author writes very clearly and concisely and keeps you well on track with what is going on. The writing is very descriptive and detailed and you can imagine exactly what going on. Please note, if you are going to read this book, there is a lot of bloodshed and violence. I admit to having shivers at some of the more gruesome scenes.
This book will take you on an epic adventure full of danger and intrigue, you won’t want to put it down.

I will say this is not a book you can just breeze through, you actually have to pay attention to get the full story. There are tons of characters and tons of worlds and they all intertwine. Its amazing when you realize how things all come together. I loved the handy dandy guide at the beginning because I kept going back to it! The descriptions of all the worlds and characters make you feel like you’ve been there and know all the characters. You go from Earth to alien worlds with the turn of a page and you feel as if you’ve actually traveled there. Do yourself a favor and grab a copy of this book and get lost in it. ‘Journeys Through SpaceTime’ is the debut novel, and first instalment in the ‘Journeys Through’ series by James Talisman. This sci-fi/fantasy story has so much going on in it and quite a lot of characters to keep track of. The storyline is multi-layered and complex, with multiple worlds and time-lines. The weaving of the story takes us on an action-packed adventure- where good vs evil, danger abounds, hidden agendas come to light, and a bit of ‘political’ manoeuvring takes place.
As this story spans space, and time- and introduces various principles/concepts to do with consciousness, universal energy and wisdom- it begins to build and explain the dynamics of this MultiVerse. The story is told from multiple points of view- which gives the reader a fully immersive reading experience whilst helping us to better understand the dynamics of each ‘layer’ of the storyline.
The story has a mysteriousness to it which definitely adds to the overall intrigue. It’s very interesting, if not a little wordy in places. All the ‘action’ in the various ‘worlds’, and with so many characters playing their part in this epic story; as well as all the switching back and forth between worlds and POV’s- made things a little confusing for me in the beginning. But as I got more of a handle on the story, characters, and flow- I really enjoyed the journey.
There are factors of the story which had a ‘Roman Legion’ feel, while other parts felt more Egyptian- with space and technological components, some Japanese Samurai like elements; as well as delving into some spirituality and consciousness concepts, & then the space and time factors, and conspiracies/plots/hidden agendas thrown in for good measure- and this story really took off. It will both captivate you, while making you think.
There is plenty of suspenseful moments which had me flipping the pages to discover how everything would play out. I loved that while a few of the threads were tied up at the end- we are left knowing that there is more to come- and plenty more to discover and unravel in the following instalment/s.
I am looking forward to continuing this journey and watching the story evolve.
Well done!

Thank you, Mr. Talisman!

WOW…Just WOW… Until reading this book I had never heard, read or even knew about a multiverse genre. I actually had to ask what a multiverse was. Let me start by saying I don’t read sci fi and although my mind has not been changed and I won’t be searching for more multiverse or sci fi books in general, I must be completely honest and say that I seriously got into this book and will be searching out more from this author. I did not understand a lot and got lost many times because I was like all over space and I’ll admit I got really confused as there was a lot of moving parts to this story. There were also many many characters involved and keeping them all straight was a bit hard at times.

In saying all of that, this book was written beautifully and when I was able to concentrate only on this book I was able to keep things straight and what told me it was an outstanding story was that I usually listen to alot of my books using text to speech, I could not do that with this book because it needed my complete focus and I wanted to give it my complete focus and I did. The writing was so precise and I could tell a lot of care went into forming every word and every sentence.

Now in saying all of that…I’m going to read it again, it’s the first of a series and I am invested enough that I really need the second one and do hope to see some of my favorites return but now that I have enough of the story planted in my mind I want to go back and try to grasp some of the details I was a bit confused on, so thats my plan before the second one comes out.

I can only imagine that a true scifi fan will absolutely put this book within their top favorites and even those that don’t read this genre will absolutely love it!

Speaking of Charcters, they all were fantastic. I’m having a hard time picking a favorite because they’re all great and have their own awesomeness about them. This is a SciFi book that takes us to different worlds, and the author has a handy Dandy guide at the beginning of the book that helps with the who’s who. A book full of suspenseful awesomeness, I enjoyed traveling through space time and I am looking forward to reading more by this author in the future. I would recommend this to anyone that likes Science Fiction books!
Happy Reading!

Journeys Through SpaceTime (Journeys Through Book 1) by James Talisman – Review by Heather Lovelace

Journeys Through SpaceTimeJourneys Through SpaceTime by James Talisman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When I read the blurb for this book, I was immediately intrigued. I dove into the pages with anticipation and am so very glad I found this new author.

To say the world building is epic might be an understatement. Talisman takes us on a journey through space and time (no pun intended). In fact, the world building was done on such a level that likened itself, in my estimation, to Terry Goodkind and Terry Pratchett.

Fantasy lovers, you will be enthralled by the characters you are introduced to and how everything interconnects. Truthfully, the level of detail I found in the pages I am not sure I will fully appreciate until I have read the story for a second and third time.

Talisman is truly gifted and has presented readers with a brand new universe to dive headlong into. I cannot wait to devour the pages again and slip back into the world that lay in its pages.

Journeys Through SpaceTime (Journeys Through Book 1) by James Talisman – Review by Jonell Collins

Journeys Through SpaceTimeJourneys Through SpaceTime by James Talisman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Journeys Through Space Time, by James Talisman, was an interesting journey. It is a thinking book. I found I had to read it in small installments. Or maybe I just think too much. I felt a need to think about some of the things in the story. Many actors on this stage and many acts. I feel the need to read it again because I get the feeling when I come to the end that I have missed something. Most stories when you get to the end you expect them to be all tied up in a bow. Not this one. It leaves you thinking long after you’ve read the last page. I hope this author is well on his way to many more good stories.
