This was a fun and quick read! Olivia has been invited to her ex husband’s wedding in Belize. She is feeling frumpy with twenty extra pounds, not very confident, and also perimenopausal. But she decides to go to support her kids. Holly, her daughter and Hannah, her new college roommate, think it is a good idea to set her up with a fake date for the wedding week. Roman, Hannah’s dad, is a professional hockey player and the oldest player in the league. He would do anything for Hannah since he has been absent for a lot of her childhood while on the road, so he says yes. The week in Belize is amazing, the walks, the sunsets, the laughter, and even the romance. I loved the characters, I loved the idea and story line, I loved the location, and I didn’t want it to end! It was nice to read a romance book where the characters were not in their twenties and have lived some life. I devoured this book in a day and will now be looking up the rest of the books written by these authors!

Wow, are you ready for a roller coaster ride of lies, intense situations, deceit, dark pasts, corruption, bullying, questions and hard truths and decisions that will be made hard to make….the twists and turns……this story of Shane and Winter…I did not see coming from a mile away. Wicked Games is book #7 in the fabulous Hidden Valley Elite Series and I highly recommend reading this series from the beginning as the characters are entwined in each book building more and more in the story lines….all I can say is Wow…..this author is truly talented and I love that she continues to amaze me with each book in the series.
Shane is a star athlete at Thane University and trying to balance school and athletics while trying to compromise with his father. Hired as a bodyguard to help protect a female, things do not go as planned while trying to protect her that lands him in hot water. While trying to fight for freedom, and getting back to life, he runs into the new girl at college……and he knows who she is automatically…no other than Winter….a girl he knew since elementary school. The rage and anger can only stem with the need of revenge from past hurts….but what happens when Shane gets to know Winter in a different light…
Winter, new student at Thane University, is trying to find her way being on her own at college since being raised by her wonderful foster parents. Winter never expects to fall for Shane in the most unexpected ways….but keeps her past inside as her past. The past is coming around haunting Winter at every corner, but nothing prepares Winter when she finds out who the true Shane is. Will Shane and Winter be able to overcome their past hurts and scandals?
I loved this book so much and I cannot wait until I know more about Winter and Shane in Wicked Ends!! This is a fabulous series and I cannot get enough.

As an avid reader, I always give a book at least 50 pages before I consider stopping reading. The warning about the book being a LGBT thriller didn’t stop me. The story does move a bit slow in the beginning but it’s also been a while since I read a western themed book, so I figured I needed to read it. Story of Fenimore James running away to become an outlaw kept my attention. Setting out to find adventures turns in to a learning experience for Fenimore James. The author did a wonderful job of world building and character development.

Hayden and Ross’s story is a great story. The DDLG dynamic isn’t my cup of tea, but I do know enough of the dynamic, to say that this was written wonderfully. Brought back into Ross’s life, he finds a letter from Hayden, begging for help. The last time he had seen Hyden was when she was driving away on the back of his littler brother’s bike. Finding out that his little brother was the reason why Hayden and her daughter in trouble boils Ross’s blood. He goes to rescue her and her daughter. But sometimes, the past doesn’t stay in the past. Recognizing that Hayley is a middle, his Daddy Dom kicks in and helps Hayley try to heal the trauma that was done to her. There are some TW’s so I suggest checking the author’s website to see if this is the book for you!

The young boy Fenimore James, the dreamer of his farming family can’t stop the dreams. Fenimore packs his belongings and heads out West in search of a new lifestyle. A lifestyle of an outlaw. He quickly realizes that life on the run is really not what he dreamed. Since Fenimore left home he has been having nightmares many nights. Many nights he saw a man in black standing over him. Fenimore though does end up saving more than one of his fellow gang members’ lives. Fenimore is well-read and uses what he has learned from the books to help him survive and try to solve the mystery murderer. One by one members of the gang are being murdered. This is the first book have read by this author and it was definitely an interesting read. Yet it was an amazing story. The story hooks you right from the start.

Winter and Shane… they’re wicked! Shane remembers how terrible Winter was to him in the past, yet he’s drawn to her now and he can’t explain why. Add this to the issues Shane can’t seem to shake with his granddad and father and it’s enough to send his mind reeling. Throw in a jealous fling too. Nothing about Shane’s life is normal right now. Winter has lived a life filled with trauma and it doesn’t seem to be getting better anytime soon. Eventually she may need to face her past, including those she wronged. Like the rest of the series, this book ends in a serious cliffhanger! And I’m anxiously anticipating the end of the series despite not being ready to let go of the characters anytime soon. You could start with Wicked Games, but you really should start at the very begging of the series.

Hot Flashes and Hockey Slashes (Hot Flash Hookups Book 1) by Marika Ray and Sylvie Stewart. This book is hilarious and I could relate with the hot flashes 100%. Its the story of Olivia who is going thru Perimenopause and has been invited to her Ex’s destination wedding. She can’t go single without looking like a loser so her daughter sets her up with her friends dad. Its just supposed to be a pretend date though. Roman is a a professional hockey player and will do anything in his power to make his daughter happy so when she asks him to pretend to be her best friends date he’s all for it. He has issues with women in his past so he’s not looking for a relationship so this will be easy. Or so he thinks! The more time they spend together and the more chaos they find sparks fly between them. This is such a funny, romance about a 40 something woman and all the challenges that age brings. I laughed out loud several times!

Nightmares, memories, truth revealed. Oh lordy, the past month has gone so fast yet so slow as I eagerly awaited book one of the final duology in this series. Since the very beginning, Savage Start, back in February. Something about Shane was always so mysterious, we got nuggets here and there throughout the past eight books (counting the two prequels) but finally it is Shane’s turn to take center stage. Shane Bennett, at the end of Cruel Love, was arrested for involuntary manslaughter and from page one we discover the encounter that led to that scar in his psyche. Six months of being a bodyguard for fellow Thane student Erica led to the moment he saw all his dreams disappear, but security tapes prove his story, and he is clear only for things to get worse. Winter Patten, after eight years she has returned to where it all began or in a sense where it all ended. Her father died, her sister murdered by their mother and her mother arrested and sentenced to ten years in prison. The Childress family, mom Brooke, dad James, and son Jaxon, took her in showing her what a real family was and what love truly is. Just transferring to Thane, where Jaxon attends, she is ready to start facing some of her nightmares and digging more into her past. In the first moment they see each other as adults everything changes. Winter sees someone she wants to intimately get to know. Shane is slammed with the nightmares of fifth grade, and Winter pushing him to the edge to the point he wrote a “note” and was ready to end it all. Only Phoenix was able to bring him back from the edge but not without a side effect in the way of a stutter that he had as a child. Nothing will stop Shane from making Winter pay for what she did to him. Will Winter’s mom be granted parole at her first board meeting? Once again Isla Vaughn keeps her hooks deep in your soul with this next book in the Hidden Valley Elite series. The world is well developed and yet still morphing as the characters’ stories progress and more details are given. This was the perfect read for a warm spooky day, and not just because I had been waiting for it to finally release. Now the long wait for how Shane and Winter maneuver their circumstances and ultimately overcome them for the happy ever after at the end of, Wicked Ends, November 30th, 2023.

Wow what a great start to a series I know is going to be Amazing! . It is such a fun read with great characters, a fantastic storyline, plenty of funny banter as well as steamy and melt your heart moments. I had so many laugh out loud moments that my family was starting to question my sanity LOL. I have to admit I read it in a day because it made me so happy and I couldn’t put it down. Elena Santoro promises her mom that she will do everything she can to fulfill her dying wish…exact revenge on the person who killed her brother. Elena’s siblings can’t imagine that she agreed to carry out their mother’s dying wish and they really hope that she’ll change her mind. Elena is bound and determine to keep her mother’s wish, however.
Sean Mitchell is looking for his sister, who has changed her name. She’s a bit of a wild child and is nowhere to be found. At first, Sean thinks she’s just run off again but more information leads him to believe that his sister has been abducted.
When Elena sees Sean again, she remembers that it was HIS name mentioned by her dying brother. Does she have the wherewithall to carry out the request she promised or will she cave to Sean’s gorgeous looks?
This was a good read that included a historical background. The storyline kept my interest. While this is part of a series, I read it as a standalone. I’m curious to read the previous books in this series as well as any to follow.

Brian and Amanda have become one of my favorite novel couples. Whew, the chemistry with these two. I was rooting for them no doubt. Brian meets a goddess just to find out it is his best friend’s sister. They go a long time avoiding each other. It is a slow burn. Brian with his playboy reputation, slowly wins our heart. He is wounded by memories which has caused some commitment issues. Seeing his character mature over time in the book was my favorite part. Watching a genuine love develop between the characters that isn’t based on sexual attraction although it is there. It was based more on the friendship that had developed and their mutual respect they have for each other. Great read!

This book is everything you could want from a fake romance story. And for me, it was made even better by the fact that that main character was aliggtly older. The whole book was full of laughter. It was entertaining, fun and had two great characters. Sylvie Stewart is an author I am very familiar with however, Marika Ray is a new author me. Reading her work in a collaboration like this is a great introduction. Their combines writing style pulled me into the story effortlessly and I already know I will be reading more. What a great start to a new series. Bring on Book 2!

This book was so hard to put down!!! The suspense kept me wanting to read more and before I realized it, it was 4am. You would think you would know how it would end, but then the author throws you a curve ball and it is changed! The romance is amazing and helps add some spark to the story and helps give it some flare too.
I love the story line and how it starts out slow and then starts to climax slowly before ending with a big dramatic ending! You always think it will be one person, then it will be someone totally different. Becky Flade definitely has some talent with her writing and is very creative. This book would be great for even teenager girls to read as it is age appropriate.
This is the first book in this new series for these authors. What a great start it is and I look forward to seeing what is next in this series. This is a well written story that is full of romance and steam. If you enjoy reading a single dad, hockey player romance story, this book is for you. The characters pulled me in from the start. They are connectable and I enjoyed watching their growth and chemistry. Their story is what happens when a hockey player and a fake date come together into something they never see coming. This is a fast paced story that is hard to put down. An easy romance story to read that is engaging and one that kept me turning pages to the end. I really enjoyed this story and I highly recommend it.

This is a very cute romantic comedy that will have you swooning for the MMC and commiserating with the FMC all while laughing out loud. Olivia has been invited to her ex-husband’s wedding (to a much younger woman) and her kids decide to set her up on a fake date with aging hockey star, Roman, so that she doesn’t have to attend the event (in Belize, no less) alone. We get to follow along between Olivia and Roman (it’s a dual perspective…YAY!) from beginning, middle, and end as the adventure happens. It’s a super cute story and I love the way the authors work together to create a seamless tale of life, love, and happily-ever-after.

I am LOVING this whole series!!! I can’t wait to read them all! If you haven’t read the others in this series I personally suggest that you do. You don’t NEED to, but trust me when I say you will WANT to. Not only does it give you so many great books to read!! But they also, all give you SO MANY insights into all the other characters and what leads up to this story. When they mention certain people or things you won’t know everything and you’ll miss some great bits!! Trust me just read them all! PLUS the prequels! Again, those are not NEEDED, but they give you some back story each time that I personally really enjoyed. I really hate and love that you are left on a cliffhanger with each book. I hate it because I have to wait for the next one, but I love it because it keeps you clutched into their series wanting more and more. The author, I’m sure, gets this all the time!! Wicked Games is about Winter and Shane. They went to school when they were younger. Before Winter’s life imploded and she moved away. Shane remembers her though and he can’t get past that she was so horrible to him. Now they’re at Thane University together. Shane comes up with a plan for revenge. Pretending to be someone named Landon, he starts to “date” Winter. Winter is at University to work through some things in her personal life. Memories in nightmares that she can’t seem to understand. Memories that she’s scared to even understand. Winter was warned to stay away from Shane, but she just can’t seem to stay away from him. He has this grip around her soul and she can’t place it or him! As they get to know each other and things heat up they both start to really enjoy each other. Unfortunately, things never work the way you plan. I won’t say more because I don’t want to spoil anything, but trust me!! Read this WHOLE series!!!!

Here we are at Shane and Winter’s story, this is one twisted tale. Shane hit a guy to protect a girl and he’s dead. Winter’s sister drowned and she’s accused of doing it. Lies, deceit, hidden secrets, stalker, and so much more, this author will have you buy the heck gripped in her story. She’ll have you right from the beginning so engaged that you won’t want to come up for air. I couldn’t put the story down. There is a cliffhanger!!! I’m eagerly awaiting book 2 of this set.

This is one of the funniest rom-com’s I’ve read this year. They had me laughing so hard. Roman is the kind of man many of us that are perimenopausal or post-menopausal want. He was taking her to the spa and doing all these nice things and he loves his daughter. He’s my kind of man, especially in a hot flash. I loved the story. I loved the characters. Evie is a beautiful bff to have. She had her back. Great book and I enjoyed every minute of it. I cannot wait for the next one.

Oh, this is just as good as the others in the series have been. An intense and dark at times story, there are topics that are hard to read about in here. Our two main characters are somehow made for each other yet shouldn’t be together. The challenge is that they won’t let that stop them. The story is fantastic. It is nonstop action. It is dark, romantic, troubled and yet, there is light at the end of the tunnel. The characters are very well-developed. Grandma Moreno is the one that sticks out to me. She has persevered through much and is like the matriarch of the bunch. I look forward to what is next in the series.

This is quite the intriguing romance novel. A historical romance set during the gold rush, it’s action packed and full of very interesting characters. Elena is seeking her brother’s killer. The question is, can she kill the man she loves? Sean is hunting for his missing sister. Can he trust Elena to help him? Not normally a historical reader of any kind, I found this author’s writing to be quite enjoyable. Her writing is engaging and makes you feel like you are part of the story. This is truly an important piece when you are reading. For me, it’s the make or break for a book. This is a must read.
Hot Flashes and Hockey Slashes is a steamy Romantic Comedy and the first book in the Hot Flash Hookups series by two wonderful authors Marika Ray & Sylvie Stewart. I love that older women and life changes are being written about and these two do it so well. I found myself laughing out loud at the banter between all the characters. It had me eagerly turning the pages as we journey along to one woman’s plight and a new chapter in her life. What could be more fun than menopause, a wedding, a tropical island, a fake sexy date, and some flirty and sexy times. It certainly wasn’t on her radar. The heat is definitely turned up in this feel-good tale. The story is well paced, and the characters are well developed, honest and very realistic that I could totally relate to. It is told in several POV’s, which I love. It is a little quirky and the characters will find their way into your heart. Hot Flashes and Hockey Slashes is funny and full of witty banter and will definitely leave you with a light heart and a smile on your face. If you are looking for a great story full of drama, romance, love and laughter then look no further.

Sweet Vengeance is the third book in the historical Mission Belles series. I read this book before I knew there were two books before it, but I didn’t feel like I was missing out. However, I do encourage you to start with the first book Shadow of the Fox. I will be going back to see what I missed.
This is my first time reading this authors work. I am not usually a fan of historical romance, but Pamela’s writing style is compelling, and the story intriguing and I was not disappointed.
Set in the gold rush period in San Francisco this page turning plot driven story is action-packed with plenty of plot twists that it will leave readers wanting more.
This is Elena and Sean’s story.
Elena is used to danger. She is on a mission to find the man who destroyed her family. Revenge is so sweet she can taste it. He’s the archenemy but she soon finds them both in a far more dangerous position than her first quest.
Sean doesn’t trust easily his past has trained him not to and he certainly doesn’t trust her. However, when a known enemy is on the hunt, he finds them both smack dab in the middle of a dangerous game of cat and mouse.
Pamela weaves a dangerous tale where chaos reigns, escaping a dangerous foe means life or death, lies and secrets come to the fore and enemies become lovers, but there is also a lot more going on.
If you love a historical enemies to lovers trope with revenge and danger, tension and suspense that is palpable then this is a book for you.
Beware: This book contains mature content that some readers may find disturbing. I have been waiting for this book. Wicked Games is the first book in Shane and Winter’s duet and an enemies-to-lovers, new adult, collegial bully romance. It is the seventh book in the Hidden Valley Elite series. We got introduced to the characters way back in the first book Savage Start. This dark and scandalous tale is full of angst, drama, dark lies, secrets, jealousy, bullying and so much more. It is as intriguing as it is intense, and the fury and hatred is palpable. She is living a nightmare over and over again. Now she has met him she should stay away but she is ensnared. He is one of the dark and dangerous Elite, the Academy’s football stars, privileged boys who rule on and off the ground. Those who play to win and anyone who stands in their way is taken down. They play dangerous games where lies and lives are at stake. You do not want to be on their radar. I have said it before with the other books but will say it again, there are characters you will love to hate and others you will hate to love and others you just want to lead them into the flames. It is intense and intriguing and hard to put down to actually do some work. Thank God it is a short read. They are playing a dangerous game where lies and lives are at stake. There are characters you will like but there are those who you just want to rip to pieces. I look forward to more.

4.5 stars Beware: This book contains sexual content, profanity, violence, mentions of suicide, and eating disorder. Recommended for 18+. I have been waiting patiently to read this book. The Inquisitor is just as fantastic as the other books and dare I say my favourite. Although I am pretty sure I thought that about the others in the WaterFyre Rising series. In this the fourth book we get Kiera’s and Forrest’s story. They are fully realised with a complexity to them. It is told in dual POVs which I love as I love getting the inside thoughts of the characters instead of it being one sided. This second chance romance is over 400 pages but that soon flies by as you become lost in Nadia’s narrative because it has a little of everything. The suspense, intrigue and mystery are intricately and cleverly woven together by Nadia to give the reader an intense read. The engaging plot had me engrossed and eagerly turning the pages waiting to see how it all unfolds. The story is full of human trafficking, danger and deadly secrets, lies and drama, tragedy, angst and let’s not forget the steamy romance.
Forrest is living a life that has kept him in the dark side of life. He knows he shouldn’t, but she is his light, but she is off limits. I look forward to seeing what Nadia gives us next.

5 Stars The Mating Haze (Long Call Pride) by Brooke May
The Mating Haze (Long Call Pride) is a Paranormal Romance that will pull you in from the beginning and doesn’t let go till the end. I’ve read other books by this author but this one might just be my favorite yet. The story line flows and the characters are fun, creative, fully developed and made it easy to feel like you were apart of the story. The chemistry between the two is off the charts.i highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I’m looking forward to reading more from this Author.

Author of eight books on California history and twenty romance novels, Pamela Gibson is a former City Manager who lives in the Nevada desert. Having spent several years messing about in boats, a hobby that included a five-thousand-mile trip in a 32-foot Nordic Tug, she now spends most of her time indoors happily reading, writing, cooking and keeping up with the antics of Ralph, the Rescue Cat.
He’s a hot, shirtless hockey player…and he’s my fake date for my ex-husband’s wedding. Talk about a hot flash to beat all hot flashes.
The wedding bells are ringing and my ex-husband is the groom! When my grown kids hook me up with a fake date to my ex-hubby’s tropical island nuptials, I expect sun, sand, and plenty of fruity cocktails—not steamy nights with a shirtless pro hockey player!
Roman might be all swagger on the ice, but this growly, egotistical male model of perfection has a soft side too. While I battle dresses made for twenty-somethings, awkward run-ins with my ex, and unwelcome hot flashes, Roman is there to distract me with flirty compliments, stay up late with me when I can’t sleep, and make me feel vibrant and ageless.
As good as it feels, none of this is real, and Roman is way out of my league. Who’s going to believe this gorgeous, famous, muscle-bound athlete would ever date a scatterbrained, hot-flashing, insomniac nerd with twenty stubborn extra pounds around the middle?
But as the big day approaches, we grow closer. Wedding activities lead to beach walks at sunset, and his oh-so-talented fingers twist my hormones up in a whole new way. Gazing into Roman’s eyes, I start to wonder if he could be my shot at a real happily ever after.
That’s the thing about vacations, though; at some point, you need to return to reality.
Hot Flashes and Hockey Slashes is a single dad pro hockey romance with plenty of spice and a game-winning HEA. It’s the first book in the Hot Flash Hookups series, and can be read as a standalone.

Wicked Games is an enemies-to-lovers, new adult, bully romance with plenty of angst. This book contains mature content that some readers may find disturbing. It is not a standalone and does end in a cliffhanger that continues with a ton of heat and a HEA in Wicked Ends.
