Ignite My Heart (North Fork Series Book 2) by Alicia Street – Review by Tara Johnson Barnes

Ignite My Heart (North Fork Series Book 2)Ignite My Heart by Alicia Street
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ignite My Heart is Book Two in the North Fork Series. It is a contemporary romance full of passion, chemistry, drama, angst, and unexpected love. The story centers around the characters of Morgan and Blake. Morgan is the CEO of a protection agency and is looking for a live-in nanny for his nine-year-old daughter. His movie star ex-wife has suddenly reappeared in their lives wanting to see their daughter but for all the wrong reasons. She is worried about her reputation and wants to parade the child around in front of cameras while playing the doting mommy. Morgan is determined to protect his daughter and does not want her in the public eye which angers his ex, and she threatens to sue him for custody. He decides that he needs a live-in nanny and his friend figures that he has just the right girl for the job.

Enter Blake who is the sister of Morgan’s friend. She is out of work, down on her luck, and has been living rent free in her friend’s cabin in the woods. Blake hates living there and is terrified of being alone, so she tells her brother she plans to get a dog for protection. Her brother invites her over and tells her that he has something for her. Blake thinks that he got her a dog, so she stops to pick up dog biscuits on the way to her brother’s home. She is quite surprised when she sees the sexy stranger in her brother’s home instead of the dog she was expecting. Blake quickly learns the real reason she was invited over and is less than thrilled at the idea of becoming a nanny. With few other options available to her, Blake agrees to take the job. As Blake and Morgan spend time together their attraction grows, and Blake begins to feel like a family. Can they ever be a true family with Morgan’s ex threatening to rip them apart?

This was a beautifully written, heartwarming story with wonderful characters. Morgan was strong, smart, and a doting single dad who would do anything to protect his daughter. Blake never thought that she would have a family of her own nor did she ever see herself as a nanny. She found herself falling for this man and his daughter and felt like she belonged. Morgan’s ex-wife was someone that deserved a slap. Oh my gosh, she was horrendous and self-centered. It was all about her appearance and making herself look good for the cameras regardless of who she hurt along the way. This was a rollercoaster ride of emotions for me as Morgan and Blake navigated the ups and downs in their relationship. I look forward to reading more by this author!

Faking the Fall (Buckeye Falls Book 4) by Libby Kay – Review by Jenni Bishop

Faking the Fall: A Buckeye Falls NovelFaking the Fall: A Buckeye Falls Novel by Libby Kay
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Faking the Fall is the lovely fourth book in the wonderful Buckeye Falls series. The books can be read as a standalone but start at the beginning anyway. You won’t be disappointed because Libby writing style draws you into the world she has created.
We get to reacquaint ourselves with the characters from previous books and the sweet small town and it’s wonderfully fun, nosy, sassy, sweet, quirky, and colourful characters that you just can’t help but fall in love with.
Alice is stubborn, wilful, definitely does not play by the rules, is not a push over, and she says what she thinks. She is however pushed to her limits when the residents decide to play Cupid.
James is looking for peace and quiet and starting over but his patience is tested when the town rally together and make his life miserable.
They decide to fake things and thus the “fun” begins.
This charming tale has it all. It is witty, full of banter, a touch angsty, lots of sexual tension, with a bit of spice and will have you laughing. It is a good read to escape reality for a while.
If you love small town romances, then this series is a must.

Beyond Friendship (The Irresistible Series Book 3) by Marlyn Love – Review byTara Johnson Barnes

Beyond Friendship (The Irresistible Series #3)Beyond Friendship by Marlyn Love
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Beyond Friendship is the third book in The Irresistible Series. It is a slow burn, friends to lovers, contemporary romance full of passion, chemistry, lies, secrets, betrayal, drama, angst, and sexual tension. The story centers around the characters of Brian and Amanda and is told from each of their POV. When Brian first meets Amanda, he is stunned by her beauty and feels an instant attraction to her. He jumps at the chance to play the hero and come to her rescue when he sees her receiving unwanted attention from a gentleman admirer. Amanda is instantly attracted to Brian and the chemistry between them is undeniable. However, as fate would have it Amanda is the sister of his best friend, so Brian puts her in the friend zone and tries to ignore his feelings for her. This might be for the best anyhow because Brian is notorious for having one-night stands with women but refuses to have anyone become close to him. He has very good reasons for not allowing anyone to get too close to him and has been harboring a secret for years that not even his best friends know about. Years go by and Brian and Amanda have been doing their best not to act on their attraction to one another. It is almost unbearable, but Brian feels it is for the best because of the secret he harbors. When his secret is revealed, Amanda stands by his side but is he too damaged for them to have a relationship?

This storyline was intriguing and sucked me in from the first few pages. Instantly I needed to know what would become of the attraction between Amanda and Brian. Would they fall into each other’s arms? Would she be just another one-night stand? Would his best friend be okay with the relationship? It was interesting to see how the tension between Amanda and Brian built and how he had enough respect for her to not follow through with his attraction to her. Then to learn that Brian had reasons for not wanting more than one-night stands with women. Initially, he comes across as a playboy who uses women and tosses them aside. It turns out there was far more to it than that and he guarded his heart closely for very valid reasons. Amanda was sweet, kind, smart, and very understanding when she learned of Brian’s secrets. I loved this slow-burn romance between the characters and how the relationship between them built over time. I look forward to reading more by this author.

Wild Lavender (Heart & Hand Series Book 1) by Nicole E. Kelleher – Review by Chrissy Spulak

Wild Lavender (Heart & Hand, #1)Wild Lavender by Nicole E. Kelleher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was shocked when I learned that this is the author’s first book. I cannot recommend it more highly! It is beautifully written and so easy to get lost in. This historical fantasy romance is perfect for curling up on the couch with a blanket and just losing yourself in the pages. The characters are interesting and relatable, and I could not help but be intrigued by Anna’s story with Roger and then Lark. This book does involve mature themes but was not a problem for me. I found that every aspect of the story made the world that much richer in my mind’s eye. You will find a little bit of everything in this book, and I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Get ready to devour!

You and Me Equals Love by Marina Hanna – Review by Jenni Bishop

You and Me Equals LoveYou and Me Equals Love by Marina Hanna
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

You and Me Equals Love is another wonderful story by Marina. I have enjoyed each and every book I have read by her. This contemporary romance is a standalone and has everything needed to make it a compelling read.

I love how it was written in the multiple POV because it gives the story that much more meaning and understanding of them as people. It’s so easy for the characters to capture your heart and feel invested in them.

Marina has a way of telling a story that makes if feal real. Her writing transports you into the story and the world she has created. I enjoy her sense of humour that comes through in her words and has me laughing out loud. I have said it before, but I will say it again – Marinas words just click, and I can’t get enough.

It is a fun easy read, a tale of friendships and love, letting go of the past and building trust. It is a story of the heart wants what the heart wants, and it is not always what you would like it to be. I know what it’s like to9 want someone who likes someone else.

There is a lot of sass, intense moments, angst and a little drama and some cute times that makes for some fab reading. The story is a little predictable near the ending, but I still really enjoyed it.

This book is perfect read when needing some much needed “me time”.

I can’t wait for what comes next.

This book is a sweet romance story that has a great fake romance as the focus. I really like how this series are all clean and sweet romances as it really makes you focus on the story and the characters. I think the characters in this book are definitely my favourite of the series and the overall book is as good as the others. I thought it was entertaining and I was really engaged with the characters. I wanted everything to work out for the better.
The book was really well written. This author seems to have a knack for connecting with the audience and I always enjoy her work. This book was another great addition to this series and I am looking forward to more.

I have to say I was captivated by this story and the characters right from the very start. I think one big reason is that Blake and Morgan are such well written, relatable characters that they immediately draw you in and hold you captive. Ciara is a sassy little pocket rocket and I loved her too! This is the first book I have read by this talented author and it most definitely won’t be my last. I started this series with book 2 but in no way was my reading experience hinder by that. I will of course now be reading book 1 simply because this author now has a new fan and I want to read all that I can.

Notebook Mysteries ~ A Party to Remember was such a great an easy read to fall into! My last book was super deep and dark and this was exactly what I needed. I was not aware that it was a series, but the author did a wonderful job introducing all the characters in such a way that I was able to keep up but I feel would not have been redundant to those who did not jump right into the middle. A definite page turner, I was captivated all the way from cover to cover. Would definitely recommend!

Morgan is a divorced father with a nine year old daughter. He runs a protective service that trains bodyguards. His bodyguards are out protecting others. When his ex shows up with her entourage to visit, his
hackles go up and he becomes very protective. But will that be enough? Blake is a school teacher. But without a job. She must take all she can get. Becoming a nanny for Morgan’s daughter will only be temporary, or is it? This is another new author for me. My list seems to be growing. But this is one story I am so happy I took a chance on. It has it all, action, twists and turns as well as romance. The characters are perfect for their parts. I must say Ciara is a smart 9 year old. She is sure to let everybody in this story know it, including her mother. The story is well written and with plenty of angst. I love this series, I hope you will too. Now it is time to look for more from this author.

Wild Lavender (Heart & Hand Series Book 1) by Nicole E. Kelleher – Review by Francis O’Sullivan

Wild Lavender (Heart & Hand, #1)Wild Lavender by Nicole E. Kelleher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wild Lavender is the first book in the Heart & Hand series. It’s a beautiful historical fantasy romance with a heroine who resists society’s expectations of her. Adventurous and inquisitive Lady Aubrianne is an enjoyable character, and her love of horses will make her particularly appeal to animal fans out there!

There is, of course, a strong romance story in this book established from the outset where a chance encounter brings Larkin and Aubrianne into each other’s lives. But there is also plenty of action and mystery adding layers to the story!

There are plenty of great characters in this book! One of my favourites is Gilles, the stablemaster. It takes time for Aubrianne to win his trust, but as she and we get to know him he definitely grew on me!

This book gets five stars from me, and I’m keen to read more of the series. I would recommend it to fans of mediaeval fantasy romance, particularly if you love horses!

Alice got a bad rap from her family in the past books because she couldn’t really decide what she wanted to do. Now she has come home and her family, along with the town busybodies (Trudy), have started in. Along comes James, who has an instant attraction to her. She has become his muse. These two have some issues to work out. I loved this story. As things get worked through, Alice suggests they “fake date” each other. This story is so cute and adorable. This series is one of the most adorable romance series I’ve read so I was looking forward to this especially after book 3. Their adventures and misadventures during this time had me chuckling and laughing. From spilling ginger ale to showing paintings to his agent to scarecrows in a diner, this is a romance story that you can’t miss. Old faces are mixed within the story. Alice and Jame’s story will have you rooting for them as the old biddies in town are grumpy and living in the past. You have to read this one. I recommend it highly.

Sins of the Father (The McIntire County Series Book 3) by Winter Austin – Review by Angela Shirley

Sins of the Father (The McIntire County Series: #3)Sins of the Father by Winter Austin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Jolie Murdock is a new deputy in the Eider Police department following in the footsteps of her cousins can she make this her home and find the confidence she has been lacking over the past years. When she is given the disappearance of a missing girl, she goes about trying to find her but when she stumbles across the body of the missing girls father, can she solve the murder, find the girl and help a friend out without losing herself in the process?

Xavier decided to come to Eider to banish old wounds but when he is found over the dead body of the missing girl’s father with no memory of how he has got there, it’s up to him and Jolie to pick through his memory to discover what happened. As Jolie and Xavier investigate the murder more secrets and similarities come out of the woodwork and although Xavier and Jolie are saw her did not kill anyone there is still a doubt in Xavier’s head.

This is the third book in this series, and we shift from the characters in the first two books to a whole new heroine, Jolie at the beginning is trying to find herself and is feeling like she can’t do her job but when she stumbles into a murder her confidence starts to pick up and you see the drive in her to do justice for the victim and the missing girl.

Xavier’s character is interesting, and I love that he is flawed but has the courage to trust that Jolie will get to the bottom of blackout and trust that he is not the murderer, with his history of the military you have a small glimpse into his hurt and brokenness from his service and the horrific injuries he sustained.
The secondary characters as always adds to flow and overall enjoyment of the story, with the fasted pace action and uncovering the secrets and thrilling twists and turns this is another winner in my eyes.
Thank you, Winter, and hope to read book 4 in the future.

Cruel Love (Hidden Valley Elite #6)Cruel Love by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was an amazing book and it was hard to put down. I finished the entire book in a day.

This book is a continuation of Phoenix’s story. There was a major accident that left him without a lot of his memories. Most importantly he forgot about his baby and the woman he knocked up. While he might not remember everyone around him does.

To make matters worse nothing is harder than waking up and not recognizing your own body and who you are now. Phoenix is not used to being calm and not going all out and giving everything his all. Doctors say one thing but sometimes it’s not what you might want to hear.

What happens when you fall for the man with whom you have a love-hate relationship? Will he ever remember that he has a child that is due to entire the world in a few short months? What happens when old family secrets and lies come out at once? Will he push his recovery too hard and lose everything?

Read this book to find out what happens with Phoenix. Will he forever be missing years of his life or will he recover?

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4.5 Stars

Beyond Friendship is the third book in The Irresistible series by Marlyn Love. This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Love, so I really didn’t know what to expect from one of her stories. But the blurb intrigued me, and the beautiful cover sealed the deal- so I snapped up a copy and set off to explore. I have come into this series a little backwards as I didn’t realise that this was the third book in the series when I one-clicked- thankfully it can be read as a standalone. But having said that, I now have a taste for Ms. Love’s writing, and am intrigued by the cast of supporting characters- so I will definitely be going back to read the first two books before continuing on with the series.
This is a beautiful, emotional, angsty, memorable, friends-to-lovers romance… with a brother’s-best-friend/best-friend’s-sister element, chemistry, connection, family, drama, secrets, fate, challenges, and more.
Brian and Amanda were perfect for each other. Fate knew it, they knew it- but they kept dancing around each other for a few years… until one night changes everything- and they take a chance on love.
Looking forward to the rest of the series!
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Marlyn Love!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This author adds another thrilling addition to the series. These sweet romances are deceptive thrillers with killer instincts.

Hannah Patel is a Public Defender. She isn’t doing it for the clout or the politics, definitely not for the money, Hannah is a PD because she feels that everyone deserves a good defense. It has been a rough patch for Hannah. Her family is still grieving the loss of her brother about a year ago, she was punched in open court when a decision didn’t go the way her client thought it should, she had a panic attack in front of a well respected judge, and her stalker left an even more threatening note on her car this morning.

Doyle Murphy, Special Victims Unit Detective, is on sabbatical, trying to decide what he wants to do with his life. After a phone call from a friend, Doyle talks to Hannah about the notes that the stalker has been leaving her. Doyle starts to feel alive again. It has been awhile since he has done police work and his need to protect Hannah is igniting that spark that got doused long ago.

As the stalker starts to escalate, Doyle is slowly unraveling this mystery. But is it soon enough? People in Hannah’s world are getting hurt. All clues are pointing back to her stalker. Is he responsible? It all comes to a fevered pitch when the police arrest someone. But is it the right someone?

The action doesn’t stop. The twists lead to the turns which lead to more twists. This endearing cast of characters seem to be weaving together for something more. Only time will tell! Wonderful series!

Wonderful, beautiful story that spans a few years in the making. Good things take time and this is definitely the story of Brian and Amanda. I loved this book with my every that I have….friendship, drama, secrets, romance and definite roller coaster of emotions with a few tears. This story broke me a bit… I highly recommend this read.

Mr. Batchelor, Brian Fox does not do relationships. He believes he is totally content on being single forever…and forever guarding his heart with high walls that are hard to penetrate. When he meets this beautiful lady at his club, not knowing that he finds out that she is the sister of his best friend. Amanda returns home to Boston to try and make it on her own with her own business of having her own fashion boutique. What Amanda does not expect is to experience the undeniable chemistry between her and Brian from the start. Brian puts on all stops not to date or be in any romantic relationship with Amanda due to her being her best friends sister……..just remaining strictly friends. Years pass and the courage of Brian taking a leap of faith to go beyond that friendship with Amanda forms this beautiful love between them….but Brian cannot let go of a secret that he has been hiding, afraid to being vulnerable….but when a harsh reality of a potential medical issue and loss…..Brian pushes away people that he truly loves especially Amanda. Will grief and sadness overcomes Brian or will the power of love and strength bond Brian and Amanda that will never break….

Definitely read and find out………..this was a fantastic story……

Beyond Friendship (The Irresistible Series Book 3) by Marlyn Love – Review by Beverly Finnie

Beyond Friendship (The Irresistible Series #3)Beyond Friendship by Marlyn Love
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Beyond Friendship pulls at the heat strings. It’s a story of triumphs and tribulations for the characters. The author brings you into a world that everyone is close knit and tight, demonstrating what could happen when 2 people decide to take a risk. Written in a way that keeps the reader intrigued and wanting more.
Amanda and Brian have chemistry that’s out of this world but won’t cross that line. Despite Amanda trying to change that Brian has his reasons.
Best friend’s sister.
A life threatening health condition.
Just to name a few.
Because of that they tiptoe around their feelings and he keeps her in the “friend zone.”
That is until one day when all that changes.
Does it work out between them?
Not every story is sunshine and roses, and the author captures that brilliantly. Keeping you rooting for them, despite their stubborn behavior. You won’t want to stop reading till the end.
I look forward to jumping into other books by this author. And if you are interested in a romance with a figurative wild ride for the characters, this is definitely a book for you! While you check this book out, I’m going to check out books 1 & 2 in there series.

This is my first time reading a story by the brilliant author Alicia Street. This the second book of the North Fork Series. I read this first but it was okay because it can be read as a standalone, I didn’t feel like I was missing any backstories. I truly enjoyed this author’s writing style and how the characters and story came together in the end. Blake and Morgan had so much chemistry between them even though both of them were reluctant to act on it. Also I loved how great Blake and Ciara got along with each other. And man on man Fawn ( Ciara’s mother) is a real piece of work.
I will be going back to read Fire Me Up the first book while i wait for Melt My Heart ( the third one) to come out in a couple weeks 😍

Wild For Me (The Balefire Series Book 3)

I am 100% one of the many girls who had dreams of the rock star being their one true love. So this book and series makes the 16 yr old me from 1989 squeal.

Dakota is the one who swore off relationships and want nothing more than a night with a girl if that long. All of that changes in a moment.

Annabelle and her relationship with her younger sister remind me of my daughters relationship with one another and I loved it.

The Balefire guys are the best. I just do not like Garrett and after being such a jerk I don’t know if he is redeemable or not, but I’m looking forward to finding out.

This was a great 5 star read. My emotions were all over the place with this story. This is Amanda and Brian’s story and my favorite couple so far in this series. Brian is a man who is only looking for one night hook ups but there is one person that catches his attention. Only problem is, she is his best friend’s sister. The author does a great job with their story and I couldn’t read it fast enough. I didn’t want it to be over. There is so much going on, we get steamy moments, LOL moments and so much more. The banter was great between them as well. All of the characters added a great element to the story. I can’t wait to read more from this author and series. 1-click and get started today.

Wild For Me (The Balefire Series Book 3) by Tam DeRudder Jackson – Review by Shannen Kern

Wild For Me (Balefire, #3)Wild For Me by Tam DeRudder Jackson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have absolutely loved this series, and somehow the author has stepped up their game with this book. It’s an emotional ride with plenty of tension, drama, and steamy scenes. Each book really gives you more background for each character, so I recommend beginning with the first book in the series for the full effect. Getting to see Dakota and Annabella go back and forth with each other was incredibly entertaining. I may have yelled at the book a couple times out of frustration, but that is a sign of a truly engaging book. The flow of this story is magnificent just like the ones before it. I highly recommend giving this series a chance and getting to know all of the band members!

Sins of the Father (The McIntire County Series Book 3) by Winter Austin – Review by Julie Johnson

Sins of the Father (The McIntire County Series: #3)Sins of the Father by Winter Austin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Winter Austin knocks another one out of the park with the next story in The McIntire Series!! I do highly recommend reading these in order as the characters build on each other and the back stories will help this story make more sense.

Jolie is a new deputy on the force. She’s got some pretty big shoes to fill as her father was the sheriff previous to the one currently in office. Jolie is still trying to recover from the events with her brother and his subsequent arrest and imprisonment.

Xavier is bartending at the local bar and grill. He’s doing his best to keep his cover under the bar. When he shows up at the wrong place at the wrong time, he’s the only suspect to a murder. Did he do it? He’s not really sure himself.

This is a rapid pageturner!! There is a lot of action, family drama, missing people, bodies showing up in the strangest of places, and some romance. Overall, a highly enjoyable book and series!!

Chasing Cheer (Emerald Hollow Book 1) by Heather Schneider – Review by Megan Pesek

Chasing CheerChasing Cheer by Heather Schneider
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Chasing Cheer is a sweet and wholesome Christmas read. It isn’t the typical small town strangers meeting and falling in love type, but it still has all the best elements.
The cheer in Emerald Hollow is something Holly can’t seems to put her finger on, so she works to investigate what makes it so cheerful. As she falls in love with the town and the people, Holly keeps finding reasons to visit again. Ash is selfless, constantly chasing dreams to better Emerald Hollow. He stays busy, but always makes time for everyone else, especially Holly, only he knows so little about her. Only when things take a turn for the worst do Holly and Ash have to be honest about their feelings for each other.
The writing is very descriptive, which seemed to slow the story down in some places, but it always picked up again. The twist on the classic Christmas love stories was fun and even unpredictable at times.
