Hooked: The Merciless Few (The Merciless Few Series) by S Courtney – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is the second book of the series. This is Fiend’s (Jett) story. Fiend was a troubled teen when he ran away from home because he didn’t want to follow in his father’s footsteps. He met Lucifer (the Leader of Merciless Few MC) and his ol’ lady Sam, they took him in and he worked hard to become part of the brotherhood. Fiend is like a lot of the brotherhood when it comes to having an ol’ lady (they don’t want to settle down). You also meet Poppy, she is a bunny but she wants to be an ol’ lady. This a sad story of Jett’s childhood and his actual family. You will learn things from Jett’s and Poppy’s past that will have you in tears. There were moments where I didn’t want to continue reading because my heart hurt so much for both of them. This is one of those books that you will connect with no matter what, keep reading so that you can find peace yourself.

This is the second book in the series but can be read as a standalone. This book starts out slow but pulls you in the more you read. Paige is all over the map with her feelings and I attribute a lot of that to her not dealing with her friend’s death and her wanting to please her other people. Paige and Walker have been together for a long time so part of me understood her reluctance to let that relationship go completely. Paige and Viktor start hanging out and I was rooting for these two the entire time but there are definite issues that need to be worked out on both their parts for anything to work between them. This story has drama, angst, emotions, friendships, and great characters. The characters in this book are very relatable. I enjoyed reading this story. I can’t wait to read more books by this author.

This is story two of the Merciless Few MC. This story follows Fiend and Poppy. Fiend believes he is the black sheep of his family as well as his MC family. He takes all his emotions and buries them until he can’t. Poppy is one of the MC bunnies that has had feelings for Fiend since she met him. Poppy takes her feeling for Fiend a little too far and Fiend does not take the attention well. But then again, Poppy knows him a little too well now and knows a heavy secret he has been hiding from his MC family. Add in some issues with his personal demons, family, his club, makes for one wild ride with some heartbreak along the way.

I liked a lot about this story. The title is perfect once I got Into the story I got what it meant. The storyline is sad and yet inspiring it shows a bit about how life with an addict can be. I was really disappointed in him with every pill and rooted for him when he got clean. I really liked his brothers and sisters. Plus he has an adorable nickname for Poppy.

My big issue is the timeline. Basically in reference to Fiend and his family. It seems like he was underage when he left home then add three years. The twins seemed older when he saw them. I just struggled with the ages since he was only gone three years. The characters were portrayed older.

Overall I did enjoy this and I sped through it as it is tragic. I do look forward to the other brothers getting their women too.

This book is a fun, second chance romance story that is perfect for one of those lazy afternoons spent reading. It is the seventh book in the series but can be read as a standalone, although all of them are worth the time! I loved reading about these characters. It was so nice to see the female MC being the one to achieve her goals, over and above the male MC. More often than not, it is the other way round so it was refreshing to read something a little different.
I thought the story was well developed. The author knew just how to move the story on and keep the characters connection interesting. This is an author I always enjoy and this series definitely lives up to that expectation. I would recommend this book to any fan of romance.

Falling for a Star in the City (Stars in the City #2)Falling for a Star in the City by Krysten Lindsay Hager
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the Stars in the City Series. This is a YA romance which is full of angst, drama and emotion as our main character struggles to redefine herself and deal with all the other complications that comes with being young and finding your way in the world. This book was a captivating read and I enjoyed seeing the character growth of Paige as we watch her change and transform her life.

Paige thought her life was perfect and she loved her work as an actress on a soap opera. However when her job is not longer a safe secure option Paige has to look for other work which leads her to journalism.
This job leads her to meet the next potential romance in the form of hockey player Viktor.
Their connection is strong but with Paige’s ex trying to win her back what will Paige do? Will she give the relationship with Viktor a chance or will she got back to Walker.

This story is a great insight into the life of a young woman who is trying to succeed in her life and find her place and what she wants. Dealing with emotions around romance is never easy and you can really feel Paige’s struggle as she trys to decide which one( if either) of the guys is right for her.
You will find you can’t put this romance down and I cant wait to see what else the author has in store

Chess has her heart guarded and does not want to waste her time on players, both on and off the field. Shes attracted to Finn, but she’s wary when she realizes he’s entertaining the wrong type of women. This was a great slow burn, while Finn works to prove he’s not the type of guy she assumes he is. He’s a nerd and a softy under his tough exterior, and he’s got his eyes set on winning Chess over. This was a great read for the sports romance fans. Love the slow burn, the effort Finn puts in, Chess as a strong FMC. I’ll definitely read more from this author.

Hooked: The Merciless Few is the second book in The Merciless Few Series and is a MC Romance that will have you turning the pages till the end. I highly recommend reading the first book in this series if you haven’t already as it gives you a better understanding of what has been going on and meet characters which overlap to the next story. This is a fairly new author to me but I like where this series is going so far My emotions were all over the place with this story and at one point I had tears running down my face. My heart broke for Fiend aka Jett. This is Jett and Poppy’s story. Fiend holds many secrets and has many struggles which started at a young age. One day you mean everything to your family and then a total disappointment. Fiend leaves his family behind to start a new life with his MC family. He now is in a downward spiral can she help save him before it’s to late? Poppy wants to be his everything but can she get him to see that? I don’t want to give to much away. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I’m looking forward to reading more from this Author and this series.

I have enjoyed several books by this author, so I picked this one up without a second thought. I probably should have paid a bit more attention to the fact that it’s the seventh book in the My Cowboy series, but I believe it did pretty great as a standalone. That being said, I will absolutely be going to the beginning of the series to start from the beginning because I definitely need more of this world! The characters are well-developed and instantly relatable. I love both Trinity and Shooter, and their chemistry is remarkable. When you have to choose between a dream career and a dream love, how do you make the right choice? I finished this book the day I started it because I couldn’t put it down. If you are a sucker for a fantastic second-chance romance with that country feel, this is the perfect book for you, without a doubt. I can’t wait to circle back and read the rest of the series!

Offsides (Game Time Series) by Tam DeRudder Jackson. I’m really enjoying this Game Time Series and I was so excited that Chessly and Finn are getting a chance to tell their story. Chessly only wants to work with athletes not date them so when she sees all these jersey girls chasing all these players she is not into it at all. That is until she meets Finn the defensive lineman, he’s handsome, funny and just seems like a all around good guy. The only thing she dislikes about him are all the Jersey chasers surrounding him constantly. He’s determined to make Chessly his but she’s a independent, hard headed, strong willed woman. When it seems Finn has really screwed up she is done and by done I mean 100% done. Finn is going to do whatever it takes to make her realize she’s the only girl for him. This can be read as a standalone but I always enjoy series better when they are read in order to better understand the story and characters!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a fun dual point of view sports romance book. Chessly is a science nerd and RA at her college. Finn is one of the starting football players for the college. They hit it off from the start but then he acknowledges the wrong girl. A girl that Chessly doesn’t like and has had issues with before. They are both super smart science nerds. Chessly finds him really hot but isn’t sure she wants to get involved because of the company that he keeps. Finn tries to win her over but is awkward and makes all sorts of rookie mistakes. She tries to deny feelings as he keeps trying to win her over, you are hoping they work it out. Many of the football players live together and they seem to be all hooking up with a friend group. Seems perfect! This was a fun page turner that had a story that flowed well. The characters were very relatable and I can imagine all that is happening. I missed the first book in the series (I didn’t realize it) but really liked the second and third books and will have to go back and read it.

Trinity had always wanted to be a rodeo queen…and she made sacrifices to make her dreams come true. One of the biggest sacrifices was breaking up with Shooter. Time has passed and it is time for Trinity to return home to move on to the next stage of her life. What she doesn’t expect to find is Shooter, after chasing dreams of his own, to be the Sheriff back home. Being i in the same town, these two find themselves near each other time and time again…and the spark they once had is still there. With some self-doubt, and grudges held by family members, these two have their work cut out for them if they ever plan on seeing if they can the bring that spark to life.

This is a quick read that I devoured in one sitting. It’s a story of sacrifice and chasing dream…as well as growing up and the journey of life. I enjoyed watching these two grow and mature…and find where, and if, they fit into each other’s lives now. While I have read previous books in the series, it is not a necessity to follow the flow of the story.

She’s My Rhinestone Cowgirl is the seventh book in the My Cowboy series by Brooke May. This is a second chanced contemporary western romance where dreams and ambition come between young love. But what happens when the rodeo is over? Follow all the angsty drama, chemistry, and emotion- as Trinity and Shooter pull us into their world.
Even though this is the seventh book in the series, it can be read as a standalone. But, having said that though, I recommend getting your hands on the entire series as there is plenty to love about the previous six books- with lots of other characters to get to know.
Looking forward to more in this series.
Happy Reading…

This is the second book in the series but can be read as a stand alone. Each book follows a different character, so you might see names that you recognize throughout the series in each one. This book is extremely well written. It captures your attention right off the bat and continues to entertain you throughout the book. There is the broken leading male that feels he is undeserving of things in his life. The love of a good woman and his biker friends might be enough to pull him out of the self imposed exile that he has been in. This book has everything y0u would expect from a motorcycle club romance book. There is the danger, drama, steam, love, friendship, violence, and redemption. Giving all the things in the book, you will be on an emotional roller coaster. I laughed, cried, got angry, screamed, and swooned while reading this book. The emotions that it was able to pull out me has made me want to read everything this author has published because this book was just that good. I just can’t wait for the next read.
