Sleeping with the Enemy by Debroah Garland- 4 out of 5 stars.
Prissy’s deep seeded determination for revenge after she was attacked, puts her face to face with a blast from her past. Riordan, her old crush and the man that saved her life all those years ago. This Mafia romance had me flipping the page for more. Danger, drama, suspense, forced marriage, and lots of steam. What more could you ask for. I am giving this book 4 stars because there were parts that were a bit difficult for me to read. Other then that, I appreciated the character development.

This book is one of the most gripping that I have read this year. It was dark, intense, fast paced, exciting and so well written. I could not put it down once I had started reading. I was pulled into the characters and their story. It felt so gritty and real. They are definitely two of my favourite characters. This author knows how to write such varied and interesting books. This one feels so different to some of the others I have read by her but it is just as good. I could have read this book for so much longer. I would highly recommend this story.

What an interesting take on the story of Eros and Psyche. You get so much in this story. Abduction vacation, enemies to lovers, strangers to lovers, dark romance, pain, hurt, betrayal and love. You get it all. The connection the main characters have from the start is undeniable. With all the twists and turns, it keeps your interest! Super excited for the next book!

Fast paced suspense This enthralling romantic suspense is a drama filled roller coaster of twists and turns that almost gave me whip lash. With edge of the seat moments and a mix of action, romance, disturbing behaviour and captivating characters, I was hooked. The writing contains excellent pacing and a well thought out plot which made for an amazing read. I’m not giving anything away – just read it. Highly recommend.

Riordan and Priscilla’s story had me right from the start. Man, the action was there. Her tragic story from her teen’s ripped my heart out (the author does give a trigger warning. Make sure to read it). These two come back together and the action is sparking and full of chemistry as they try to avoid but can’t. I haven’t read the first two in the series but you can bet I will now. I loved the characters. They just fit the mafia stereotype so well. Priscilla didn’t quite fit the mafia daughter type but she’s trying to overcome so much. The story can be graphic but it’s a good romance that is worth reading.

I have read a few of this author’s books and she continues to blow my mind. I love how she writes from both characters’ points of view. That makes me feel like I know the characters very well. This is the first book of a new series called Bound by Blood. This book is the perfect introduction to an addictive series. I could not put this book down until the end. This author knows how to keep you on your toes until the very end. I can’t wait to see what she will write next.

She’s the enemy he’ll force down the aisle… He just wasn’t prepared to fall for her.I’
m deadly on the streets and wicked in the sheets, but I live by two rules: Protect my family at all costs and guard my heart. No temptation has ever thrown my world into chaos…until her. A beautiful mysterious woman lands at my feet from a bullet meant for me. Then I find out she’s the broken girl from my past with a secret that can destroy me. She’s my enemy, but I’ll force her to marry me and sleep in my bed every night until she tells me the truth. There’s a thin line between love and hate, and nothing soaks up the sheets better than lust-fueled anger. One kiss is all it takes. Until the truth is more awful than I could have imagined. And if I don’t go on the offense, she’ll burn my world, melt my heart, then coldly disappear into the shadows. Again. But when her walls come down and I open my heart, I won’t let her run away this time. I will break all my rules to keep her forever…

This was a good 4 star read. I was pulled right in by the author’s writing. It was a dark and twisted Greek mythology. This was very interesting for sure. Kay agrees to let her sisters arrange a vacation for her, but it isn’t your usual vacation. Eros is mysterious and Kay finds herself wanting more from him. We get some very steamy moments that will leave you feeling very warm, we also get drama, betrayal and so much more. The author does a great job with her writing and pulls you right into the story. All of the characters added a great element to the story. I look forward to reading more from her. 1-click and get started today.

This is the second book in the series. While I haven’t read the previous book this does well as a stand alone story. The author weaves plenty of back story so you don’t feel lost with the characters. This store offers plenty of charged emotions, twisted adventures, strong women, and plenty of romance to keep you turning the pages. The author did a wonderful job with healing from trauma and the feelings of sexual abuse. This is a poignant yet heart-warming, story about friendship and finding love.

Shadowed Obsession is Book One in the Shadow Defense Security Series. It is a fast-paced, action-packed, gripping psychological thriller that will surely give you goosebumps and leave you on pins and needles. Keira is a PR Specialist who prides herself on being smart, successful, independent, and strong but when she starts receiving photos anonymously on her phone of her, she becomes on edge. At first, she attempts to ignore the photos until she starts receiving ones taken of her while she is at home. Keira realizes that it is obvious that she is being stalked and that she can no longer ignore what has been happening. She enlists the help of her new neighbor, Cade, who is a private security operative and together the two try to determine her stalker’s identity. The problem is that the obsessed stalker always seems to be one step ahead of Cade and his team. Will they be able to save Keira from her stalker?
I loved the writing in this book and thought that the story flowed nicely. I was pulled into the story from the first pages and became fully immersed in the life of Keira. The characters of her and Cade were done wonderfully, and they were engaging and relatable. Keira was a force to be reckoned with in the world of PR and was determined, feisty, and strong. Cade was charming, sweet, kind, smart, and strong. The two together had amazing chemistry and seemed perfectly suited to one another. I was riveted until the end as I anxiously read to see who Keira’s stalker was, if they would be caught, and if the chemistry between Keira and Cade would develop into more. A fantastic read full of action, suspense, mystery, intrigue, romance, and twists and turns that will keep you reading until the very end. I highly recommend this book!

Kay is a workaholic, her sisters have convinced her to take a vacation from their family run company. Her sisters have set her up on an abduction vacation thinking it will do her some good to let go. Eros has been set on the mission for this vacation, come to find out that he is the son of Kay’s rival. She has set her son up to get any dirt on Kay he possibly can to take her down. Can Kay relax at all on this vacation or will things go horribly wrong?
This is a well written and exciting story, the kind of book where you get pulled in by the characters. I loved the connection these two had. The attraction was instant and introduced very early in the book. The book takes you on a fast paced journey and the author does a great job of throwing in a few twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat. This is a new author to me and I hope all her other books are just like this. I enjoyed every moment of this book and I love that it is the start of a new series. I cannot wait to see what book 2 has in store.

This reminded me of a soap opera with all of the drama and action. Gabriela is barely holding things together when an obsessed fan of her work is willing to do whatever it takes to force her into selling to him. Following a suspicious accident, Gabriela’s friends reach out to Richard for help in protecting her; little do they know, the relationship between the two is more personal than anyone knew. Throw in a stalker paparazzo, and an international agency trying to snag a criminal, and this story has you guessing what’s next until the end.

This has to be one of my favorite romances. It’s honest, it’s laid back and accidental love does happen, or can it? Joe is recovering from throat surgery. He can not say one single word. So he isolates himself in a small cabin off the grid. Somewhere his fans will not find him. He is happy and content. Ali is walking around in her twin brother’s secret places in hopes of finding clues as to where he really is. She has been told he had died in an accident. She can’t believe them. Getting lost in a rain shower, she stumbles her way on to a cabin. Thinking it abandoned she approaches the porch when the door opens. So that is all you get! This author writes with her heart on her sleeve. She is also the narrator of the book and you can tell she loves her story. It is fast paced and with all the events going on in these two very different characters, you just can’t tell how it will end. As for me it ended too soon. I have questions that I bet they will be in book 2.

This is the first in the Shadow Defense Security series, this instalment focuses on Keira and Cade. This Romantic Suspense story hooks you from the beginning and surprises you with twists and turns. Just when you think you’ve figured it out, another twist is thrown in.
I loved the characters in this book, Keira was a strong independent professional woman who was able to be open and Cade was strong, protective without being overbearing and skilled. The increasing danger to Keira increases the tension as Cade tries to save her before it’s too late but also increases the chemistry between the pair.
I couldn’t put this book down and can’t wait for the next in the series!

This is the first book in the Shadow Defense series and I can’t wait for more. The author does an amazing job with this story, I was gripped from the beginning and I couldn’t put it down. It has everything i love in a story, a dangerous situation, a strong protective man and a woman who is independent but not afraid to be vulnerable. Keria O’ Ryan is a successful PR person. Everything is going great for her. That is until she realises she has a stalker. This stalker is following and watching her every move and when she starts to receive worrying messages and the threat takes a dangerous turn. Cade is Keria’s neighbour. As a former SEAL and now a member of a private security team he knows how to protect someone from danger and after hearing Keria’s stalker issue he can’t help but want to protect her. Using the team around him he tries to figure out and stop this stalker and protect Keria before it’s too late. But how do you stop someone who always seems to be one step ahead of you.
This is a suspenseful read which will keep you on the edge of your seat. The twists and turns meant I couldn’t put it down and as the spark grows between Keira and Cade it just added an extra element of danger as the risk of him losing the women he has feelings for makes the threat even more dangerous.

The book of hours is definitely an action packed story, twists and turns navigate the semblance of her life. Touching on her pain her heart feels stuck in a loveless marriage, rejected by the love of her life. Gabriella thrust herself into being her own heroine.
However, she can’t do it on her own. A blast from the past and love of her life Richard shows up once again securing her life and maybe her love?
If you like mystery, action, romance, thrillers, and unlocking secrets this is the book for you.
My only drawback was the reader. Sometimes it was hard to feel the emotion, follow along, and differentiate between the characters as who was speaking.

Wyatt Tompkins is in a slump, using his status as a NHL Goalie just a little too much so when his antics are no longer fun and hindering his career he spirals into a slump. With no team anymore and not knowing what he can do to bring him back into the NHL he decides to go out and have a drink with his cousin, Noah. That night changes his life forever.
Serena Lambert has her career on the incline, PR Director of one of the top NHL teams wanting her savvy skills to take her higher until one night she is thrown into the path of the most infamous hockey player she has ever met but as she gets to know him, he starts to work his way into her heart.
When Wyatt asks Serena to help him improve his image, she is reluctant at first but over time the chemistry and attraction is too much to ignore but when two personalities are that different can they find the line in the sand to be together.
I loved this story and another great addition to the series, although this is part of the series you can easily read this as a standalone book.
I must admit when you first meet Wyatt you do think what a complete waste of space, he has caused this on himself and he needs to grow up, but as they story moves along you understand and get to see the real person inside and grow to love him, I know but you do. Serena is a brilliant sassy, independent strong woman, who takes no nonsense from him and calls him on his behaviour which is brilliant to read.
The story was well written, and the main characters really drive the story along which enhanced the reading experience and I was frantically diving in to finish and see what happens in the end. I can’t wait to read more in this series and by this author.

Kiera O’Ryan is smart, successful and is good at her job, but there is one thing that has her searching the dark corners and causing her to question her sanity she has a stalker. Although she has requested help from the Montana Police they can’t seem to find or locate who the person is. They always feel one step ahead, until she recruits her neighbour to help.
Cade Hartford is ex-forces and working for a Private Military contractor but when his neighbour comes to him to help with her stalker problem, he jumps straight in to help, the only problem is this stalker is always ahead of them and it feels very much like a game of cat and mouse.
Can Cade help Kiera find the culprit and recuse Kiera?
This is the first book I have read from this author and will not be the last, the twists and turns in this book have you at the edge of your seat with anticipation.
The story is well written, and the main characters are well balanced and suit each other brilliantly, the chemistry between them jumps off the page and adds to the flow of the story as the drama builds. The character of Cade is a great alpha male and as I say I love a flawed character and he has his hang-ups along the way, although with the strong female character of Kiera and her strong will and sassy nature this makes a brilliant combination.
As this book can be read as a standalone, I can’t wait for the next book in this series and I believe Mavery Ellscott has just become another author in my very long TBR list.

Shadowed Obsession is the first book in the Shadow Defense Security series and debut novel by Mavery Ellscott. It is an engrossing romantic suspense with a dangerous and obsessed stalker, a deadly game of cat and mouse, sinister intent, slow-burn romance, thrills, action, tension, intrigue, suspense, chemistry, humour, creepiness, and more. Keira O’Ryan is a hardworking P.R. specialist whose life has taken a bit of a sinister turn when an obsessed stalker begins following her every move, sending creepy messages that destroy her peace of mind. Cade Hartford is a former Navy SEAL turned private security operative who is recovering from an injury sustained during a previous mission gone wrong. He has just moved in next door to Keira and can’t help but be drawn into her stalker ordeal. When the stalking takes an even more dangerous turn, Cade and his team are determined to uncover the stalker before it’s too late. But this sinister foe seems to always be one step ahead of them- so the story takes a bit of an intense turn, bringing plenty of thrills along the way…. While I did enjoy the story, there were some issues that kept pulling me out of the story and interrupting the flow of the storyline. There was quite a lot of repeated information, thoughts/inner dialogue- as well as a lot of contradictions/conflicting information and details that I felt detracted from the otherwise stellar story. It has left me with mixed feelings as to what rating I should give this book because if there were not so many little issues, this would definitely be a five-star read for me… but as things stand the issues have detracted from my overall enjoyment of the story, so I feel that I can’t justify awarding it more than 3.5 stars, as things stand. I feel that these issues should have been caught in the beta reading stage, but definitely should have been picked up during the editing process. I feel for the author because these things should have been noted/corrected, which would make her book not only a superb story, but a professionally polished piece of work too. But, looking at the other reviews, I seem to be the only one who has noticed or feels this way, so maybe you should read the book for yourself and make up your own mind. I will be following this series and look forward to seeing what happens in Book #2. Happy Reading…

Gabriela Martinez is a well known author that is about to put her book up for auction. People are willing to do anything to get their hand on her book. At least one person is willing to take her life. There are plenty of twists to keep you listening, or turning the pages if you are reading the book. A few times I felt like I was getting lost when things from the previous book were referenced, but I was able to piece things together without any issues. This is a sweet contemporary romance with a secret identity element, grief, loss, a wilderness rainforest, a might storm, a cozy cabin in the woods, chemistry, connection, and two truly unforgettable days. Ms. Treadgold has crafted a touching story woven with plenty of emotion and enough angst and drama to keep things interesting. I did feel that the story was a little slow to get going and while the pace did pick up a bit it still tended to lag a bit in places, but then the ‘ending’ seemed to be rushed. I put this down to being a debut novel and it didn’t detract too much from my overall enjoyment of the story. I am interested in seeing what the author has in store for us in ‘The Guardsman” (Book #2)- which is Ali’s twin brother Liam’s story. Happy Reading…

A Toast for Laurent is about a couple of kids (22 y/o) making a pact to marry each other if no neither of them are married by age 40. Fast forward 20 years and sure enough Laurent is not married but he never expected Phoebe to waltz in and hold him to their silly pact. This was a great story. Both have had their hearts broken in the past and as a result, are afraid to trust in the new love blooming. I would definitely recommend giving it a try.

The Book of Hours Coin/Hours Duology 2 By: Maria Elena Alonso-Sierra Review by: Susan Ratchford 5 Stars
Absolutely adored this book! I can’t wait to read more of Ms. Alonso-Sierra’s work. Her writing style and the way she writes all her characters just drew me in! My fiancé is an artist so I really liked the inclusion art! I loved Gabriela and Richard’s story! It had me reading as fast as I could to find out what would happen next! I couldn’t put it down! I felt every moment of fear and panic like it was my own! I might have even checked behind my back a few times! I really wish there could be a third book in this heart pounding series! If you are a lover of thrillers and a fast paced plot you have to check out The Book of Hours and the first book in the Coin/Hours Duology! You will not be disappointed!

Keira is a PR representative with an obsessed stalker. She has reached out to the Montana police to protect her, but her predatory stalker outwits everyone. She needs help – both for protection and survival, as well as her state of mind.
Cade is a former Navy SEAL and current securities specialist, and luckily for Keira – he’s her new neighbor. Can he protect her while he hunts her stalker? Can he protect her while he wrestles their insane attraction for one another?
This mystery-from-the-start thriller offers chemistry, tension, humor, danger, passion, intrigue and action. Would never have guessed this was a new author – excellent!
This is an absolutely suspenseful romance that is 100% worth the read! I couldn’t put it down and read it in one sitting. The beginning is a little bit slow, but the overall flow of the story is still magnificent. Don’t let the slow start fool you as it will have you turning pages as quickly as you can shortly after. The love story of Gabriela and Richard is intense, passionate, and full of surprises! I don’t want to give an inkling of anything away (you’ll thank me later) therefore I will just give a strong recommendation to give this book a chance so you can fall in love with it too!

4 out of 5 Stars
This was a fun and exciting read. Lots of suspense and twists. Since I missed the previous book there were some loopholes in the story for me so I highly recommend reading it before reading this one. I feel like it was a little slow at the beginning and it took me a little to get into the story. Other than that, this was a good book.
