Raising Elle (Sweet Valley Series Book 1) by S.E Reichert – Review by Emily H

Raising ElleRaising Elle by S.E. Reichert
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Elle Sullivan thought that when she left home in Sweet Valley, Wyoming that all her dreams would be fulfilled. Instead Elle is heading home with bruises and a broken soul, she finds her family embracing her and respecting her wishes to keep her secrets. Seeing Blake O’Connor again she is hurt by his gruff response to her, he was her one but he pushed her away. Two broken souls end up working together to heal but will Elle’s past let her go.

This was a bit of a surprise to me, the way the story unfolded. I was haunted by Elle, she is trying so hard to heal herself and small towns have a way of being the best and the worst in some instances to others. Blake was unlike a male lead that I have read, he has to work on himself and there is a rawness to the story that goes from blistery raw to healing with each turn of the page. Really good story, definitely would read more from this author.

What an enjoyable pretty easy read historical romance with a twist of the forbidden.
A great story based in the early days of San Francisco, where the men outnumber the women.
We follow Isaac and Walter, both men are strong individuals with a full friendship based on years together travelling and working. How music, construction, furniture building and friends can all play a part in the feelings, friendships and relationships.
When the newest lady to move to the area Suzette De Massey arrives from France with her brother, her past is not far behind her, and sparks sure do fly when she is introduced properly to Walter and Isaac.
The normality of tri relationships instead of couples, their immediate friends and love for music and each other all bring the story easy though from beginning to end, throw in the angst of kidnapping, shanghaiing of men to work the trade routes, missing family members, intrigue and suspense also have a part to play.
Will Suzette get away from her past, will her future be with one or two men, will her brother survive his gambling way and many more questions are answered.
I look forward to reading more from this author.

Stay For Me (The Balefire Series Book 5) by Tam DeRudder Jackson – Review by Michelle Mulvey

Stay For Me (The Balefire Series Book 5)Stay For Me by Tam DeRudder Jackson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I’m such a sucker for a second chance romance. This book is number 5 in the series and can be read as a stand alone. ( I wonder if I would’ve liked it better if so didnt know about the characters ) I had a strong dislike for Garrett from the beginning. Here he is living the life he always wanted when a blast from his past is right there in front of him. It’s 10 years later
And now they are expected to work
Closely. Can it be done? Garrett definitely regrets how everything ended. Olivia knows the gang well has known them since before they were a huge rockband.
Garrett spends a lot of time regretting his decisions he made almost 10 years ago. This book had plenty of heat and happy moments. I just dont like the character of Garrett
There are plenty of the same characters in this book as the previous ones.
This is another great book in the series.

Healing Kiss by Amanda Uhl – Review by Amanda Swindle

Healing KissHealing Kiss by Amanda Uhl
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Healing Kiss is a paranormal romance and not my normal genre of choice. That being said, I actually enjoyed this book more than I thought that I would. Lillian Milano has a special gift; she can heal the sick by drawing energy from the healthy. When authorities in an organization called Kinetica catch wind of her paranormal gift, she goes into hiding with the alias “Zoey Mills”. Kinetica wants to do research in order to use Lillian’s power for awful reasons. Unfortunately Hannah, her sister, has become gravely ill and is in desperate need of a miracle. Even Lillian’s power can not help her sister, and while in the hospital, she meets Tristan King. Tristan is in need of help himself, and they strike a deal. As time goes on, they become closer. This book is filled with drama, trust and distrust, suspense and action with sides of psychic ability and elements of loss and fear. I gave a 4 star only because of how predictable I found this to be, and the cliche of “girl in distress wins over the handsome billionaire”, but overall still a good read.

Hero Complex (Bluestone Series Book 3) by Isobel Reed – Review by Bethany Rollins

Hero Complex (Bluestone Series, #3)Hero Complex by Isobel Reed
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ivy is trying to save her ranch and in doing so finds herself in a fake engagement to Ace, a wounded soul in more ways than one. With the new close proximity to each other, the fake relationship becomes more real than either expected.

This was a quick and easy read. Both lead characters were likeable and charming. Ace’s mom, Liz, was a fun character and I felt I wanted more parts with her in it. While I did love the story and flow, my biggest issues was the constant use of the pet names ‘sugar’ and ‘honey’. It felt overused and hindered the flow of dialogue for me. Good addition overall to the Bluestone series.

I’ll Love You Tomorrow (Trading Heartbeats Trilogy Book 3) by Julie Navickas – Review by Kerry Carr

I'll Love You Tomorrow (The Trading Heartbeats Trilogy #3)I’ll Love You Tomorrow by Julie Navickas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 3rd book in the Trading Hearts Triology and wow what an emotional read. These books can be read as a standalone however some character are interwoven from the previous books so reading them in order makes the story feel complete as you are familiar with all the character.
This was a very emotional story about a young women who had it all. She had the love of her life and a thriving business but over time her business starts to fail and her marriage is on the rocks.
When a fire at her business destroys it Lauren has lost it all. Feeling lost and in despair she heads to Vegas. No one knows what happens in Vegas right?
With all the upheaval, secrets and things standing in their way can Mitch and Lauren rekindle their love or are some obstacles just too hard to over come.
I felt heartbroken for Lauren for all the pain she was enduring as Mitch was drifting away from her. I also fed sad of Mitch too because you could tell he didn’t want their marriage to fail that deep down he does truely love Lauren. A part of me was wishing them to pull things back together and at other times I felt their were better apart. This is definately a story that will take you on a rollercoast ride of emotions.

Heartwarming and heartbreaking
This is the first book in the Sweet Valley series. Elle has come back to town after going through some horrendous stuff. Blake is one bottle away from outcast. What unfolds is a journey of discovery and healing. This contemporary romance has everything, from tension, chemistry and tragedy to family, friendships and romance. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will be continuing onto book two. Highly recommend.

Wow what a wonderfully written story of two people, I guess I should say two broken-hearted people, who help each other heal along the way. I know some topic areas covered may be difficult for some to read as the author has you really feeling the characters emotions and struggles but they are topics that should be shared and learned about. With such a well written storyline I promise you will be completely hooked from start to finish as this story unfolds, I know I sure was and I will definitely be looking forward to more great books from this wonderful author.

Raising Elle (Sweet Valley Series Book 1) by S.E Reichert – Review by Angela Shirley

Raising ElleRaising Elle by S.E. Reichert
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Elle left the small town of Sweet Valley and the only person she really loved, when she got caught up with Aaron she thought this is the best she could do but over the ten years of marriage and torture she is making her way back to the childhood town she misses. Aaron had warn her down and with the physical abuse and mental torture believing no-one will care to love her within her family she is nervous driving into town.

Elle is left utterly shocked that not only is she welcomed home but her family rally around her to make sure is overcomes the abuse she has suffered, but what will happen when she sees the one man she ever loved and left looking back.

Blake has been lost in Sweet Valley ever since Elle moved on, his only ever love of his life so what is there worth fighting for, she left and I am still here, until one day she comes crashing back in his life but although the chemistry and memories are still there his heart is that protected can she hammer her way through and let them have the happily ever after they deserve.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I loved it. I love a good flawed character and you had two for the price of one. I have to say if you have triggers ready abuse this may not be the right book for you, but the author wrote those scenes with emotion and tact that your heart bleeds for the character of Elle and just want to protect her. I loved the character also of Blake who is just heartbroken by the past but you see with Elle’s help him putting his life back together and seeing that he does have a future.

The goats arriving at the ranch made me giggle as you can just imagine within the description of the book the scene and that just sums the book up, well written with brilliant main characters with the added extra of the secondary characters adding to the story as it went on although there is a hint of sadness in parts I devoured the book and want to read more in this wondering series, possibly Katelyn story next.

This is the first book I have read from this author and let me tell you she has a new fan. I love a good small town romance but this book exceeded all my expectations. This is the first book in the Sweet Valley series. I was hooked on both of the characters right from the beginning of the story. I could not stop reading until the end. I can’t wait to see who this author will write about next.

Elle Sullivan is back in her hometown Sweet Valley Wyoming. She just came out of a horrible relationship and all she wants to do is heal. Elle is told that her family is going to lose the farm if they don’t do anything. She decides to fix the farm up and that’s what she does. Elle is shocked she runs into her old high school sweetheart but he is not the same at all. He is very rude and distant from her. She doesn’t understand why but she also has secrets of her own. My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ten years ago, Garrett and Olivia were in love, but parted ways because they were both focused on their careers and their paths took them in different directions. Garrett was the manager of a band, Balefire, and decided to focus on making them the megastars he knew they could be. Olivia wanted to start a video production company, and needed to be in a place that work could be found, which was not Denver, Colorado, where the band and Garrett were located. When Garrett and Balefire suddenly want to work with Olivia, after her skillful work with the Oscars, Olivia is uncertain at first, but she cant turn down the work, because her company needs the money, desperately. Working with Garrett and the band again, reminds Olivia of what they had, but when Garrett’s mistakes from the past, where the band members and their relationships are concerned, comes back to haunt him, Olivia must decide rather she can get past the distance in their relationship and Garrett’s past choices, to find the love they shared. This book is a part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone book, though now that I’ve read this one, I am adding the rest of this series to my summer to be read list.

The Innovator is the third book in the WaterFyre Rising Series and is a wonderfully written Contemporary Romance/ Enemies to Lover’s Romance that once you start reading there’s no putting it down until you’ve finished. I read this in one afternoon only because I couldn’t stop reading even if I wanted to. I’ve been waiting for this book patiently waiting for Grayson’s story and holy cow what a story . This author has a way of weaving the perfect web throw in some amazing characters that are relatable, fully developed and raw at times makes for one heck of an epic story. These definitely have the love hate thing for them, the chemistry between them is electric . I don’t want to accidentally give something away so I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait for more books by this author.

I really enjoyed how easily the story progressed. The characters were very well developed and had great depth. Lillian is a nurse in hiding from the big bad Kinetica who wants her DNA to advance their power. Her sister is ill and Lillian is a healer but needs something more to heal her. Can she find that something or someone and stay off Kinetica’s radar? This is a really good paranormal romance complete with all the magic, mysticism and mystery you would hope for in this genre.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Grayson is trying to get his life back on track after a devastating betrayal from someone close to him. Natalie is in the US trying to uncover the secrets her father left behind after his death. What neither of them plans on is the hate-love-hate some more relationship that these two find themselves in. While each tries to hide their secrets, and keep their hearts hidden behind the large walls they have built up…they find themselves fighting these growing feelings of lust, protection, and (gasp) love, But, when secrets come to life and shake the foundation they are building, can they stand strong? Or will their trust issues from the past keep them from moving forward?

I really enjoyed both Grayson and Natalie’s characters. They were both so multi-dimensional with secrets and issues as far as the eye could see. However, it made them the people they are. Natalie’s take-no-crap attitude as she stood up to a man that most feared provided some comedy relief. This story is heavy in tragedy and betrayal…so the humous banter between the two was a nice balance. The story unfolded in an entertaining manner that kept my attention the entire time. Their support for each other, while also continuously finding ways to make the other mad, was quite enjoyable. I could not put this book down until the end!

The Innovator: An Enemies to Lovers Romance (WaterFyre Rising Book 3)

I loved this book. The chemistry between Natalie and Grayson was instantaneous and I so enjoyed their verbal sparring. The protectiveness Grayson felt for Natalie was there before he could acknowledge he was feeling anything other than enjoyment of annoying her.

Aside from the love/hate the thing that stood out to me was the friendships the women have with one another. They embraced Natalie and made her one of them. Friendships like that don’t happen very often for everyone.

I love this series so much and looking forward to the next one.

Healing Kiss by Amanda Uhl – Review by Sheri Schrader

Healing KissHealing Kiss by Amanda Uhl
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Healing Kiss is a paranormal romance that captured my attention. The story starts strong and keeps up the pace throughout the story. Lillian has a healing power that makes her an amazing nurse. Her powers put her at risk from a dangerous organization. Tristan King a billionaire, knows that something is different but amazing about Lillian. Will they be able to assist each other?
As I mentioned, the story starts and does not stop. I was immediately drawn in and did not want to put it down. The characters are interesting, and Lillian was a mystery to me at first. I wanted to understand her power and what she was hiding from. When you add Tristan’s part of the story, it expands Lillian’s story but also helps to expand the world they live in. I enjoyed the paranormal aspects of the story, and it only added to the intrigue of the book. This was my first book by this author, but she hooked me. I look forward to reading more from her in the future.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Lillian Milano, who goes by Zoey, siphons energy from the healthy and gives it to the sick to heal them. An organization called Kinetica used her mother who had the same healing powers until she died. Knowing this, Lillian decides to leave her home and live on the run. She gets news that her sister is ill and she risks coming home to save her.

Lillian’s sister seems to be too far gone for her to heal her without help. When she meets Tristan, he has loads of energy to spare. Lillian approaches him and asks for his help. He has to visit her sister in the hospital for an hour or two and Lillian would be his date for an upcoming fundraiser.

Unfortunately, Tristan is too curious for his own good. He keeps getting suspicious of Lillians answers and reactions. He starts looking into her closely. Meanwhile Lillian is freaking out, scared she will be found by Kinetica if she isn’t careful. It doesn’t help that the couple has this fiery chemistry between them.

If Lillian is exposed, it could mean disaster for her family and for Tristan if he doesn’t stop digging around Lillian’s past but how can she walk away when she has never felt this way about anyone before?

I enjoyed this book. It was suspenseful with a romantic element and a hint of supernatural abilities. Lillian was so exhausted from everything. She just wants to give up but sheer determination keeps her going. I really respected that about her. The author did a really fine job implementing different emotions. I found myself egging Lillian on, hoping she can finally stop running. I thought Tristan was a little too headstrong but it was what Lillian needed to finally start tearing down some walls.

I love the WaterFyre Rising series so much! Nadia Han has a way of writing characters that are incredibly relatable, and you find yourself fully invested in the story without even realizing it. Many times throughout this book I found myself gripping the book because I needed to know what happened next! There is a bit of spice, but the author does not rely on this alone to create an inviting and unforgettable experience. Obedience is the first book in the series Ties That Bind. It is about a student/teacher romance mixed with a freaking circus! How could it be any more interesting? The student/teacher relationship revolves around two aerialists, the Master and the Protégé. This book hooked me from the beginning. It is well-paced, intriguing, and engaging. The whole story had me captivated, from the romance plot and the aspect of reading about the aerialists. I will definitely be adding more books from this author. It had an intriguing storyline with the circus, many plot twists, a sexy slow burn that turns hot as fire, and plenty of spice! I recommend this book even if you aren’t typically into student/teacher romance. It is excellently written, with a wonderful plot, and surprising key elements.

This was my first book about a circus and circus school, and boy oh boy am I glad that I read it! I was not at all prepared for this book! It was so, so good!! This book will have you wrapped up so quick and tied in for the ride. I did not want to put it down!! And now I need to rush and get the next book in the set when released!! I can’t wait to read it as well. Cassandra grew up with one goal in mind. She wanted to soar through the skies under a big tent with the best silk aerialist in the world! Her parents took her to Chandler’s circus and as soon as she saw him in the air doing a difficult drop, she knew she wanted that life. She wanted to perform with him, she wanted to learn from him, she wanted him as her mentor, and she wanted to do that drop! That trip to the circus changed her life. In more than one way. The next day, her parents died in a horrible fire. A very hard road later, and she gets to start her dream! She made it!! She preforms for the school and she is accepted into the circus school with a full scholarship! To make things better one of her teachers is Chandler!!! She gets to learn from some of the greats, but also her idol! But he isn’t anything like she thought and she sees her dreams going up in flames. Chandler hasn’t felt like himself in a while but after seeing Cassandra in the silks, performing to a song and routine he loved in his twenties, he has a rush of emotions. He gets excited and is wrapped up in the reasons why he loved that one so much. He pretty much accepts Cassandra at her audition! He could see her potential and he felt his longing of finding the right student to take under his wing coming into focus. He’s so surprised by Cassandra though. She bold and outspoken. She puts him in his place even though she’s a student and he’s the teacher! She’d make a great addition to the circus, if only they could stop fighting!! He grumpy and she’s always late! When her best friend volunteers her for a Shibari (tying a person up with visually intricate patterns of rope) demonstration at a club, she quickly feels her world tying up in knots. Unsure of herself she realizes a couple things. One is that it makes her feel alive and the second is who’s really behind the mask. Chandler never planned on bringing anyone into his life, but the closer he gets to Cassandra the more his grandfather’s words taunt him. Now her past and his family are following her and she’s in way deeper than she or he even realized. Lives are in danger and things are catching fire left and right, as they look into her past. Their history’s are knotted together and neither of them know just how much. Will her past come back to bite her? Will his come back and bite him? This is only book one and it is left on bit of a cliffhanger, in France!! Book two has the release date of October 2023 though, so you totally have time to read this one and then go pre-order book 2! I know I will be!!!! You will not regret reading this book. Like I said, it was so, so good!! There is also a full-cast narrated audiobook for this book if you wanted that additional immersive experience. I’ve heard good things and I might be adding it to my list as well. Hehe. Grab this book and make sure you have time, a drink, and maybe even a fan! You won’t want to stop reading until your done!!

The horrors she endured at the hands of her husband were unbearable and she finally finally escaped back home just in time to save her grandparents’ ranch. She’s determined to live life to the fullest, even if past skeletons haunt her.

Blake hasn’t done anything worthwhile since his heart was broken six years ago. He wants to move on, but the pain of losing his first love was too much. But now she’s back and he’s hit rock bottom.

Elle and Blake have a rocky past and their current relationship is turbulent at best.

Raising Elle is a story of love, loss, redemption, and perseverance. The story keeps moving at a good pace throughout and keeps you on your toes. The emotions are raw and the love is deep. A great read that covers the not so great sides of relationships and the best they have to offer.

The battle between Cole and Riley rages on. Something is off, even more so with Riley and her mom and Cole will stop at nothing to get rid of them, despite his growing attraction to Riley. That is until Cole learns the secret that Riley and her mom have been keeping. Now, there’s nothing Cole wouldn’t do to protect Riley. This was a quick, suspenseful read that I couldn’t put down!

Afflicted Love (Rhythm & Heart Series) by Autumn Sand – Review by Trista Priest

Afflicted LoveAfflicted Love by Autumn Sand
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The name fits this book. The two push and pull while fighting their romantic feelings for each other. They have lived like family after being dealt a rough hand as young children. This was fast-paced and pulled me in from the get-go; I look forward to book two. The author is going to give us so much more.
