Degrees of Innocence: Dark Mafia Romance (Cruel Deceptions Book 1) By Via Mari – Review by Rebeca Elliott Figueiras

Degrees of Innocence (Prestian Series, #1)Degrees of Innocence by Via Mari
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The romance in this novel started almost immediately and I admit that I initially struggled to stay engaged, however as the chapters progressed and the tensions grew it gradually reeled me in.
I think what I found the most difficult was the interactions between the main characters, it didn’t seem to fit the way I would expect one to talk to someone they’re interested in – but overall, I was still able to enjoy the story.
As the truth was revealed and seeing how the characters were forced to confront their own issues and their misgivings about their relationship I was pulled into the story and able to ignore my initial misgivings.
The events that take place and the dangers Katarina faces are what make this book for me and as the first book in the series, I can see how promising this couple is.
I do plan to read the rest of the series as I did enjoy it, and the interactions improved as the books progressed so I am hopeful that the next books will continue on the same path and that the mafia part is explored in more depth.

Love Tools (Bluestone Series Book 1) by Isobel Reed – Review by Shania Webb

Love Tools (Bluestone Series, #1)Love Tools by Isobel Reed
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This story was one I will definitely go back and read multiple times! Every page gave me goosebumps and made me love Lily and Jake more! From the spiteful verbal sparring to the undeniable tension and want for the other person, it was something absolutely amazing. We start the book by Lily deciding to open her deceased fathers store on the other side of the world that he left to her. Despite having no plan and no idea what to do or what the tools in the hardware shop are for. One thing is certain, she needs a break from her crazy family and the suffocating city of London she grew up in. She thinks it will be a nice new setting in a town where no one knows her, until Jake enters and decides to become the new thorn in her side. Wanting to get to know the mysterious girl proves to be a bit more difficult because she wants nothing to do with him and isn’t interested in any sort of friendship. When the tension builds to an unbreakable point and they want to try to be with the other person, old insecurities come into play, and they have to choose whether or not to listen to the doubt or push through and try harder to have a good and healthy relationship. Can they overcome their pasts and the others doubts, or will the stress be too much, and they decide to call it off?

Just loving the cover and even more so once I got lost in between the pages ❣️📕

Brad , Mary and Jim were school friends and Brad had a soft spot for Mary but before he gets the chance to admit how he feels Jim swoops in and Mary becomes his girl . Brad kept tabs on them and I don’t think he ever let her go ….

Brad has to head home for his sisters wedding and while he’s there he’ll check in on his new project , he’s in construction and he’s building a tiny home community with a shared garden that’s eco friendly and green friendly so other than surviving the weekend he’s got that to keep him busy

As I said I don’t think Brad every really let Mary go and he’s always held a candle for her and that’s really evident when their paths cross again and all he wants to do is protect her , rekindle what they had and let it blossom into something more oh and make sure other men leave her alone 😂🙈🥰

Mary and Jim’s break up is till a little fresh so I get that Mary is a little hesitant or careful but Brad works his magic in so many different ways , I even fell I. Love with him and I’ve been happily married for 21 years !!!! 😂❣️

I just loved being part of this journey and it was good for the soul to catch up with old friends and family and these people truly are friends that become family and you just want to be apart of it all ! These are people you’ll go to war for ❣️

Snow in Love

What a cute Christmas romance. Sienna and Connor were a good fit from the beginning in my opinion. They were just what the other needs to be happy.

Sienna made me sad, especially in the beginning of the book. She loves skiing and competing but it’s all she has known her entire life. She has no idea what else is out there waiting for her.

Connor came across as the typical over confident jock who found his worth in how much money and how many women he has. But then I saw past that wall and the real Connor and might have fallen a bit.

This grinch enjoyed this cute Christmas romance.

Degrees of Innocence: Dark Mafia Romance (Cruel Deceptions Book 1) By Via Mari – Review by Ayla Phipps

Degrees of Innocence (Prestian Series, #1)Degrees of Innocence by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book I have read by the talented Via Mari; the synopsis was interesting and made me curious. The first page had me hooked, Katarina, better known as Kate, is in Aruba for a work conference on a new project. When a stranger suddenly needs medical attention and she performs CPR, before another man appears to help her. That happens on Friday night shortly after she arrived at the resort.
Within 48 hours she has completely fallen for the stranger, Chase, that helped her Friday night, and he has fallen for her. Dancing the night away together on Saturday and exploring the island on Sunday. Finally, they kiss, and she asks for him to come into her room only for him to decline, for now. In the moment he strangely tells her to hold on to how she feels about him in that moment and remember it tomorrow. Confused she accepts his decline in the moment as she has a very busy night and her conference starting in the morning. At the same time the CEO of the company that has hired the firm she works for is emailing her, chastising her for working on the weekend while on a beautiful resort, and talks of renegotiating her contract so that she is not allowed to work on weekends. Monday morning everything changes, hurt, confusion and embarrassment are all Kate can feel when she sees Chase, the CEO, the man that hired her, walks into the conference room for the meeting and introduces himself.
Will Kate allow herself to break her rule of not getting involved with someone from work? Can she hold on to the intense feelings she has for Chase? What will happen when his secrets come out? The world the author creates is beautiful, but the characters are so relatable that you can’t help but wish everything works out. Less than 20% through the book I couldn’t help but look up the other three books in the series so I could continue this amazing story. I can’t wait to see how their story develops in book 2 Degrees of Acceptance.

Snow in Love is a sweet holiday romance. Gave me hallmark movie vibes. The author wrote a sweet romance between two characters that are broken in their own way. Despite everything influencing their lives these two found themselves within one another. And the way the author perceived that was enjoyable.
Sienna and Conner are polar opposites. She’s lived and trained her whole life skiing with her disability. Conner is new to the disability, after a tragic accident in motocross changed his life. Both missing the same part of their leg, these two are training to compete in the winter paralympics in skiing. Which lands them at the same Aspen resort over the Christmas holiday. Sienna, with a love of tradition and a disappointment of having to spend the holiday alone, is blown away by what Connor does to make her Christmas special.
Unfortunately life happens so nothing has a happy ending, or does it?
This is a book you cozy up with. Under a blanket with a cup of cocoa or tea and enjoy. I’m a sucker for holiday romances and this one definitely pulls at the heartstrings, but it’s so worth it!

I just loved this story. Sienna and Conner are not the couple you think would work but the chemistry is off the charts. She is the sheltered golden girl and he is the typical bad boy. I just couldn’t help but love these two and route for them to make it. The ski lodge setting was just perfect too!

As the title suggests, Snow in Love is a fun festive romance. Two paralympic skiers are set to spend the holiday season training together. Their coach hopes they will focus on skiing and not get too distracted by each other. That goes about as well as you’d expect…

What I really like about this book is how it explores the differences in experience of two people with seemingly similar disabilities. Both have a lower limb impairment, but Connor’s is the result of a fairly recent accident which ended his motocross career whereas Sienna was born with a partial leg. We see not only how this affects their approaches and outlooks, but also the assumptions they make about each other.

This is a great book for fans of sports romance, particularly if you like winter sports or parasports. The otherwise unoccupied ski resort makes a great setting for a wintery romance! This book gets five stars from me. Definitely a good comfort read!

Connor Shoemaker was a motocross bad boy until an accident took his leg. He is now a Paralympic hopeful in skiing. Sienna Markum is a Paralympic Golden Girl in skiing. They have both booked Karl one of the best and hardest coaches around for the Christmas holidays. What could possibly go wrong sharing a closed ski resort while training?

This was such a sweet romantic read! I really enjoyed this authors writing style and how she describes the scenery. I love both Sienna and Connor’s characters and how much they have overcome. They are two totally different people and come from completely different worlds. Connor is not what I expected at all in his character, and I love it! There is one character that I was not a fan of and am glad things worked out the way they did. There is some awesome character building as well. I absolutely love the ending to this book and loved that there is an epilogue!

Adrik and Annika’s story might just be in my top three favorite reads for 2022. I did read this as a stand-alone without any problems but you can tell other characters have a story to be read so I’ll definitely be going back to read the rest of the series. There’s so many amazing things about this story, the characters pull you so completely into their world it’s hard to leave when the end comes. Once I started this book I simply couldn’t put it down. I read it in one night and wished I could have slowed it down but I was just way to invested. I’ll definitely be rereading this one though. Well written with characters you’ll fall for. Five huge stars and highly recommended!

An enjoyable and engaging contemporary romance with a feel good festive feeling. Sienna Markum, a Paralympic skiers favourite time of year is Christmas, as she loves all the traditions, but most of all the time she can spend with her family. Sienna is training for the Paralympics in the hopes of winning Alpine gold, so is looking forward to a much needed break from training over the holiday period. Meanwhile, Connor Shoemaker, the bad boy of skiing, plans on continuing with his training for the Paralympics, and so has no plans for Christmas. Ever since a motocross accident took one of his legs, Connor had also lost his confidence. When the pair meet at training, Sienna is not happy as she was told that her training would be private, however, she soon starts to enjoy being with her new training partner.
When Sienna’s Christmas plans fall through it’s Connor who comes to her rescue, however, she has to decide if she’s willing to balance her training with a relationship. Connor, meanwhile, is hoping to regain his confidence on and off the slopes, and to also have a chance at love with Sienna. This was a lovely, heartwarming romance with great characters and a magical snowy setting, which kept me happily turning the pages. I loved the fact that the two main characters were Paralympic’s, and dealing with disability issues, as this is unusual in romances. The couple had amazing chemistry and I was hoping they would get their HEA, especially for Christmas!

I loved that Connor fell first, he is kind of a simp for her, paying attention to her competition color and her favorite wine. And I can’t believe he asked her to wait and get to know her better! So cute!! And their flirting is also very cute. Sienna’s mom is a total itch and her dad is a tool. I liked the pop culture references, they added a little fun and humor to the story. I also really liked that they both had different experiences/feelings about their legs, and how the author explored both the differences and similarities of losing a limb vs being born without one. Overall, very good holiday book!

Comical, fun, and lighthearted read that is lead by a cynical reviewer of love finding herself in a situation she is most critical of.

Quick read with romance and plentiful banter that hints toward being cliche but the plot drives it toward an original for sure. Romance was good.

Overall a good read.

This book was sooo good, it had so much angst and I personally love that because it makes me feel so much. Their love is beautiful but complicated and I love how we were able to travel everywhere while reading about Enzo and Phoebe’s love as well. The writing itself was a bit confusing at times but nothing too bad. It can be very triggering so be sure to check the trigger warnings but it really is worth reading. Highly recommend this book.

Snow in Love by Libby Kay – Review by Desiree Ottinger

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sienna is a competitive skier in the Paralympics. She has grown up knowing that one day all of her hard work will pay off in the form of a gold medal. When her controlling mother sets up extra training over the Christmas break to prepare for the upcoming games, she is anything but excited. Connor is known in the motocross community as a bad boy, until he has an accident that takes part of one of his legs. In order to reach that rush of adrenaline from his motocross days, he becomes a skier. Both are thrown together to train over Christmas break in a ski resort that is empty because it is being renovated. It’s just them, the slopes and their trainer. Will they be able to find a balance between love and competition? Or will one have to come before the other?

This was a quick, fun, Christmas read! I found the characters to be believable and likable. While I am not a skier, I found the story to not be too bogged down with skiing lingo. I was able to follow along with what the characters were talking about and enjoyed the emotional storyline. Sienna is used to her mother making decisions for her and it takes love to kind of wake her up to the fact that she can choose, too. I appreciated that Connor doesn’t make her choose him or skiing. He sees her for what she is and wants what is best for her, even if he isn’t part of it.

To fall in love or not fall in love….that is the question! Talk about an entertaining book! I was drawn in right away with the wittiness and playfulness between the characters. Tenley and Teagen, are two people with very opposite opinions about the subject of love. Their opinions are so different that Teagan decides to invite Tenley to Hawaii on a romantic getaway and let’s just say…things do not go as planned!
This story was a fun and entertaining read! The author truly did put a lot of work into making you feel the tension and attraction between the characters! There were definitely plenty of laugh out loud moments! And don’t let the title fool you…just because the storyline is based around Christmas time, does not mean it’s not a good read anytime of the year!

This was a fun 5 star read. This was my first read from this author and I really enjoyed it.
The author had me pulled in right from the start, I was LOL.
Tenley and Teagan were opposites attract for sure. They both had different views on love, watching their story develop was so great. And the challenge was great, will it change the views on love?

My favorite quote from the book is “God gave men both a penis and a brain, but only enough blood to supply one at a time. “

Overall this was a great read. The characters were great and we got some steamy scenes as well. I had several LOL moments. If you’re looking for a fun opposites attract romance this is the book for you. I look forward to reading more from this author. 1-click and get started today.

Wonderful, feel good contemporary romance just in time for the holiday season! I loved every bit of this story of two contending Paralympic athletes in skiing that are hot both on and off the slopes.

Sienna is definitely the ultra focused Paralympic skier who knows nothing outside of focusing on the Winter Games Gold. Everything around her is controlled by her mother down to every detail. When Conner comes aboard in training with Sienna and her coach for his Paralympic dreams..Sienna starts to question what does she truly want and does she want everything in her life to be controlled. As both Sienna and Conner peel the layers back and get to truly know each other on a deeper level than skiing….love blossoms and some demons are shed and let go….will Sienna and Conner go for gold in both love and skiing?

This story really pulled my heart strings…it made me smile and melted my heart on both characters back stories….this is truly a wonderful contemporary romance that just is filled with love, hope, joy and some Christmas magic….Happy Reading!!!

if I could give this book 20 stars, I would! The characters are all phenomenal! They all have their own personalities and you get many different POV’s and I LOVE that in a book. Teagan AKA the love guru and Tenley AKA TJ On PAR…have never met, until the love guru invites her to this resort in Hawaii. He’s a sucker for love and she doesn’t believe in it. Will she let her guard down and fall in love? Does he have what it takes to break down her walls? This book is greatly written and it’s easily became one of my favorite reads this year! The humor is top notch and I’ve laughed out loud many times while reading. That spice though? *chefs kiss* 🤌🏽😘 it’s hot!! 🥵 Teagan sure has a way with words and I loved every page of the spicy scenes! I never wanted it to end! But with spice I also need a great plot..and this book has it all! I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this book!

Kamana Wanalaya for the Holidays by Susan Renee is a spicy enemies-to-lovers, opposites attract tale with a seasonal twist. The book follows Teagan and Tenley (the yin and yang of all things romance and love) as they vacation for a week at a beautiful Hawaiian resort. Along with a cast of other couples – who are all very different – Teagan and Tenley learn about each other and challenge their views of life and love. There’s laughter, emotions, and love; this quick read will most certainly be a welcome addition to your reading log.

Also, there is an authors note at the end which does mention that characters seen here appear elsewhere in her other books. I’ve not read her before so I cannot speak to what the other books are like but I can say I love it when authors do that. It’s like a present to get to revisit our favorite characters and see where life has taken them!

Just loving these fun covers !

I can only imagine how tough it is to help others find love , sometimes it leaves scars because people are so bitter and jaded and not every story has a HEA ….

Robert hasn’t had it easy and he’s the definition of ice king but his daughter seems to have a way of getting through to the bit of light in his darkness🥰

Alice is a real sweetheart and I’m so grateful she manages to touch her daddy’s heart, it feels like she’s helping him hold on to his humanity

Faida had her work cut out for her with this assignment and there were a few occasions where I would’ve walked away but nope Faida preserved , you go girl ! Love you to bits 🥰

A little cheese and a little spice makes for a nice story about a guy who believes in love and the girl he tries to convince it’s not just a sham. A friendly bet, aided by a beautiful island adventure and romantic resort experience, might just be enough to convince practical Tenley to give love a shot. But, that doesn’t mean Teagan has an easy job of convincing her that practicality doesn’t always work on matters of the heart.
