I enjoyed the spin on the Queen of Hearts. I like her fierceness and cleverness. It was enjoyable to watch the different events unfold for the prey she chose. I am hesitant to give more detail because I do not want to spoil the delectable ways of the queen. I hope to read another by this author.

My first sight of the book cover alone I knew I had to read this book…the cover is totally stunning!

Intriguing story and kind of a guilty pleasure in a dark way…it is all about revenge…. They call her
The Queen of Hearts….a different take on the story. Mimi, The Queen of Hearts, is smart and deceiving…but rightfully so. Men know no boundaries when they believe they win against The Queen of Hearts..but later they find out who truly wins at this “game”.

This book is a quick read, but wow….the story of deceit, lies, revenge against truly cruel men …. a twist and take on The Queen of Hearts story…but oh so worth it!!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Heels, Rhymes, & Nursery Crimes is a 27-book series and each book is written by many different talented authors. Queen of Hearts by Natalina Reis is just one of them.

Queen of Hearts with its deliciously dark and twisty themes are what you get in this fantasy romance book. Natalina never fails to give the reader something in the realm of unusual and that is what I love about her work.

A quirky look at a nursery rhyme with crimes that is full of thrills and intrigue, suspense and mayhem. This is a short little novella and a great quick read that is definitely entertaining.

She loves to take on anything in lipstick and high heels. You’d better stay out of her way or you could be next. But you will never see her coming, or will you?

I look forward to reading each and every book in this quirky series.

This story was well written. The story line is fabulous. To use her place at the head of the “house of ill repute” as a means to get close to the ones she is targeting. You can even tell that she is anxious about the tasks she is carrying out.
Then she ends up with help and they are able to target the biggest offender. Will they be successful?

Wow I really enjoyed this story. It is an amazing story about overcoming your past and learning to trust and love again. I love the characters of Mimi and Jac. Both are strong determined characters that need to let down their guard to learn to love. Both of them have suffered in their pasts and their connection and attraction is unreal.

Mimi is a survive of domestic abuse. When she flees her home she takes up residence at a brothel called Ace. Here she plots to get her own back on men who cheat and abuse their wife’s/partners. She never kills but makes them feel the pain and humiliation that they inflict.
Things were going smoothly until her new supplier of herbs arrives called Jac.
Jac knows what she does with the herbs he provides and he wants to help her.
Can Mimi trust him? Is this all a trick? And what is the strange feelings she is experiencing when she’s around him?

When they go for their next target this is the thing that links them. The target is the man who killed Jacs sister. When their normal plan backfires Jac has to think fast to save Mimi.

Their love grows through this story and you can actually feel the moments that help to built trust between them and breaks down the cold walls that Mimi has kept around her heart.

Queen of Hearts (Heels, Rhymes & Nursery Crimes, #21)Queen of Hearts by Natalina Reis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a short…not sure if I should say sweet story. It is set back in the early times when men were scoundrels and not married women are ladies of the night. In here the men are dark, devious and mean. One woman the Queen of Hearts sets out to right the wrongs of the men. She is rather ingenious and while they call it a crime, I think its pretty smart. Dangerous for her but a smart way to “fix” them.

I enjoyed reading this. Natalina Reis always gives me a story that reaches boundaries. This one does that with a Bonnie and Clyde theme running through here. I have not read the rest of the series but this one seems to be a standalone as I had no problems following along.
Ps Love the Cover!

What a fun story. The fact that the Queen of Hearts wants to put a stop to abusive/cheating men, makes this story even more worth the read. This is a new author to me, but I could not resist reading this story. This fast paced story had me on the edge of my seat. I was captured before the first page ended and did not stop reading until the last page was turned. We all know the nursery rhyme, now read the author’s story. The characters are believable and make you feel like your friends. I’m Not going to give out spoilers! All I can tell you is take the chance on this author, you won’t regret it. Now I’m off to read more from this new author..

4.5 Stars

Queen of Hearts by Natalina Reis is #21 of the Heels, Rhymes, & Nursery Crimes multi-author series. I snapped up a copy of this book as soon as I saw Natalina Reis had a new release- and how gorgeous is the cover- I couldn’t have resisted it even if I wasn’t already familiar with the author’s work.

This is a dark take on the Queen of Hearts nursery rhyme. Ms. Reis has taken a beloved nursery rhyme and twisted it- producing a darker version full of fantasy and superb world building. I am not going to spoil it for you by giving away too much- but suggest going in a bit blind and let the author and her story surprise you.
It can be read as a standalone, but after reading this, I am intrigued by what the rest of the series might contain, so I will be doing some investigating to see what else I can find in this series.
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Natalina Reis!

Mimi, or as many know her, The Queen of Hearts, is not out for blood but revenge. She plays the game so well, the men think that they are winning even when they are about to lose what means the most to them. Poisoned wine but not the killing kind. What does the poison do? Read this tale and find out. Mimi is a spunky woman who will never be treated unfairly by a man again. She sticks up for the women around her and tries her best to give them the justice they deserve. This book was fun, thrilling, and a bit twisted but a very good quick read.

Little gems like this are what brighten my days. This novella was short, sweet, and spicy.
Our beloved fairy tales takes us down a dark path with unexpected results. This is only on book in a series of 27 twisted and dark versions of our beloved childhood nursey rhymes. Darkness has shadowed the light and this is other side. Jac and Mimi were perfect characters and our Queen of Heart is much more than meets the eye. It was a wonderful change to the story and the other fairy tales are already next on my list!

This was my first story by this author and I am so glad I took a gamble on the getting this book! I wasn’t sure what to expect, but this fast paced short story definitely kept me on the edge. I devoured the story and didn’t stop reading until I got to the end. We meet Mimi the Queen of Hearts, a gambling woman in a house of ill repute, who uses her looks and her games to ensnare the bad guys and teach them a lesson. One by one she will make them all pay, but when one of the richest and evilest men steps foot into her game, will it be too much or will the Queen of Hearts prevail? In a short story, the author was able to fill it with vivid descriptions and well-rounded characters with depth and heart. A definite page turner!

This book is absolutely one of my new Favorite. I love Ellawyn, she is so strong for knowing it’s better to get out then staying put with someone who is abusive. It sucks that she had to leave he family behind just to get away. I like Beckett because he loves his pops and uproots his life to be with him during this difficult time. He is so funny when he sees Ellie for the first time, he thought something was going on between the two. I love love love this book so much and hope there is more to come.

Morgan is a warm and with character that is written so that you want to follow her along in her journey. She doesn’t know what’s happening and you learn as she’s learning. The characters are all unique from each other and each brings their own brand of wit. If paranormal mystery romance is your preference, this is for you. It’s like a cozy mystery but with spirits. Morgan takes all of these new experiences in stride and is always willing to believe that they are possibly paranormal with a healthy dose of logic. And, of course, there’s Dr. Lightfoot. The romantic interest who can help her navigate this new found life twist. Highly recommended for relaxation reading.

I’ve such a weakness for cover art and this queen is no exception 😉it’s so bright and beautiful ❣️

I just love the queen’s brand of justice ! I wish we could implement it in this day and age !

The queens aka Mimi guards her heart closely but I’m starting to wonder if our delectable herbalist , Jac is going to sway her ….

Mimi also has suffered at the hands of men especially her husband , he really was a very cruel man and my heart yearns for her and those she helps she’s a real hero in my eyes …

Mac and Mimi make a formidable team and I must give it to Jac he’s really smooth and a worthy “opponent “

I wouldn’t spit on Linus even if he were on fire , what a despicable waste of oxygen he is 😡

I really enjoyed this read and it was a perfect distraction ❣️

Oh, Mimi, aka Queen of Hearts, what web of trouble have you gotten yourself into this time. This book is an entertaining drama. It is full of revenge, suspicion, intrigue, and romance. Alas, nothing is as it seems either. Set in the times when women were seen as property, Mimi (Queen of Hearts) has her own secrets that will come out as the story unfolds. I was pleasantly surprised to see such a turnaround in a character. She is actually a very strong character that survives a lot. She is full of courage and tenacity. Now, Jac, he’s pretty sneaky. He had his own secrets. He was entertaining to read because he flew under the radar. I can’t say I didn’t enjoy seeing Linus get what he deserved. You’ll have to read it to see what I’m talking about. This is a fun story that is well-written and well-developed. I loved the characters and the fact that the story took a whole different turn midway. Fascinating writing!! I highly recommend this story to everyone.

“You’ll always be my Queen.” Even typing those words has tears swelling in my eyes, I think it is commonplace for one to hear such words of endearment and love to be whispered to them. The respect that this author has created between the two main characters, Jac and Mimi is something magical, as is their connection and wanton to help each other in the end goal, along with the trust that is established in such a short amount of time.

This author wove a lovely retelling and as an avid reader, I thoroughly appreciated the quick character development, the descriptiveness of the world in which they lived in, allowing us to feel as though we were standing in the ballroom, or in the Ace, surrounded by others in this adventure. I gulped down this story in no time and am itching for more. Such a brilliant idea, and so well rounded, this author hasn’t let me down yet, and I will 100% be reading more works by her in the future. Heroines are my jam, and these Heels, Rhymes, and Nursery Crimes are exciting!

Dark Sparrow Box Set: The Complete 6-Book Series (A Dark Sparrow Novel) by India Kells – Review by Netania Lim

Dark Sparrow Box Set: The Complete 6-Book SeriesDark Sparrow Box Set: The Complete 6-Book Series by India Kells
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I’ve read plenty of India Kells’ books over the years and this series is one of my favourites. Each book in this set is about one of six bastard sons.

#1
I enjoyed the Chicago setting. This is a great romance thriller with plenty of angst and suspense. I loved the writing style and I loved all the characters. Highly recommend!

#2
This is the second book in the Dark Sparrow series and I loved it as much as the first. There was lots of action and suspense, and it kept me turning the page the whole way through. I love the way the author writes her characters with a lot of depth and complexity, as it makes for compelling stories. Highly recommend.

#3
I love any book by India Kells, including this one. There’s plenty of tension and intrigue, as usual, but I also liked how the characters felt less “alpha” in this one. This one had a great storyline that kept me turning the pages. This is a great romantic thriller to read.

#4
This was a great book! There was plenty of action, chemistry between the characters, and lots of suspense. I really loved the danger and intrigue of this book. This was definitely a page-turner.

#5
I’ve read several of India Kells’ books and I love their romantic suspense, especially in this Dark Sparrow series. In this novel, Sam and Ellie are drawn to each other by a connection where sparks fly immediately, but they both have dark pasts that they have to overcome to be with each other. I felt like I wanted more depth, as this was quite a short read and the resolution seemed too easy. Overall, a quick romance read.

#6
Knowing this was the last book of the series, this was just a fun read and I liked how it wrapped up the series. It’s still full of tension, suspense, mystery, and of course romantic chemistry as with all the previous books in the series.

Every book in this series is full of action and great characters, highly recommend!

Distant Heart Sounds (Nurse Morgan #1)Distant Heart Sounds by Kate MacInnis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a fascinating story. Morgan has survived brain surgery with a new talent: the ability to see and hear ghosts. She thinks she is going nuts but nope, she is just special. Savvy and Tiffany, her coworkers, are in on the secret and help her get through work. The new ER doc, Dr. Lightfoot, has some special talents also. He offers to help teach her about hers. There is a spark but due to some bad experiences, this relationship is going to move slow. I am looking forward to seeing how it develops. The doctor and Morgan have already had some exciting “fun” already. Now Morgan, she has more than it seems anyone can handle: live in ghosts (one is a little frisky); premonitions; and a few other items. The drama keeps you on your toes. She solves a few mysteries and sends some men packing. The characters are hilarious, especially the ER coworkers. They are just like that. Tiffany, the desk clerk, reminds me of a few that I have worked with. The descriptions were a little lengthy at times. I would have like more to the stories. Overall, the story had me giggling, especially when Mrs. Whitlock came to visit and when Jonathan tried to grab Savvy. An enjoyable story that gives you some paranormal, romance, mystery, and suspense. A little something for everyone. I recommend this you read this one.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was expecting your typical “brother’s best friend” story when I started reading The Mastermind; but wow! I was not expecting to have all the suspense, shaded pasts, danger, mystery, and romance! Nadia Han delivers wonderfully realistic and flawed characters along with a compelling story line in a book that was hard to put down! I was drawn to the characters and the sizzle and spark between Remi and Audri. They obviously care for one another, evidenced in the easy banter between them, but neither one wants to hurt the other with their troubled pasts. The twists and turns in the story made me keep turning, page after page, devouring the book! This was a first time author for me and she did not disappoint and has added a new follower. I cannot wait for the next book!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Victoriously Yours is the 4th book in the Titans of Manhattan series by Anise Storm, this series is just fantastic, it doesn’t hide from the big issues and doesn’t pretend that everyone in a novel like this is perfect touching on issues such as mental health and childhood traumas. Kenzie is a flawed character, she has been hurt in the past and this has affected her view of relationships, when she goes to audition for the job of a lifetime, she doesn’t expect her potential employer to be the same boy that broke her years ago. Jonas is a successful businessman, a playboy about town, but no one realises the extent of his struggles. This was a really enjoyable read; the main characters are very likable and the story keeps you engaged. I am very much looking forward to book 5 in the series.
