My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a great read! I am a huge fan of the author! I seriously love their work, but this one was a different take I found, and it was a damn good read. It had the humor and the craziness I truly live for! If you have never read this author before, you must for sure read this book by them!

Lockwood King was a treat for the visual of your mind. The way they were written, really gave the story the funny moments as well as the laugh out loud ones, and those moments where you raise an eye brow and wonder did I just read that kind of thing. There was never a dull moment in reading this one. I had a lot of fun, and reading this in one sitting was a perfect way to start my day!

Thank you to this wonderful author for such an amazing book. I do highly recommend this book, it is a fast read but for sure an enjoyable one. One that you can go back and easily read again! I most certainly recommend the author as well with no doubt. Freaking amazing author and writing!

I really enjoyed this book! This author was a first for me but I can say with certainty that it will not be the last book of hers that I will read. I found the writing and story line to be fast paced and very entertaining and the characters relatable.

Aranha is the last of her kind, a spider shape shifter. Being one of a kind can prove to be very lonely. Enter Jonas, her adopted werewolf son who helps to give her life a bit of purpose and companionship. They thought having each other was all they would need until Dag, a daywalker, entered the picture.

This book was a rollercoaster for me and I didn’t want it to end. I hope this series has many more to come!

This short romance is a delightful romp about the relationship between Emily and Desmond. Emily is a dedicated student working her way through school. She has never really had time for relationships. Desmond has the reputation for lots of quick romances in the hospital. When they have a chance encounter that leads to sparks, Emily decides that she wants the Dr. D everyone talks about.

There is so much heart written into these characters. They are like a family. This was a great quick read!!

Road Rage (OUTLAW, #4)Road Rage by Karina Kantas

Road Rage is the fourth book in the OUTLAW series by Karina Kantas. This is a story full of tension and intrigue, woven through a dark MC romantic suspense that had me wondering about the outcome right from the beginning. This isn’t my first book from Ms. Kantas, but it is probably my favourite, so far.
With intensity, emotion, interesting characters and storyline, a fast pace, MC politics, danger, violence, drama, chemistry, spice, betrayal, and more- this book made for a bit of a thrill-ride!
There were moments where the story slowed down or lagged a bit, and parts where I would have like to have seen just a little more detail and development- but this didn’t detract too much from my overall enjoyment of the story.
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Karina Kantas!

When I first started to read this book I expected it to be along the same line as other paranormal books but it completely surprised me. It’s very interesting to see other characters besides vampires and werewolves. This book draws you in from the first chapter and keeps giving you twist and turns until the very end. You will not be disappointed after reading this one.

As lovely as this haunting historical fantasy was if this book was longer, I think it would have reached its full potential. Having said that the story gives you a look at ancient Japan and trying to incorporate Western ways and their own traditions as history and fantasy meet.
The story is unique as Geishas, warlords, culture, legends, mythology, and folktales become reality. The world building descriptions make you feel as though you have been transported to mid-1800’s Japan.
This book is a quick read and is worth checking out.

I was hesitant about this story. But I love vampire stories so I gave it a try. I was so glad I did! What is in here is a wonderful story with characters that make the reader care and worry about them. I am completely surprised how much I love this story! The writing is smooth and easy to follow along. I was pleased with the movement of the story.

The characters are down to earth and realistic…to an extent. I enjoyed learning about the life of Aranha and the hardship she has endured. When she collects her adopted son, I couldn’t have been happier for both of them. Dag was a surprise and I enjoyed him and his friends.

Overall this story surprised me and made me look forward to diving back into it after a long day. I wouldn’t hesitate to read another by this author.

Whatever Tomorrow Brings (Embrace Tomorrow Duet Book 2) by Amy Argent – Reviewed by Dr. Anya Schultz

Whatever Tomorrow Brings (Embrace Tomorrow #2)Whatever Tomorrow Brings by Amy Argent
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Once again I thought this author was able to portray the heartache of reality built together with the ideas of love, hope, and perseverance. In the first book, it leaves you off in a place of fight – fighting to be alive, fighting the will to want to live, and fighting the emotions that come with struggles of cancer. At the beginning of this book, Will has chosen to fight to live, with Tori by his side. This will not be an easy journey and while both of them have their doubts about success, they decide to fight to win a life lived together. Without giving too much away, Will does make it home after extreme chemo and a stem cell transplant. While he does make it home, it doesn’t mean that survival is guaranteed. The story walks you through how Tori, along with others that love him, takes care of Will, both physically and mentally. We see the realistic and sometimes negative effects of recuperation such as low self-esteem, guilt, caregiver burden, and many other weaknesses. However, through these weaknesses, Tori finds ways to provide him dignity and ways of still feeling like a man. And day by day, you can see the shift in Tori as a caregiver, to becoming a full, equal partner in a loving relationship.

One thing I love most about this duet is the realistic nature of the story. In my previous review of the first book I mentioned that I have a daughter with Cystic Fibrosis and have been her caretaker for 10 years. As I read, I understood all of the feelings that were being portrayed, for both characters. I believe that having a healthy relationship between reality, optimism, and hope – it provides the best combination for fighting and resilience. Do we falter along the way, of course, but if you have a foundation to work from you can always find your way back to success. Will at the beginning didn’t have this foundation, but with Tori’s help ended up finding it in the end. The book portrays this balance very well and could provide a foundation for someone going through a difficult time but hasn’t found that balance yet.

Lastly, what I was most surprised by was the romance aspect throughout the book. Even in these situations I found them not only to be very steamy, but honest. Again the author has a skill for blending insecurities and reality, but still making me blush. The descriptions of these scenes had me picturing everything so clearly in my imagination – this is how I know I love a writer and a book. The characters just possessed and showed so much true love between the two of them that nothing was off limits, limitations could be erotic, and there are just some things that are worth the wait. I really love that I have found this duet series and look forward to reading other things the author has put out.

Road Rage (Outlaw series Book 4) by Karina Kantas – Review by Erica Shoebridge

Road Rage (OUTLAW, #4)Road Rage by Karina Kantas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

TW: Domestic violence and SA

A high-octane story with lots of danger and excitement. Gemma is unable to resist the siren call of the hot new MC, Rage. She loves to drive fast and live large, and protection and respect that comes with being a member of a powerful brotherhood. The motorcycle races that the club sets up for her are thrilling, and leave her breathless for more. But as the stakes get higher, and emotions run high, Gemma’s increasingly angry and risky driving puts her in danger. She’s also gained an enemy or two who want to see her dead. Will the club be the family she is seeking, and be able to stop those who wish her harm?

This story is fast-paced, exciting, and action-heavy. I found it to be well-written, and easy to imagine myself in the thick of the action. I was a bit disturbed by some of the violence, particularly towards Gemma, and the sexual expectations that some people had of her being a woman in that world. However, she is a strong character, and navigated these with aplomb. A gritty, dangerous read.

I am definitely drawn to paranormal romance stories and this one did not disappoint. I have read Angel lore before and it is one of my favourites to read. This one was an interesting (in a good way) take on that lore. The author was able to write in a way that made the reader really feel invested in the characters and empathize with them. I was very enthralled, and it kept me on my toes. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes paranormal romance but even more for those who love Angel Lore.

Hope

To him, I’m just an annoying voice in his head.

I never once asked for this ability.

I connect telepathically with people

who don’t realize they need my help.

Once done, I sever the connection.

This man though, he’s different.

Connecting with Russ is refreshing,

but I don’t know why after two months we can’t figure out the reason for the connection.

All I know is I’m getting way too attached.

But until the monster who used my abilities for his personal gain is found,

everyone I’ve ever cared about has to believe I’m no longer alive.

Russ

My mind has been invaded by a mysterious voice.

She can read my thoughts, and see the world through my eyes.

She’s frustrating and doesn’t hesitate to call me out on thoughts I would never share with anyone else.

She also saved me, more than once.

As we start to talk more and I discover she’s always on the run,

she says I’ll be the one to save her.

How can I save someone I’ve never met?

As a friendship develops and feelings grow,

I know that I’ll do whatever I can for her,

Especially when I learn the reason we were brought together.

Books aren’t her only addiction, though. Nikki can be found making up parodies to drive her son crazy, and bantering back and forth with her husband, who somehow manages to steal her away from the fictional world she lives in all the time.

Nikki lives in Arizona with her husband and son, where she can be found using every creativity outlet she can find through music, photography, handcrafted things, and random interests that she may pick up from time to time.

Magic, Romance, and Shifters – OH MY!

This is a zany, wacky story about a guy named Lockwood King.

There’s magic.

There’s humor.

There’s chaos.

There’s meddling by outside forces (but it’s for their own good – really, it is).

There’s sort of fated mates (fate gets a little push – okay, a big shove, but everyone deserves an HEA, right)?

There’s a bit of cursing (the magic and the swearing kind).

There’s inconvenient tentacle wrestling. (Don’t ask me, I just write what the characters tell me to).

And speaking of tentacles, did I mention the cigar-smoking octopus named Clyde?

If you don’t like absurdly unbelievable tales and magical mishaps, this probably isn’t the book for you. You’ve been warned.

This is a book that follows medical staff of EastPort General. I was entranced and read this book in one sitting. The characters in this novel, Dr. D and Emily, were wonderfully written and amazingly relatable. Emily has heard the rumors of Dr. D and that he rocks women’s world for one night and never shows anymore interest. All of this changes one night when Emily throws up on him. Their story from then on changes and grows. I am absolutely in love with this novel and cannot wait to read the other novels in the series!! Wow what is there not to like about this book?! This book is a good clean romance book that has a happily ever after ending. Poor Mary has lived her entire life in horrible conditions so much so that she almost collapses when she meets Noah as a part of an arranged marriage. Noah’s father died and changed his will making it where he would need to become married rather quickly or give up his share of the land. Throughout the time that Mary and Noah are getting to know one another they endure some struggles, but it makes them that much stronger. This is a new author to me and I so enjoyed this story of Noah and Mary. Both Noah and Mary were brought together over chance taken, especially for Noah or he could lose the land that was promised by his father upon his passing. When Mary is approached by a proxy marriage, she takes the chance and ends up at Broken Arrow Ranch. My heart just truly ached for Mary, the way she grew up and the pain she endured living with her father. I am so happy she jumped at the chance and hope for a better life in this story. Will Mary and Noah find that there is love for each other at then end of their “contract”.

This book just makes you feel good at the possibility of love, hope and a chance for something better. I am looking forward to reading more in this series.

This was an exquisite book done when it came to the historical part of Geisha’s and Japan. What a fascinating look at that period of time and a peek inside the Geisha house. Aia had a hard life taking care of them being whipped for any of the girls misdeeds. When she was thrown into the life and caught Nen’s eye (the king’s bodyguard), that is when the fantastical adventure began. The story was good. I do wish it had been a tad longer. I enjoyed the romance, just wanted a tad more of the Celestial Court fantasy adventure. The characters were well built. It’s a book worth reading. I would recommend it.

I loved everything about this book, the storyline flowed , the characters are amazing and just the right amount of sizzle. My only complaint is I wish it was longer because I want more. I love this author I’ve read several books by her and each book is my favorite. This is a fast paced short story about Emily is an Orderly working her way through school to get a nursing degree. She’s a very smart woman and the patients love her. Doctor D is said to be a great Pediatrician and also he’s known to be a player. One night out for Emily and sparks are flying. I really enjoyed this book. The story begins with Gemma and what she had to endure and survive during her time with the Hawks. She has found a new MC she wasn’t looking for and finds herself racing bikes again. Will this MC be different from the past? Time will tell.

She is very tight lipped and doesn’t speak of her past very often at all. As you read through the story you will know why. She appears strong with a very angry chip on her shoulder. This story will take you on a wild ride and leave you in tears at some points. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat trying to anticipate what is going to happen. If you are anything like me, you may even yell at the book from time to time. Trigger warning for this book.

I will be able to taste more authors and get different viewpoints about Eastport General. This is a contemporary romance, with lots of steam. Emily is a nurse finishing up school that works at the same hospital as Dr. D. Rumors run rampant about the sexy doctor and his one-night stands. Can Emily let down her guard and can Dr. D fall in love? Easy, funny, loving read. Can’t wait to read more books in this series.

This book caught me in it’s web and I couldn’t and didn’t want to break free until I finished it! I have never read a shifter book about spiders before and I am so glad I gave this one a chance! It was so good!! I said “one more chapter” until 1am and I was done. LOL! Aranha is the last of her kind. She’s a spider who is forever on the run from other super naturals who thought they killed out her kind long ago. She only preys on the worst people, so she can stay in the shadows and not draw attention to herself. Dag is a daywalker and one of the last ones left. His species is a dying bread as they have lost their only companions in the world with no other way to have children. Aranha walks into Dag’s bar and Aranha’s web spins out of control. She’s not sure she can trust him and he needs her help. Can a daywalker earn the trust of this scared spider and save a human from the vampires? They can’t believe that one another even exist, so working together might prove to hard. Aranha has only heard tales and doesn’t know what to expect from another species from The Garden of Eden. Dag sees a future for the first time in centuries, but will he scare her off before he can even explain? Boy oh boy, does this one just crawl up your spine. I for one would love to see this book turned into a movie! Hoping for more! I can see a great series with this one!!
