One word, Wow! No Way Out by Amy McKinley was an absolute fantastic read. No Way Out follows Max and Liliana and their Mafia families. Adventure, romance, surprises and more awaits you in the book so much so that I could not put it down. The story was seemless as it transitioned between Max’s and Liliana’s views and there was a moment that I wasn’t constantly wanting more.

Fate, Frankincense & Funerals takes place in Kharon the only place safe for Acheron, a Vulture shifter. He goes to spend the last moments with the dying to write their stories and help them be set free after death. He is shunned since he touches the dead and it is dangerous for him to go to Mandara. He makes the journey to the city that he is being pulled to, but is it just to write the last wishes and words of the dying or something more? He’s forbidden from taking a mate so what are his options when he meets Errapel to whom he is drawn to?
I actually really enjoyed this book. Naomi Valkyrie keeps you interested and even with the shortness of this book, you get a good sense of the characters and she even does pretty great with her character development. I did wish there were was more to this book and would have gladly kept reading. I am definitely interested in more of her books in the future!
This is an MM paranormal romance so I would recommend it to anyone who loves books like this! It was a good book and the first MM romance I had read. The writing is great and keeps you wanting more and it is a very quick read!
Fate, Frankincense and Funerals is a novel by Naomi Valkyrie.
The title of the novel caught my attention and I thought it was perfect for Halloween.
Acheron is a Vulture shifter that is shunned by society because of his involvement with the dead. He takes an assignment to go to the city of Mandara. There he encounters Errapel, the nurse that is looking after the soul he is there to assist. Errapel is also the reason he was pulled to the city in the first place. Law states that Vulture shifters are not to take mates so what is Archeron to do? Leave the man behind or fight society’s rules?
I love how Archeron tried to fight his attraction to Errapel at first. Even walked out the room when he suggested they could try. But I had a feeling he would give in eventually.
I really wish this was longer. It ends on a slight cliffhanger so I am hoping we will see these characters and learn more about their future together.
I have read a few books from this author and she always blows my mind. This is the second book in the very addictive Maffia Elite series. This book could be read as a stand alone but there are some previous characters in this story as well. I love a good mafia romance but this author always exceeds my expectations. I was so excited when I got this book I stopped everything and started to read it immediately. I was hooked on the very first page and I couldn’t put it down until the end. I can’t wait to see what this amazing author will write next.
Enzo and Sofia have known each other for a long time. They have been through a lot together since they both live the mafia life. Enzo told Sofia that he would always be there for her but when tragedy strikes they are ripped apart. Sofia is now a clothing designer and she loves what she does. She is approached by someone that says that she is in great danger. Sofia is then pushed into the life she wanted to leave behind but she feels that something is not right. She is face to face with Enzo once again. Sofia still had strong feelings for him but with a target on her back she needs to protect him. Will Sofia find her happy ending or will it be destroyed once again?
A great romance is portrayed in “The Groomsman”. This is a story about an unavailable, lifelong bachelor, Mark, and a hopeless romantic, Lauren. They meet at a wedding, like so many singles, but instantly have a strong connection. Only problem is Mark is emotionally unavailable and only like to have sex with women, but never a relationship. Lauren has him questioning all of those original insights he thinks he has. What he doesn’t tell her is that there is another person in his life that takes precedent. Lauren is a great character and while always wanting to find love, she is patient, genuine, and willing to work for what she wants. I loved watching her grow as a character and feeling pleased in the end with how she handled herself. Mark, however, over complicates everything and you kind of want to shake him into reality. However, in the end, the two characters find their way, flaws and all, in order to find everlasting happiness. I really enjoyed their love story and watching the ups and downs so many of us have dealt with in our lives. I think they could also teach us a few things about love: it is worth waiting, don’t over complicate an existing feeling, and if you stay true to yourself, but learn from your mistakes, anything can happen!

I enjoyed this Christmas romance story. This is a newer author for me and I can’t wait to see what is next for them. This is a well written story that is full of holiday spirit and romance. The characters have great growth throughout the story as well as kept it engaging. They are connectable and have great chemistry together. They pulled me into the story from the beginning. This is a story about Olivia and how she takes a cruise to avoid spending Christmas with her sister. What she doesn’t expect is to meet Navy Seal Jace. What will fate and Mrs. Claus have instore for these two? I enjoyed the Christmas spirit and magic that brings the holiday warmth. This is a great holiday story that I highly recommend.

This is an author that I never hesitate to pick up. I have enjoyed her books from the first one I picked up. They are well written and the author’s attention to details kept her books engaging and hard to put down. This book is no different. I was pulled into the story by the characters from the beginning. They bring the story to life on each page. They are connectable and made the story fun and entertaining to read. This is a paranormal romance story that is fast paced and hard to put down. This is a story about mountain lion shifters. A story of pride and letting go of the past, overcoming it. This is a great story that has great growth of the plot and characters throughout the story. This is a great pick and I highly recommend it.

Fate, Frankincense & Funerals by Naomi Valkyrie is a great MM paranormal tale. When I saw Naomi had another book out, I didn’t hesitate to grab it and as always she didn’t disappoint in any way. For once I actually read the blurb and found myself a bit sad, angry and torn for the characters and I still felt the same way once I dug into this fantastic story. It may be short, but it packs a punch. Naomi’s world building, characterisation and narrative have a way that draws you in to the heart of the story which I wish was a little longer because I wanted more. Society shuns them and archaic laws forbid them. Reviewed by @jennadb
Love discovering a new author especially when they have a series already established! This was the first of Marianne Rice’s books I have read, but I can’t wait to read the rest of the A Wilton Hill’s Christmas series! Liberty and Sawyer are both very likeable characters who kept me guessing as to what was going to happen next! And those family scenes – who wouldn’t want to be part of a family like that?!! Highly recommended!

Luke is the fourth book in the Default Distraction series by A.S. Roberts. This series just keeps getting better and better. This last book has left me with a book hangover. I just can’t seem to let the story go. Luke’s story is is both heartbreaking and heartwarming and had my emotions all over the place. Ms. Roberts is detailed in her character description and she really put in all of the feels. This is my favorite book of the year. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Roberts.

Spoilsport is book 2 in the Pierce Brother series. Just like the first book I was hooked from page one. Even though I had to take breaks here and there (I was at work, haha) it was definitely hard to put down. The banter between Nadia and Luke was comical at times due to her sassy and sarcastic comments. Even though Luke was the more serious of the two, and bossy according to Nadia, I felt like they complimented each other well throughout the book. Even though this is part of a series it can be read as a stand alone. If you like books that have strong willed and feisty female characters then you will enjoy this book.

Unlikely to Fit is the second book in the Parker Lake Series by Olivia Sherwood. This Rom/Com had me laughing out loud sometimes and had me reaching for my box of tissues at other times. This book should be read after the first book just so you get the whole picture in the series. I think this is my new favorite by Ms. Sherwood. This story flowed from beginning to end and I just couldn’t put it down. This book features Breckinridge Henderson, who just moved back home with her husband. He decides to start a relationship with the head cheerleader. So, Breckin is not looking for love after having her heart broken. Griffin Stephens had a bad relationship years ago that he just can’t get over, so he is not looking for love either. When they meet, the chemistry is hot. Will they get over their trust issues and come together at the end? This was such a fun book to read and the secondary characters are wonderful. I hope we get a book about each of her friends. I highly recommend this book, series and author. Review @sunbarn

I don’t normally read M/M romance but I love this author and paranormal romance. And I am so glad I did. The only thing I would want to change is more! Just me being greedy! This story is a really great quick read. I love how Errapel is so patient and understanding with Acheron. To do what Acheron does takes a strong heart, but will it be strong enough to fight?
Book 6, but great on its own, loved the push and pull bt MCs.
4.5 stars rounded up. Book 6 in the Billionaire Bodyguards series, builds upon previous books but can be read as a standalone. Tenacious was a quick-ish read romance, taking about 4 hours to read.
I enjoyed the relationship dynamic between Allie and Nick. There is a history that we saw built up throughout some of the other books in the series but it is explained well enough that I don’t feel you HAVE to have read the others to follow along, of course reading them is well worth the time as the series just keeps getting better and better.
Here we see Allie and Nick as the Main Characters in a will they or won’t they scenario. Allie is a headstrong nurse who will do anything for her patients and to help others, and Nick is a bodyguard simply trying to protect Allie from the dangers that are swarming around her. Nick is not the best at communication, at times keeping things from Aliie when he thinks he knows best, which of course leads to drama filled moments, but those instances didn’t have me pulling out my hair crying out “WHY?!”
I enjoyed getting to see some old faces and catching up on what’s going on. And of course, we have the overarching themes of the “good guy” mafia connections and fighting trafficking that have been prevalent throughout the series. Content Warning for depiction of trafficking and abusers, as well as shooting and other “good v evil” battles.

This is book #2 in this series. I encourage you to definitely read this series in order because it is involved. It is a Mafia romance with all the elements you love – secrets, danger, and family drama. Sofia and Enzo’s story started when they were just children, and you are cheering them on hoping they make it. I loved their love story. I want to keep reading in this world!!

This was a pleasant short story. I wish it was longer to be honest. I’d love to once about Carissa’s childhood. The things shes seen. I’d like to know what life was like for Azrael growing up. I thought the relationship between Acheron and Errapel was beautiful and complimentary. I want to know what lies in there future. I also need background info on how the towns were set up. And also, SHIFTERS?! I love it. I wasn’t sure how I’d like it but this story had an amazing concept, characters were well developed and the story line was magnificent .
My goodness, this is my new favorite read from this author! You can read this as a standalone as it follows another couple than book 1, but a great series so I suggest you read it anyways! Following Breckin and Griffin, two people hurt by love and life. Not two people you would imagine being together but my goodness what a pair. I really loved this story and the characters. You couldnt help but root for these two, feel the pain of the both of them and just want to hug them and be friends.

I absolutely loved this story!! It had a nostalgic feeling to me for some reason and reminded me of stories I read as a teenager. I loved the way Luke and Nikita meet. I loved the way the relationship with Nikki and his daughter progressed. I loved seeing into Luke’s head, and felt his thoughts and lows were realistic. One of my favorite books lately! I wish there were more than 5 stars to give because if there were, I would definitely give this book so much more! I just loved this MM Paranormal Romance and though this story was short, it really packed a punch. Azrael, who is the high priest and Sovran tasks Acheron, is a vulture shape shifter to go to Mandara to help tend to a dying patient. When Acheron arrives in Mandara he meets Errapel and the mate bond is strong. Errapel is a nurse attending to Carissa, who is dying. Her wish is to die at home and then transition back to Kharon. As Acheron gets to know Carissa more as he writes down in her final journal her childhood memories and all the way up to adulthood, there is more to Carissa that you learn and the secrets she shares. More than anything, she wants their world to change and she feels that Acheron and Errapel are to make that change with their bond. Will love prevail between Acheron and Errapel? Definitely read and find out, you will not be disappointed. I am really hoping that there will be more to these characters and this book so I am going to keep my fingers crossed :).
Debra has done it again with a short and sweet book. We get to know Leann, Betsy’s sister in this book. Her and Len have a whirlwind romance and are adorable. This book will leave you feeling good and happy. Can’t wait to see if there’s another book coming in the series

Luke by A.S. Roberts is book four of the Default Distraction series.
Luke hasn’t had an easy go of it. He often lets that define him. He was abandoned so he doesn’t let anyone close. He made it to the top but that doesn’t mean he’ll stay there. It’s not just him anymore though. He has to provide for his daughter. That’s where Nikki comes in. Nikki will do anything she can to help out her family, even at the expense of herself. She’s in desperate need of a job and that’s when she finds that Luke is looking for a nanny. Of course sparks fly and there is attraction between them but she can’t risk this job. She needs to provide for her family. Will the past be too much to handle or will their attraction turn into more?
I really enjoyed this story as much as the other books in the series. Nikki is a relatable character, always willing to help those she loves. I couldn’t get enough of this book!

LUKE (DEFAULT DISTRACTION #4) by A. S. Roberts was another great installment to this series. Luke is one of the sweetest men that I have read about in a long time he’s constantly blaming himself for his past mistakes. However if there is one thing we can all agree in it’s that Luke is an amazing father that always puts his little girl first. Bring in Nikki as his daughters nanny and it’s love at first sight. Much like the other DD books this one is full of drama, romance, friendship, and so many twists and turns that you’ll be furiously flipping the pages. But will Luke ever see the bigger picture? Will Luke and Nikki be able to overcome their obstacles and be together? You’ll have to read LUKE (DEFAULT DISTRACTION #4) by A. S. Roberts to find our for yourself.

Fate, Frankincense & Funerals by Naomi Valkyrie. I love Naomi Valkyrie so I knew this book would be great and I was not wrong! Its the story of Acheron a vulture shifter who feels a very strong pull to the city that he’s forbidden to go to. When he gets there he realizes its Errapal. Errapal is a nurse to the dying and I know I’ve been sent to help him. My attraction to Errapal is out of this world and I can’t deny it even though Vulture Shifters are forbidden to take a mate. As they spend more and more time together Acheron is more in love with Errapal than ever. Can they fight society and win to be able to be together? This is a great Paranormal romance that is steamy as can be. Its also very short so if you are like me you will fly through it in no time! Read this amazing story to find out what happen!
CADE (DEFAULT DISTRACTION #3) by A. S. Roberts is one of the best books I have read this year. Having read the previous two books in this series I immediately wanted to pick this up when it got my Kindle. I was definitely not disappointed this book was filled with drama, romance, friendship, love, and so much more. A.S. Roberts gives us great characters, a plot that pulls you in, and an ending that will leave you filled with love and hope. This story is heartrendingly beautiful. This is one of the best books I’ve read in a very long time, if not the best ever. Amy Argent did an amazing job of pulling me into Will and Toris world as they get to know each other and Will struggles with such a horrible illness. There is so much raw emotion in this book that I teared up more times than I can count, but it was well worth it in the end. Even though I thought I knew what to expect when I began the story, I was left surprised and eager to read part 2 and see how things turn out. What can be more beautiful than giving a person that brightens your day a reason to hang on and fight a little harder and a little longer even if ultimately you don’t believe they’ll survive? This book definitely has me looking at life with a whole new appreciation.
