Renewed is the sixth book in the Fateful Justice series by Sara Vinduska. I think the cover of this book threw me off a little, as it gave me the impression of a sweet, Hallmark-esque romance- which would have been great – but what it delivered was so much more. And I mean that as a good thing. I probably should have read the blurb, but sometimes I just like to choose by the cover and see if the story meets my expectations.
It is an engrossing romantic suspense with a bit of a forced proximity element, sexy cowboy, drama, adventure, intrigue, a little mystery, secrets, action, and tension.
Ruby has left city life hoping for a fresh start away from her past. But things don’t live up to expectation when she ends up saving a sexy cowboy who’s bleeding out from a gunshot wound. Yeah, so much for the quiet county life. Things heat up pretty quickly, but when her past comes back to haunt her, Hayden steps in to help her. What happens? No spoilers from me – you’ll have to read all the intriguing details for yourself.

Arriving Home (Lake Juniper Series)

This book woke me up at 2:30 am to finish it and I have a hard time saying no to books when they call out to me, especially in the middle of the night.

I fell in love with Elijah and Austin from the very beginning, by the end of the book I was even deeper with them. They both overcame so much pain in their lives. They carry the scars and are the people they are because of those struggles.

There were some incredibly hot moments, but the romance was definitely in the forefront. I wish all friends and family were as accepting as the people in this book.

There is some drama and angst but I feel it was necessary and made their story that much sweeter in the end.

Ms. Lauren is a new to me author and I’m so glad I found her. Definitely keeping my eyes out for additional books by her in the future.

I absolutely loved this book, start to finish. Watching Milo and Benji heal together from Kellen’s passing as well as their family struggles made my heart ache in some spots, but it was beautiful. The growth they had in this book was well done, and all around the book was a very well written and well developed story. Highly recommend!

Caitlin and Gio find themselves surrounded by Caitlin’s family. Gio is learning new things through the medical community and getting used to walking on uneven ground. Caitlin is wrapping her head around becoming an ambassador for the collective to the communities that are not included in it yet. Before embarking on their next adventure, they get married with family as witnesses and even share the day with two others! Life seems to be moving along happily until an old nemesis comes back into play. Tragedy strikes and threatens to destroy Caitlin and all that she has worked hard for. Will she be strong enough to get through to the other side? Or will the enemy of improvement win?

While this is only the second book in this series, I have been reading about these communities and people involved in the story for a while. They are like familiar friends. The author has pulled me into this story, and I feel invested in these people’s successes, failures, and heart break. This was a tough book to read in the sense that the tragedy that happens is thoroughly heartbreaking. I couldn’t bring myself to put the book down until I knew how it played out. It is so well written, and I hated that it was over. I always enjoy how the author pulls their titles into the book, too. They always find a way to weave it in and I learn something new with each book I read. This is such a good series. I look forward to seeing what comes next!

Regan and Pavlo are both authors, yet neither wants to associate with the other on their book tour. When things start to go awry with the tour requests, Pavlo and Regan have no choice but to put their trust in each other if they have any chance of ending the chaos with minimal damage. I was immediately drawn to Pavlo because of his strong commitment to doing the right thing and Regan because of her ‘do it myself’ mentality. The characters are so likeable! Mavery Ellscott does a great job keeping the reader in suspense and constantly upping the stakes in an already high-stakes situation.

Eli and Austin are wonderful characters who I bonded with and so wanted to see happy after all they had dealt with. Both characters have a lot to work through from past hurts that is for sure! The Evergreens, Eli’s family, were quirky and I loved that. I look forward to exploring more of this wonderful authors work.

Arriving Home (Lake Juniper Series) by Chelsea Lauren. This is another holiday romance but this one is of the M/M genre. Its the story of Elijah who is a romance writer and very successful until his heart get shattered and he has the worse case of writers block he’s ever had. Elijah normally hates writers retreats and being social but thinks if he attends the retreat at the Enchanted Juniper Resort he may break through his block. Enter Austin who has just landed his perfect job of head chef at the resort and he is on cloud nine. He gets free rent plus beautiful scenery but the only problem is its mostly couples here and he gets very lonely especially since its the holidays. When he and Elijah meet sparks don’t fly but he and Austin hatch a plan because Elijah has no house so they agree to pretend to be a couple so he can stay with Austin until the end of the year. The only problem is love has no pretend clause. Feelings get involved and they become more than pretend. Will they be able to get past their past and make it work? Read this fun story to find out!

Dark Moon Secrets is a paranormal romance by Lilliana Rose. We follow Tanjie and Alaric in this story. Tanjie is an orphaned young woman. She lives on her own in an apartment bought after her parents died. Alaric is the alpha of shifters and he hates witches. When they are brought together we get a fun and adventurous enemies-to-lovers story. The story is well-written. The world-building is cool. The characters are well-written. I love the relationship that Tanjie has with Caleb and Mia. I also really liked the chemistry between Tanjie and Alaric. I had a lot of fun reading this story.

This was an enjoyable read. It is a MM Romance which was sweet and engaging and at times heartbreaking because both of our main characters have pasts and demons that they are trying to work through. The author does an amazing job of writing about the after effects of an emotionally abusive relationship and how the pain still lingers and affects your life after the relationship has ended.
This is Austin and Elijah’s story. Elijah is a writer who is suffering a writers block. After his last book beared his soul about his past relationship with his narcissistic ex it has left him feeling vulnerable and exposed. So to help with this block he goes on a writers retreat in the hopes that a change of scenery will help. And that’s where he meets Chef Austin.

This is a story of overcoming pain and learning to love again in a healthy way. We join Austin and Elijah as they navigate these new feelings all the while trying to overcome their own demons. Their road isn’t easy and there is plenty of pain and and suffering along the way but one thing is clear is their desire and longing to be together. With the added twist of their fake relationship for Elijah’s family, it just shows them how wonderful things could be. But does it have a chance to actually succeed in real life instead of being a fantasy.
This book is beautifully written. You can’t help but fall in love with the characters and I desperately wanted them to find the love they truelly deserved but will they be able to overcome all the obstacles in their past and the ones in their future to stand any chance of finding it?

Orenda is the second book in the Latitude Series, which follows on from Antipodes. I’d recommend reading the Antipodes series first for the full backstory of the world the stories are set in, but you could jump in at The 45th Parallel which begins this next generation of the story.

This is a post-apocalyptic science fiction series that draws on mythology and traditional beliefs from around the world to inform a rich and widespread world of connected communities. As the story passes to a new generation, there is a focus on rebuilding the world and making decisions that will set it on a positive course for the future.

I really enjoy this series, and Antipodes, for the way it takes readers to all kinds of interesting places. The author describes these places in great and loving detail, which transports the reader to the place! In Orenda, it’s particularly fun discovering new places through Gio’s eyes who hasn’t spent his life travelling as Caitlin has.

This book gets five stars from me! I’m looking forward to reading more from this world.

This set of books was so different for me, but I have loved EVERY SINGLE ONE so far! This is a sequel to another book (The 45th Parallel), but it is also an extension of another set (The Antipodes series). Which was also AMAZING!!! You really have to read the previous books, because there is SO MUCH information you will miss. They connect with this book so you will be lost in many ways. You COULD read it and kind of follow along, but just read the others first!! You will not regret it! Just trust me on this! I found myself lost in these stories. Rooting for certain characters and not liking a couple. Feeling heartbroken for some and wanting to reach into the book and hit an idiot or two. Hehe. The worlds that are created in these book are amazing and really make you think about the possibilities of something like this truly happening. You can just see it all in your mind unfolding. This would be a WONDERFUL show/movies series in my opinion! A virus has wiped out the planet. It’s in the water and kills everything it comes in contact with. Plants, animals, and humans aren’t safe. Scientists and the government came up with a plan to save as many people as they could by setting up bio-domes around the world (you learn about all this in the first series of books). Yes! So interesting right?!?! You HAVE to read these sets!! Both of them!! In this book, Caitlin and her new husband Gio travel to Canada to become new ambassadors for the ACC (Association of Collective Communities). The ACC tries to bridge the gap between communities (not at all easy!), come up with solutions to any problems that may arise (there are SO many!), and offer new opportunities that will benefit all the communities AND all the generations to come (can you even imagine!!). Keeping everyone safe from the virus. but also still growing and thriving is a hard battle, especially when space is so limited! Caitlin proves herself in many ways and is respected by her people. She helps where she can, gives everyone new ideas, and helps make things more efficient. All great for a new leader. But as she builds her family with her husband an old enemy comes along and threatens everything!! Their security, their loyalties, and their lives. You will not want to put this book down! I don’t want to give anything away, but man oh man will this have you on your toes and gripped into your seat. Tragedy strikes (again!), revenge comes about (ugh. again!!), and everything they’ve worked so hard for could be destroyed (again!). The world ended guys! Can’t we just get along! The future looks bleak bleak bleak! I am not at all sad to say that I stayed up a little tiny bit to late, so I could finish this book. LOL! I can’t wait to read more from this author. I am so invested in these characters and world!!

Sometimes there are books that will drop a nugget of inspiration, an ah ha moment, the exact right feeling at the exact right time. Arriving Home had such a nugget for me:

“Reminding myself how small we are in the expanse of the universe, sometimes it helps calm my overactive mind. Other times, it reminds me how it is all bullshit. Because I’m living and breathing in this moment, and I don’t need to minimize how a situation feels to me. I’m allowed to feel it” -Elijah

This MM story is a hope for love. The romance is sweet, sexy and just what every holiday needs. A quick and easy read, this book takes you to a winter wonderland resort for writers. Picture perfect settings are bound to inspire some romance for writer Elijah, who is coming off an abusive relationship, is having a writer’s block and is wondering if true love exists. The perfect storm. Austin on the other hand is the head chef at the resort and loves love but believes he will never find it. Sure they both enjoy sex but they both also are dreaming, yet unsure of, finding love. The two form a bond almost instantly but this author gives it a slow burn covered by pretending to be boyfriends. We all know that never works out like the characters think it will.

Recommend this book and this author.

Orenda is the second book in The Latitude series which is an extension of the Antipodes Series. This is a Sci-Fi with a Super Natural feel. I’m loving this series just as much as The Antipodes Series. Each book gets better and better. The characters are relatable and fully developed and make the story come to life. Caitlin and her husband Gio take us on quite the adventure as they work through the struggles of taking on new roles that lead them to new places. What will happen when an old enemy emerges from the past? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I’m looking forward to reading more from this Author.

Bad at Being Good is a best friend MM Romance and what an emotional read. This is a story that had me hooked right from the beginning and I devoured each page. Emotions ran high in this story, romance, secrets, turmoil, grief, forgiveness and promises. This is a fantastic story and I highly recommend this read, but please keep in mind to check the trigger warnings.

Kellan is Milo’s big brother but also Benji’s best friend. Never expecting the worst, Kellan unexpectedly loses his life and a downward spiral of grief and guilt with so many fingers pointing on “fault”..Milo has always been in love with Benji, but after Kellan’s death, Benji pushes everyone away dealing with his grief differently. After a year, Milo and Benji reunite…questions are asked and some answers you do not want to hear….but after it is all said and done…..will Milo and Benji be able to have the love and forgiveness they deserve even when some very hard secrets are revealed?

This story is fantastic and the author did a great job on sensitive subjects. Very well done!

I have loved this series from the start of the original series! This one follows Cait and Gio’s story. So much happens and there is so much character growth. As always the author does an amazing job of describing the world. There are plot twists that I was not expecting at all and was taken by surprise as the story unfolds. You don’t have to read the first series to understand this one but it definitely gives you the full back story. I do recommend reading the first book in this series so you can know where Cait and Gio started and how their story plays out. I was also pleasantly happy with the ending and cannot wait for book 3!

Finding the End Zone is a romance about the Hotshot Jock and the Nerdy English major.
Callahan and Jamaica are characters to fall in love with and the story line is easy to follow.
The writer does an impressive job connecting the reader with witty banter and steamy passages between the characters that keeps you interested. This is my first read with this author but it definitely won’t be my last.

Simons’ first set of series of Antipodes was absolutely amazing and when I heard about this new series that derived from Antipodes, I was very much eager to get the reading going. The 45th Parallel brought in different themes from the Antipodes series, which I fell in love with as well. Once this latest book came out, I wanted to know where the next adventure would take in this new series! If you are a fan of romance, dystopian, adventures, challenges, paranormal, etc., you will definitely enjoy this story as well.
This story focuses on Caitlin and her husband, Gio, as they become ambassadors for the ACC and end up in Canada on their assignment. Although Caitlin demonstrates natural leadership qualities, they struggle to find their place in this new location. The struggles of all these new roles of wife and leader test the limits of the newly married couple along with adding the element of unexpected old enemies reemerging. Such a good story and so many details. Make sure to read previous books as it will give you a deeper appreciation for what to expect in this story.

Benji made a promise a long time ago and now he finds it harder and harder to keep that promise. Milo has grown up from the boy he used to be into a man, a man that Benji promised to stay away from. When grief brings these two men together emotions come into play and their attraction cannot be denied.

This is an engaging story that pulled me in right from that start. Milo and Benji are each dealing with their own problems but together they may be able to find their way. It was nice to see the relationship grow between the two men. Emotions take center stage in their story and will pull on your heart at times. The two learn that life is full of ups and downs but with the right person at your side you can survive and even thrive. The author does a nice job of bringing these characters and their emotions to life.

Warning right up front: this book covers some very serious topics including death, grief, and addiction.

I enjoyed this book. Each of the characters comes to life across the pages. The multiple POVs allows you to really delve in to how each of them are dealing with the guilt and grieving surrounding Kellan’s death. They are each trying to heal in their own way (even if some of those ways are VERY unhealthy). As Milo and Benji are there for each other, trying to keep the other one from spiraling, promises made in the past are harder and harder to keep. When the twist came I was definitely shocked but it was woven nicely into the story.

I enjoyed the characters as they grew both as individuals and together. I also enjoyed getting a glimpse of the other people that surround them in their daily lives. At times, the story felt so real that I had to remind myself that these characters are fictional. A good book that I couldn’t put down til the end.

Bad At Being Good by A.L. Morrow is a superb MM romance with a best friend’s (younger) brother/brother’s best friend element, chemistry, drama, angst, tragedy, promises made, pain, emotion, and steam.
The story also contains sensitive topics which some might find difficult to handle, such as; grief, death of a loved one, mental health issues, addiction, drug over dose, and guilt.
The author has done a fantastic job of developing her characters, crafting each into fully realised individuals with their own unique quirks and flaws. And I appreciated that they continued to grow and develop over the course of the story. Each dealing with their own baggage, as well as all the emotions that came into play. Their shared pain, struggles, and challenges also made this story, and characters, tug on my heartstrings a little harder than I expected.
Well worth the read.

This is such a fantastic book! It is the second book in the Shadow Defense Security Series. However, it definitely can be read as a standalone but note that there is some character overlap.
This is a fantastic security book that features a strong alpha male and an equally strong female main character. In this book, Pavlo and Regan are featured in a Slow Burn enemies to lovers story. Both Pavlo and Regan are fantastically developed characters who take you on a roller coaster of an adventure filled with major twists and turns. Mavery Ellscott is fantastic at creating a thrilling plot that keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat with every turn of the page. It is her crafting on the plot that definitely has me anxiously awaiting the next book in the series. I definitely recommend reading this book!

Most Christmas stories are predictable, what’s nice about this one is I got some wrong.
Going in I was worried about the instant connection with America and Leo. Their chemistry felt like they’ve known each other for years. I laughed at all of her “dateline” worries. Would have been hilarious for her fear to have been something around that for the bonfire. But when we actually get to see what was on their letters my heart exploded.
I do wish we would have gotten more with the situation with Leo’s brother. Especially since the book doesn’t feel like it ends on a cliffhanger.
I loved all of the characters we meet, they’re all so happy but I still felt the different personalities, they weren’t flat.
I really just recommend this book to anyone who loves Christmas romances or wants to be put in a Christmas mood. This definitely had me wanting to play Christmas music and pray for snow.

“But promises are meant to be broken, and if there’s one thing I’m bad at, it’s being good.” I can relate.
I love the name of this book. I have read a lot of AL’s books and have enjoyed them all, so I was excited to see a new book was out. I grabbed it and jumped right in, and I was not at all disappointed.
I am so glad the story is told in my favourite way and that is dual POV. It is the best way to have a story told because you connect with the characters more and it reveals more about them and their thoughts.
Bad at Being Good is a LGBT romance tale. This MM Brother’s Best Friend Romance tale is sexy and is bit of an emotional read. It’s a tough journey for them after one man’s death made everything fell apart.
It is so easy to love these characters and feel for them when there is grief, pain, sorrow, hurt, longing, wanting, hate and love are just a few things they are going through. There is also drama, tension and redemption. I just wanted to take all the pain away from them I was so invested in them.
He’s back! Will he break his promise to stay away, or will he follow his heart?
If you’re a fan of sexy MM tales, then you will love this one.

This is the first book in the Hot Flash Hookups series and I loved it. I laughed so hard at so much of this book. The fact that the characters were aging and not perfect 20 something’s was awesome. Olivia and Roman’s story is wonderful. What is more fun then having their respective kids meddle in their romance. I can’t wait for the second book to come out.
