Beyond Friendship (The Irresistible Series Book 3) by Marlyn Love – Review by Kerry Carr

Beyond Friendship (The Irresistible Series #3)Beyond Friendship by Marlyn Love
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 3rd book in the Irresistible series but they can be read as a standalone. However after reading this one you will definately want to go back to read the first two books. This book was such an emotional read you will definately need tissues. The author does an amazing job of creating so much chemistry and tension between the two main characters but also showing the reader the confusion, heartbreak, guilt and constant battle they have to go through to not give into their feelings.
Brian and Amanda chemistry is electric right from the first time they meet. Little did Brian know that the woman who could be the one is his best friends little sister.
After Brian was warned to not mess around with Amanda, they both decide it would be best to remain friends.
Brian has never done relationships. He has always been a guy for 1 night stands but when we learn more about his story and the secret he hides from everyone which makes him live every day like his last we can understand why.
Amanda is such a sweet character who is a romantic at heart. She feels the power of the attraction between herself and Brian and wants nothing more than to follow her heart and jump right in but Brian keeps pushing her away.
Can this couple every overcome the obstacles in their way? Will Brian ever be able to confide in his friends about what is really happening to him? And what happens if they leave it too late to give their feelings for each other a chance? Could they potentially miss out on the love of their lives all because of the risk of spoiling their friendship?

Honestly the writing of this author is so beautiful you feel every emotion between these characters and I was cheering for them all the way, even though at times I wanted to bang their heads together and make them see what was in front of them. Beautiful story, emotional read and chemistry that was off the scale this was a great read.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I decided to read this book. I was really hooked on it from the beginning. It starts with an unexpected few scenes and it doesn’t let up. It keeps it going throughout the entire book. It has so many twists and turns that I didn’t know if I was coming or going. It was AMAZING!!! I haven’t had a book keep me on my toes like this one did in a while. This book has so many amazing characters that have been described to the point that you can really picture them. It has so many details in the surroundings. This book paints vivid pictures that your mind can actually conjure what the author is describing. It has parts that had me rushing to the next page to see what is going to happen. If you like historical romance with a twist, I highly suggest reading this book. I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t want it to end.

This book is the start of a new series. It is an amazingly quick read. If I have one complaint it would be that I didn’t want it to end. I wish it was a little bit longer. It is about how to gain our strength after divorce. Well, that is what I took from it. It has some amazing real life scenarios that is relatable to some readers. Not necessarily the divorce but any break up and rebuilding your confidence. Since this is a quick read I feel that the time spent on the getting over the relationship was given the right amount of length. I love he Bella that main character of this book, after her pity stage, was able to go out there and discover what she was missing. It is a journey into self discovery. I really enjoyed the steam, the sass, the humor, and the story overall. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series.

This is an author that I never hesitate to pick up. This is an author that I have been reading for awhile and I enjoy her writing skills. She uses details to bring her stories to life and have a realistic feel. This book is no different. This is a well written story about breaking down walls. Hadley has put up walls to protect herself and with good reason. Ross is determined to break down these walls. Can he keep her safe from those who want her to keep her secrets? I enjoyed how the characters pulled me into their world. They are connectable and add so much to the entertaining value which makes it easy to read. I enjoyed watching the chemistry and growth of these characters throughout the story. This is a fast paced, engaging, hard to put down story which I highly recommend.

Wow, this book blew my socks off. I was excited to see a new story in this series and it so outdid itself. Ross and Hadley’s story is one of big challenges that must be overcome. It’s not a story for those that can’t handle tough topics. Trigger warnings for DV, sexual assault are what I would give. Ross is a man who will protect the women he loves no matter who gets in his way. I loved the writing. I was absolutely engaged the whole time. The characters, such as Kyle and Pete, were secondary yet very supportive. There were also ones such as Cutter who were a surprise. It is well-written and well-researched. It’s another wonderful addition to the series.

Beyond Friendship (The Irresistible Series Book 3) by Marlyn Love

Beyond Friendship is the third book in The Irresistible Series and is a wonderfully written Contemporary Romance/ Best Friends little sister Romance that I couldn’t put down once I started reading. Going into this book i thought I knew what to expect being this is a best friends sister romance. Well I was wrong on my assumption and what we got was so much more. This is my first book by this author but I’m definitely a fan already. Im definitely going to be looking into the first two books in this series. This authors style of writing and attention to detail along with raw, yet developed and relatable characters make for a wonderful story. I literally felt like I could feel the emotions coming from the characters. What I wasn’t expecting either was the emotional rollercoaster ride but man it was worth the heartache I felt for Brian. This is Brian and Amanda’s story. He has a big secret he keeps hidden. He’s a one and done kinda guy and doesn’t let anyone in. He thought he was not looking for love but boy does that change when she walks into the room.. Amanda is one of those hopeless romantics who wants it all but its come at the worst time. Oh my these two had my emotions on high at times and my heart ached for them. Definitely have some tissues handy as you will definitely need them. Can these two get the happy ending they deserve? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I’m looking forward to reading more from this Author.

Oh my goodness Blake is having a tough time of late and she deserves a break and some real people and love and happiness she deserves it all !

So Blake is out work at the moment but she’s smart I’m sure Harvard will get her on staff sooner or later 😉 she’s divorced and I say good riddance to bad rubbish , she was told she can’t have children and the house she was staying in just flooded 🫣🤣 I laugh but it’s not because I’m unkind it’s like really what else can go wrong !?

Morgan is a delectable man , he is strong and yummy , a good friend and yummy and a doting father and yummy ( yes he’s yummy 😉😜🤣🥰) he is raising precious Ciara ,9, by himself but he’s in need of a nanny and then he has to deal with Fawn on top it ! I don’t like her and won’t name her again because she’s a waste of space ! Harsh I know but plech she’s awful !

I love how Blake loves her books and languages yet can get down on a child’s level ,she loved Ciara from the first moment as if she were her own and her needs always came first ! At a stage Blake felt like she was loosing herself and often I think as moms and wives feel like that and that says a lot about how dedicated she was in her role as carer Morgan is a lucky man . I love the unexpected blessing that came their way and that their little family grew 🥰

Morgan and Ciara need Blake just as much as she needs them ! She just slots into their family , they were made for each other 🥰 being part of their journey had me laughing , crying , getting angry and just wanting to see them happy . Their story felt real , characters became a part of you 😍

It started right where the previous book ended, almost where it ended, after the major event happened. I love how the author just grabs your attention with the flow of the story. I especially love how she incorporates the minor characters in with the major characters. This book is very hard to put down and it definitely grabs your attention with everything that goes on in the story.

This was a quick novella, but a really fun read. I feel like I was able to get to know the characters well in a short time and there was a lot of action. The main character is dumped by her husband of 12 years and needs to deal with it. She learns that he has been cheating and her friends are excited that she may become more like she used to be. She is heartbroken, confused, but goes out with her friends as the time goes by. I like the idea that the novellas will all become a longer story and can’t wait to read more. I’m not sure how the title fits in yet so I am waiting to read more and understand it. I also am American and I think some of the sayings were weird, but maybe that is just how the Brits say things, almost like words were forgotten. Overall, I really liked the storyline and characters and can’t wait to continue the story!

Liar, Liar (The McIntire County Series Book 4) by Winter Austin – Review by Julie Johnson

Liar, Liar (The McIntire County Series: #4)Liar, Liar by Winter Austin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I can’t get enough of this series and this writer’s stories!! They grab you from the first sentence and hang onto you until the last word. Each story is full of adventure, mystery, romance, suspense, and lots of shenanigans.

This story focuses on Sheriff Shane Hamilton. He’s had a pretty rough year and that election was something else. Coming up on a very trying anniversary, Shane is looking forward to having some private time to think back over the memories of the past 19 years. When his phone starts ringing off the hook and messages are blowing up the line, he soon learns that a body was found and his idea of a private weekend is now blown to pieces.

FBI Agent Liza Bartholomew wasn’t planning to return to Eider, Iowa anytime soon. She’d rather not ever step foot back there after the last adventure she had. However, her latest suspect is leading her to Eider and some familiar faces she hasn’t seen in awhile. Trying to keep a very low profile, Liza gets word of a murder when she stops at a local convenience store. Her cover may be blown and her suspect now might get word of her arrival. Everything is blowing up in her face and her plans are shot.

When the sheriff and the FBI Agent end up realizing their cases are connecting and they find themselves spending more time together, feelings start to erupt that neither one wanted initially. The romance build is fun to read about these two!

I highly recommend reading these books in order as the back story is important to really understanding the characters in this series. I’m sure it could be read as a stand alone but there will be some important features lost. I’ve really enjoyed this series and can’t wait for more from this author!

The Earl, Her Reluctant Guardian by Wareeze Woodson – Review by Jennifer Crain

The Earl, Her Reluctant GuardianThe Earl, Her Reluctant Guardian by Wareeze Woodson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this historical mystery/romance. One of the main reasons is the vivid descriptions of the setting, for example “fog hovered barely above the ground, gray, cold with a threat to engulf the entire area distorting sight and sound,” for it made me feel like I was in the 1800s. The budding romance between Jacob and Vanessa.

I am always looking for words I don’t know, and this book didn’t disappoint with the word benighted; or the unrest against Napoleon in France (which I didn’t know about it). The Vanesssa character was also written excellently, for example, one of my favorite lines was “I’m not a dashed female jumping at shadows” and “she was not some helpless, spiny ninny.”

Overall, I would highly recommend if you like a fast paced, intriguing story about two people destined to fall in love.

A sweet take on Christmas magic! Holly is traveling around the world to find cheer so the elves can continue making Christmas magic. What Holly doesn’t realize is that she’s stuck in a never ending cycle that she created herself. What is she missing? Interactions with people!
A bit of magic brings Holly to spot a flyer about a fall festival in Emerald Hollow.

The flyer intrigues her and Holly decides to see what the festival is all about. As she starts to connect with the people in the Emerald House and in the town of Emerald Hollow, Holly finds changes she never expected! As she meets Ash and his friends, Holly begins to find the joy in helping with the festival decorations. Meeting Ash and other people in Emerald Hollow is the start of something special for Holly, the elves, and for Ash!

I read this book as the first holiday book for the season as we move into October. It really got me looking ahead to the Holiday season and thinking about other Christmas books to read this year. The story is great, the atmosphere is perfect, and adding some romance is the icing on the cake or maybe I should say hot cocoa!

Oh my gosh guys!! You have to read this set!! You COULD read this one without reading the first few, BUT I would NOT recommend it! Just read them all! You will not regret it and you will fall in love with these characters and their cute little town. Plus the other books give you looks into the other character’s lives and small town life. Buckeye Falls, Ohio is a small town, everyone knows everyone, and the rumor mill is QUICK! Alice unfortunately has a bad rep in town. She’s finished with school and traveling and now she’s back living at home. Yes with her parents! In her 30s and still living at home. Something the WHOLE town won’t let her forget. The whole town (especially her parents!) won’t let her be when it comes to her future plans and her love life. “She’s not getting any younger”. She comes up with a plan that might get them off her back, but will she be able to convince James? James is an artist that leaves New York for small town life after his divorce. He’s been blocked when it comes to his painting and staring at a blank canvases all day has him itching for inspiration. Will he be able to get out of his head and heart and make some beautiful art again? When the two of them have a run-in in the library they both light up! James has some inspiration finally and Alice has a plan for the rumor mill of town. Alice convinces James to fake date her to keep the town at bay and James jumps at the chance to be around his new muse more and more. Will these two crash and burn with their little ruse? This book is super cute and so funny. I laughed out loud like ten times reading this! Maybe more!! You can’t help but fall in love with these characters. Each book is so good! I can’t wait to read more from this author and I hope she continues the Buckeye Falls series with more characters around town!

Having not read the description when I picked this book up, I was expecting a fun romance story. I was not expecting such an emotional rollercoaster. I instantly became hooked on the story and the characters and loved how everything developed. Although this is the third book in the series, it is the first book that I have read by this author. The characters are what really caught my attention with this story. The way the author portrayed them really had me invested in the story.
I thought the whole book was really well written. It was engaging, emotional and kept you wanting to know more. After reading this book I will definitely be going back to read the rest of the books in the series and I am looking forward to discovering what else this author has to offer.

The Earl, Her Reluctant GuardianThe Earl, Her Reluctant Guardian by Wareeze Woodson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Earl, Her Reluctant Guardian is a paranormal historical romance that is a little twisted with lots of suspense. I am not a huge fan of historical romance I can take it or leave it but throw in something paranormal and I’m all set to go.
The story flows easily and her passion for historical romance shines through Wareeze’s work. She has a distinctive and descriptive style of writing and uses language reflective for the time period and does a great job of transporting you back in time period.
Vanessa doesn’t do what she should, she strides through life by the beat of her own drum just trying to survive. She is used to being my herself, no one to care for her. She is excited to start a new chapter in her life, but she soon finds out that it is not what she expected. In more ways than one. Just what kind of hellhole has Vanessa found herself in.
With a meddling Aunt, a plethora of relatives, a guardian underfoot, murder and so much more plus a ghost thrown in it has all the markings for an intriguing read.
If you like a good historical romance with a little ghostly visit and lots of suspense, look no further.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sins of the Father is Book Three in The McIntire County Series. It is a romantic suspense book packed with drama, action, mystery, intrigue, suspense, and murder. This book can easily be read as a standalone, but I do recommend reading the entire series because it is amazing! This story centers around the characters of Deputy Jolie Murdoch and Former Marine Xavier Hartmann. Jolie has had a difficult past and finds herself struggling to find her confidence and self-worth. When she sets off to find a missing girl that disappeared after a local event, she stumbles onto something far more sinister. Jolie finds Xavier covered in blood standing over the body of the girl’s father. He has no memory of what happened, how he got there, or if he killed the man. Xavier has traumatic brain injury because of an IED blast while he was in the service and is prone to having blackouts. The trauma from his past has also left Xavier feeling worthless and lacking in self-confidence. Jolie wants to believe he is not responsible for the man’s murder and sets off to find the real killer. As she delves into the case, she discovers this case is very similar to a cold case that her father had when he was Sherriff. As Xavier and Jolie work to find the real killer they lean on each other for support and find strength in one another. Digging into the case unravels secrets, lies, betrayal, and complex family dynamics. This was a page turner with great characters, an intriguing storyline, and twists and turns that will keep you reading until the end.

Liar, Liar (The McIntire County Series: #4)Liar, Liar by Winter Austin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 4th book in the McIntire County Series. These books can be read as a standalone however once you read one you will want to read them all. I love this author’s writing. The stories are gripping and full of twists and turns that keep you guessing until the end. The descriptions of places and people are what really brings this story to life. If you close your eyes you can picture everything as if it really existed and you are part of it. As with the previous books this is a murder mystery with a touch of romance. This is a story full of secrets and lies as well as danger for present circumstances and heartbreak over past experiences. The main characters are both stubborn and headstrong and this is what causes some of the conflict between them.
Sheriff Shane Hamilton has a lot to deal with. With the anniversary of his wife’s death and now a dead body being found the last thing he needs is an FBI agent coming into town and making an already stressful time even worse.
Liza Bartholomew has returned to the County on the trail of a dangerous man who keeps evading her. This could be her chance to finally capture him and bring him to justice but she needs the co-operation of the local sheriff who isn’t exactly thrilled to see her.
Could there possible be a connection between the sheriff’s murder and the dangerous man Liza is after? When everyone they love and care about becomes targets they realise they need to work together if they are going to stop the person responsible. Is it possible for them to even work together? What will happen when the feelings turn from a dislike of each other into something romantic. How dangerous will it be for both of them to let down their guards and allow someone in to their lives.
This book is a real page turner which I couldn’t put down. There is so many angles to this story but the way they all come together as they story unfolds really make these books enjoyable to read.

Liar, Liar (The McIntire County Series: #4)Liar, Liar by Winter Austin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Another gripping read in this series set in McIntire County, and once again the setting was brought to life through the descriptive narrative. It was nice being back in Eider for another standalone story, which had me hooked throughout. Eider’s sheriff Shane Hamilton is dealing with the fallout over his recent re-election, a rash of arsons and two homicides, alongside his own personal grief, so he definitely does not need a determined FBI agent looking for vengeance in his County. FBI agent Liza Bartholomew is tracking an elusive scam artist which results in her returning to Eider, but is surprised when the town’s sheriff is decidedly unhelpful. However, Liza is looking for justice for the scam artists victims and her career is also on the line so is determined to stay. Shane and Liza are then forced to work together when they realise their cases are linked, but as their professional relationship turns into a more personal one, the body count is mounting. The couple find that it’s not just their lives at risk by their continuing investigation but also their love ones, but they continue to try and stop the cold hearted killer before he stops them. I loved the main characters and how their relationship developed throughout the story. The storyline and plot twists kept me guessing as to the outcome of the investigation and I found this a real page turner!

The last installment from Cruel Start and Cruel Hate, Cruel Love fell flat for me! When I finished Cruel Hate I really had high hopes as the series had picked up for me but the story line of Cruel Love didn’t capture my attention as I had hoped! The awkward plot of Pheonix being fourteen and everyone keeping secrets from him just wasn’t the hook I personally needed. There was a slow build up to the end but not anything that really blew my mind!
Cruel Love also ends on a hook in hopes to get readers to continue on with the brother, Shane’s story.

Faking the Fall (Buckeye Falls Book 4) by Libby Kay

Faking the Fall is the fourth book in the Buckeye Falls Series and is a Contemporary Romance with a small town Romance Vibe that once you start reading its hard to put down until you’ve finished. I would recommend reading the previous books if you haven’t already started them as each book is about a different couple but there are characters that overlap. Plus this is a wonderful series I can promise you won’t be disappointed. This might be my favorite yet. There’s plenty of drama, humor, nosy neighbors and so much more. Alice is back in town and hopes to put her past reputation of being the wild child behind her as she follows her dreams of owning her own business. James is struggling and feels stuck with no inspiration for his art while being new to town. The two of them meet and the plan to fake date is proposed to get the nosy busy bodies off their backs. But what neither of them expected was for it to feel so real. The more time they spend with each other the more feelings they get. Can their relationship be more than they both realize? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to see what this author brings us next.

Liar, Liar (The McIntire County Series Book #4) by Winter Austin – Review by Angela Hayes

Liar, Liar (The McIntire County Series: #4)Liar, Liar by Winter Austin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

4.5 Stars

Liar, Liar is the fourth book in the McIntire County series by Winter Austin, who ups the ante again with this fantastic addition to the series. I have been loving this series and was excited to find out what Liar, Liar had in store for us.
It’s an intriguing romantic suspense with crime and investigation, murder, mystery, action, danger, a cold-blooded killer, dramatic developments, tension, emotion, secrets, politics, duty, responsibility, and finding love unexpectedly- all wrapped up in a gripping storyline that had me hooked right from the get-go.
Sheriff Shane Hamilton and FBI agent Liza Bartholomew are forced to combine their efforts and join forces when their respective cases become connected. The stakes get higher as feelings become involved- but with a dangerous killer in the mix things are going to get even more complicated. What ensues makes for a gripping read.
Even though this could be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the previous books before starting on this one, as they will help lay foundations and ‘build’ a bigger picture which will help immerse you in the series.
Not sure where we go from here, I hope this isn’t the end of the series though…
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Winter Austin!

The Earl, Her Reluctant Guardian by Wareeze Woodson – Review by Amanda Haller-Doris

The Earl, Her Reluctant GuardianThe Earl, Her Reluctant Guardian by Wareeze Woodson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Well this book definitely threw me for some twists and turns. The story absolutely starts off with a bang and just continues the pace from there. Vanessa is definitely not a timid shy girl. She absolutely is a take charge type and I thought she was a great character. The added in suspense of murder, spies, and ghosts made this such an intriguing novel. Jacob, the Fifth Earl of Danville, was such a wonderful opposite to Vanessa. Seeing their relationship grow and change during all of the chaos was extremely well written. I loved that along with everything else, we have a house full of relatives who Vanessa had no idea was living there. There was a cast of descriptive and interesting characters throughout the novel. If you love historical romance, with a twist of paranormal and suspense, this is a great book!

Faking the Fall (Buckeye Falls Book 4) by Libby Kay – Review by Carla Clemmons

Faking the Fall: A Buckeye Falls NovelFaking the Fall: A Buckeye Falls Novel by Libby Kay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh how I waited for this one to come out! I love the way this author writes love and relationships. It is the sweet romance we all need to bask in. This story follows Alice and a newly introduced character. It’s the kind of story to give the warm fuzzies inside. Alice hasn’t always followed what Buckeye Falls deems the normal small town path. She just wants to prove them wrong and get them off her back for a while. So she comes up with a plan. A pretty good plan actually until things take a very unexpected turn. Then just when you think everything is bliss things take an unexpected turn. I really do love reading about Buckeye Falls and only wish there were more books in the series. You don’t have to read the series but I highly recommend it! Side note I like soggy corn flakes too.

Heart’s Rescue (Fallen Hearts) by Meredith Hart – Review by Helen Dawkins

Heart's Rescue (Hearts Below, #1)Heart’s Rescue by Meredith Hart
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 1st book in the Hearts Below Series. I blew through this book in one sitting. Truthfully, I liked the romance/relationship between the two main characters, Arryn and Rowan, more than the mystery and adventure in the story.

While the adventure is not boring, it just falls a little flat and I felt there wasn’t many details on what was actually going on besides the people Above thought they were monsters below and the people below thought they were monsters above. There wasn’t much background on why the wicked forced people to suffer down below or why anyone thought they were monsters. There also wasn’t a clear understanding of WHY the King Below wanted to break the barrier. We also don’t know much of Roman’s powers and why people are scared of them. The void itself is also another unknown, but that part didn’t bother me as much. It also was a little confusing how the Royal Guard treated Rowan, sometimes they seemed overly nice and at other times completely hated him – with no context as to why (besides his mysterious powers no one even knows the full extent of).

With that being said, I did very much enjoy how the relationship evolved with Roqan and Arryn. I absolutely loved BOTH of their growth, not only together but in their own separate growth. I love the new Arryn and Rowan, and I enjoyed watching them get to where they ended up by the end of the book. I wish we would have seen a little more interaction with Rowan and Phaedron to really grasp the brotherly bond between them.

I will definitely read book 2 and recommend this series to those who love a little romance with their fantasy and fae characters.
