Bound By Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops Book 2) by Amy McKinley has secrets, tragedy, an abusive ex-boyfriend, family relationships, and some twisted logic in the part of one character. This book is about Jaxson a recently retired Navy Seal and Kayla who finds herself in an abusive relationship and runs away to hide. Jaxson and Kayla have unresolved feeling for each other from when they were kids. The night they finally got together as teens, Kayla’s brother died in a tragic accident and things got kind of messy. Although Kayla was holding onto a lot of anger and hurt, she reaches out to Jaxson for help with Roy and how much danger she is in.
The story is well written and kept my attention. Jaxson and his brothers were in the first book so it was nice to have that background. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

This is a book full of plots twists and action-packed. It has plenty of suspense and intensity right from the beginning. The connection between Dolan and Daught is romantic but they definitely go through a lot, both together but also in terms of their past and backstory. So I really enjoyed following their journey. This is a bit of a thriller/paranormal which is not normally my kind of genre, but I did enjoy this nail-biting rollercoaster ride of a book.
Is This Me? (Being Me Book 1) by Tricia Copeland. I loved this book so much. It brought me back to my college days. Its the story of Amanda who is beginning her first year of college. Coyote Summer by Laura Koerber is a coming of age book that deals with hard issues, teen drinking, rape, peer pressure and a host of other issues. This is the first book I have read by Ms. Koerber. I enjoyed the writing if not the issues. The story had me feeling like I was right there in Ben’s world. I also enjoyed the fantasy element in this book. I would definitely like to read more from this author. Review by @sunbarn

I found this book interesting to read because it deals with the harsh reality that marriage isn’t always perfect and happy…it takes a lot of work! Kris and Nicole’s story is told from both sides….which took a couple chapters to get used to. However, once I did, I found it intriguing to see the story from both sides. Kris is in love with his wife…but wishes she would give as much effort to her family as she does to her job. Nicole is a workaholic who is trying to please her boss, at the expense of her family. There were times that I found myself disliking both Kris and Nicole…only to come to the realization that this is real life. Relationships take constant work and failure to work at it, or let it sit idly on the sidelines, will cause to to begin to crumble. This book is not a quick read…but it is worth it. I would set the book down and come back to it to see how their story would conclude. It just drew me in and I felt invested as the story continued. Overall, a good read!

This is a fantasy novel and comes in around 230 pages. This does touch a bit on rape, so reader beware as this could be a trigger for some. This story follows Ben, Clint, and Claire as they grow up together. They were all supposed to grow up and become something. But one fateful night proves to change their lives forever. I felt this was a great coming of age story and the choices younger ones must make and the possible impacts of their future.

This is a romantic comedy and comes in just under 100 pages. This story follows Ace, a comedian, and Ella, a bank teller. Ace makes a bet with Ella, but her friends warn her off and now she is curious if he really is the a hole they tell her he is. But can he prove her friends wrong? This is definitely a book you can read in one sitting. The characters were great, and I found this book quite entertaining.

I have read a few books from this author and she continues to blow my mind. This book has my two favorite genres, second chance and military romance. This storyline exceeded all my expectations. This is the second book of the addictive series of Deadly Isles Special Ops. They don’t need to be read in order but there are previous characters in this story as well. I was so excited when I got this book I stopped everything and started to read it immediately. I could not put this book down until the end and I can’t wait to read the next book.
Kayla Kane leaves her abusive boyfriend and she has to lay low. She finds herself back in her childhood city. Kayla starts to think about her brother that died in an accident that was never solved. She is shocked when she sees her high school lover, Jaxon. Kayla can’t help but to have feelings for him but he broke her heart. She doesn’t want to get hurt again but she needs his help. Kayla knows her ex is watching her and sooner or later she will be in danger. Will Kayla and Jaxon be able to heal from the past or will there be more secrets that will ruin it all?

This is an enjoyable read. The writing made me wonder what was going to happen next. All of the characters are solid. Each has a secret and they worry that the other will not like what they learn. I enjoyed them meeting and everything that came after.
The secondary characters were wonderful. They are interesting and fun and add to the story. I hope we get to see more of them in the future.
Overall I Enjoyed this and zipped through it fairly quickly. I look forward to reading more.

I thoroughly enjoyed this fun and steamy novella by one of my favourite authors, Phoebe Alexander. I loved the main characters, comedian Ace Bennett and Ella Craig, the lady he invites to his comedy show. Ace then dares Ella that if he succeeds in making her laugh she has to have a drink with him. I was really cheering Ace and Ella on hoping they would get a happy ending after lots of meddling from friends and a number of misunderstandings. This was a lovely romance with a bit of drama and plenty of steamy scenes and a chemistry which sizzled off the page. All of which resulted in me reading the story in one sitting. An enjoyable and engaging short read, perfect for some escapism.

Hell In A Handbasket (Book Three of the Life Is Hell series) by Naomi Valkyrie was a great read! The paranormal misfit family is back! Or at least I see them as a bunch of paranormal misfits that shouldn’t work out together but for all intents and purposes they do. Each book in this series I think gets better and better. I enjoy learning about more of the characters through each book in this series. This book had me laughing with the funny antics of Larkspur. I can’t wait to read more of him in the next book! I love the inclusivity of this series as well. This is quickly becoming a favorite! I can’t wait for the next installment!

This is the first book in the Born Of Darkness series and wow what a start. I love anything to do with vampires so this book was perfect for me. I really liked the adult theme in the relationship between our strong female character and the male vampires.
Dawn knows something is different about her but she doesn’t know what that is. After a run in with what she believes was a human serial killer she is shocked when she realises its a vampire and that another vampire saves her.
Now with the hive of the dead vampire after them Silas knows they have to leave and keep Dawn safe. Not everyone in his hive is happy with that idea especially not their leader Markula.
As they leave to escape the vampires after them the relationships between them grows and they learn that by being with Dawn their powers are increasing which is just as well if they are to defeat the forces against them.
Can they face the odds and win? What is Dawn? Is she human or something more? Can their love survive or will Dawn be the death of them all?

A Hole by Phoebe Alexander is a super cute and funny read!
Ace Bennett is following his dreams. Recently moving back to Pennsylvania to live with his college friends and to start a new career. When he sees a girl who absolutely blows his mind, he finds excuses to see ger at her job.
Ella is working as a teller at a bank and the last few weeks a very good looking guy comes un and flirts with her. When he makes her a bet that she cant help but refuse, she agrees to go see him after work.
Can Ace show Ella that he is more than meets the eye? Can Ella find her way past what others have told her about Ace?
The chemistry between Ace and Ella was on fire. The characters are funny and the story well written!

I read A Hole by Phoebe Alexander which was first released in Big City Heat Anthology. This story is a good reminder that friends are so important. And Ace’s friends are hilarious! I hope there are more stories about them! Ella and Ace are the victims of a misunderstanding and friends with good intentions. Hopefully, those friends can help them figure it out.
This is a quick funny and steamy read which, while it is book 1 in the Alpha Bet Guys series, it can be read as a standalone.

Hell In A Handbasket Life Is Hell Book 3 By Naomi Valkyrie ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ WOW! Prepare yourself for this Paranormal Romance. So many things going on, it will need your full attention. Not really! But really. This is another visit to Juniper Lake and the paranormals who live there. Right under the noses of the humans. Welcome to Teivel and Orens story. Here we have a Demon and a Demon Hunter working together, hanging out and well, making this book come to life. Can this work for Teivel and Oren? Can two hurt people open their hearts and find what they are looking for? Only reading this book can answer that question. This could be a standalone story, but I recommend you start with Book 1.
Naomi Valkyrie has captured my heart again. Her story is well written and leaves nothing out. I have fallen completely in love with the characters and love the prankster pixie. I laughed and cried, sometimes both throughout this story. I love this series and can’t wait to read book 4. Well Done Naomi Valkyrie! Well Done!

I couldn’t pick this book up fast enough after reading the first in this series and absolutely loving it! I enjoyed this one almost as much, McKinley’s writing style is so easy to read and her writing just flows effortlessly which makes for a really relaxing reading experience, despite the fact the plots are so fast paced and thrilling.
This plot was less thrilling that Twisted Secrets for me personally, which is the only reason I have given a lower rating than the previous book. I – again – really enjoyed reading about Jason and Kayla and I thought Jaxon’s character in particular was very well explored. I would have enjoyed a little more background on Kayla. Having said that, I loved the storyline involving her and Kieran. And the final paragraph of the book genuinely brought tears to my eyes and really moved me.
I think if you want a book that has lots of twists, some steamy romance scenes and a thrilling plot then Amy McKinley is definitely a good author to get to know. I will absolutely be continuing this series and cannot wait to see what the characters will have to face next.

Love at First Haunt (Haunted Ever After Book 1) by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Gail Guerrero
Four Stars
Love at First Haunt was a fun mystery filled story. The author had a great play on words. Knew how to keep you engaged throughout the story. Allison is a physic that took a break due to a mental break down. Her character was great throughout most of the book. She was definitely trying to grow. Logan was on his way to going insane with his empath abilities. The ghost haunting his property were definitely not helping. They both have a lot of baggage but they find a connection. I enjoyed the flow of the story and the character growth. They knew what they were afraid of in the other person and worked to overcome it.

Capturing Fate by Abbie Roads an intense and interesting five-star read. This is number two in the Fatal Truth series, but they can be read as stand-alone, they do cross over as the timeline of this story encompasses the other, you will get a couple of spoilers but if you dot mind that you don’t need to have read Saving Mercy first, but you may want to go back and read it. This one is a little more crazy and when you read it you will understand what I mean, its mega crazy, but its also mega good. The suspense is just sublime and Daughter and Dolan just pull you in and make you feel the story as well as read it.

This is the third of the Adams brothers series and this time it is the turn of Sebastian Adams,he is the youngest of the three brothers, but he is still successful. In his own right as a jazz musician, where he plays the tenor saxophone with the Jazzmen, or at least he was until an alcohol fueled mistake sent him back home and into recovery, but it is harder than it looks and when he ends up teaching in a music store, he realises that he has no idea what to do with all the time he now has. Maelie Barre is the daughter of a world-famous violinist who is just as talented, but she prefers to teach the violin rather than perform with one, plus she is successful at it and her students love her, not to mention that she is writing a pedagogy book and trying things with her students to see how the exercises would work with their intended audience. Both of these musicians end up next door to each other at the store and are introduced to each other when she walks face first into the door which Sebastian has just opened up in front of her to let their boss out of his room, but when they see each other for the first time, they have no idea how to act around each other, but at least Maelie can blame it on her head, Sebastian just just has to use his notable charm to cover his reactions up.
When Maelie gets home, she is bombarded by her housemate with questions and concerns which she doesn’t really mind, but tries not to show it. The next day Sebastian is woken up at an ungodly hour by one of his brothers who is trying to convince him to go running with him, but Sebastian just wants to go to bed, but he appreciates his brother checking in on him and offers to come over for a boys night with his other brother if he feels lonely. Meanwhile, when Maelie arrives at the studio the next day, her thoughts are still filled with Sebastian and the fact that he will be next door, but she tries to push them aside and prepare for her students, however, when Sebastian gets in, she ends up having to go and see him to demand he keeps the noise down so she can actually do some teaching. When Sebastian’s first student arrives, he goes into full panic mode and fumbles his way through while sweating profusely and wishing he had come in with more of a plan.
The next day, Maelie and Sebastian have another confrontation about the noise, but they also cannot deny the attraction between them and how itis developing the more arguments they have, but neither of them want to admit it to the other, however, their bodies aren’t getting the memo and when Sebastian ends up having to give Maelie a lift home when her car breaks down, they can’t deny it any longer and end up getting kissing and this just sets off a chain reaction, but will they give into temptation, or will other outside influences stop their passion in its tracks, as they help each other to recover from life’s challenges? This is a scorching romance which will pull you along in its wake and leave you wanting to know how the story ends and not letting you go until you find out.
Love at First Haunt by Carrie Pulkinen a five-star read that will sweep you away. This is just simply so much fun, I adored the story, the characters and the spookiness. This is number one in the haunted ever after series and I am so eager for number two, there are some great characters in this one, and you can see them developing and sniping and just creating a great story adding depth and drama at each turn. Allison Grey will sweep you into the story and just enable you to forget everything and just enjoy the story.

A Hole is the first book in a new series by Phoebe Alexander. The series is called the Alpha Bet Guys. Each book is about 1 of a set of 5 alpha guys who like to make bets. I’ve been a huge fan of Phoebe Alexander’s work for a couple of years now and just knew that I was going to love reading A Hole. The ‘A’ in A Hole is Ace, a comedian who has a massive crush on the bank teller in the building he works in but the thing is her friends has told her he’s an A hole! But is he really? This is a funny, hot steamy romance that I’m sure you’ll love if that’s the kind of book you enjoy. It is a novella so it’s not a long drawn out story. It’s fast and flows well and I can guarantee that you’ll be hooked to Ace and Ella’s story.

When a dark sexy handsome saxophonist rents the studio next Maelie will her would turnaround just as its getting settled.
Maelie is from violin royalty her father is a brilliant violinist and while she appreciated all that came with the fame of her father she too has passion for the instrument but wants to be acknowledged for her own ability. Which brings her to now, she is comfortable and has found true passion in teaching this wonderful instrument. While her life is going along on track, what happens next may knock her straight of course with her new neighbour in the studio.
Seb is at the height of his career and when all that comes crashing down after partying to hard and drinking excessively he needs to regroup and prove to himself and his peers that he is okay to come back into the world he left so abruptly. He decides to teach the instrument which has given him the greatest pleasure but boy if he thought teaching would be easy think again. Then add in the sexy uptight neighbour who is invading his dreams will he every be able to go back to old life again.
I loved this series and all the brothers but I think Seb has always been my favourite with his hint of bad boy about him, this book was a great look into the character and see that actually he is sweet as the others. The story was well developed and flowed through brilliantly with the interactions between these two characters. I love Mindy’s writing and this does not disappoint to conclude this series with no real what if questions. Although these books are great reading as a series I feel that they can also be read as a stand alone story and you would get just as much excitement.
I can’t wait to read more books by this wonderful author.

Yet again another 5 star read from Ms Alexander – I never bother reading the synopsis to her books now I just grab it and go because I know it’s going to be a great read and A Hole was no exception. It’s a great start to this new series and although one of this authors shorter books it was in no way lacking her sparkle. It was funny and entertaining, I loved the characters Ace and Ella, and they were so great to read about. Ace captured my heart form the beginning and I just knew Ella wouldn’t be able to resist him! I was rooting for them the whole way through the story! I’m really excited for the next book in the series!! I highly recommend this book!!

What a great read! Trent and Tina’s story pulls you right in from the beginning. Not only do you get steamy romance but there’s creepy encounters as well! This book definitely kept me reading late into the night with great plot twist! Definitely looking forward to book 3!

A Hole is the first book in the new Alpha Bet Guys series by Phoebe Alexander. In typical Phoebe Alexander style this story was a fun, sexy, witty and very entertaining story. It’s a novella length contemporary romance/ romantic comedy, making it easy to read in one very enjoyable sitting. Ace Bennett is trying to make a name for himself as a comedian. He meets Ella and we watch as he tries to win her over. Add some meddling friends to the mix, a few misunderstandings, a little angst, plenty of chemistry, humour, and a whole lot of heat- and this really made for a fun read. Happy reading!

I really enjoyed this story. This isn’t the first book I have read by this author but it is among one of my favourites. The characters are well written that you can’t help feel a connection to them. Add too this the usual steamy read by Phoebe and it was a book that keeps your gripped from the beginning.
I love the characters of Ella and Ace and the attraction that sizzles between them. After Ace invites Ella to his show he makes a deal if he can make her laugh she has to have a drink with him. Cue the comedy. With friends interfering and misunderstandings will this couple every succeed in being together or will it just continue to be one big joke?

Climbing The Walls (Hart & Cole Book One) by Sacha T.Y. Fortune was a great good read. It was very engrossing and entertaining, by being a very realistic novel. The characters weren’t exactly likeable, which I assume was the point with the whole theme of the novel. Both had their faults in matters at hand. While I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel and found it engrossing when I could get into it, a lot of the novel was out of my grasp I felt because it was very drawn out. It felt like it was written in a stream of consciousness kind of way, and that kind of writing style makes my mind wander and makes it hard for me to focus on the story. But overall this was a very good novel and I can’t wait to read more from this author in the future.
