4-stars

The Bastard Prince was a fun and witty read, it’s the second book in the It’s Raining Royals series, a series that I believe should be read in order as this book sort of plays off the first book, so for reader enjoyment I would recommend starting with book 1.

I love how this author writes with such detail, making everything play out clearly in my mind with each chapter. I really enjoyed the witty banter between the characters, it kept me on my toes and laughing out loud.

I look forward to reading more from this author asap!

This is the second book in this series which I enjoyed just as much as the first. I highly suggest reading the first book as well as it is that great. I enjoyed being pulled into the story from the beginning by Sasha and Amaud. They are connectable characters and made the story engaging. This is a well written romance story that is fun and entertaining to read. This is a faster paced story that kept me turning pages to the end. This is a story that took me on an adventure that these two may just get more than they are looking for. I enjoy their chemistry and the growth of this plot throughout the story. I really enjoyed what the characters brought to the story and how the author used details to give it a realistic feel. I highly recommend this book

But admitting that sad truth tends to reduce an ambitious, fit, plucky journalist to “you poor sick girl.”
That is so not who I am! Especially not at the Cannes Film Festival.
I’m here to schmooze, interview, and hunt scoops for my magazine. Above all, I’m here to pursue a major story that will be my breakthrough.
The key to the bombshell is a local man called Arnaud. The cocky studmuffin—bless his heart—thinks he can charm me out of my panties.
Shall I tell him he’ll fail at the sleeves?
Not yet. Not before I find out how much he knows.
And how much I can get him to blab.

All but Sasha, that is.

I wonder how she became like that…
Did a cruel fiancé jilt her at the altar? Or did her dad abandon her as callously as mine did me?
Anyway, here comes the hilarious part:
A half brother I just met wants me to work with Sasha to solve a 200-year-old mystery and save his—and my—secret realm. He’s nuts, of course.

Four Stars

Dating the It Guy is a YA, High School Coming of Age story by Krysten Lindsay Hager. This is the first book I have read by this author, but it definitely won’t be the last. The characters are amazingly detailed and the emotions had me all over the place. I was laughing one minute and reaching for a tissue the next. This is one book I couldn’t put down, it brought back memories of my high school time many years ago. I would recommend this book to anyone no matter their age. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Hager.

Stella is a workaholic with no social life other than brunch and the occasional scary movie with her two BFF who happen to be her cousins. Stella is putting in all this hard work in hopes to get a promotion. But what hoops will Stella have to jump through in order to get the promotion? The owner of the company requests a meeting with Stella, this could be her opportunity for the promotion but she must move to a small town four hours away for her family and city life. Johnny the country boy mechanic who loves small town life rescues Stella when her car ends up in a ditch in the middle of nowhere.
This book had me hooked from the start. I loved the fun banter between Stella and Johnny. This book was very relatable, funny and it sure did have some steamy moments. The author Katrina Marie did an amazing job with this book. The descriptions had me feeling like I was right there alongside Stella and Johnny. I can’t wait to read the rest of the books in this series.

The Boss Prince (It’s Raining Royals) by Alix Nichols

4 out of 5 Stars

The perfect way to spend a lazy afternoon! The Boss Prince is a sweet, HEA romance with a little heat! With a few twists along the way, Alix Nichols keeps this story interesting to the end.

Lucie brutally got dumped by her boss/boyfriend. She knew better but it was easy with Jerome, her ex. Lucie swears to herself never to get involved with a co-worker again. She intends to keep the promise to herself, until her new boss is a hottie carved out of steel and marble. Lucie tells herself that it doesn’t matter how hot he is because he is way out of her league and there is no chance. Max Delaroche is a secret prince from someplace no one has ever heard of, and, if he has his way about it, plans to keep it that way. Max hires Lucie because she is the beginning of a plan to keep his principality safe. Max is totally enthralled by Lucie and her sassiness. Can he keep his secret, even from her?

This short read is filled with humor, love and intrigue. Is there a mole in the palace? Can Max keep Lucie safe from his enemies? There are more questions than answers in this book. We can only hope that there is more to come from these two! This cute caper is the perfect beach book or (like me) way to spend an evening!!

The Boss Prince (It’s Raining Royals) by Alix Nichols is a great fun romantic comedy. While I have never read a book by Ms. Nichols before I can definitely say that I will be reading more from her in the future. Her story was perfectly developed, with just the right mixture of fun, romance, and just a light touch of paranormal. I actually picked up this book because the cover intrigued me, and I was looking for something light-hearted, and a quick read. Boy was I not disappointed, Ms. Nichols developed not only wonderful characters but a fantastic country that will keep her readers hooked through the whole story.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Alix did a fantastic job bringing these characters and this world to life. Lucie has just lost her job, her boyfriend, and her positive outlook. Max and his family were preparing for what his mother had seen; the key to the keys, the solution to their ongoing problem. A job listing is put out where Lucie will find it and the company name gave me quite a chuckle the first few times I read it. The progression of the relationship between Lucie and Max and the ongoing mystery throughout the story made for an excellent read. There is chemistry, there is drama, and there is so much more going on than what either character realizes. I loved the first portion of this series. The writing is great, the characters are easy to love (or loathe depending on who we’re discussing), and the storyline is left open for so much more as it goes on. I look forward to reading more from Alix Nichols and if you’re looking for a romantic and funny story with a bit of mystery, I highly suggest you pick this one up!

As both Max and Lucie work together, feels start to develop…but will Max and Lucie find the first key that is hidden in a fan so the royal family can keep control of their world? This is the first book I have read by Alix Nichols. Max is racing to save his small secret country, can he do it? Lucie just lost her job, her boyfriend and needs money. Will a weird ad she comes across be the answer? She is smart, outspoken, and a strong female. Can she help Max and protect her heart? This book had a little bit of everything to keep me turning the pages. Romance, laughter, detective work, and chase scenes!
Am excited to see where the next book leads us.

What a fun read! Kind of a romantic comedy mixed with international heist. The chemistry between Max and Lucie is combustible. They do crack me up. I mean Max’s family needs to take a chill pill. Prophecy, schnophecy, pshaw, haha, what will that do, says Max. Lucie just goes along with what she thinks she is supposed to do and they have the adventure of a lifetime. They also have some steamy times on their adventures. As I mentioned, this is a quick read that is quite entertaining and a bit steamy in spots. You won’t be disappointed. It’s well-written and laid out. I’m looking forward to seeing how things are laid out for Max’s brothers. i’m hoping for more fun adventures down the road.

Gone Country (Cousins Gone #1)Gone Country by Katrina Marie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Gone Country by Katrina Marie is a cute and sweet small town love story. I do enjoy how Katrina brought her characters to life.
Stella, a workaholic, has been given the opportunity to go to the small town of Asheville TX to get the new company distribution center up and running. I enjoy Stella’s independence when it comes to her job, but outside of work her codependency on her cousins Audrey and Tiffany is disappointing. As the story moves on we witness her growth in independence outside the workplace. As someone who is all about one’s independence it brought a smile to my face reading through her journey.
Then there’s Johnny, a tall dark and small town man handsome. He not only helps Stella in her disaster on arrival, but he has his own demons to deal with when it comes to intimate relationships. Being scorned by his high school sweetheart he reminded me of a lot of people in this world who have insecurity issues but want to put that behind them and move on. Though never an easy task.
I loved the sweetness of this story as well as the growth of Stella and Johnny, not only individually but also together.
The way Katrina Marie presents her character development, I will definitely be looking into more of her books in the near future!

Easy-going, lighthearted read! Gone Country by Katrina Marie is a sweet, east read romance!

Stella is a city girl who picks up and loves to the country for a job and meets country boy Johnny! Though they are from two different worlds, the collision of their worlds into this romance was sweet and fun —and funny! I found myself laughing out loud during parts and enjoyed getting to know the characters.

Katrina Marie has a comfortable, easy-to-read writing style and this book entertained me and was a pretty fast read! I’ll look out for more by this author.

This book was very cute. I enjoyed the idea of and undercover mission and Lucie not knowing the identity of Max. The name of the organization was fun, too. I have never hidden nor denied the fact that my heart and soul belong in the countryside. I was born and raised in the ‘county’ and wouldn’t have it any other way. I have spent my fair share of living in cities, but it’s never really felt like home. This novel really revolves around the mixed feelings that Stella feels when it comes to moving from her big home city of Austin, to a small little Podunk town of Asheville. Not only is she leaving the hustle and bustle, but also her cousins, which she describes are more like sisters in every capacity. I truly enjoyed getting to know Stella, as well as understanding her bond with her cousins Audrey, and Tiffany. Katrina Marie does an amazing job at incorporating the importance of girlfriends, as well as being able to own the independence that lays beneath the surface.

Now, Johnny, on the other hand, sounds like my type of man! The perfect gentleman, but has that alpha side to him that just, for lack of a better description, makes me, and obviously Stella, swoon. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the characters and being able to really picture the scene where the story is set, and the small town ‘family’ that Stella is welcomed into almost immediately. Of course, it’s not always super easy, and people have history, and past relationships, which Stella and Johnny navigate as best they can, especially within such a whirlwind romance. Overall, though predictable, while reading this novel, I had a smile on my face, enjoying all the emotions, and the experience itself. Looking forward to reading more by Ms. Marie!

I really loved this romance story. The author does an amazing job of mixing a romance and making it so funny at parts I actually laughed out loud. The author does a great job with her characters. I love Lucie. She is a funny straight talking woman and it’s her personality and attitude which adds the comedy to this book.

The story of Max and Lucie working together to find a key in a fan to save Max’s Royal family is a unique story. The attraction between them is immediate but with Max’s secret about being a prince and the job they have actually hired Lucie to do, could their relationship survive.
Will Lucie carry on with this job and not realise her real purpose or will she figure out that Max and his family are just using her in their quest to find a key.

Adorable! This is your typical city girl story falling in love with your typical country boy. Stella is focused on her career. Her boss offers her a chance to prove herself by setting up an extension of their company in another city. Her and her two cousins grew up in a small city. As soon as she got the chance, she moved to the city. Her best friends/ cousins followed her so they could be together. But what happens when she falls for a guy who lives away from her cousins in a small town, similar to the one she escaped from? Read this book if you like romance, love, and finding yourself.

Stella is a straight up city girl. She really wants this promotion, so she takes her bosses offer to prove herself but must move to the country. Sounds simple – or so she thought. She cannot really stand being in the country, but the only shining light in this fiasco is Johnny – the mechanic who helped her when she first arrived. Johnny takes a liking to Stella right away. This was a good read. I enjoyed the city to country transition a lot.

Gone Country is the first book in the Gone In Love series by Katrina Marie. This was the first time that I had read any of this author’s work but I can now add her to a list of authors that I’d definitely read again as I really enjoyed this book.
Gone Country is the story of city girl Stella who moves to the country temporarily for her job and Johnny, the country boy who comes to her rescue twice within the first 24 hours of her being in the country.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Johnny and Stella’s story. Two people who seem to be such opposites at the start soon realise that they have much more in common than you think.
I really liked reading about both of these characters. They are very well written and very believable and realistic and I was able to feel a connection with both of them.
Of course the path to true love never runs smoothly and Johnny’s ex girlfriend wants him back and will do everything possible to break Johnny and Stella up.
This is a really well written story. It flows well and kept me engaged from the very beginning right up to the very end.

Gone Country (Cousins Gone #1)Gone Country by Katrina Marie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this heartwarming and lighthearted romantic comedy and I felt engaged with the main characters, Stella and Johnny. Stella is an independent and driven workaholic city girl who is willing to move to a small town temporarily to prove that she deserves a promotion. However, things do not go as planned when Stella ends up with her car in a ditch but luckily local mechanic Johnny comes to her rescue. Jonny offers to show her everything the town has to offer, including “other activities”, but with no strings attached as he’s not looking for a relationship. This is perfect for Stella as she’s not planning on staying in Asheville.
The more time the couple spend together they both start to wonder if their relationship could be more long term but Stella is still intent on her promotion and Johnny’s ex girlfriend is also a complication for the couple. I loved the characters and the chemistry between Stella and Johnny came across in the story from when they first met. I also liked the relationship between Stella and her cousins, Audrey and Tiffany and enjoyed their witty banter. The storyline flowed well and the plot had me happily turning the pages. An enjoyable and engaging read which I recommend and I look forward to reading Tiffany’s story next in the series.

I found this to be a cute, funny and oh-so-entertaining read. The girl goes country. Culture shock can be so very hard especially with two off-the-wall cousins. Stella has quite the adventure just trying to get that promotion at work. When she finally gets the offer of a lifetime, it starts off with a KAPOW! She must relocate to Asheville for a while….it does have one perk….a handsome fella who rescues her. They have some wild adventures with “wild” critters and other things. Together they also find their attraction and work through it. Will it be able to withstand when the distribution center is done? You’re going to have to read and find out. Such well-written characters, they grow on you. You feel like you are reading about what your friends are doing. It’s easy to follow along. You’ll find yourself chuckling at Stella adjusting to country life. Highly recommend.

Gone Country by Katrina Marie is book one of the Gone in Love series. This is the first book I’ve read by this author but I wasn’t disappointed!

In order for Stella to get the promotion she desperately wants and needs, she needs to prove she deserves it. In order to do that, she needs to move to a small town. She doesn’t have an easy go of it at first but that doesn’t last for long. Stella is strong willed. She’s determined to make it through her time in Asheville. Then she meets Johnny, who offers to fix her car for her, among other things. Can Stella keep her eye on the promotion and still spend spend time with Johnny even though her time is only temporary?

Stella is a bit of a workaholic and definitely thinks work trumps everything which works for her. Johnny definitely has charm and didn’t hesitate to use it on Stella. These two had sparks. This book was well written and overall I enjoyed the story!

This book was wonderful. The characters were relatable and were so entertaining to read about. I loved that Stella got thrown into a situation that she never expected to enjoy. She has a horrible supervisor that she is dying to get out from under with this promotion that could offer her everything that she has been dreaming of. She has two of the best cousins/friends in the world and they are pushing her to be her best self regardless of how outside her comfort zone it is. Those are the kinds of friends that everyone needs in their lives! Johnny has been living his small-town life and it is all that he knows. He wasn’t expecting Stella when she drove into town nor was he expecting to be completely enamored by her from the first meeting. Their relationship is a whirlwind and was supposed to be a quick fling. Throw in an old love, a super small town, and some revelations long in the making and this story had everything that makes a love story realistic and heartwarming. I will definitely be picking up another read by Katrina Marie and encourage you to do the same!

When Stella relocates temporarily due to a possible job promotion, sparks fly when she meets Johnny. When Johnny helps Stella with her vehicle trouble he also offers her no strings attached fun while in a small town temporarily. Will Stella go for it while still going for the promotion of her dreams? I thought this was a sweet, cute rom/com and devoured this book in a short few hours.
