This one surprised me, I have to say. Lovely, easy to read, but intelligent writing and captivating characters. The characters came to life beautifully for me… they were rendered so seamlessly, and I felt like I’d known them all of my life. I enjoyed every minute of this book. Highly recommend!

4-star

A Hole by Phoebe Alexander is the first book in the Alpha Bet Guys Series and is a must read by this author. I am always a huge fan of this authors writing and this book was no different, I loved the detail, the witty characters, the humour and of course the steamy moments.

This was a fast read, the ending seemed to come much too quickly as I had easily connected with the characters so I really look forward to reading more from this series ASAP. This is a book I would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for their next romance read!

Love at first haunt – well, isn’t that the truth?
The story follows Allison, a down to earth woman and an ex psychic. She’s easy to like and her best friend, Tina, is down right hilarious. As the story continues, we meet Logan, the most untouchable bachelor, with a haunting past and house.
This story is full of surprises and tons of laughs. I highly recommend this fun read to all supernatural lovers!

KJ Holiday was a new author to me but after seeing a few blurbs and teasers I knew it would be right up my alley for a lighthearted and funny romantic read. It did not disappoint and I found myself reading this quickly and sad when the story came to a conclusion. Holiday has a knack for writing some witty and laugh out loud scenes that will make any reader love these characters and the story they have to share. I couldn’t get enough of Alex and Penny and the sidekick friend Luke.

“First of all, f@*k tents.”

This line had me spitting out my diet pepsi, cause same lol. I love camping or the outdoors but not tents, tents are the devil and I have plenty of awful experiences with them to say I’m good never again. Alex really needs the experience though to help him with his latest writing endeavor and is dragged to the mountains to live it all. Penny throws in a plot twist when he discovers he loves her, but will Penny accept the advances and the idea of a romance with him? For that you will have to read to find out. I can’t wait to see what else is available from KJ Holiday in the near future!

This was the first book by this author that I have read. I really enjoyed his writing style. Her plotline was entertaining and well worth the read. Her ups and downs the characters were on was spot on. Her characters were fully developed and modest. It is entertaining when you take any character from a big city and see how they act in a country setting. The same goes true with a country girl going to a big city. When a city boy, who is writing a book, comes to a complete stop, his best friend takes him on a trek in the county mountain side. Luke is that friend. He suggests going on this trek and he brings his friend Penny. Penny and Luke have been friends since childhood. How will Alex handle being in the mountains? What does Luke have plans for everyone to do in the mountains? Will there be some romance happening? I highly suggest this book for a great read to escape from reality for a while.

Love at First Haunt: A Ghostly Paranormal Romance (Haunted Ever After Book 1)Love at First Haunt: A Ghostly Paranormal Romance by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Love at First Haunt is a great book, like all of Carrie Pulkinen’s. It is the first book in the Haunted Ever After series, and is very similar to the New Orleans Nocturnes series. It is a book about ghosts, medium and psychics, but it is not at all scary. The book is very cute, funny and ironic. Allison is a medium psychic, but is afraid of ghosts after a recent incident. While at a party with her bff, she sees a ghost, and runs out crying. This sparks the interest of the house owner, Logan. In a series of encounters, they are brought together and realize they have a lot in common. Their blossoming relationship is fun to read about, and the characters are great. Despite being psychic and all, they are very realistic and relatable. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series so I can see what is to come of Trent and Tina, Logan and Allison’s best friends.

A Hole (Alpha Bet Guys Book 1) by Phoebe Alexander

Book one in the series and I’m ready to start the second since I know it will be as good as the first.  I loved this book!  I laughed more times than I expected and I then needed to take a break from reading to refocus.

Ace was amazingly charming and seemed a bit bashful while trying to charm Ella.  His friends were entertaining and I’m looking forward to reading the stories about how each one of these boys falls.

I love how confident Ella’s was for being a curvy woman  I know there are a lot of curvy women out there with an amazing amount of confidence, but I’m not one of them.  I could only dream of having Ella’s confidence.

I have been fortunate enough to read several books by Ms. Alexander and she hasn’t disappointed me yet.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

A Hole by Phoebe Alexander is the first in the Alpha Bet Series. It’s a novella length rom com type. Ace & Ella’s story is different when it comes to romance. Ace is a comedian, Ella a bank teller. I gave this novella three stars because it was hard for me to get into it. Phoebe Alexander is a wonderful and talented writer, but for some reason this novella didn’t grab my attention the way her other novels have. A Hole is hilarious and funny but can be series when needs to be.

I really enjoyed this entertaining romantic comedy featuring a city boy and a country girl who fall in love in ten days during a camping trip. Best selling novelist Alexander Jones is struggling with writing his second book and so his best friend Luke convinces him to take a trekking and survival boot camp in the wilderness to cure him of his writers block. The only problem is he hates the countryside and camping. Both Luke and his childhood friend Penny Foster take Alex to the mountains where they camped as children. Alex is completely out of his element almost straightaway but with his friends help he manages ten days. However, a surprising outcome of the trip is that within that ten days Alex has fallen in love with Penny, but is unsure how she feels or what Luke will think when he finds out.

This lighthearted and fun romance had me laughing out loud. The characters are all very realistic and relatable and the chemistry between Alex and Penny really comes across in the narrative. I liked how the book is written solely from Alex’s point of view which gives us a different perspective from the usual female viewpoint in most romance novels. I particularly liked Alex’s witty and sarcastic inner voice and found Alex to be an unusual but very likeable male lead, and was really cheering him on hoping he would get his girl, Penny. The author made the setting along with the camping and survivalist elements really come alive through her descriptive narrative which made me feel immersed in the story, and as though I was camping with them. An engaging and heartwarming read which I read in one sitting as once I started reading I could not put the book down. A great read for some much needed escapism during the continuing lockdown here in the UK.

This is a cute romance story that has a touch of humor to it. This is a well written story about a city boy and a country girl. This story will show you how much things could change if just given 10 days. Alex has given himself 10 days to embrace the country. His friends including a girl named Penny are determined to help him with this. Will Alex and Penny find themselves embracing more than something out of their element? They made the story fun to read and entertaining. I laughed a couple of times out loud at them. They made the story for me. I highly recommend reading this book.

10 Days by KJ Holliday is a great book with strong, relatable characters. They completely made this book for me and are what had me turning the pages. Everything about them was so easy to imagine. I could vividly picture most of their conversations happening and it really made me feel like I was right there with them. The story itself I found to be quite fun. I expected it to feel a bit rushed given that it was mainly going to happen over 10 days but this was not the case at all. The author really took the time to build the story to make it a great read. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I am looking forward to reading more from them in the future.

10 Days by KJ Holliday. I loved this book. Its the first book I’ve read by this author but it won’t be my last! Its the story of Alexander Jones who is an author and wanting to write a book about outdoor survivalist. Alex is not familiar with the outdoors much at all so this is a whole new thing to him. His best friend Luke offers to take him camping like really camping not glamping! Alex decides it will be more fun with his long time best friend Penny. Alex finds out he is so not into most things camping especially fishing and is taking all the jabs from Luke about it. He also learns that Penny is pretty badass and can do just about anything. During the 10 days you get to see Luke and Alex get along like brothers and also see the feelings develop between Alex and Penny. All 3 in a tent is tight quarters especially if 2 of the parties have feelings for each other. This book is such a fun Romcom and you will be so glad you took the time to check it out!

This was a good book while some action happens, I also felt like their relationship was super fast and almost rushed.

A Hole (Alpha Bet Guys Book 1)A Hole by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Hole is book one in the Alpha Bet Guys series by the sensationally talented Phoebe Alexander. There is nothing better than humour and wit to titillate the literary taste buds. From start to finish this story had me totally bewitched. Ace was a desirable and funny character and Ella was just the perfect heroine. It was such a delight to read about an enviable and real sounding character. Not a barbie type that is totally unrealistic and doesn’t fit the story at all. Ella was perfect for Ace but meddling friends that mean well, but cannot help throwing in their two cents worth. A Hole was deeply addictive and empowering, all at the same time. I love nothing more than a feisty leading lady showing the leading man that she is strong, independent, but arousing as all get out. An irresistible combination that is difficult to drag oneself away from. A short, sexy and all out entertainer. A Hole ticked all the boxes for me. Great to read this amazing author’s work, once more. 5 stars.

I would say it is a must read. Third Time’s a Ghost had lots of fun and witty banter. Pulkinen knows how to pull in her readers with lovable characters and a story that is intriguing. What a funny story. This is a full length novel filled with laughter and romance

Ella works in a bank as a teller. This really gorgeous man has come to her window many times. She tries to brush him off, but secretly she fights back her smile and remains professional. Ace is a comedian and has fallen hard for the bank teller. They are about to interact, but that is as much as I am going to say. No Spoilers here. Read the book and laugh out loud just like I did.

Phoebe Alexander you have done it again. Your stories never disappoint. This one had me laughing on the first page and just kept coming. I love her characters and their pranks. OK I loved the romance as well. The writing is smooth and really draws you in. If you like comedy and romance you will love this story. Well done Phoebe Alexander! Well Done!

I give Third Time’s a Ghost: A Ghostly Paranormal Romance (Haunted Ever After Book 3) by Carrie Pulkinen, 5 stars.

The third book in this wonderful series focuses on Gage and Erica. If you have been reading the series, you will recognize Gage. Erica is introduced to us in this book. Both are wonderful characters and it is interesting to see their interactions with each other since they were good friends in childhood, but drifted apart. They have their own issues they carry too, which impedes upon any relationship they may want to explore.

As the series implies, there are ghosts and the supernatural at work in this book too. This adds suspense to this paranormal romance and rounds outs the book very nicely. I quite enjoyed this side of the story and could not guess what exactly would happen next. I love to be surprised by my books.

If you are a fan paranormal romance with fun characters and a great story, this book and series are for you.

by Carrie Pulkinen was a good 4 star read. I was excited to finally get Gage’s story.

Erica is a psychic but has hidden it from everyone. When she inherits a theatre she quickly discovers that she has ghosts and she needs help.

Gage is a paranormal investigator who has had a crush on Erica for years. When Erica calls him for help she sees how handsome Gage has become and the chemistry between them kicks in full force.

Will Gage be able to help Erica get control of the spirits?

Overall this was a fun read that pulls you in. The characters were great, I really enjoyed watching their relationship develop. We also get some very steamy moments. The author does a good job of pulling you in with her writing. If you’re looking for a fun second chance romance this would be a good read for you. Third Time’s A Ghost: A Ghostly Paranormal Romance is the third book in the Haunted Ever After series by Carrie Pulkinen. As expected, this is another fun paranormal romance from Ms. Pulkinen- packed plenty of the paranormal, ghosts, danger, romance, chemistry, steamy encounters, mystery, intrigue, and more.
I was intrigued by Gabe from the moment we met him back in book one- being a friend of Allison’s, and fellow ‘ghostbuster’. So, finding that he get’s his own story here was a bit of a bonus for me- and as I soon discovered, there is more to him than just his paranormal investigator and IT specialist tag. Add Erica and the whole ‘haunted theatre’ developments- and things get very intriguing in a heck of a hurry.
This story is every bit as good as the other two books, making it hard for me to choose a favourite from the three. It could be read as a standalone, as each book in the series focuses on a different couple, but having said that, I really do recommend reading the first two books before beginning on this one, as there are recurring characters to meet- as well as two other fantastic stories that you would miss out on otherwise.
Highly recommended for all paranormal romance lovers!

Thank you, Carrie Pulkinen!

This is the third book in the Haunted Ever After Series. Like with any book in a series, starting with the first book is best. Although this book can be read as a standalone. This is a fun, paranormal, geeky, mystery, thriller, romance story and is written fantastically. I was drawn into yet another amazing story by this author. She makes a go at the theater and things keep going wrong. She runs into her childhood best-friend Gage whom she seeks help from to help with the glitching lights at the theater. Gage Dawson is a brilliant IT worker by day and a paranormal investigator by night, whom sucks at the dating. When Erica asks for his help he is joyed to help her. He wants his relationship with Erica to move to the next level. But will the spirits in her newly owned theater interfere? I truly enjoyed this book and am sad that it is the last in the series. Gage Dawson is an IT genius and repairman by day, but by night he is a paranormal investigator, but despite all that, he really has no luck with dating, he seems to be friend zoned every time at his best and at his worst, he is asked only to repair something in the lucky girls house, but when his sisters find this out at their monthly brunch, they are full of advice for him. Erica Miller is a woman with a painful history, but is now a graphic designer by day and a theater owner by night, she has inherited the theater she used to perform in when her old mentor leaves it to her in her will, but when she is running through the production she has planned with her students and the lights start flickering and she feels cold draughts, she starts to think that it isn’t just electrical gremlins who reside there.

When Gage is called to a floor he doesn’t normally provide IT solutions for at work, the last person he expects to see is that it his childhood friend who left town 10 years before who is the one in need of help, but when his friend who also works on that floor points out that it is Erica Miller who is the one who put in the call, he cannot quite believe it is her and when he finds out that she has been back in town for six months, he doesn’t know quite what to think even though he still feels the same pull as before. However, when Erica sees that Gage is the one who has come to repair her computer, she cannot believe her eyes when she sees how much he has changed since she left and she is confused by the feelings which start to rear their heads when she sees him, but he is all professional and saves her a lot of trouble when he repairs her computer, but talking to one of her coworkers afterwards about her reactions, she is still confused about it all and when she gets home and a ghost shows up at her home, she tries to block them out as well as explain that she can’t help them as much as she would like to.

The next day Gage can’t concentrate on work and is just counting down until he can go up and check on Erica and whether her computer is still working alright, but he knows it is just an excuse to see her, so when he does go up, he invites her to lunch, but she turns him down saying that she needed to work over lunch and help a colleague out, but his friend invites him to after work drinks which Erica agrees to, but Gage noe being a fan of busy places declines, much to her disappointment, but he does give her his number before he leaves and she texts him back almost immediately with hers. Later on Erica is waiting for Gage at the bar, but worries that he isn’t going to turn up, but then her drunk coworker comes up and comes onto her, but the way he approaches it makes Erica feel angry rather than happy as he says derogatory things about her a the same time, Gage just happens to choose this moment to enter the bar and hearing this punches him in the face, Ericca is shocked but pulls him out of the bar to talk to him and have that catch up after all. Gage goes outside with her and listens to all that has happened to her over the last few years and as it progresses all of those feelings are brought back to the service, but he is shocked and elated at the same time when Erica leans in to kiss him just before they both leave for the evening.

As the time passes and Erica spends more time with Gage, she realises that she has feelings for him too, but when she starts having to spend more time at the theater, more strange things start to happen, she opens up to Gage about it and this is when she finds out that he understands and offers to help, she declines at first, but as she starts to experience blackouts and time loss, she asks for his help, but what they discover has nothing to do with the known spirits who live there, but when things start to get dangerous and the blackouts increase, she realises that she has to open up fully to Gage in more ways than one, but when the secrets of her past are revealed, will Gage be as open to them as she hopes, or will the ghosts come between them and ruin their fledgling romance? This romance has comedy and the paranormal in spades, but it also has you rooting for Erica and Gage as their story progresses and it leaves you guessing what will happen right up until the end.

Third Time's a Ghost: A Ghostly Paranormal Romance (Haunted Ever After, #3)Third Time’s a Ghost: A Ghostly Paranormal Romance by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Once again Pulkinen did not disappoint, this story, much like the second instalment, had lots of fun and witty banter and again the romantic relationship felt natural and not forced. I love the whole friends-to-lovers thing, I always think that the relationships feel as though they have more depth and nothing between them feels rushed.
In this story, Gage is a paranormal investigator who’s a dab hand with all things electronic but cannot for the life of him make a relationship work. As great as his track record is investigating all things ghostly, his dating track record is dead on arrival, and haunting him frequently is the love that he never admitted to when he was in high school and hopelessly in love with the girl next door. Erica, the afore-mentioned girl next door, happens to be a psychic medium (convenient huh) and when one particular ghost starts causing her more hassle than she can handle alone, she decides to call her old nerdy friend gage to help with the situation. Thing is, nerdy friend got hot and she really wasn’t expecting that (some psychic, am I right).
As I’ve said before this has all of the Pulkinen awesomeness; it’s funny, great supernatural elements, a bit saucy and steamy as well as having awesome characters, that while being knee-deep in the paranormal, still feel achingly real. Pulkinen is fast becoming one of my favourite authors to read, especially if I’m fancying something fun and light to put a smile on my face, on that, Pulkinen always delivers.
