Book Review: No Way Out, Mafia Elite book one Author: Amy McKinley FIVE STARS No Way Out by Amy McKinley is a Mafia Romance, but it is full of amazing strong powerful “Mafia Princesses” Liliana is the only daughter of Mafia boss Benito Brambilla. Benito is a controlling hateful man who never liked Lilana. Max/Matteo has been hired by Brambilla as a hitman. This book is full of awesome twists and turns. The strength that Liliana shows is just inspiring. Ms. McKinley is a great author and I can’t wait for book two in this series. KLH

This is the 2nd book in the DAG series. It is a story filled with danger and suspense but also a romance element which works well and keeps the reader hooked. I love the leading lady Amy. She has had a tough past which has made her this hard hitting, straight talking fiesty woman that she is today.
Amy is sent undercover to help a charity uncover who is using them to illegal substances around the world. The owner of the charity is Hugh Bainbridge IV. Hugh is a lawyer who helps people who have fallen between the cracks of the law system. He is a hardworking man who is fighting for the people unable to fight for themselves. Amy and Hugh seem like a perfect match and their connection is special however, when Amy realises the person beind the crime is the same people who destroyed her sisters life she is sent on getting revenge. Now Amy has a decision to make, finally get her revenge for her lost sister, or do her job and progress her relationship with Hugh. Which will she choose?

I was invested in the character development between Amy and her team from the first introduction. I was intrigued and fascinated to hear more about the ops and the romance. I felt a sense of kinship with Amy while having no sense of relatability to her character, which only made each page more intense. As the end neared, I was rooting for my version of a happy ending but the storyline was well written and nothing was given away. I cannot wait for additional books and further DAG character development.

What a way to kick of a new series! I love this author there’s no denying it so I was really excited when I saw this new release from her and wow what an amazing read! I was hooked from beginning to end. I love mafia romance and this was the perfect example of that genre! Action, tension, angst, romance – this book had it all and more! I LOVED Max – oh my gosh he was totally swoon worthy! Liliana really surprised me actually, I didn’t expect her to be so strong but she was amazing! She held her own when she needed to. I absolutely loved both of them together and their story was so exciting to read! I can’t wait for more from this author!

Romance, crime and revenge Book 2 of the DAG series and it just gets better and better. Loved Amy and Hugh’s stories and their relationship. Amy is a strong FMC, who knows what she wants. Straight up I connected with her. Hugh is adorable and has a strength all of his own. The DAG team are brilliant and I can’t wait to find out more about each of them. Some unfinished business leaves the door wide open for book 3. An excellently written book that will keep you engaged from start to finish.

Wow! Just Wow! This story is amazing! The suspense in here is incredible! I lived how it kept me guessing! I was really drawn into the life of these characters! I loved some, disliked others and was extremely suspicious of a few. This has a large cast and I just couldn’t get enough of them. Then there is that attraction between Max and Liliana…Man I could feel that coming off the pages!
One of the BEST books I have read by this author! She wields her pen/computer perfectly drawing the reader into the plight of Liliana. Then adds Max and she lets us know a bit about him then makes us adore him for what he is attempting. I am so happy I read this and eagerly look forward to the next!

Linda Burson, a native of Pennsylvania, but long time Connecticut resident, has been writing ever since she was given a writing assignment in school, at the age of eight. Later, as a teenager, she started out writing memoirs and attempted several nonfiction pieces.
After attending college studying English, Psychology, and Business Law, Linda worked in positions where she wrote and edited papers for others. She spent time pursuing other interests and traveling. Much of Linda’s free time was spent reading mysteries, romance, and women’s contemporary fiction novels.
After several attempts at writing nonfiction, but having life get in the way, she put her passion on hold again. She gave up writing to focus on raising her daughters, being a wife, running her own businesses and taking care of her dog, a Lhasa Apso named Nathan.
After a serious bout of breast cancer, Linda eventually closed her business after fifteen years. She decided it was time to attempt writing again. This time, however, with nothing to distract her, she decided on tackling fiction, a contemporary, commercial romance with a dark edge.
On January 1, 2013, she sat down with her laptop and started writing the first chapter. After a few more chapters, she realized the story wasn’t near complete. Before she was aware of it, her idea of a single book turned into a trilogy, which turned into a much longer series called the MARCY SERIES. There are a total of thirteen books in the series.
When asked about inspiration, Linda has this to say: “Nobody really inspired me to write, but I do remember my mother and father always saying ‘anything you put your mind to you can accomplish. Don’t ever let anyone tell you, you can’t do something.’ Having the support and encouragement of my family is also important.”
Linda has also published a standalone murder mystery novel entitled, Murder Among Friends, a romantic suspense novel called, The Colors of my Life, and a short story as a part of a five-story anthology with other authors called Where There’s Murder, There’s Mystery. Her story is entitled, Lies Aren’t Forever. Another Romantic suspense called The Kidnapping is due out in August 2021.

This book was so FANTASTIC! I never hesitate to one click a book from Author Amy McKinley and get totally pulled in. This book had me hooked right from the beginning. I loved how the author has a breakdown on the different mafia families to start. Matt, better know as Max Caruso, is trying to get back what is owed to him. He will stop at nothing to achieve that. Liliana is the daughter of a Benito Brambilla, another high power mafia boss. Max disguises himself to work for Benito, and the story unfolds to rescuing Liliana from her father. There is a story behind this, and I do not want to include any spoilers. When the plans start unfolding with Max rescuing Liliana and him telling her the truth about her family, I was at the edge of my seat!! The planning down to the every minute detail!! This book is just totally worth the read. If I could give more then 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I would!!

I am once again sucked into a wonderful suspenseful story about love and second chances. The leads characters in this book can be touched on a personal level and makes this book a must read! Suspense, love, action and history make a good one two punch combo that makes this a page turner. Can’t wait to read more West books in the future!

This was my first time reading a mafia romance and I must say I really enjoyed it. I could tell from the first chapter that I was going to love it. I was entranced with the story, the characters and the world the author created. I love Max and Liliana. Both characters are strong and intelligent. They both have to make hard choices in a treacherous world.
I definitely will be reading more by Amy McKinley. The sexual tension between Max and Liliana was hot and spicy! Watching their relationship grow was beautiful! I was so happy this story is told from both perspectives, Max and Liliana. I honestly didn’t want this book to end. I cannot wait to read the other books in this series.

This book has an interesting premise, incorporating some danger and intrigue with romance. Marshall Matt Thornton is a tall handsome drink of water that might just be what parched Liz Hartman needs after an acrimonious divorce from her criminal ex-husband. Liz’ character is drawn well, we get to see what’s going on in her mind as she tries to put some distance between herself (and her grown children) and the terrible reputation the man made of their last name. The writing flowed well, but I found myself a bit bored with the mundanities of the story. I wanted some deeper insights, and more than a purely plot-driven story. However, it is an easy-to-read book that crime/suspense fans may enjoy.

Unsettled Scores by Kel O’Conner is the second book in the DAG Team series. This book can be read as a stand-alone although the stories do seem to overlap so reading the previous book first could be beneficial. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I found it to be a pretty fast paced book. The writing was exciting and the author knew just when to throw in some twists and turns. The characters were interesting and engaging. They are the kind of ones that you get behind right from the start. This was a great book that I found thoroughly enjoyable. I will be going back to read book one.

This the 2nd book in the DAG Team series. This is a Romantic Suspense novel and is 215 pages in length. This story follows Amy and Hugh. This story will leave you on the edge of your seat as Amy fights to seek revenge for her sister’s death that ultimately drove a wedge between her and her family. The last 3 years after her sister’s death left her numb, but luckily her job allows her to work out some of her feelings. Hugh needs to find out how/why drugs are being smuggled into the Bainbridge family’s charity. For Amy, this is two birds, one stone. Get information that Hugh needs and take out the drug dealer who killed her sister. Except for the sparks that fly between her and Hugh. These two are probably my most favorite couple.

There was amazing chemistry between them, and the relationships felt organic. It’s hard to get the right amount of tough without being completely unlikable, but Kel did a wonderful job of making Amy a very likable—and relatable—character. Best of all, this book was so hot yet sweet! This is definitely going on my “read again” list.

This book really gave me everything! It gave me not just a gripping story line that basically kept me on the edge of my seat, but as well as that, it gave me a strong female lead, whom I admired very much for everything she stood for, and during book even though she was very strong willed, in the end she’s just like the rest of us, she’s only human and that comes with the whole package of contents with being human.
Amy in this novel was a strong character as I said. She had gone through some rough times in her life. She not only lost her own sister, and driven mad with revenge basically, she was separated from her family. It was a lot of heavy weighing on her heart, there was a hold that burned thru her heart, that seemed it would never be fixed, till the person who killed her dear sister was held accountable. Would she ever get the chance to get the justice she wanted and needed so badly in her life?
Thing in truth was that yes she does get that chance, Taking it may perhaps bring on more than she thought at first glance? What if a chance for true love was given to her, provided she stopped trying so hard to get the revenge she thought she so desperately needed to do. Could love fix her heart? The book brought on a lot of emotions for Amy and I literally felt them all, her pain, her happiness, her desire for revenge, the lust for love and passion she really wanted secretly, and basically to feel normal again. the book bought a lot of hard moments, but a thrill ride of action and emotions, honestly I could not put this one down, as when it seemed to be done with suspense, it started up again!
The author gave us all a really fun thrill ride, that was very fun and fast paced. I felt felt that character connection to Amy and how well the author had written her. It was a fun ride to read through this book, and I can not wait to read more by this author. Saying its really good, is an understatement, as its more than that! Pick it up yourself, and see what I am talking about! Surely, you will not be disappointed!

ALL THE FREAKING STARS!!!! OMG!!! Amy McKinley has outdone herself, AGAIN!!!!
No Way Out is the incredible first instalment in the Mafia Elite series by the supremely talented Amy McKinley. I know I keep saying this with every new release of hers, but this is definitely a new favourite for me. It is a fantastic mafia romance/romantic suspense, with plenty of action, violence, danger, drama, mafia politics, intrigue, tension, chemistry, sizzle, secrets, revenge, and emotion. I fell for Max and Liliana right from the beginning- they were such great characters- quite complex, fully developed individuals with depth and their own unique quirks and flaws. I really don’t want to give too much away and spoil the story for you… But will leave you with this little tidbit. Max has an agenda that has taken a lot of time and planning to finetune before he can now, finally, let it all unfold. He has been tasked with protecting his mentor’s granddaughter, on top of his own plans to exact a little revenge and right past wrongs. He never expected that he would be so drawn to the young woman he was sent to protect. Having more in common with her than he first thought. But she is no defenceless flower, as he soon discovers- she’s one kick-butt mafia princess. But with secrets, agendas, politics, and sinister intentions- it’s not long before they are neck deep in a dangerous situation. It definitely made for an intense, suspenseful, edge of my seat read!!! Another gem to add to Ms. McKinley’s crown! She had me at Mafia romance- the rest was all a wonderful bonus!!!! You definitely won’t want to miss this exciting story… Happy Reading!

Unsettled Scores is the second book in the DAG Team series by Kel O’Connor. This is my first book by Ms. O’Connor, and I reallly wish I had realised that this was the second book in the series before I dove in. Even though this could be read as a standalone, I feel I would have benefitted by reading Book One before embarking on this story. There appears to be a crossover of timelines and events between this book and the first- so I will definitely be going back to read ‘Broken Bits’ before reading any further instalments in the series. This is an exciting romantic suspense with plenty of action, adventure, drama, danger, and steam. The death of Amy’s sister 3 years previously has impacted her life on so many levels and driven a wedge between her and the rest of her family. Her thoughts are full of anger and revenge- which leaves little room for anything else. She focuses on her work as a way of dealing with her pain- but she isn’t really living. Her latest assignment brings things to a head… Hugh Bainbridge IV is determined to uncover how drugs are being smuggled into his mother’s charity, which brings Amy into his world. She more than intrigues him and soon they are both thrust into a highly volatile situation. Sparks fly, chemistry sizzles, secrets are revealed, while danger abounds. Can’t wait for more of DAG Team!!!

Unsettled Scores: Book 2 of the DAG Team Series by Kel O’Conner another fantastic romantic thriller and addition to this series. I don’t read blurbs or take much notice of covers as I like to go in blind with no expectations. I quickly realised that this was book 2 so I stopped and grabbed book one and I suggest you do the same before starting this book. I loved the simple cover on this one and was glad that I knew nothing of this story as it was thoroughly engrossing. It is also engaging, action packed, and romantic. This is only Kel’s second book, but it has certainly put her on my TBR list as a go to author. Her narrative, world building, plotting and character building is spot on and makes you want to go back for more.

No Way Out: An Arranged Marriage Mafia Romance is the first book in the Mafia Elite series by Amy McKinley.
Oh my goodness, I loved this book. This is not my first book by Amy McKinley, so I already had high expectations when I started reading, and this book did not disappoint. Liliana is nothing more than a pawn in her father’s wicked games. He sees her as a bargaining chip, and she is trapped in this dangerous and suffocating world until he sets her free. I love the strength and fierceness of Liliana, she is feisty and smart in the face of uncertainty and betrayal. Max is assigned to be Liliana’s bodyguard, but this is no accident as he has a dark history and past that he is determined to save Liliana from. I love the style of writing in this book, it feels as though the author has really found her words with this genre, I couldn’t stop reading. I can’t wait for book two!

All I can say is OMG!! Marsha R. West had me hooked from the start. I loved how Liz, although she had a terrible first try at marriage she gets a second chance at love with her high school sweetheart Matt. Liz’s life was ripped apart after her marriage of 25 years fell apart. With all the horrible mishaps that involve Liz and her daughter Lauran, they still seem to still enjoy their time in Red River. Going back to Red River allows both women to forget about the past two years of terrible misfortune. This book will have you hooked from the start. * * * * *

This is my first book by Author Marsha R West and I really enjoyed the suspenseful romance story. This story is about Liz, who ends up divorcing her husband gets arrested for money laundering. The FBI also think that Liz had knowledge of her husbands illegal activities. Eventually, Liz and her daughter pack up and decide to go to her family’s cabin in New Mexico. When danger follows her to New Mexico, she go to the local police and only to find out that the town marshal is her old flame from high school. I love a second chance love that also has suspense wrapped into a fantastic book. Thank you Author Marsha R West!

Tainted I felt was a must read after reading the description and I fell in love immediately. The story is quick to draw you in with Sarah getting woken up by the FBI looking for documents her ex-husband stashed inside her house. We quickly learn who the bad guy in the story is but even knowing the information she manages to keep you hooked, on the edge of your seat waiting to find out what happens next. Her descriptive characters allow the reader to picture them in their mind and the scenic description in Red River makes you feel like you are walking the town with the main character. The author makes you pull for Matt and Sarah to rekindle the romance they had in high school. And for the sexy marshal to pin down who is behind the threat on her life. The author pulls you in to the drama knowing Matt is trying hard to protect Sarah especially after losing his wife to a deadly disease. This book will have you on the edge of your seat and may provoke sleepless nights as you fight to read to the very end. I cannot recommend this book enough and am so very glad this author came across my radar as I was searching for a new book to get lost in.

Elizabeth Hartman thought she had a near-perfect life: loving, successful husband, 2 children, a nice home, and the chance to volunteer to help those less fortunate than herself. But that all falls apart when her husband is arrested and convicted of money laundering. Hoping to escape the past, she and her daughter Liz travel from Fort Worth to Red River, New Mexico to spend their summer at their family cabin. But they just can’t seem to escape their past, which includes Liz’s high school boyfriend, Matt, who just happens to be the sheriff of Red River. Trying to stay away from the danger that seems to be following them, Liz also finds herself trying to avoid rekindling the flame with Matt.
Marsha West knows how to write a fantastic novel! Liz and Lauren, her daughter, are strong lead women characters, which is always a plus in any story. Matt is likeable, and Gerry, the ex-husband’s evil just seeps right off the pages of the story. Marsha draws the reader in and the mystery involved was a fun one! Definitely a 5 star read! Highly recommend!

Okay so I was late to the game of watching the Breaking Bad tv show and just binged watched that this summer with the gf and this book gave me crazy Breaking Bad vibes! Which is a good thing! I loved it. I loved all the action, drama, suspense, and the underlying romance kept me on my toes and really invested in the characters completely. This is my first time reading Marsha R. West as well so I am super excited to have found a new author to dive into a catalog with hopefully!
This book takes you to the beautiful mountains of New Mexico with Liz, good name eh lol, as she tries to rebuild her life after her husband is found guilty of money laundering. It isn’t going to be an easy break away though as the danger follows her. Matt the love interest is only the icing on the cake in the story I tell you that much! This is one you don’t want to miss if you love suspenseful crime novels with romance!
