I really liked this book! Romance mixed in with suspense is a favorite of mine! This story follows a group of cops while they hunt for a killer. I really like how immersed you get into this story because you get to experience what is happening around each person, even the killer. I love when you are able to get a full view of the story like this! There is a sequel so of course I am left wondering what happens next! I am ready to dive into the second book and figure it out, it will be here in August! Can’t wait!

Ritual Obsession (Blood Obsession Book 1) by R.L. Dunn
4 stars

Ritual Obsession is the first book in this series. It is a mixture of romantic suspense and thriller. It is an intense story that follows Bobbi, a wealthy debutant turned cop, and her New York City homicide unit. There are several sub plots which pull together to form this well written story. Bobbi has a lot to deal with including the growing romance between her and her co worker Max, her ex lover who can’t take no for an answer and most dangerously a serial killer’s obsession with her. The book is full of twists that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I’m definitely looking forward to reading the rest of this series.

OMG!! This book had me hook, and line, and totally obsessed with finishing it!! Roberta “Bobbi” Wallace was a debutant from a very wealthy upbringing. When her husband dies Bobbie is dared into making something of her life, other than a social light. When Bobbie announced she was joining NYPD no one close to her took her seriously, not even her parents. After a few years on the job, Bobbie is transferred to the 10th precinct and paired with the hardest detective there. The first case that Bobbie is assigned is a serial killer case. High-end escorts are ending up in bathtubs dead with no trace of evidence. The issue is they all have the same look to them. The even bigger issue is the escorts all look very similar to Bobbie.
While navigating the new position of detective, still getting over the death of her husband, the serial killer case, Bobbie’s childhood boyfriend thinks that he is entitled to her. While Bobbie is not looking to make her life more complicated or put her job on the line, she ends up getting close to Max, another detective in her unit.
While there are a lot of different things going on in this book, everything ties together. The author will have you sitting on the edge of your seat, there are some heavy emotional twists that could be a trigger. I can not wait to read the next book in the series to see what happens to the serial killer, Bobbie and if Max can keep his promise to Bobbies parents!

Something About Aimee (Girls from the Street Book 1) by S.E. Smith – Review by Tracy Greenhalgh

Something About Aimee (Girls from the Street Book 1)Something About Aimee by S.E. Smith
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wow, honestly I am reeling from reading this book. Managed to read it in a day, literally could not put it down for too long.
Aimee aka Wheels, found abandoned as a new born on Dai de los Muertos, taken on and raised by her finder Yolanda, Wheels an honestly open and free spirited look on life; and it is no surprise that she lives life to the full. Living in an empty building looking after a family of cats, she has such a wide and diverse group of friends. From gang leaders and their grandparents, to shop keepers and Jazz singers the group of people that surround her is as colourful as it is diverse. Not held back by the constraints of a normal life she works as a parcel courier using her skateboard to get around. Aimee is a true heroine, showing us how strong a female can be.
Sheikh Qadir, crown prince and business man cannot be further from the life Aimee lives. He is transfixed by the small in stature but larger than life girl that attempts to and does save his life when he is targeted by terrorists. The one his Chosen, his feisty saviour. Their relationship is destined to be left incomplete when Aimee is taken into witness protection as her life is threatened after she sees a dirty cop kill his partner whilst trying to get hold of photos of mercenaries and their crimes in Qadirs home country.
After years later due to witness protection, when Qadir finds Aimee is still alive, I found myself cheering for the couple as they try to find their way back together.
The story is fast paced and hooks you straightaway, the characters are constantly growing and evolving, showing human strength and emotion. The world that is built by the author is bright and intriguing. Definitely a book worth reading, I hope the rest of the series is as engaging.

Ritual Obsession (Blood Obsession Book 1)Ritual Obsession by R.L. Dunn

Holy Moly! This Book was epic! I could not let this one be put down, for the plot as well as the characters that the book contained! The writing was genius and full of cleverness! The book was indeed a thrill ride, and left me wanting more as I turned the pages. Excellent plot and development! Sensational!

I love a good crime book, but this one really blew me away. The romance added nicely to the story as well, and I felt this book did a good job of the in depth look of what goes on on the side of the police when dealing with serial killers or any of the sort. Loved Max and Bobbi. Both different, but each had a different affect on me with their personalities. In all honesty, loved them both for which they were! The character development was strong, and the serial for what he was, was unlike any other person I have read in other books. He was well developed and was a critical character that added to the story and made the plot what it was. The book was full of twists and turns, and this is a book that left me with a spine tinging sensation. Amazing read and gifted author for sure to create this book! Truly loved it!

This book is by far a must read. If you love crime and a well built up character development and shocks and twists as you read, then for sure this book is for you! Highly recommend this book and author!

Ritual Obsession (Blood Obsession Book 1)Ritual Obsession by R.L. Dunn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this gripping crime story. This story is a chilling, twisted read. The author does an amazing job with the characters and the storyline. It really gives an insight into what life is like in the police force. Even those this is a crime story about a serial killer there is also a romance blossoming between Bobbi and Max. They are work colleagues and even though Bobbi doesn’t want to mix business with pleasure the connection between them is undeniable.

Bobbi has joined a new team of detectives but she’s not going to be welcome with open arms. Her new partner doesn’t want her so she makes her life hell from the beginning making Bobbi feel unwanted. There is a member of her team that makes her feel welcome though and that’s Max.
The connection between Bobbi and Max is undeniable.
When there is a serial killer called The Bathtub Murder on the loose. Bobbi and Max’s department are on the hunt.
When it turns out that Bobbi fits the type of victim the killer likes, she wants to work undercover to help capture this killer. Max doesn’t like this idea and doesn’t want Bobbi in harms way.
With everything in place for Bobbi to go undercover will Max be able to keep her self from The Bathtub Murderer and stop him from attacking again, or will the murderer attack again and take the woman that Max is giving his heart too? Will Bobbi’s partner Rose ever be able to accept her and see her as an equal partner instead of a spoilt rich kid.

Ritual Obsession (Blood Obsession Book 1)Ritual Obsession by R.L. Dunn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Powerful! Intense! Suspenseful! This book will have you on the edge of your seat. This author has written one of the most extraordinary books I’ve read this year. Rose, Brian, Max, Bobbie, McCauley, Marco, Bobbi’s parents, Andrew and a cast of supporting characters make for a some very good drama that you’ll never find on those TV shows. (bum, bum, bum…). I found myself holding my breath as the story built to find the ritual serial killer. The plot is built around Bobbie joining the force and having to live down her Debutante rep; Rose being know as a “witch”; etc. We get to see romances build; families get used to new careers and new romances; old dreams will die. Plot twists will abound and I love the fact that they don’t make a mess out of the plot; they flow just like they are naturally built there. I love all the subplots. This books grabs you and won’t let go. You will want more (I do….). The characters are well-developed and you feel like part of the story. Protagonists abound and those antagonists are going to get what’s coming. I loved this book and the author is now on my favorites list. I highly recommend this. There is steaminess and some triggers in this.

Ritual Obsession (Blood Obsession Book 1)Ritual Obsession by R.L. Dunn
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Where do I start with this book? First of all, I love a great romantic suspense/thriller, and having read (and loved) most of Ms. Dunn’s previous works, I really was incredibly excited to read this book- especially after I got to lay eyes on the cover and read the blurb. I really thought that this would be Ms. Dunn’s best book yet. So, to say I had high expectations is a bit of an understatement.
Ritual Obsession is the first book in the Blood Obsession series by R.L Dunn. It is an action-packed romantic suspense- with mystery, murder, crime & investigation, police procedure, danger, intrigue, violence, murder, potential triggers (abuse, sexual assault, violence, emotional harassment, intimidation, manipulation) sinister plots, dramatic developments, chemistry, spice, ANGST….. and much more.
As I was reading this, I felt like I was reading an earlier piece writing project of Ms. Dunns as I didn’t think it ‘felt’ as well-woven or polished as the other books of hers that I have read. I really struggled in my reading of this story- and is the first time that I haven’t been completely absorbed by one of her stories. I started and stopped so many times, and was easily distracted while reading. I had to ‘work’ to stay focused and immersed in the storyline. I wanted to give up so many times, but kept going, hoping that it would finally ‘click’ for me. But it didn’t. And I was left disappointed, because there was real potential here for a stellar read.
The synopsis held the promise of everything I could hope to have in a book- but I hate to say that unfortunately this one had tooooooo much going on in it which only served to distract from the overall storyline. I will try and explain this.. I felt like there was a LOT of added information, almost like the story was being ‘padded out’. An ‘everything but the kitchen sink’ scenario. The plot went off on various tangents, quite often. There was a LOT of time/storyline spent describing dinner dates, adding/dumping information, manufacturing drama, and describing other characters ‘lives’- so much so- most of it wasn’t really pertinent to the story and didn’t help to propel the story forward in any way. I felt really frustrated by this and it really detracted from the story and my overall enjoyment of it.
There was so much ‘thrown’ at this story that the end result felt overly complicated by unnecessary ‘dramatics’ and all the info dumps. As an example, the story shows our ‘main character’ Bobbie and her family/social dynamics, her new placement as detective in a new precinct, her work partners prickly reception that backflips into friendship, her other work colleague/dynamics, station politics/procedures, Bobbie’s chemistry and subsequent romance with Max (a colleague), her obsessed/possessive ex, her friendship with her housemate and their dynamics, the murders, the investigation/trying to track down the killer, her colleague Rose’s relationship/s love triangle of sorts with Andrew and Marco, the voodoo aspect, the killers perspective, lots of backstory and flashbacks, and so much dialogue, details, and other descriptions. I’m not sure what relevance was to be had to the overall story by going into Rose’s relationship/love life in such detail- with her swearing that one was the love of her life- then doing a complete 180 with the whole situation? I didn’t think any of that was relevant to the story??? It just seemed to be ‘added/manufactured drama’? I think most of that thread could have been left out and it would have made the story better, as it really just took the focus off the obsession/serial killer/investigation, which was supposed to be the ‘main’ part of the story.
Then we get the story from multiple POVs, which I normally love as it gives a broader perspective to the storyline- but in this instance, we get so many that I think it detracted from, as well as bogged down, the main story. The dialogue also felt off at times, somewhat stilted or ‘manufactured’. And I felt that the intimate/sex scenes were also not up to Ms. Dunn’s usual level. I could go on, but I hope you get my point. I really wanted to love this book so much, and I feel bad that I can’t give it a higher rating.
I am intrigued by what might happen in the next instalment, so I will be diving into that when it lands, and will keep you posted on my thoughts there. Hopefully my issues here will be sorted out or make more sense in the next book.
Happy Reading!

Thank You, R.L Dunn!

This is the second book in the series, of many to come I hope. You don’t really need to read the first book to read this one, but it would be an added bonus if you did. This was a great, friends to lovers book, that has the extra bonus of the BDSM story line as well. A define page turner for me.

Wheels, born on the streets and learned how to take care of herself and those she cares the most about. Qadir, born to rule, everything given to him, yet knows how to work hard, and works to get what he wants. What happens when Wheels saves his life, and stays a mystery to him.

This book was so good. I literally finished it within 24 hours of picking it up for the first time. The mystery behind Aimee, made me keep turning every single page. Then how much love she showed to everyone in her area. Need a new dress? She found a friend and they helped pull a drop dead gorgeous outfit together.

Reading the love story between Qadir and Aimee is so heartfelt. I loved every single detail and the eloquent style of writing S.E. Smith put into this book.

The ending seemed a bit abrupt for me. Without describing a spoiler, big news happened and then one chapter later the book was over. I would love to read more about Aimee and Qadir, how they go through life and their new life changes. But, I cannot wait to read the second book and hopefully the bad guys are caught and things come together a bit more. Maybe we will also see Aimee and Qadir more in the next book.

All in all, this book was written perfectly, and my only complaint is small, and I am a sucker to see characters live out their lives in books, versus just seeing part of their life.

Read this one! What a great, fast-paced story! I loved Jessica and Seth’s story. Partners with a palpable attraction, but each not knowing they like one another. Their developing relationship and romance draws the reader in and adds an element depth to the story, enhancing the suspenseful and thrilling pieces of the story. The author weaves the suspense in throughout the story and keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. I was turning the pages and read this in just a couple of sittings (and maybe lost some sleep) because I couldn’t put it down. The overall development of the characters and story culminated in an amazing read. I can’t wait to read another by this author!

Very well written, The Detail, is the first book I have read by this author. Full of action and some suspense. This book will have you on the edge of your seat in some points. The Male and Female main characters are partners as law enforcement officers, and they are attracted to each other yet the other has no clue how they feel. The fact that it is mutual, and they haven’t shared this with each other yet is the first in a long progression of suspenseful moments in this story. The storyline has substance, and the characters are well developed and very interesting. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

Forget 50 Shades!!
Now This is Adult Romance in All its Glory! I adore the D/s aspect of the relationship, and that it’s written absolutely naturally. Saccenti Delivers another flawless gem that is devastating to the hormones and the libido. More than that, the characters are so wonderfully written that this reads like a bit of a suspense mystery as well. I adored that aspect and the captivating scenery and imagery of the locales. This one has it all and will keep you hooked from start to finish!

This is the second book in Central Florida Stories. These books can be read as a standalone as well. This story is a romance, but with cartels and danger it gives the story an extra element. Add to it the BDSM factor and it becomes a gripping steamy read.
The author does an amazing job with the character. Both of our main characters have problems in their past that they are working through. As a reader I like that because it makes them feel more realistic.

In this story we are with Arely and Kurt. They have known each other for years as Kurt was a friend to Arely’s brother. Arely always had a soft spot for Kurt but she was always his friends baby sister.

Fast forward and their lives cross again in a way neither of them expected. Arely is on the run from a dangerous cartel and needs to keep a low profile. To do this she starts working behind the bar at a BDSM club. What she doesn’t realise is that the owner is Kurt.

Kurt has problems of his own, suffering from PTSD he’s struggling to function in every day life. He has no drive until a blast from the past in the form of Arely walks back into his life.
For the first time Kurt sees her as the woman she has now become and the Dom in him wants to claim her for his own.

Will this couple finally get their HEA? Will the cartel find Arely? And if they do will Kurt be able to protect her from the dangers that are coming her way?

The twists and turns had me sitting on the edge of my seat and turning pages fast. A story not only I don’t want to miss but also just hard to put down. A fast paced story that is full of action and even some romance. I enjoyed how the characters pulled me into their story. There is fast growth and great growth with the characters. Part two of this story is heart breaking. It has many explicit violence, sexual situations, disturbing situations related to the mental and emotional state of a person and taboo subjects, offensive language, and very mature subject matter. Recommended for age 18 and above . It’s a highly emotional book and I’d suggest reading it alone because it a roller-coaster of emotions. Jessica and Seth are both attracted to each other but fear doing anything because they are work partners. I loved the chemistry between which brought awkward facts on their ride to pick up a sociopath in Denver. Watching this play out was a little painful and a delight. Jessica’s family is a little dysfunctional and they use that against her.She worries about whether or not she is worthy of a relationship. Seth wants to show her she is. He wants to take care of her. Can these two figure this out? Can she let him in? Add the drama of the sociopath escaping and trying to get her. This was a new author to me and I’m now a new fan. The writing is superb. I was on the edge of my seat through this action. She left me feeling like I was in the middle of the drama. Jack is one sick puppy. The characters were very well-written. You could feel the emotions, the personalities and just every little quirk about them. The plot with its twists flowed so smooth. It made for a wonderful romantic suspense. Definitely an author I would recommend.

Something About Aimee (Girls from the Street Book 1) by S.E. Smith – Review by Chelsea Foster

Something About Aimee (Girls from the Street Book 1)Something About Aimee by S.E. Smith
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I could not put this book down!!! The beginning started off strong and it ended even stronger. Kept me on the edge of my seat so to speak! It was sweet, action-packed, and sort of a fairytale. Aimee’s story surprised me every time I learned something new about her. Her character was idolizing though she was sweet and spunky but super smart! Qadir was a strong character as well envisioning him and Aimee together was toe-curling good! This book wasn’t at all what I expected even after reading the synopsis. I highly encourage the read! I already have the next one on my pre-order list!

This is a fantastic suspenseful and romantic story that had me gripped right from the start. The story is the perfect amount of romance and thrilling intrigued to keep both genres interested. The characters are completely relatable. The have a depth to them that you sort always find in suspense books and I was behind them the whole way.
As a new author to me I wasn’t sure what to expect but after this book I am definitely a fan. I loved the writing style and the overall pace of the book. She knew exactly how to engage her readers and keep them hooked from beginning to end. I can’t wait to discover more of her work in the future.

The Detail by Dana Wayne – Review by Kerry Carr

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this story. I loved the mix of crime and romance. The twists and turns made this a very gripping story. The author does an amazing job with the characters and with their background it gives them real depth. I loved how both Jess and Seth have feelings for each other but neither feels brave enough to tell the other how they feel.
Their chemistry is great and the way they interact with each other in a fun teasing way makes their feelings clear to everyone but them.

Jess and Seth have been on a manhunt for a serial killer. Now they have their man they need to travel to collect him and bring him to face trial. With the times it’s going to take to get their and back Seth sees this as a chance to break down the walls and get to know Jess better. However with a serial killer in their car and a journey back full of problems things won’t be smooth.

With the serial killer in question out for vengence and his target being none other than Jess, both Seth and Jess struggling with their feelings and dealing with Jess ‘s family this is one story where you will not know what’s going to happen unless you read it.
Will Jess and Seth confess their feelings? Now that the serial killer has Jess in his sight will he be able to get his revenge? Will the confusing feelings between the partners make their job harder and cloud their judgement of their job?
