Trey: European Redemption (Russian Mob Chronicles Book 7) by Shandi Boyes – Review by Angela Hayes

Trey: European Redemption (Russian Mob Chronicles Book 7)Trey: European Redemption by Shandi Boyes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Trey: European Redemption is the seventh book in the Russian Mob Chronicles by Shandi Boyes. This book is definitely one of Shandi Boyes’ more disturbing stories. The story both unsettled and intrigued me at the same time. There were parts that made me incredibly uncomfortable with what was playing out and times I really wanted to close the book and walk away. I cannot honestly say that it is my favourite story of hers- but it definitely stirred quite a lot of reactions from me- tossing my emotions around like they were nothing but a rag doll. So, I do have to give her props for that.
This book has played on my mind a lot since I finished reading it, and has had me mulling over how I was going to review it- let alone rate it. But I think a story that can evoke so much from the reader, really does deserve some recognition. I love dark and disturbing stories- normally the darker the better. I like to have my mind twisted and my emotions toyed with. This story isn’t as dark as some that I have read and enjoyed- but there is something about it that left me uncomfortable and a little distressed. I took about eight pages of notes while reading this book- which is double what I normally do.
There are so many triggers in this book- so be warned! This is NOT a light and fluffy read. If you are looking for hearts and flowers, unicorns and rainbows- then this is definitely NOT the book for you. This story is NOT for the faint of heart. It is NOT a romance in the true sense of the word. So, let me make it clear- this is a Russian Mob/Mafia romance- with graphic violence, drug use/abuse/addiction, sex trafficking/exploitation/rape, violence towards women, swearing, brutality, torture, guns, blood, gore, and more. Trey is a dangerous unhinged Alpha Male I would class as an anti-hero, and I really wasn’t sure I was going to like him in the beginning with all his hard partying, manwhore, deadly ways. And poor Kristina has been so brutalized, held captive for years in the sex trafficking industry, so used and abused- my heart broke (and ached) for her and what she had been through- but I also admired the strength it took to get through all that without completely losing her mind. They are both damaged and broken- but form an intense connection despite it all. Will they be able to lead each other out of the darkness? You will need to read the story if you want to find out.
This is told from a duel/alternating POV- which really allows the reader to get a full perspective of what is going on and what is going through the characters minds as the story plays out. I appreciated getting such a rounded perspective of the story. There are a few flashbacks which help to build the backstory, as well as adding to the character depth and development.
There are a few issues that I found with this book that I don’t normally find or have with Shandi Boyes books- editing issues, and storyline issues. Then there were sentences/paragraphs with double spaces between words, while the rest of the book had a single space between words. Happy to say that these issues didn’t detract from my overall reading experience.
There is a nice surprise at the end of the book in the form of a sequel (novella) which is free to download (through the link supplied at the end)- which gives us more of Trey and Kristina’s story and answers some questions we may have initially been left with.
I debated what rating to award this book given that it disturbed me so much and really did make me so uncomfortable- which is really hard to do given that I love dark reads- so I came to the conclusion that the book deserved the 5 stars just for that reason alone.

Thank you, Shandi Boyes.

Fair warning, this book is dark, has triggers but oh my goodness is it so good! It can be read as a standalone but if you want a bit on some characters, read Nikolai’s books.
Trey & K, whew where do you even start with them? K is the leading woman you wish for in books like these, she is so strong, resilient and just a tough leading lady.
I’m not giving much away here as its best to read it, but if you are offended by curse words, mafia business etc, this isn’t for you but if it is, then grab this book, heck grab all the books by this author you won’t be disappointed.

Trey: European Redemption is the seventh book in Shandi Boyes’ Russian Mob Chronicles Series. It is a dark dark story that blows your mind! You can read it as a standalone but I promise you that you will want to know more about the people you come across in the story so prepare, you will need to tackle six more books once you have finished Trey.
In this amazing story we meet Trey and Kristina aka K. Shandi has once more woven a story that makes you part of the very fabric of it and it will haunt you for a long time to come. The journey that the both have been on for years, it leaves you broken and to find a way out to some sort of sanity … it is remarkable.
I can imagine some saying that this book is too graphic, too detailed but when I think of the horrors of human trafficking, I don’t think that anything can be too much as we need to be reminded over and over again what it does to our fellow humans so that we are vigilant and step up when needed. I am grateful to Shandi that she does not shy away to tackle something so dark that one could easily lost their way so I want to leave you with what Trey says to K to bring her back from the darkness she has gotten lost in : “The dark won’t last forever. Even on the blackest nights, stars still shine through. Let me be that star for you, Duchess. Let me guide you out of the dark.”

The only word I can say on this is WOW! Trey: European Redemption (Russian Mob Chronicles Book 7) by Shandi Boyes was intense! Trey is book 7, so I do recommend reading the others first but you don’t have to. You can read this as a standalone novel. Trey is a part of the mafia world. So needless to say that he has demons and is quite broken in his own right. Kristina, who was a part of the sex trafficking world has demons of her own and is also a bit broken. Trey sees that in her and understands her kind of hurt. This book is very raw and dark. The sex scenes are quite explosive. It is a very in your face kind of book. Like I said before it is quite intense, which will have you turning pages continuously. For me, it was so very good! I have no problem recommending this book to someone who likes gritty and dangerous books. This book will suck you in and become intoxicating. I truly hope there are more to this series and can’t wait to read more!

This story is a dark romance and can trigger some bad feelings. The story has sex-trafficking in the story line. Shandi Boyes attention to detail that this warning needs to be made. The characters are complex, and what they go through is character building. The struggles they go through kept me reading to the very end. Kristina is the young lady who was taken for a royal-blooded aristocrat who had to have her. He sexually assaulted her for six years and she did not have that in her heart, but she did show the abuse physically. That is until Trey comes along. Trey has the self esteem level as Kristina. Will Trey rescue Kristina and will Kristina rescue Trey right back? You will have to read the story to find out what happens to Trey and Kristina.

So I totally messed up reading this book, I only read the very first Nikolai then jumped into this one…For me this was a big mistake. I was so confused trying to remember things and could tell there was so much that happened in between…but in true Shandi fashion she made it to where I’d get over those moments and then couldn’t put the book down. Shandi Boyes is in a class of her own, her talent is unmatched in these types of books. I will remedy my situation and have all of these books read in order very soon!

The action, the suspense, the emotion, the danger, the never knowing what’s going to happen next made this book completely amazing. There were parts that were seriously hard to read, but it’s a dark mafia romance..that kind of comes with the territory.

I’m completely amazed at how this author can continue to release all of these books in all different series and each one feels completely new. Her stories are never predictable and I love that. I loved K and Trey, I loved their sweet sides and their not so sweet sides, and how they bridged the communication gap they had.

I totally loved this book and in my opinion even though it can be read I suppose as a stand alone I truly believe they all need to be read in order.

Thank you Shandi Boyes for yet another awesome story!

I’m never quite prepared for the rollercoaster I embark upon when I pick up a book from Boyes. But it is the best kind of thrill ride. Twists and turns and moments that take your breath away. I’ve read a few other books from this series and have greater desire to reread those books as well as pick up the rest. Boyes is a gifted writer, one that captures intense moments that grip you and leave you glued to your chair. I loved every suspense filled moment and that there is a fantastic romantic storyline tying it together. Fantastic!

It’s been a while since I picked up a book by Ms Boyes so when I saw this one I thought I need my mob fix so I dived right in and wow what a book it was! Not that I expected anything less from one of my favourite authors but this was honestly a fantastic read – action from beginning to end and amazing characters that drag you along for the ride! I think I have to say this book might not be for everybody but I was completely sucked into Trey’s story. Apart from Trey – a love to hate character maybe, I have to say Kristina was one brilliant female lead! She had this strength and confidence about her that I absolutely loved especially considering what she had been through! Trey was a pretty complex character but I loved getting to know him more and I loved the two of them together!
If you’re looking for a darker read then this book will be 100% for you! I loved every second of it and I can’t wait for more!!

I won’t lie, I get excited when I see there is a new Russian Mob Chronicles book from Shandi Boyes. When I found out we were getting Trey’s book it was even sweeter of a deal. I loved him and the tidbits we got in Nikolai’s story so I knew this was gonna be one I was going to adore. I was not for one moment disappointed! I would recommend that you read the other books in the series before diving into this one. You will understand the world a bit better for sure that Trey is a part of.

When Trey meets Kristinia he is immediately drawn to her and consumed really by her. Trey is known for his protective personality and would do anything to protect the ones he loves and now Kristina is apart of that category. She has had one hell of a past six years as she was trafficked in the sex-trafficking trade, something that is an extremely difficult topic to tackle anytime but especially in the world we are currently living. I love how Shandi Boyes doesn’t shy away from the dark sides of this life and keeps things raw and gritty the whole time. I would say if you don’t like or enjoy dark romance maybe keep that in mind before picking this one up. I can’t wait to see what comes next from Boyes!

Trey is the 7th book in the Russian Mob Chronicles by Shandi Boyes. Some of the books in this series can be read as a standalone and this is one of those. I had previously read some, but not all, of the books in this series and did not feel that I was missing any relevant information to allow me to understand and enjoy this book.
I first became a fan of Shandi Boyes when I read the Enigma Series as I loved the gritty characters and storylines that she writes and this book is exactly that. The storyline is dark and gritty and the characters are equally hard and gritty. K has to be one of the gutsiest and determined heroines I’ve ever read. When you read just how much she has gone through in her life, you can’t help but be amazed by her grit and determination. I also adored Trey. He may be a ruthless killer but K brings out a whole different side of him no one has ever seen and he never knew he was capable of.
This book is filled with so much danger and intrigue. You are pulled in from the very first page and this book just does not let you go. ‘Page turner’ does not do it justice. I did not want to put this book down, it was so good.

Trey: European Redemption (Russian Mob Chronicles Book 7) by Shandi Boyes is a dark romance story. Shandi Boyes is not one to shy away from the darker side of things and likes to push the boundaries to give us something raw and twisted. There may be triggers for some as it deals with human trafficking, violence, abuse and more. If you can see past these you will find that whilst it makes you cringe at times it is a great story. Shandi’s writing always captivates and enthrals me as I stepped into the world of mafia’s and the utter despicable darkness in there.

While I really enjoyed the story at times I felt like they were talking about Something I couldn’t figure out (Maybe because this is book 7 and I haven’t read any of the others). Then as the story progressed I just let some of that stuff slide right by. That being said this is about two gritty characters who have been through hell and are not sure if they want to leave it behind since it offers comfort to them. I liked the two main characters equally. Each is strong and have come out the other side knowing their faults and yet becoming stronger. There are times that I really LOVED what Trey would say to K. Made my heart ache and fill with awe at the same time.

The secondary characters were wonderfully easy to like or hate respectively. Each had a place and they served it well. I want to give a shout out to Eight! He was probably my favorite.

Overall I loved the characters and the story. The story flowed well other than a few times and I could really feel what the characters were feeling. It’s a bit dark and I Ioved every second.

Trey: European Redemption by Shandi Boyes is the seventh book in the Russian Mob Chronicles. This book is a dark and twisted story but one that fully pulls you in. For me what made this book so good is the fact that the characters are so dark and flawed. Their world isn’t all light and roses and happily ever afters but that is exactly why their love story is so brilliant.
The author caught my attention straight away and I knew I had to see what journey these two were about to go on. I loved every second of it and found the book to be very exciting to read.
Shandi Boyes has become one of those authors that I know to expect a good story out of. Her writing style is so gripping I always enjoy what she produces. This book is fantastic and I can not recommend it highly enough.

Trey: European Redemption (Russian Mob Chronicles Book 7) by Shandi Boyes

This is part of the Russian Mob Chronicles, but can be read as a stand alone. This is my first read by the author, but it will not be my last. Mrs. Boyes knows how to write a darn good book.

Trey, a Russian Mob member, soon learns that the past doesn’t always stay where it should. He learns that his life is going to change, but not much. The quote I choose for Trey is: “What aren’t you telling me, Dok?”

Kristina, K or Duchess, as Trey calls her. She’s held captive by someone who wants to draw Trey out. Little does she know Trey is going to change everything she’s ever known. She is sucked away from her life, but is brought back. The quote I choose for K is: “Yes, I recognize him.”

This is a book I highly recommend. It’s for anyone who loves a good story involving mobs and love. This will not be the last book I read by this author.

This was a gripping story to read. It deals with human sex trafficking which can be a very sensitive subject and while some People may not like how graphic the book was i think it was needed to actually get across the pain, humiliation and despair that people go through. I really enjoyed this book and the characters are so well written you find yourself wanting the best for them and rooting for them to succeed.

Trey himself has his own demons to fight from his past which keeps him cold, distanct and a trained killer. As Nikolai’s second in command he is very protective of those he cares about and will stop at nothing to protect them.

When he first meets K she is a victim rescued from a house where they were used as sex slaves. Something inside her eyes speaks to Trey and he realises she is has broken as he is.

Can they mend each other or are their demons too big to overcome?

This book is one of the grittiest I’ve read in awhile. I didn’t enjoy how graphic Kristina’s life was prior to meeting Trey but at least she kept a decent head on her shoulders to move away from all of the pain she endured. I love the way they not only loved one another but sought out to heal one another’s wounds after a worse past that could’ve taken the both of them down but in different ways. This is a sweet book about resilience, determination and the sweetest love that one can experience. We have to remember the characters are also human but as we all are, they are also flawed but in the best ways possible.

Trey: European Redemption (Russian Mob Chronicles Book 7) by Shandi Boyes was a great 5 star read. I love a good read and this story pulled me right in, the author pushes the boundaries on the topic and grittiness.

This is Trey and Kristina’s (Duchess) story. Trey works for Nikolai who we met in a previous book. Trey is very protective and when he meets Kristina he’s pulled right in by her. There was something about her eyes, something familiar. Kristina was forced into sex-trafficking the last six years and I would consider her a survivor. Trey also has some things from his past that have made him the man he is today.

Can these two put each other back together again?

Overall I really enjoyed this read. My emotions were all over the place, we get so much in one book. I really liked these two characters and the secondary characters added a great element to the story. I will warn that some things in this book may cause triggers for some. I look forward to reading more from this series and author. I love an author who isn’t afraid to give you dark, gritty and so much more. I loved this steamy dark romance story. This author has continued to impress me with her attention to details and her writing skills. This is not my first book by this author but it ranks up there as one of my favorites. This is a well developed story that has characters that made the story pop off the pages. I found it to be engaging and fast paced. I read this story in one sitting as it is that awesome. I had no problem connecting with the characters as they brought the story to life for me. This is a story about Kristina and Trey. She has had a lot of trauma in her life and has been left scarred in many ways. Trey sees her as so much more than her past but has his own insecurities. What will fate have in store for these two? Will they find each other or will their insecurities be unfixable? This is a dark story that could cause some triggers but if you can get past that you will find a story you will love as much as I did. I highly recommend this book and this author.

I loved reading the book Trey: European Redemption (Russian Mob Chronicles Book 7) by Shandi Boyes. It is a story that pulls you in from the beginning and I was hooked. It is a dark story that includes danger and suspense. It is a book that has a dark atmosphere and had me turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. I loved reading about the characters of Kristina Svoboda and Trey Corbyn. Kristina is a woman who for the last six years made to endure life in the sex-trafficking industry. She is intelligent, stubborn, and has a will to survive. Trey is a man that when he looks at Kristina sees a woman who has survived. Although he is a broken man, he finds himself drawn to and possessive of Kristina. Can two people who are broken make each other whole again? Read this book to find out what happens to Trey and Kristina. This is a story that has heartbreaking moments. The treatment that Kristina makes made me feel both angry and sad for her. She is a character that I couldn’t help but have empathy for. This is a book that takes you on a journey into dark places and does have some scenes that may be hard to read about. The story is written in such a way that I felt like I was right there with the characters. Don’t miss out on a book that you won’t be able to put down until the final page. I highly recommend reading it.

A kaleidoscope is a cylinder full of broken pieces, yet everyone still stares at it in awe. Who’s to say the same can’t be said for women?
Before being thrust in the violent and terrifying sex-trafficking industry, Kristina Svoboda lived in a tiny hamlet in her home country of Czechia. She had an unfulfilling yet peaceful life before she drew the eye of a royal-blooded aristocrat who took what he wanted and lived his life without consequences.
For six years, she’s been beaten, tortured, and exploited, yet her shoulders don’t carry the weight of her abuse. Her heart does, which is exactly what Trey Corbyn plays on when he spots her from afar seconds after she’s released from captivity.
He sees past the frail skin, hollow eyes, and waif-thin exterior.
He sees a survivor.
A woman.
Someone just as broken as him.
With his instincts no longer in existence and his possessiveness dangerous, can a broken man fix a fragilely timid woman? Or will his insecurities worsen her cracks until they reach a point they’ll be unfixable?
Trey: European Redemption is a gritty story about finding love in the darkest of places. It’s raw, intimidating, and shows even when you’ve been beaten to believe otherwise, sometimes dreams do come true. This book has violent scenes that may be distressing to some readers. Caution is advised. It is book seven in the Russian Mob Chronicles, however, it can be read as a standalone.

**sigh**

Had to take some time to write this review because as usual Shandi has messed with my mind, I don’t know how she does it time and time again with every single book I read of hers.

This one was a bit different and I can’t help but wonder already how this story is going to develop and end, I know I will be finding out as soon as possible. My thoughts were all jacked up during this…Do I like this guy, or no? As the story progressed I realize Oh Yes I really like this guy..I was a bit unsure about Justine at first, I just wanted her to be a little stronger at the beginning, but she also drew me in quick once the story progressed. The heat between these two was something you could almost feel while reading.

I love all the little stories going on with each of them, her brother, his Dad, I have a feeling this is going to be one of those series that I will be rereading many many times, and can I just say that I have also fallen totally in love with Roman and can’t wait to see how his character is involved in the rest of this series.

She has done it again, and I highly recommend this book and even more so recommend this author. She is in a class of her own. An automatic one click for me, I don’t even read the synopsis anymore all I need is to see Shandi Boyes on the cover and it’s a no brainer!!

Loved Loved Loved It!!
