Gone Country (Gone in Love) by Katrina Marie – Review by Sara Oxton

Gone Country (Cousins Gone #1)Gone Country by Katrina Marie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Gone Country by Katrina Marie a delightfully charming four-star read. This could have been a five-star read, and I had high hopes for it, I am hoping that the next one will knock it over the edge. This took a while to warm up to and get into, Stella I got as I am also clumsy and have some shocking luck, but other parts left me cold. But by the end of the story, her and Johnny give you the warm and fuzzies. It has a good story, once you get to the meat of it, so I would say keep going if you start and wonder what is going on.

Dating the InternDating the Intern by Natalina Reis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dating the Intern by Natalina Reis a light-hearted and sweet five-star read. I enjoy reading this author, they always have a fresh twist to what ever they write, and I enjoy the writing and the story. It was fun, watching what started as fake and just something to keep others happy ended up showing a much deeper happiness. This has some great characters and set ups, these story is deep enough that you feel the connection but not so deep that you get bogged down, if you are looking for light, funny and charming then this is for you.

BOY RELEASED (BOY SERIES BOOK 2) by JD Spero – Review by Sara Oxton

Boy ReleasedBoy Released by J.D. Spero
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Boy Released by J.D. Spero a fantastic four-star read. This one takes place a number of years after the first story Boy on Hold and tells just as a compelling story, dealing with mental health in an honest and refreshing manner, and it is best if you read that one first, as it gives you a deeper understanding and gets you used to the writing style, as the different POV’s can be challenging, but it does add something to the story, more than just the overall view, it adds more drama to me. This is a great story, and one that stays with you as you read.

THE MARCY SERIES BOXSET: BOOKS 1-3 by Linda J. Burson – Review by Sara Oxton

The Marcy Series Box Set: Books 1-3The Marcy Series Box Set: Books 1-3 by Linda Burson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Marcy series box set by Linda Burson fantastic four-star reads.
Rage, Confusion and Agony and Ecstasy complete the Marcy series, this series was good, and it shows us Marcy is a strong character and she shows us her strength of character that will surprise you at times, but it will also show you how great the writing and character development is by this author. These stories have their ups and downs and suspense a plenty as well as drama, there is a love triangle, so that’s kinda a given. But there’s another side as well, a deeper side that’s filled with a depth and drama you don’t see often, its well written and compelling and makes a very fast paced story easy to grasp. Overall, they are very good stories, they just missed that something special that blew me away.

Hold Me ForeverHold Me Forever by Lea Nolan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hold me Forever by Lea Nolan a five-star read that I set alight by the chemistry in the pages. This is number three in the Heron Harbour books and I have loved them all, the characters do pop up in each other’s stories, and you do enjoy them as a series, but at a push they could be read as stand-alone, but they are a great series so you would be missing out. Lark is someone you will simply adore, she has her passion and you cant miss strong it makes her.

Bared. (Green St. Girls #1)Bared. by N.D. Jackson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Bared by N.D. Jackson a five-star read that will leave your soul bare. This is the first story in the Green St. Girls series, and I can’t wait to hear more from the girls as they have such a great story to tell. Athena feels like she is doing it right, but don’t we all, and maybe she needs a little help from an unexpected source. A little distraction and help can be a good thing. Sometimes winning is everything, sometimes its so much more.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Houses of Deception by Cynthia Hamilton a five-star read that will keep you on your toes. I have adored the Madeline Dawkins series and to find that this was number six surprised me as its still as fresh as the first, as this whole series has been filled with great well plotted and rounded characters, that have a realness to them, they grow and develop as you read. Madeline and Mike will put you through your paces as you read, have you wondering and following and gripped all the way.

Avenging Devil Part 2: Satan's Devils MC San DiegoAvenging Devil Part 2: Satan’s Devils MC San Diego by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Avenging Devil part two by Manda Mellett a devilish five-star read. This is part of the Satan’s Devils San Diego MC series and follows on from part one, so you must have read that one first. Number one was so good it gave me chills and left me wanting more, but number two, left me unable to read for 2 days, and that’s unheard of for me. Major book hangover as this story, dark as it is, and I haven’t seen much darker than this for a long time, was so sublimely skin chillingly good.

The Heart of Baker’s Bay by Danielle Jacks a magical five-star read. I simply adored this story both Adam and Jody as well as a whole host of other characters make this story into one that you will want to be whisked away to the heart of the story. It did start a little slowly, but then suddenly I was pulled in and that was it, I couldn’t stop reading. Jody and Adam both grow as you read, and this is just simply a great story.

Snowflakes and Holly: A Small Town Christmas Romance (A Hartwood Holiday Romance)Snowflakes and Holly: A Small Town Christmas Romance by Jae Dawson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Snowflakes and Holly by Jae Dawson a sweet and warm four-star read. This is number three in the Hartwood Holiday romance series, but they can all be read as standalone as they are all about different main characters, this time it’s Christmas and well, I wasn’t feeling it as we are in the middle of a heatwave, and I am certain that if I re-read it at Christmas, it will be a five-star read. Blake and Holly will have you puling your teeth out, they have infuriating qualities but they will also win you round and have your heart melting like the snow.

Taking Flight (Code of Honor Book 2) by Brooke May – Review by Sara Oxton

Taking FlightTaking Flight by Brooke May
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Taking Flight by Brooke May a fabulous five-star read. This is number two in the code of honour series, and I loved it as much as the first, it was so nice to see the other side of the story, it just built more and created this amazing depth to everyone. It could be read as stand-alone, but I would highly recommend that you read them in order, as you do get so much from each story. Brooke May is such a compelling writer, I have enjoyed so many of their stories, but this series has been my favourite as even though I haven’t liked all of the characters but its just made it a much stronger story. Do not miss this amazing series, or this sublime author.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sex on Fire by Ashley Bostock a fun and fiery five-star read. This was super short but packs enough of a punch that you know you have read and enjoyed a great story, I can’t wait to hear more about the naughty neighbours. Turner was so much more than I imagined him to be, and Poppy was some one I could understand deep in my heart. This is ideal if you just want something short and sweet, with enough heat to warm.

A Cold Day in Hell (Life is Hell #5)A Cold Day in Hell by Naomi Valkyrie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Cold Day in Hell by Naomi Valkyrie a fantastical five-star read. This is number five in the Life is Hell series and its just as strong as the first, if not stronger as they all build on each other and develop the characters, normally by book five in a series one of the stories will drag a little, or someone will start to grate, but this author manages to keep it fresh and fun, and just keeps giving a deeper story to pull you in. This time its Haddie and Jezebel we get to hear more from, both are characters that grate in some ways, but warm you so much in others. They each have a side of the story and together they may the page light up.

Mr. Nice Guy (Pierce Brothers, #1)Mr. Nice Guy by Belinda Williams
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Mr Nice Guy by Belinda Williams a fun five-star read. This is the first story in the Pierce Brothers series, and I am excited for the next story in the series as this has been fun and romantic and just nice to read. Chelsea reminds me of me, I used to adore the bad boys, and didn’t see the appeal of the nice guy, until I married one. I oved how the story showed, that just because someone appears one way, they may not always be that way. This will suck you in and Chelsea will annoy you, but she will also endear you, at least she did with me. Belinda Williams writes a good funny romcom always.

Unlikely in Love (A Parker Lake Novel Book 1) by Olivia Sherwood – Review by Sara Oxton

Unlikely in Love (A Parker Lake Novel Book 1)Unlikely in Love by Olivia Sherwood
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Unlikely in Love by Olivia Sherwood a likely five-star read. This is the first book in the Parker Lane Novel series, this author has me wishing I lived in small town America, instead of the rainy small village in Wales I currently live in. She writes characters that you can’t help but fall in love with and want to help them. It’s almost like when you are watching a scary movie and the hot blonde goes up the dark stairs and you shout at the TV, I was like that reading this book, at one point calling someone an idiot and telling them to pull their head from the dark. I got some strange looks in work for that one. There was also some other looks for inappropriate giggling, but I didn’t care. I was like read this book then look at me like that again.
If you want to read a book from what is going to be a very promising series, then this is the book for you. This author is one of those writers that once you pick up you will want to read everything they publish, she has a way of getting into your brain with her words. (In a good way)

Lake of Flowers (Lord Hani #5)Lake of Flowers by N.L. Holmes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Lake of Flowers by N.L. Holmes a fantastic five-star read. This is number five in the Lord Hani Mysteries and we follow Hani on his journey, you don’t have to read them in order as they all focus on a different main story, and just follow Hani as he creates and solves mysteries, that always makes writing reviews for this series difficult, as I never know what to say without spoiling the mystery and the drama, as the author has a great way of keeping that tension level high and keeping you guessing. If you like a good mystery, then you need to pick this series up.

King creates this environment that sucks you in and wraps you in the story straight away, the characters feel fully formed straight away, you don’t need pages and pages to get to know them. Of Fire and Bone by Natalina Reis a fab four-star read. This is number three in the of Magic and Scales series and this is the final one in the series, so its best to read them in order. This won’t be for everyone as it’s a M/M story, but its well done. Aiden and Nael will keep you on your toes, it was so nice finding endings to some of the stories that have kept me hooked, but I was sad to see these Magical creatures go, that was sad. Do not miss this series as they build and grow and develop a sublime story.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Arsonists Handbook by L.A. Detwiler a gripping four-star read. This was my first read by this author, but it wont be the last, there was enough drama and intrigue to keep you hooked, and enough story to keep you wondering. It was the torment that got to me, it was too well done, and that’s weird as normally I love it, but my heart was in my stomach as I was reading it made me feel like it was too real, too deep. This is a story that will stay with you, it will hook you and leave you burning.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Avenging Devils Part 1 by Manda Mellett a sublime five-star read. This is the third story in the Satan’s Devils MC San Diego series, and there is a part two coming very soon I hope, as I can understand why the author had to split this story, there is no way you could fit it all in, it’s a very deep and dark story and I have loved everything by this author and I loved this, but it did take me longer than normal to read as I had to breathe so many times. I was broken on behalf of Saffie, no one should have so many knocks, but my goodness does it make a sublime story. This is intense and so well done, you won’t love everyone but that just makes this story so much deeper, bring on part two!!

Confessions of a Sophomore Prankster (Frat House Confessions #6)Confessions of a Sophomore Prankster by Danielle Jacks

Confessions of a Sophomore Prankster by Danielle Jacks a fantastic five-star read. This is number six in the Frat House confessions series, but they can all be read as stand-alone, but I do plan on checking some of the other authors out to see how they take their spin. Setter is so much more than you first think, he is adorable, in his own little way. Normally he would be someone I wouldn’t like much on the surface, but the more you get to know him the easier he gets. Casey I understood from the off, and I just adored her every moment, felling her sadness and crossing everything for her in my own crazy way. Do not miss this funny, sweet and so much more story.

Competing with the Star by Krysten Lindsay Hagar a fab four-star read. This is number two in the Star series and its best to read them in order as they do follow on the story and build the characters. This will have you harking back to being a teenager if you aren’t one reading this story, if you are a teenager, it will be like reading your diary. Hadley will pull you as she faces her struggles, and they are struggles we all face at some point in life, it just so happens that Hadley’s seem to be happening just as she was getting it all together. I enjoyed this story, but it didn’t pull me like the first, it could be me as I am so crazy right now, so I am eagerly awaiting number three to see what will be happening next.

Carnival of Shadows by Leslie Scott a fairground read of a four-star read. This is number two in the Black Water Magic series, and I hadn’t realised before I started this one and I didn’t feel like I missed anything, you took off running and got straight in. Teagan wasn’t someone I warmed to so much, but as the story progressed, I started to really like her, and get to know her better. It’s a very good paranormal story and I have really enjoyed this story. There are lots of elements to this story that get pulled together, and they all pull together to create a good story, there were just a couple of small elements that made me wonder.

This is number one in the Unrequited series, and I am eager for more, this has everything it needs to be brilliant, angst, passion, drama, heart wringing emotions, friends to lovers. It just didn’t have characters I loved all the way through. There is lots going on with this story, and different story lines, but its easy to keep them clear as you read. I am definitely a lot older than the intended audience, but I still loved it. Hadley, Hadley, Hadley what are we going to do with you, I went between loving and hating her so much, but then I remembered she is a teenager and the drama that goes on at that age, it makes it all the more understandable. This was my first by this author and I hope not my last, the writing style was nice, and the flow kept me hooked, the emotions running through this story will astound you, its raw and emotional and at times will suffocate you, and then in others chuckling and smiling with them. This was surprisingly short, it seemed like I had just started and then I was halfway through. But that did mean that you could enjoy the story.
