Degrees of Innocence (Prestian Series Book #1) by Via Mari – Review by Sara Oxton

Degrees of Innocence (Prestian Series, #1)Degrees of Innocence by Via Mari
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Degrees of Innocence by Via Mari a four-star read that you will want. This is the first book in the Prestian series and I can’t wait to read the rest. This will set your pulse a flutter, so be advised don’t read in public if you blush easily, it’s a story of dominance and control and filled with chemistry that will set the pages alight, I would have given it five, but the story just lacked a little but I have high hopes for the second story in the series. Katrina is a character that is full of complications and twists and has a certain quality to her that will make you fall in love with her. Chase also can be a pain at times but there is something about him that you will adore. Great read overall.

Special Agent Charli (Undercover FBI Book 6) by Mimi Barbour – Review By Sara Oxton

Special Agent Charli (Undercover FBI Book 6)Special Agent Charli by Mimi Barbour
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Special Agent Charli by Mimi Barbour a four-star read that will intrigue and mesmerise you. This is the sixth book in the Undercover FBI agent series and they are all true stand-alone reads, I haven’t read the preceding books but will be going back to check them out. Special Agent Charli Madison is a great character, she was funny and honest and someone you would love to help solve crimes. Charli is only one upped by her gramps, who is amazing, so very very funny. The chemistry between Charli and Blake will make you sizzle. This was a great read and I can’t wait the rest of the series.

The Last keeper of the Light by Nikki Broadwell – Review by Sara Oxton

The Last Keeper of the Light: a dystopian fantasyThe Last Keeper of the Light: a dystopian fantasy by Nikki Broadwell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Last keeper of the light by Nikki Broadwell a four-star read that will show you the light. This is a dystopian fantasy of the highest order, what a great example of the genre. This was a great story and showed just how far some people have to go to survive. This has some great elements to the story, there is drama and passion and cruelty and loneliness that will leave you breathless. Scandal was great and really showed you what true fight can bring. Overall a good story that you will enjoy.

Unbreak This Heart by Betty Shreffler – Review by Sara Oxton

Unbreak This HeartUnbreak This Heart by Betty Shreffler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Unbreak this heart by Betty Shreffler a five-star read that will break you. This isn’t my first read by this author, but it is my favourite, this author has a way with dealing with powerful and uncomfortable circumstances and making them compelling reading. Be warned you will need a box of tissues with this read, but they are worth it. The characters in this story are powerful and once you start to hear their voices as you read you won’t be able to put it down. Alex’s story is one that will stay with you, the way she fights her demons will give you courage and I think we all need a little Jane in all of our lives.

Moments That Define Us (Gray Ghost #0.5)Moments That Define Us by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Moments that Define us by Amy McKinley a five-star read that will define you. This is a prequel to Gray ghost series and I have read the first two books and then gone back to read this one as I enjoyed the series and it was nice going back and finding out where it all started, seeing Jack and understanding him better was a great and compelling read. Its super short but also super thrilling and a great compliment to a great series.

Plot Twist (Romance in Rehoboth #3) by K.L. Montgomery – Review by Sara Oxton

Plot Twist (Romance in Rehoboth #3)Plot Twist by K.L. Montgomery
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Plot Twist by K.L. Montgomery a four-star read that will twist you. This is the third book in the Romance in Rehoboth series they can be read as stand-alone but I have read as a series and enjoyed them as such, again as with the previous book I wanted to give it five-stars but there was something stopping me, its weird, its well written and has great characters a plot you could believe in and situations that will twist your heart. I think with this one if you have read a few of the authors previous books you will notice recurring themes through her writing and it was almost face slapping in this one, If you can get over that you will love it. If your new to the author, then enjoy her writing. Meric Chandler did make me want to punch him once or twice with just how clueless and uncaring he first appeared, but as you get to know him and understand him you will go from wanting to punch him to believing in him, like he does himself, he shows us that he can be a baddie on the stage and a goodie the other side of the curtain. Lindy Larson I struggled with, I know she doesn’t have any confidence in herself, but then she does things that show you different. By the end I changed my view and she did make a great heroine of the story.

Burning Britely by Deidre Huesmann – Review by Sara Oxton

Burning BritelyBurning Britely by Deidre Huesmann
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Burning Britely by Deidre Huesmann a four-star read that will burn your heart. I picked this read up as I had enjoyed the authors work before and like the way they write so I didn’t read the blurb before picking it up, and it was a refreshing way to read as it gave me a totally fresh palate and I loved the story, it was powerful, emotional and compassion. Watching Jeff as he grew into himself, watching him go through high school and face the struggles and watch him study to cope, his friendship with Braeden faces lots of social pressure and this book will be great for any young person to show them what we all face, or anyone who was once young, anyone who faced similar struggles.

Won’t Let You Down (A Cedarville Novel Book 8) by Bree Kraemer – Review by Sara Oxton

Won't Let You Down (A Cedarville Novel Book 8)Won’t Let You Down by Bree Kraemer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Won’t let you down by Bree Kraemer a five-star read that won’t let you down. This is the eighth book in the Cedarville series they can be read as stand-alone, but I have loved the series and would recommend you read them as such as you will want to go back and read them all. This author has a magical way with words that will transport you from wet and windy Wales to small town America sat at the bar in Dockside having a drink with bunch of strangers who make you feel like family. I will be honest, and Joy wasn’t my favourite character when I first saw her in this series, but seeing her story develop and finding out what made her the woman she is now. It made me realise that she is a much stronger woman than she gives herself credit for and I can’t wait to see her pop up in the future books. The one thing I loved is how you see other characters, old and new pop up and all I can think of is who’s next? Whose story will we find next? I cant wait.

Badge Bunny (Romance in Rehoboth #4) by K.L. Montgomery – Review by Sara Oxton

Badge Bunny (Romance in Rehoboth Book 4)Badge Bunny by K.L. Montgomery
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Badge Bunny by K.L. Montgomery a five-star read that will make you hop. This is book four in the Romance in Rehoboth series and my favourite of the whole series, the can be read as stand-alone but characters do pop up in each other’s stories, I have read as a series and enjoyed it as such. This book was sublime, I loved how Chris Everson the dark and broody Trooper who has a way with words that melt underwear as well as much else has this whole other side to him, he is such a playboy that I was convinced his secret was that he was a male entertainer, he just has the confidence for it. Needless to say, it’s not that but it will make your heart warm. Its not just him that isn’t what you expect on the surface, Brynne Miller is also not what she seems, a studious doctor on the surface, and a metal head badge bunny underneath, but just like deaf leppard she can change her spots, just because police officers are all she meets in her job, doesn’t mean she has to date them does it? This story will keep you hooked as they fight the drama and get ready for a wedding, will it all work in the end? You need to read the story to find out.

Georgia Clay (Southern Promises, #1)Georgia Clay by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Georgia Clay by K.G. Fletcher a four-star read that will take you away. This is the first book in the Southern promise series and it tells us the lovely story of Clay and Katie and ohh what a story, a story of how two seemingly opposite people attract. Who knew a ten-year reunion could bring such a bang, this was a sweet story with some great moments that will suck you in and spit you out an emotional wreck later. If you like sweet and romantic, then this series will be one for you.

My Fake Vegas Boyfriend (Viva Las Vegas Book 1) by Lori Sizemore – Review by Sara Oxton

My Fake Vegas Boyfriend (Viva Las Vegas Book 1)My Fake Vegas Boyfriend by Lori Sizemore
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

My Fake Vegas Boyfriend by Lori Sizemore a four-star read that will snap you away. This is the first book in the Viva Las Vegas series and it kicks off with a bang, I am sure I will be reading the rest to see how the story progresses, the characters are just that good. Layla was a great person, she was someone who kept you on your toes all the way through, I liked how the story was set in 1958 and not in recent times as you really got swept up in how life was then, how a simple action could cause so much drama, if it was set now there wouldn’t be that added twist to the story, it would be missing something special. Lori Sizemore was a new author to me and I’m glad that I took the chance and read this story as I think I have found a new author to follow.

Nikolai: A Mafia Prince Romance by Shandi Boyes – Review by Sara Oxton

Nikolai: A Mafia Prince RomanceNikolai: A Mafia Prince Romance by Shandi Boyes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Nikolai: A Mafia Prince Romance by Shandi Boyes a five-star read that you will adore. This is the first book in the Russian Mob Chronicles and I cant wait to read the rest, I am a huge fan of the author but have been waiting for a few books in the series to come out as I started another series by this author and waited like a loony for the next book in the series, I even called in sick to read the last book when it was released. This story has it all, its fast paced and thrilling and will make you feel like each page sets you in fire more than the last. Nikolai is a very powerful man, the description of him will curl your toes in the best way possible, I am sure I would be throwing a law degree away for him as I wouldn’t be able to stop myself.

The Flip (Romance in Rehoboth #2)The Flip by K.L. Montgomery
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Flip by K.L. Montgomery a four-star read that you will flip over. This is the second book in the Romance in Rehoboth series and they are all stand-alone but do feature characters from the series, I have read it as part of the series and enjoyed it as such. I would have loved to have given this five-stars as it’s a really great story, but something stopped me, and I can’t put my finger on it. Overall it was great, but there are just a couple of moments that let it down for me. But that being said there are some of the greatest moments in this that involve an alligator ever written, you will be laughing out loud with this one. Sonnet and Andrew have a romance written in the stars, but it takes a lot to see the stars sometimes. I am excited to read this whole series.

The Blogger and The Hunk by Jane Matisse – Review by Sara Oxton

The Blogger and the HunkThe Blogger and the Hunk by Jane Matisse
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Blogger and the Hunk by Jane Matisse a five-star read you will want to snuggle with. What a great debut novel, I really hope that this author keeps up the writing as I need more of her style in my life. This story may be similar to some others out there, but the author has taken a new spin and breathes life into the story, she makes it her own with blog posts at the start of each chapter and they all have great little quirks to them that make the story that much funnier. Penelope was a great character and I adored her behaviours she was a little crazy and quirky she was so prim and proper, and you couldn’t imagine her misbehaving then she goes wild and ends up stealing clothes, all of the little details made for such a great story that I just couldn’t put it down. Thank you Jane Matisse you have a great talent for writing and now you need to get back to the keys.

Found in Understanding (Refuge Series #3) by Debbie Zello – Review by Sara Oxton

Found in Understanding (Refuge Series #3)Found in Understanding by Debbie Zello
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Found in Understanding by Debbie Zello a four-star read you need to find. This is the third book in the Refuge series, it can be read as stand-alone, but I would say read the series as they do build the authors writing style and you will get more out of it. I will be honest, I enjoyed the book, but it wasn’t as good as some of the others by this author. I will admit though, I think it was me as this was such an emotional read and I wasn’t in the place for it. I am sure I will re-read this story and find it so much better. It was very heavy in the back story and then glossed over some of the more current details that I felt we could have been dealt with in more details, that being said I loved the first couple of chapters where we got the initial story of Firelight, where she got her beautiful name and how. So that’s why I think you should give this book a go, I know I will be re-reading once I get over my funk.

Brody (Default Distraction Book 1) by A. S. Roberts – Review by Sara Oxton

Brody (Default Distraction Book 1)Brody by A. S. Roberts
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Brody by A.S. Roberts a five-star read that will distract you. This is the first book in the Default Distraction series and the rest of the band and books can’t come soon enough. The old adage money can’t buy you happiness has never been in a position where you only have 3 items bought in your shop all day and bills that need paying, but on the other hand even when you have more than you will ever need like a Rockstar who rules the world doesn’t mean you will be happy either. But when you have chemistry that blows your socks off, money is the last thing on your mind. I love of the little details in this story, the description of a blue pair of gloves, the rolling of pastry the simple things that make the story have a depth that will suck you in and a heat that will melt even the coldest of hearts. A.S. Roberts I didn’t think you could better the Fated series, but you surprised me, you even made me a happy lady with a great wedding that brought a tear to my eye.

A Snow Covered Nightmare (Refuge #2)A Snow Covered Nightmare by Debbie Zello
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Snow covered Nightmare by Debbie Zello a five-star read that certainly isn’t a nightmare read. This is the second book in the Refuge series, this is a series but they can be read as a stand-alone I have read both books and plan to read the rest as Debbie Zello is a great writer that will captivate you. This story is fast-paced and full of action it will keep you hooked all through the story. Aiden and Briah have such a powerful story to tell, it builds and builds a great tension and the storytelling is next to none, you will watch as they grow to love each other and face so much together. If you don’t read any of the other books in the series try this one, it will stay with you long after you have finished the story.

Fur VeronaFur Verona by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fur Verona by Gwyn Mcnamee a five-star read that will make you roar. This is such a great read by an amazing author. My fair Verona, what a beautiful place you are, but alas its not fair Verona in Italy we visit in this fur story but Verona Forest in the Florida Everglades. Rome Montreux you furry devil you, those smouldering eyes give way to a deep heart. Jules Capshaw is a strong and independent woman, she leads her pack with honour and grace, but something is missing. But that missing thing is something that something she can’t have, or can she? A tale of love and mystery with a passion that will ruffle fur and feathers alike. Once again Gwyn Mcnamee has produced a killer story.

Caught in a Lie (Marcy series #6) by Linda Burson – Review by Sara Oxton

Caught in a Lie (Book 6)Caught in a Lie by Linda Burson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Caught in a Lie by Linda Burson a four-star read that will catch you. This is the sixth book in the Marcy series and each book goes from strength to strength, each story follows on so you would need to have read the other books in the series to get the full story and enjoy the whole picture. This series just gives you enough to keep you hooked all the way through, each part of the story is revealed just when its needed to keep you on the edge of your seat. I will say this one is darker than the other stories, the twisted revenge plot will keep you hooked, but is believable as a plot line. Overall a very good book in a great series.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sweet Hollow Women a four-star read that will challenge you. This wasn’t my favourite story by this author, it was well written and had a great plot, but missed some of the sparkle that I’ve seen in the other books I’ve read by this author. I don’t know if it was the jumps between characters and time that meant I couldn’t get as fully into it as I wanted or what. If you are in the mood for a deep and meaningful read that will challenge you and make you care about characters then this is one for you,
