Eastern Shore Swingers Books 1-3 (Boxed Set) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Sara Oxton

Eastern Shore Swingers Books 1-3 (Boxed Set)Eastern Shore Swingers Books 1-3 by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Eastern Shore Swingers Books 1-3 by Phoebe Alexander a five-star read that will swing you around in circles. This is a great boxed set that you need in your life.
Fisher of Men by Phoebe Alexander a five-star read that will swing you round. This is the first book in the Fisher of Men series, and what a series, I did this one backwards and read the other books first then came back to the beginning, so I knew what to expect, hot, heavy and full of steam. What would you do if the man you fell in love with was the opposite of everything you have been led to believe, this one will have you wondering what choice would you make, would you have a hot a life if you did? Leah overall is a great character, but she did lack something, but where she meets Cap and them together, that is just pure magic, the chemistry is off the charts hot. This series starts with a bang and just gets better. I think this series may just be my favourite by this author, and this is a very strong story in the series.
The Catch by Phoebe Alexander is a five-star read. Paisley Parker is my hero, she’s a Sassy, Voluptuous, lady who rocks her bigger body with a confidence that would put most supermodels to shame. After working burlesque dancing and event planning for a few years in New York City she decides to move away to Ocean City, Maryland to become manager extraordinaire at a member only lifestyle club called The Factory. Paisley may rock her body with confidence, and that confidence is shown in her work, she makes it look easy. But she doesn’t have a lot of confidence in herself as a person, she has sworn of relationships and claims to be a lifestyle unicorn for life. This stands even when she has to find someone to create a website for the factory, as she’s not interested in a relationship is she? After her past she can’t be blamed for not wanting one.
Step in Calvin Mitchell, after getting a bad vibe from the first company Paisley meets about creating a website, she walks into Calvin’s office and immediately knows he’s the one, she gets that good feeling, despite the fact there is only him. He runs his own business and doesn’t bat an eyelash when Paisley explains what the Factory is. He agrees to get some ideas together and suggests they meet he suggests a business dinner, kind of like a business lunch except later in the day to discuss the options as he has come up with three mock ups. He knows a little about the lifestyle but isn’t into it, he’s a relationship man and a real one-woman man.
The Factory is run by an amazing threesome, Husband and wife team Cap and Leah Sheldon, and Paisleys personal mentor Casey Fontaine. Its classy and popular place that looks a little ruff on the outside but once you step through those doors, it’s like stepping into a different world, as bright colours and industrial steampunk meet in a lifestyle members dream. It’s a great place to set the book, it explains the lingo in a manner that you don’t feel is being dumbed down for readers like me who don’t know much about the lifestyle, But aint lifestyle virgins. Phoebe Alexander is a great writer who writes with a passion that, so few can manage.
Siren Call by Phoebe Alexander a five-star read that will call to you. This is book three in the series and I have read the others first and have loved the series, this is my favourite book by this author, and I had major book hang over after the second book in the series so that shows how good this one is. I will say do not read this book if you aren’t a mature reader and if you are easily offended or prudish. This author writes sex in a way that melts off the page, she writes grown up words that will make you blush, few people can write in such a graphic manner and still be something that you can sink your teeth into and not roll your eyes at.
Sirena and Jesse are a great pairing despite the age difference, it was nice seeing the differences and how they overcome them, as well as the other things they overcome, like keeping it professional, (something that is so much harder than you can ever imagine). This author has a great way of describing the story to you, it’s not too much there is details but nothing that goes to the extreme that you are bored, enough to grip and keep you gripped.

Hope's Decree (The Fated #1)Hope’s Decree by Angela McPherson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hope’s Decree by Angela McPherson a four-star read that will give you hope. This is the first novel in the Fated series and what a start to the series. Even though the story has its roots in Greek mythology it is still a compelling and easy to read. Trinity is someone you can get into and understand her struggle. This was a great story and the author has a great descriptive writing style and I can’t wait for the rest of the series.

Caught in Make-Believe (The Caught Series Book 3)Caught in Make-Believe by Sharleen Scott
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Caught in Make Believe by Sharleen Scott a four-star read that you need to catch. This is the third novel in the Caught series and it could be read as stand-alone, but you always get the most out of a novel by reading the series. This has it all mystery and drama, second chances and twists, you will be kept guessing and wondering what happened and will you figure the clues out and work what’s really going on? I like Jace in his gentlemanly ways, but you can’t escape your past. Samantha was a good character but there was something about her that took some warming up to, overall a great story.

Shoot Me (Lie to Me #2)Shoot Me by Lynda Filler
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Shoot Me by Lynda Filler a four-star read that you will want to aim for. This is the second read in the Lie to Me series and you would benefit from reading the in order. The pace is fast, the drama is deep, and the story is good, Layla is a great character and one you will love watching as she grows before your eyes. The men will melt your eyes as well as other body parts, but it’s not all hot boys and sunshine, there is a depth and compassion to the story that will make you turn the page and suck you in.

F*cking Frank (Smirk Series Book 1)F*cking Frank by Jen Luerssen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A four-star read to take a punt on. I honestly didn’t know what to think about when I picked this one up, as the blurb was what hooked me it just intrigued me to a point that I had to know more. I don’t know what it was about this one that made me chuckle, there was just something about it. The writing style will take a little to get used to, but I promise once you do then you will enjoy it the directness of Frank is shocking but fun. Some of the characters you will adore like Mikey you will love but some not so much, but I will leave it to you to decide.

DANGEROUS GROUND: Tina and Chase’s Story (Under Ground Book 5) by Alice Rachel – Review by Sara Oxton

Dangerous Ground: Tina and Chase's StoryDangerous Ground: Tina and Chase’s Story by Alice Rachel
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dangerous Ground by Alice Rachel a five-star read you need to devour. This is Tina and Chase’s story, the fifth story in the Under Ground series and what a story they have, and what a series, do yourself a favour and read them all as they build on each other and you get little details that will make it a much deeper read. The whole series has been great but this one just tugged that much harder on my heart strings. The whole set us of the class systems, the food shortage and way of life just seemed that much realer in this one, I just seemed to absorb this book so much better.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Deadly Alliance: A Fortis/Purgatory Crossover Novel by Maddie Wade & India Kells a four-star read that will push you. What a great crossover, you can read one of the series, both or neither and you will still get something out of this story. The story is strong from the first page, you will be kept guessing at every turn and the drama is full on, Emme and Shane are so compelling to read. Despite all the twists within the story the overall was a little underwhelming but the drama during kept it up, so you may think you know where it will end, but you won’t know how you get there.

Across From You by Amabel Daniels – Review by Sara Oxton

Across From YouAcross From You by Amabel Daniels
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Across from you by Amabel Daniels a five-star read that will bring a smile to your face. This was a fun and honest and Lexi will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Lexi has a story that follows a journey and as you read you get to see her on that journey and I couldn’t help but feel like a cheerleader at times as I was rooting for her, there was just something about her. Jack was a little different, he had his own story and what I would give to have him in a life drawing class, or just generally naked, the description was that good. I can’t wait to read more from this author, she has a great way of writing that was funny and romantic and left me with that creepy grin on your face while reading, and snorting tea something that shows true funny in my book.

Elegantly Denim: An Elegant Prelude (Elegant Series- Prequel)Elegantly Denim: An Elegant Prelude by Tee Smith
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Elegantly Demin by Tee Smith a four-star read that you will enjoy. This is a prequel to the elegant series, and it shows promise for a good series. It is quick and easy to read, but there is a lot to get through in such a short number of pages, it shows promise for the series but as a stand-alone it’s a little lost. Demin is certainly someone I want to hear more about and from, and I cant wait to read more from this series.

Degrees of Control (Prestian Series, #3)Degrees of Control by Via Mari
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Degrees of Control by Via Mari a four-star read you will want to control. This is the third book in the Prestian Series and I would definitely recommend you read them in order to get the whole story, if you started with this one you wouldn’t go back as the main character Katarina grows on you during the first two books and in this one you would just hate her if you didn’t know the background, I did and I still had moments with her. Chase is someone many will love, and overall I did, I just had moments with him too, there are some heavy sexy scenes in this series and they really do have a place and depth to them that pulls the story together. The suspense and drama in this read are great and will keep you hooked all the way through.

Ring Tru (Thick as Theives Book 1)Ring Tru by Janice M. Whiteaker
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ring Tru by Janice M. Whiteaker a four-star read that will ring your bell. This is the first book in the Thick as Thieves series and oh what a start. Tru was a great character and she will pull you into the story in a great manner, she is complex but compelling. One thing I will say was that I found the start a little slow, but then got hooked into it and couldn’t put it down until I was finished. The second story can’t come quick enough as just like this second chance story the authors writing is just second to none.

Calling the CurveballCalling the Curveball by Tracey Cramer-Kelly
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Calling the Curveball by Tracey Cramer-Kelly a five-star read that will knock you out of the park. This was my first read by this author and it won’t be my last, it’s in the first read Lawson family series and shows us some great promise in the family stories. Jamie Lawson will break your heart, reading his story is compelling and brutal and you know that you want to pick him up and put him back together. Thankfully that job falls to Kira Walker, well sort of, as a bit of summer fun isn’t supposed to be this hard is it? The author has such a way with her words that you will feel the pain and heartache they feel. A brilliantly plotted and planned read.

Say When (A Cedarville Novel Book 9)Say When by Bree Kraemer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Say When by Bree Kraemer a five-star read that will melt your heart. This is the ninth book in the Cedarville Novels and each book invites you into a group of people that you feel such a bond with you miss them between stories. This time it’s the turn of Dani and Patrick, people who have played a small part in the groups before but are now being pulled fully into the fold. Dani was a complex and compelling character, I kept wondering why she wasn’t able to speak to men, why she felt she couldn’t be a fully productive member of society and the author did a great job of showing us why and helping us like she helps Dani. Patrick and his obsession with cupcakes still make me smile and blush a little when I think of frosting. Those cupcakes were so well written about you could almost taste the cupcakes on your tongue. Overall a very nicely don’t visit to Cedarville, I cant wait to go back and visit again.

Degrees of Acceptance (Prestian Series, #2)Degrees of Acceptance by Via Mari
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Degrees of Acceptance by Via Mari a four-star read that will turn your head. This is the second book in A Prestian Series and I would recommend you read the series in order as they give the whole story and you won’t want to miss a detail and it does continue the story. This is such a story of discovery and identity, it does touch on trigger subjects so don’t read if you don’t like that sort of thing. Kate was a great character overall, but I don’t know at times I did find her a little off at parts, and then she came into her own again, so I ended up loving her again. If you want passion, mystery, suspense, drama and humour as well then this is a series for you.

Tomb for an Eagle (Orkneyinga Murders Book 1) by Lexie Conyngham – Review by Sara Oxton

Tomb for an Eagle (Orkneyinga Murders, #1)Tomb for an Eagle by Lexie Conyngham
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Tomb for an Eagle by Lexie Conyngham a four-star read. This is the first book in the Orkneyinga Murders series. I didn’t read the blurb of this book so I wasn’t sure what to expect so for the first couple chapters I was a little lost, but then I soon realised what was going on and got hooked on the story. The setting was so well written that you could imagine you were in Scotland with the characters. One thing that I will note that drove me mad but I know others will love were some of the names, I know they were traditional names but I was sure I was pronouncing them wrong in my head, that being said it only bothered me a little and I know it’s one of my personal foibles. The twists and turns will keep you guessing and adds to the drama of the story.

Sailors Knot (Eastern Shore Swingers Book 4) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Sara Oxton

Sailors Knot (Eastern Shore Swingers Book 4)Sailors Knot by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sailors Knot by Phoebe Alexander a five-star read that will twist you in knots. This is the forth book in the Eastern shore swingers series and they can all be read as stand-alone but I have read the series and loved them and this one was just the cherry on top. Casey Fontaine has always been someone I have wanted to hear what she is talking about, as a character she always spoke to me, she had that tonal authority that just made you want to know more about her, find out what her story was, and this story did just that. I loved how we got to hear all about the lives the three main women of the series are living now, we see how its not all roses, but most of all we get to see Casey and her history, how she started in the life. I loved how we get to see Casey’s sister Connie, she is someone I would love to see pop up in the Factory. It took a little to get to grips with the back and forth but the clear date lines and set story lines made it easy to keep track and get the most out of the story. I can confidently say that this was my favourite story by this author, it just showed us a depth to her writing that I am glad I had the opportunity to read.

Our Unexpected Hope by Michelle Sullivan a four-star read you can only hope to read. What a compelling and emotional read, this was such a good read in the true style by this author you will adore the characters. Quinn was a great person, she just had something about her and when you see where she comes from it becomes clear why she was such a great character. With Noah for some reason it took longer to get warm to him, but I adored him in the end. Overall this was a great story and one you will need to read.

Small Town Hero (Small Town Brides, #1)Small Town Hero by Kim Koby
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Small Town Hero by Kim Koby a four-star read that will restore your faith. This is the first book in the Small Town Brides series and it was sweet, and romantic in the best possible ways. This was a great opposite attract, with some added drama as well the pages just flowed from each other with a great flow. The way we see Rebecca with her tough façade (with good reason, with a bestie like hers who needs enemies) and soft gentleness that we get to see when she shows her true self. It was a great development to the story, it wasn’t just this is a scorned woman ohh she met a man and now she’s happy there was detail and structure and a trueness to the flow, It just made it that much more of a stronger story.

The Nearness of You by K.G. Fletcher a five-star read that you won’t want to put down. I have read a few reads by this author and I have to admit this one was my favourite, I couldn’t put it down. On the surface you would think that David and Lauren could be quite self-centred and selfish as he is a hot model and she is a talented singer, but they aren’t and that’s the joy of this story, they have their moments but still they will make you fall for them as they fall for each other, there is a sizzle and spark that will keep you hooked.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Romance in Rehoboth Boxed set by K.L. Montgomery a five-star filled read. This is the first three books in the Romance in Rehoboth series and all together they make each book stronger than the last. I don’t know why but they do, each story is of a different strong, individual woman getting what she needs and deserves, each book is good but my personal favourite was the Flip, Sonnett had something about her in a total nerdy chic amazingness and Andrew had that special something that would turn your head and make you chase crocodiles in the rain.

Jessica has been through some tough times and she is really a strong character to stand up to it all, we watch as she starts a little lost but comes through in the best way to become a woman you will want in your life. My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Boss by Abigail Owen a five-star read that will blow you away. This is the first book in the Fire’s Edge series and what a start, this is such a compelling story, Finn will break your heart, Dragon shifter stories are something I’ve avoided for a little while as I was getting over done with them, but Abigal Owen has brought a literal breath of fresh air and fire to the genre. Finn was a great character, you will feel his pain and then his confusion as if its your own. There were bits that could have been done a little better, but overall this was a great story. Can’t wait for the next story in the series.

Give and Take by Lee Kilraine a four-star read you will want to take away with you. This was a great story and I plan on going back to read the first story in The Thorne Brothers series before moving on to the next chapter as this was great. Rhia was a brilliant character, she was the perfect compliment to Wyatt and his crazy hotness/urrggness. There was a great easiness to the story and a flow to the words that made it an easy read, I felt a little light depth may have mad the overall story a little better, but I have high hopes that once I go back and read the rest it will get better and better.

Our Next ChapterOur Next Chapter by Michelle Sullivan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Our Next Chapter by Michelle Sullivan a five-star read you will love. This is a great second chance romance and yet another great read by this author, she is an author who has the talent to surprise you, as you start the story and its good, but slow burning and then you start to care about the characters and you start to really get to know them and then boom suddenly it’s become one of those books you cant put down and you have to finish, you have to read every page like it’s the last. Karalyn and Des have a great friendship and that runs through the story making it deeper and deeper, it’s the best type of friendship the one where you can go for ages without speaking and then pick up where you left off, it takes work but has a great base. Because of that this is a great story and you will adore it like an old friend.

Releasing the Demons by L.D. Rose a four-star read that will hold you tight. This is the first book in the order of the senary series and it shows certain promise that we will be getting a great series. This will suck you into a world where what goes bump in the night its an intense roller-coaster of emotional reading that will suck you in, wring you out and leave you the other side. Blaze was darkly delicious and tasty in all the right ways, its clear that his history is troublesome and not something he wants to deal with, but in some ways that just makes him that much deeper of a character. Valerie was great person and together they face a hard time and you will be sat on the edge of your seat waiting to hear what they will do next. Overall a great read and I for one cant wait to sink my teeth into the next chapter.
