This is a dystopian sci-fi read that doesn’t seem to far out of being believable. Brain implants are currently being created so this novel doesn’t seem to far fetched. The creative adventure the reader is taken on keeps the pages turning.

This was an interesting dystopian sci-fi read. The author did an incredible job of turning our future into something completely unrecognisable but not so far out of the realm of being believable especially with the advances in technology we have happening all the time. Who’s to know for certain that humans wouldn’t be able to access apps and entertainment from a chip implanted into them. But with technology like that we also lead ourselves with the danger of being controlled by the same implants used to make our lives easier and better.
We are with Frankie in this book. Frankie desperately wants to become a superhero so she spends her life completing missions to earn her spot on that elite team. This is the mission that will guarantee her that spot. However she needs to take a trip into a world so far away from her protected world. She needs to go into the poverty zone to spy on a possible group of people who are looking to rebel. The problem is Frankie knows that when people go to the poverty zone they don’t return.
As much as she wants to refuse she can’t and so she finds herself in a dark place which is worse than anything she ever imagined. With dangerous creatures and plants the humans inhabiting the space become the least of Frankie’s worries. It is complete madness full of chaos as everyone struggles to survive.
Are the people she’s been sent to spy on really rebels trying to cause trouble or are they just normal people struggling to survive in the dark place they have found themselves?
Will Frankie ever return to her life? And will she finally get the position promised to her?
As she learns more about the people in the area, their stories and their secrets will she be able to survive against all the odds stacked against her.
This was a gripping read that I couldn’t put down. I will definately be looking for more from this author as this is the first book i have read and I really enjoyed it.

Threads of Time is the second book in the Toronto Time Agents Series and is Sci-Fi Adventure that is a fast paced story that is hard to put down once you start reading. Wilda retired from being a temporal agent after the loss of her husband and child and now runs a outfitters shops for the time travelers. When her life’s work is turned yo ashes her world is pretty much turned upside down. She’s now forced to rely on the new trainee due to the times they are traveling to. They are now in a situation that where they find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time and now must find a way back home. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I’m looking forward to reading more from this Author.

The Catford Catastrophe Zone by Petra Jacob was a lot more intriguing than I expected. I mean I knew it would be good because I was quite engrossed by Ms. Jacob’s ‘Peddling Doomsday’ story- but this book is even better.
This has so many great ingredients- from a dystopian theme, futuristic setting, sci-fi elements, thriller-esque details, dramatic developments, a little satire, secrets, agendas, politics, social commentary, rebellion/rebels, mutants, danger, subterfuge, some action, adventure, a DNA-enhanced crime fighter, some mayhem, interesting characters, and a fight for survival.
The story wasn’t what I was expecting, in a great way. It was very intriguing, well-developed, and thought-provoking- but as expected from reading her previous book, Ms. Jacob has also set the tension and anticipation on high. The plot is complex, and layered- with a lot more going on between the covers than first meets the eye.
As with her other book, the characters were quite interesting individuals who were really well thought out, and all had their own quirks, flaws, and unique personalities. The setting and world-building were great and gave the story a unique ‘feel’. The world-building was really well-crafted- but, in saying that, I think it was the characters who really drove this story, pulling me in and keeping me turning the pages, following along to see how it all turned out in the end. They certainly made it more interesting, for sure.
If you love dystopian stories with more than a few surprising developments, then this is definitely the book for you.
I look forward to reading more of Ms. Jacob’s work.

This book is so good! Once again a wonderful dystopian novel. The only issue I had while reading was the different POV’s. They were not separated very clearly, so I had to re-read in order to figure out which character was narrating.
However, the characters were amazing and well detailed. I was frustrated with Frankie all the way up to the very end. I have to say Zac or the twins were my favorite characters. I know, they are on opposite ends of the spectrum, but they have their individual quirks that I love.
Overall I would highly recommend this novel to anyone who loves a good dystopian read. This is on a different level and includes my next favorite genre as well, which is Sci-Fi. A very fun and unique read for anyone looking for something different and quick!

Threads of Time by C. N. Jackson is the second book in the Toronto Time Agents Series. We follow Wilda Firestone as she travels back in time. The visit is to try to find terrorists that seem to be responsible for a bombing in the present time. This book was a nice adventure. Although I started the series with this book, I was not confused. The book does a nice job of bringing you up to speed on past events. The story contains a well-written plot and plenty of action to keep you intrigued. The author does a good job of holding your attention. I have to admit that I did not connect with Wilda. Despite this, I was still able to enjoy the story. This is a good story for people who enjoy time travel or historical fiction.

Petra Jacob is a new author to me so thought I would give this book a go as the cover drew me in. I was curious and wasn’t sure what to expect but I was not disappointed. The Catford Catastrophe Zone is her fourth on the edge of your seat book and is an intriguing dystopian science fiction thriller is set in the future of 2100 England.
The characters are compelling, well thought out and well developed with their own quirks, and personalities. The story was helped along and was made more interesting with the dark humour that Petra wove just right.
Unfortunately, her mission would force her into the darker side of a world she had never seen. Frankie had seen many things, but nothing could have prepared her for the dangerous and disturbing Catford Catastrophe zone. A place where nightmares are made. A place full of unimaginable horrors. A place where there are rebellions, where the worst of humanity resides. Where plants are no longer just plants and unknown creature’s dwell. A place where special abilities, and things you have never thought existed are the norm. A place that she may not survive.
What’s at the infamous Ground Level? Who is collecting people any why? To find out you really need to pick up this book and find out.
Beware of the place where things go bump night or day. Don’t close your eyes!

This was quite the thrilling adventure. It did remind me in some ways, such as the zones (ex. poverty) of The Hunger Zone. This was a story I couldn’t put down. It’s a crazy world (who knows, could our world end up that way?). I couldn’t put it down. I was totally drawn in by the characters. I am usually turned right off a story with nonbinary. The pronouns make it to hard for my brain to comprehend at time (complications from surgery). The AI boss being that way was so interesting that I had to see where that went. It was a totally good story all around. I’d put it right up there at the top. This is a must read dystopian/scifi/fantasy. Excellent story.

This is the second book in the Toronto Time Agents series. I would recommend reading the first book prior to this one for an understanding on the world and the characters.
I don’t often read books with time travel but this one had me engaged and invested. There are plenty of twists and suspenseful moments to keep your attention and make you unwilling to put the book down.
The descriptive narrative allows you to step through time with the characters. You can tell research has been done on the time period, and this adds realism to the story as well as making you fell immersed in the story and time period. I was gripped from the beginning and remained enthralled throughout. There was so much going on and yet it wasn’t enough, I needed more of Wilda immediately – I loved her.
I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book, this series has been great so far and I can only see it getting better if it continues how it has.

I enjoyed reading this time travel history book. It is a fast paced, well written story that took me on an adventure. A well written story that has some mystery to it. Wilda’s world is turned upside down when her life’s work is reduced to ashes. She is angered which has now taken her on a dangerous mystery. What happens when a time travel doesn’t go as planned? I enjoyed Wilda’s character and what she brought to the story. She is a determined woman who puts her past aside only to see things are a lot more out of whack. I enjoyed how she pulled me into her world of time travel and kept my attention to the end. There is great growth of the plot throughout which makes the story easy to read. This is a fast paced, engaging story that is easy to read and hard to put down. I really enjoyed this story and the characters within. I highly recommend this book.

Wilda Firestone is back and still being fuelled by black coffee and sarcasm and wishing she could be back fixing garments and not training a new agent, especially the one agent she has been saddled with, but she reluctantly carries on with the task. She has been bribed by a trip which she has wanted to do for a long time, despite it being ever so slightly against the rules, but first, she has to complete a training mission, but just as Wilda and her clueless protege begin their training, disaster strikes.
Wilda is having the last bit of downtime before she really knuckles down with her annoyingly upstanding trainee, she is sat in her workshop and doing what she does best, repairing a garment when all of a sudden, the store is rocked by an explosion. She immediately springs into action and makes sure her team is ok before she sets them off on tasks to make sure headquarter knows what is happening and that the other people around her are safe, so she goes into the time traveller office next door and tries to see how many people are stuck in the crumbling building.
When she wakes up in a hospital bed and in an oxygen mask, she realises that she must have blacked out in the building, but her first worry is not for herself, but for her team and as soon as she knows that they are safe, she asks about the others around them, but knowing what happened, she is saddened by the news, but when she sees her shop and few days later, she is devastated. Unfortunately, the time travel machine was damaged, so their mission is on hold, but the training goes on, so that when they are be ready to travel as soon as the machine is finished.
When the time for the trip arrives, there is some apprehension as the true nature of the mission and the little she knows about it is revealed, however, when the machine drops them in the wrong place. Wilda is suspicious that something else is going on, but can she figure out what and stop if before all of time unravels and how will she do this while keeping herself and her impulsive trainee alive? This is another brilliantly epic time travelling adventure across country and within the dangerous web of politics and aristocracy, in the engaging tale.

The second book in the Toronto Time Agents, Threads of Time is a brilliant sci-fi story that takes the reader on a journey filled with mystery, history and laugh out loud moments. Wilda Firestone is a great character and I enjoyed her witty outlook. The author presents a world layered in history, danger, suspense, drama , science, paranormal and vivid imagery. This is a great addition to the series. Recommend.

Threads of Time is the second book in the Toronto Time Agents series by C.N. Jackson (aka-Christy Nicholas). It is another intriguing adventure, with a suspenseful plot, mystery, history, sci-fi elements, time travel, drama, agendas, the paranormal, danger, investigation, banter, witty dialogue, and lots more.
We are back with Wilda Firestone whom we met previously in Book #1- She’s a retired Temporal Agent who now runs an outfitters shop for time travellers. Things take a dangerous and complicated turn when a bomb goes off, destroying her shop, as well as the time machine next door. Now Wilda is thrust into a dangerous investigation with a ‘rookie’ as her partner. The stakes are high, and the adventure is wild.
I highly recommend reading the first book, Time Tourist Outfitters Ltd (Book #1), before starting on this one, as the first book lays solid foundations and contains important character details/introductions, as well as other important information which will enhance your reading experience of this book.
As usual, Ms. Jackson’s wonderful worldbuilding skills are evident- crafting a story that is quite rich and vividly descriptive. The historical elements were really well done- adding an extra element of interest to the overall story.

Threads of Time is the second book in the Toronto Time Agents series. This novel is suspenseful, mysterious, and has a lot historical components. The setting is descriptive and easy to imagine the places. It’s a great historical time traveling adventure! I appreciate the author including a pronunciation guide for the words that were not in English and a note that the novel is set in Toronto, Canada. Which helps the reader know that there are different spelling of some words.

Wilda Firestone is a force to be reckoned with across all times. A retired time travel agent who decided she could no longer be involved as an agent after the devastating loss of her husband and their child. Unable to remove herself from her beloved agency completely, she becomes a seamstress for her fellow time travelers, creating clothing to withstand the trip.
After being…convinced…to take on a protege, Algernon, she makes a plan. Before they can even start following that plan, a bomb has gone off, her work is demolished and she has coworkers fighting for their lives from injuries in the blast. Traveling back to the 1850’s to locate terrorists who have destroyed her life and to avenge the damage caused by the blast at the office, Wilda and Algernon experience their battles in the past with vivid world-building and descriptions, wonderful and sassy exchanges, unique ideas, interesting characters, suspense, danger, and time travel!
This is the first book I’ve read by this author but not the last. I didn’t really have any trouble following in this book – I just don’t want to deprive myself of book 1!

From the moment I started reading this book I knew it was going to be one I enjoyed. I loved the characters and their teacher/ protegee reaction ship, however reluctant it seemed to be at times. The dymmnamic between them was great and I found it highly entertaining.
The book itself is well written. The storyline is well developed and interesting to read. It didn’t feel like any other time travel book I have read which is great. This was a brilliant story and I am looking forward to reading more from this series.

The is 2nd book in the Toronto Time Agents Series. I do really recommed you read them in order so you get a full understanding of the characters and their roles.It is a travel adventure that is filled with twists and turns and danger around every corner. The author does an amazing job of taking the reader back in time to eras go by and really immersing them in that time period. The author’s research and descriptions of the time periods the characters find themselves in really brings the whole story to life.
This story starts with a bang quite literally when an explosion happens destroying the time machine next door to Wilda’s shop. Not only destroying the machine but every item of historical clothes that Wilda has made for all the time travelling customers.
As a former agent she is used to dealing with terrorist past and present so when she is requested to take her new trainee on a mission the last thing she wants is to be thrown back into the dangers of time travelling to times unknown. With dangers attempting to harm her in the present, a time machine not exactly working as it should, terrorists to stop in the past and a trainee who doesn’t have a clue Wilda certainly has her work cut out to keep the time lines untouched, people safe and the present unaffected in negative ways.
This is truelly a captivating read that will have the reader gripped from the first page. I can’t wait to see what else the author has in store for us.

C.N. Jackson brings us a new book in the Toronto Time Agents where history, time travel and adventures are abounded. Threads of Time is the second book in this series the first book being Time Tourist Outfitters, Ltd. Both are a unique and interesting read.
Wilda cracks me up. She is stubborn, wilful, definitely not a push over and she says what she thinks. I forgot how much I loved her and her witty banter from the first book. Time traveling is her life’s work, and she loves it but it’s time for her to focus on training others (or so she says) but of course nothing is ever straightforward when it comes to Wilda and time travel.
It is a time where you can time travel to anywhere and time you want to go to.
It is a tense, suspenseful and mysterious read with a lot of historical elements. C.N. has woven a tale where her narrative so very vivid you can easily imagine all that she describes.
Join Wilda as she travels to the 1850’s to investigate terrorists who have taken everything away from her. But is it only terrorists that she has to face or is it something much worse?
If you like historical time travel adventures, then you will need to get your hands on this book to find out.

Wilda is a no-nonsense, take-charge time-traveling agent. She is forced to rely on her new trainee because of the times they travel to. This was a story of the wrong place, wrong time, and being left completely on their own to figure out how to get home. Reading how Wilda continues despite her past traumas is a journey on its own. Looking forward to what comes next.

This is the first book I have read by this author and the first Toronto Time Agents book. It can be read as a standalone; however, I will be picking up the previous installment as soon as I can. Any time I am asked what superpower I wish I had, the answer is always time travel. Of course that’s what caught my attention first! Wilda Firestone is a tough and fiery protagonist who reluctantly sets out on an investigation in order to fix the past and save the present. Wilda agrees to team up with Alergnon and teach him what she knows, much to her chagrin. The way these characters play off each other is so fun! This book is full of awesome characters and mysterious thrill-rides. The story is well-written and fleshed-out and contains a little bit of everything. I highly recommend picking up this book. You won’t be bored for a minute!

What an adventure this book takes on. From the explosion on through, I was caught up in every moment. I couldn’t put the book down. I am hoping there will be more. The story is really good. I found the writing to be such that you felt you were there. It’s exciting and interesting and very engaging. The characters are all so very interesting. They each have such fascinating details. Even the details in the story catch your attention. This is a book that is a must read.

Alterations Trilogy: Alterations, Game Changer, Primal Will by Jane Suen

This was an amazing trilogy, I absolutely loved everything about it. It was very easy to read, and I was able to read it very fast but that didn’t not take away on how captivating this book was. These books had a twist that I was not expecting it was creepy, scary, suspenseful, dystopian, sci-fi series and really makes you feel like it could almost be talking about us right now in the present. In this trilogy there are three women, with body image issues, that like everyone now what the quick fixes and go see Dr. Kite to fix these issues they are each facing. The books kept me on this roller coaster of a ride on what these women were going thou and how they were going to deal with their individual situations. I was on the edge of my seat and couldn’t out this book down. I would suggest not to read this out of order thou, each book continues on from the previous one. But this was an amazing captivating read.

This contains all three books in the sci-fi thriller Alterations trilogy. The trilogy follows Gigi, Ellen and Lilly in the aftermath of the implantation of a mind-control chip to alter something about themselves.
The premise of the storyline was great, I was intrigued and was hooked wanting to see the 3 face the consequences of the chip and whether they would achieve their happily ever afters. The idea behind the chips and how far people would go to change things about themselves was interesting to me.
I do think reading the trilogy in this set is the best way to go about it as there were moments (particularly within the second book) which slowed down considerably. I don’t think this was a problem when reading it all together, but don’t think this would have the same impact if reading separately.
The author was descriptive, paining vivid imagery of scenes and characters allowing you to step into the story. The writing flowed well, but there were frequent point of view changes. This wasn’t an issue for me as I quite enjoyed seeing things from multiple perspectives and getting to know the characters more, but it is not for everyone.
Overall I enjoyed this trilogy, it had a brilliant premise and was engaging and thought-provoking. My main issue would be the pacing previously mentioned, but as a whole this doesn’t detract from my enjoyment reading these books.

This is an amazing series. It is a sci fi Thriller which I was completely invested in. The author’s writing is captivating and kept me engaged from beginning to end.
The first book is Alterations and it follows the story of 3 women and a scientist/doctor. Doctor Kite has found a way to control these women using microchips in their bodies. 1 helps a woman to heal, 1 helps a woman to lose and maintain her weight and the 3rd helps a women overcome the stress of the divorcee. But what happens when these micro chips malfunction? What is the consequences of allowing a foreign object into your body to control an area of your life? Will these Microchips become the most amazing creation ever discovered or will the side effects and consequences when something goes wrong out weight the positives.
Book 2 is called Game Changer. We are back with Gigi, Lilly and Ellen and Dr Kite. All of there lives have moved forward and the women seem to be making their own path in life. Gigi has finally found love with her flatmate but will it last or will something find a way of coming between them? Ellen has finally lost the weight she wanted and she’s done it on her own. Now she’s a single mum after her one night stand with Brad but life’s great she’s changed career and is happy. But what happens when Brad reappears in her life?
Lilly can’t forgive Dr Kite for what he did to her and with her hatred for men stronger than ever no one is safe from her attempts to get revenge.
And finally we have Dr Kite. After his warehouse burned down he left town and moved somewhere no one knows him. After a while of self pity he meets a woman called Tiffany. Could she be the woman to bring him happiness? Is she all that she seems? And what happens when the Dr decides to play god again with his microchips?
The final book is called Primal Will. This book is just as captivating as the first too. It is fast paced and the twist and turns keep you guessing. As this is the final book we get the answers of what happens with all our characters. Do they get their happy endings? Do they things they thought would make them happy turn out to have the opposite effect? Is Lily pushing because of a need for revenge or is she seeing a business opportunity? And what happens with the man who started all this madness Dr Kite. Is he allowed his happy ending? Is he a good man who thought he was doing something good? Or is he a man who wants to manipulate and control people?
These books have been amazing to read

The Alterations Trilogy is a must read! It is a short read since the entire trilogy took me about 4 hours in total. It revolves around the story of three women who have been implanted with a mind control microchips. One of the chip malfunctions and causing one of the women to attempt killing herself. It turns out that 2 out of the 3 chips are faulty. The book alternates chapters between Gigi, Ellen, and Lilly, as well as other supporting characters. All their stories are very different, but they all tie together nicely at the end of each book. The number of twists and turns and connections between the women kept me reading to the very end. You will be on the edge of your seat with the Alterations Trilogy.

This trilogy is easy to read in one or two setting. Each book in this series is around 100 pages or so.
This book is interesting, creepy, and downright scary at times with the options available to people these days. While this is a work of science fiction, it could easily become a reality, if it hasn’t already.
Three women, all with differing sorts of body image issues, submit to Dr. Kite and his experimental microchips. Each chip is designed to “fix” the image issue that the person is facing. In Alterations, the focus is on the change that takes place within each of these three. Game Changer is about a life changing experience for each of them and Primal Will is their resolve to get away from the chip itself.
These stories are situations that are very real to many people and the resulting experiment proves that science is a good answer but not always the right one!!
This author is very quickly becoming a favorite of mine. I’ve read a few of her books now and she doesn’t disappoint!! She writes excellent books with a psychokiller thriller slant!
